Defect SummaryOn certain vehicles, the rear subframe may have been manufactured incorrectly, which could result in a crack in a bracket which holds part of the rear suspension.
Consequence SummaryIf the bracket is cracked, the stability of the vehicle may be affected under severe driving conditions. this could lead to a loss of control of the vehicle which could result in a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the rear subframe to determine if it was manufactured incorrectly and replace it, if necessary. the recall began on february 27, 2006. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2006 nissan maxima. while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact heard a loud snapping sound from the front end of the vehicle. the contact then noticed that the front passenger side tire was flat and the front passenger side coil spring was fractured. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised the contact that the driver and passenger side coil springs were fractured and would have to be replaced. the front passenger side tire would also need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000. kmj

 2006 nissan maxima transmition keeps sliping and jerking in-between gears. there is a growling noise coming from the engine. there is a squeeking coming from the front driverside shock. took to nissan dealership to have it inspected and ended up having to have the transmission rebuilt and they couldnt reconstruct the noises from the shock and they couldnt identify the what was causing the noise from the engine.

 I purchased my 06' maxima in 08' i had it for about 2 months and the cd player doesnt play any thing it skips spits the cd out and an error mesg. comes up. i took it to the dealer and they fixed it so they say 1 week later it starts with the same issue i called and they said they can do anything about it maybe its the cd. so i never got that issue fixed. an other issue is my car has about 70k miles and every time the car goes 20-30 mph it has a hard hit to change gears every time. my car get serviced every 3-4 months and now i need a new tranmission!! i only work about 20 miles from where i live how can that be? also i had to replace some kind of brake part. every time i went to brake the car made this noise and it started to shake the sound was this grinding sound then an other sound started like when you press the brakes and the roads are wet. but shaking real bad. i went to the dealer and they said its w & t on the car. when i asked him how offten this happens and he said not that offten so how can that be? other than that its little thing like my truck lock doesnt stay put i have to tighten the bolts of it once aweek please make nissan do a re-call i have read all the compalints and they are all the same and expensive issue.

 I bought a 2006 nissan maxima 2/27/06 and it has a rattling noise somewhere underneath the car. when i notice this noise bring it to a nissan dealer where i bought the vehicle. they work on it several time and still didn't fix it. i was unhappy with this and launch a complaint with nissan consumer affair. a consumer affair specialist told me to take it another dealer which i did. now it's been a month or more going back and forth to get this noise problem corrected. i still have the car which still have this rattling noise. *nm

 Dt*: the contact stated while attempting to brake at 20 mph, the vehicle swerves to the left and right. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the dealer stated this was normal for a vehicle with 18 inch tires. the dealership told the consumer the reason he experienced the jerking of the vehicle was because the vehicle has 18 inch wheels and the wheels want to follow the road irregularities. updated 04/06/06

 Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan maxima. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a rubbing sound and noticed that the wheel would stop and then continue to rotate. he looked underneath the vehicle and noticed that the wheel bearings were defective. the vehicle was towed to a dealer and they replaced the wheel bearings. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 71,000 and current mileage was 85,000. updated 6/29/09 *cn the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. updated 06/30/09.*jb

 Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan maxima. when the contact took the vehicle in to have the tires balanced, she was informed of a crack in the rear suspension subframe. she did not notice any differences in the vehicle prior to the failure and the vehicle has not been diagnosed. nhtsa campaign id number 06v046000 (suspension:rear) was referenced. the current and failure mileages were 45,676.

 Purchased used 06 maxima in aug-sep time frame. vehicle had problems with noise coming from suspension either front or back(unknown at the time). noise never went away. recent oil change revealed rear suspension replacement by goodyear service rep. check with nhtsa and found out recall for power seats and rear suspension. recall repairs was not done to car. does dealership require knowledge of all recalls for used vehicles. *tr
