Tl-the contact owns a 2006 nissan maxima. the contact was driving approximately between 25 -35 mph approaching a traffic stop signal. there was heavy smoke that expelled from underneath the front driver seat. the vehicle was driven to the side of the road. immediately, the contact exited the vehicle. the front driver seat area was extinguished by pedestrians. the fire department arrived at the scene after the fire was extinguished. there were no personal injuries; and a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. the technician stated the failure was contributed to the front seat wire harness. there was a previous recall repair under nhtsa campaign id number 05v512000 (seats:front assembly:power adjust). however, the recall service repair did not correct the safety defect. the authorized dealer refused to repair the vehicle free of charge regarding the defect. the failure mileage was approximately 71,000. js
