Vehicle jerks at low speeds between 10-25 mph while accelerating and decelerating (1st-2nd gears). vehicle also jerks from shifting park to reverse or drive, reverse to drive and drive to reverse. vehicle jerks so severe at low speeds, it feels like being rear-ended. vehicle will do this while trying to merge into traffic which is a safety hazard.

Sudden acceleration after the brakes were applied. vehicle 1 hit two other vehicles, minor damage to them and then vehicle 1 flipped onto the driver's side. no one was injured. nissan maxima has been serviced twice for sudden acceleration at the nissan dealership. the nissan maxima was judged to be a total loss due to the damage incurred.

I'm concerned that the defective transmissions that nissan knowingly placed in the 2006 nissan maxima is and will continue to cause bodily harm and fatalities. my car started out jerking, slipping so bad it would cause whip lash. now it's at a point i have it parked because i'm scared that i, my family, or an innocent driver will be in an accident, or potentially killed. i recently called consumer affairs in reference to this matter and they wanted $5,100 to fix it. it's ashame that they knowingly are charging the consumers and harming the innocent. i'm a soldier!!! what if i half way protected this country? i pray someone will look into this matter. innocent lives are at stake....

***faulty transmission*** my 2006 nissan maxima jerks, takes time to accelerate in traffic, and it barely wants to move once stopping for a red light. the gear spontaneously gets stuck in either 1st or 5th and i have to pull over and turn the car off and then back on so that i can get to my destination. this is so dangerous. my car has been properly maintained throughout the years and upon my research, i have found that others (have had/and are still having) the same problems that i am experiencing right now. this is not safe or fair to me as a consumer. a recall needs to be done asap.

In october 2012 it initially started when i was shifting into drive and the car jerking forward. then about a month later at a stop light it jerked forward when i accelerated as the light turned green. the acceleration was sluggish (like going from 1st to 2nd gear in a standard) you could feel the change in gear. once the gear changed occurred and the speed was constant it seem to catch and go into drive as normal but this time the check engine light came on. the jerk forward was very noticeable and very scary. as a result i brought it to an auto mechanic, they ran diagnostics and a code came up of po750. this code relates to the solenoid pack which is in the valve body and a part of the transmission. the mechanic did a lot of research and finally went to the nissan dealer to find out how they solved the problem and their answer to him was to replace the transmission not the solenoid pack. the dealership was familiar with this defect because they had replaced quite a few transmissions as a result of this problem. i then went on to a website, aboutautomobile.com, and found numerous complaints related to this problem for the 2006 maxima. this is unacceptable and really should be looked at. the median mileage that this defect occurs is around 77k. this problem poses a dangerous situation when driving, a high cost repair (3500 dollars) to replace the transmission which is what the nissan dealerships recommend and not a good feeling about a car that's not really that old. please let me know what can be done about this issue or where i can go to get help. of course the extended warranty ended in march 2012. which makes it a lot harder to deal with. thanks in advance for your help. debbie

When driving my vehicle, i fill a jerking and shifting hard in 1st and 2nd gear like a mule is kicking me in the rear it goes on for days and when i slow down about to come to a stop it also kicks and jerks real bad and sometimes it just wont go at all. after i let the car sit for a min and shift from park to drive it hesitates for at least 7 to 10 secs and jumps real bad and goes into drive. i took it to my local nissan dealer and they couldn't find any thing wrong with the transmission;however, they said i need to get my transmission flush for $400. but they did charge me for the diagnostics test which cost $89. even though i paid to get my transmission flush at my mechanic shop a lot cheaper according to nissan, the problem is still going on. what should a person do. i have kept up all the maintenance on this vehicle, i am really scaried that it my affect my motor mounts with this jerking.

The past 4 months my nissan has been jerking when i am at slow speeds. it feels like the transmission is slipping when it is in lower gears. it is very unpredictable surging forward at random times. i feel like any moment it is going to cause an accident or quit all together. i am going to schedule an appointment with nissan dealer this week, but i did research prior and noticed numerous reports on this same issue. including a current class action law suit. i do not have 3500 to replace the transmission if this was due to the error on behalf of nissan. please help.

This vehicle has been maintained well over the years. it is absolutely incredible on how many people share the same problems that i have and that nissan has not done nothing about it. my car started shifting really hard from 2nd to 3rd gear, it also gets stuck on 5th gear once the transmission is heated up. i know that it is the transmission that is defective or else there would not be so many videos on the internet about how to repair the solenoids that are inside the valve body. the car is in horrible driving condition and i even drive around with my hazards on because of the violent downshifts shake up the car and myself.

I drove to work which is about 10 miles from my residence, parked to retrieve some paprework then returned to my vehicle. i started my vehicle and placed the transmission in drive, with my foot on the brakes as required while changing gears.there was a big time delay before the transmission engaged into the drive position.there also was a loud and very hard bang causing me to be forced rearward in the seat and the vehicle jumped forward, as if there was not a foot on the brakes. at this point the vehicle is engaged in the drive position. i spoke to a representative at the dealership where i bought the vehicle new in april of 2006,all they had to say is i must pay $109 for a diagnosis of the problem and hopefully they could duplicate it. i also spoke to nissan america consumer hotline and they also said that i must have it dealt with through the dealer, and they will see what they could do .at the time of this entry, the vehicle has 55000 mile exact. i have been on numerous site online and saw compliants about the same problem, with the transmission as a known fault. transmissions from nissan between the years of 2004 to 2007.all the complainants states they have not gotten any solution from nissan america.

My car was bought at a nissan dealership in 2011 of december, in january i noticed the car jerking and shifting while driving 20 to 30 miles.so i took the car back at the dealership and they said that they will only give me another car only if the problem is in the transmission, they told me that the problem is my motor mount is broken, and they don't cover anything outside the transmission or engine only the inside.. the total amount to fix was 500 but i had no money to do it.they gave me an option of taking an extended warranty which it was expensive for me so i shopped for a warranty and i got a full bumper to bumper for a cheaper price than what they gave me.it took me 3months to go back to the dealer with a new warranty they fixed the motor mount but the issue is still their.a nissan technician took it for a test drive they suggested that i need a new transmission and there's no way i'm willing to give them my car again to fix because it took them along time to realize the problem telling me to fix your car we need to get it out of idle and emission needs to be checked that's what they were saying before they realize its a transmission..i love nissan maxima but in order to keep a customer like me to stay loyal please fix the issue and do the right thing by recalling the vehicles.

Purchased this car in 2006 brand new! 90k miles the abs went.........at 120k miles the ac went and you have to keep putting freon all summer long! now at 130k miles the car jerks sporadically when driving it switches gears and takes about 5-8 seconds to switch gears. truly a dissatisfied customer. i paid for a transmission flush, which had i known at the time would not have done it because the problem remains!

While traveling approximately 40 mph, with no warning, the abs lamp, tcs light and the emergency brake lights came on and the brakes became sensitive. i took the vehicle to my mechanic who discovered that the abs actuator was defective, rendering the abs system, traction control system and the electronic brake force distribution inactive. the mechanic installed an abs motor/module per the nissan service bulletin issued march 16, 2007 and removed both rear wheel bearings and performed an inspection and knuckle modification per the bulletin. the cost of the abs actuator alone was $1,300; 75% of the total repair bill which cost, i feel, is exorbitant and excessive.

My car started with a rattleing noise heard from inside the cabin at 56,000 miles,, the noise would come and go. then at 77,000 miles shortly after the warranty goes out, it startes making a whinning noise,, similar to power steering when fluid is low,, well it turns out its the timing chain tensioner,, made up of plastic and the cost of repair is 1200.00 dollars!!, i have done some research online and im not the only one that has gone thru this on nissan vehicles, even cars from 1997 to present have had this problem related to the timing chain tensioners going bad right after warranty expires,, this has to be a recall but nissan wont admit it, im starting to get very dissapointed in nissan, hopefully other nissan owners with this problem complain here,, very dissapointed in nissan.

I was first told that the cataylic converter was gone, had that replaced, then was told 2 motor mounts were gone, had them replaced and still have the same problem, with the car jerking with a hard knock into 1 and 2nd gear and now it is accelerating while driving and jerking into gear. nissan needs to recall the transmission on these 2006 maximas there are so people having the same problem.

After 65000 miles transmission started to show problems. mostly from 1 to 2 gear it jumps like a mule. almost undriveable. i have spoken to the dealer but guarranty is not longer active so most spend 3500 dollars. i would never buy nissan again.

I was driving my 2006 nissan maxima home on the interstate in 5-o-clock traffic and the transmission gave out. i was in the left lane and was luckily able to get into the right lane without hitting another car or causing a serious accident. i then rolled to the nearest exit and was able to break to a stop, but of course with the transmission gone i couldn't even roll the car home. i had the car towed. this wasn't too much of a surprise as i had spoken with a transmission repair shop just a few months prior and was told that i needed a new valve body, the one on this particular car is commonly seen and replaced all the time. at that time he quoted me $1800 for the part/labor, which i didn't have so i agreed to come back when i received more financial aid for the spring semester. when i contacted the shop this time around they told me that it sounds like i'd unfortunately need a new transmission altogether. a used one only has a 90 day warranty and he quoted me around $2700-$3000. the valve body could be the same defective one as before, and being used, i could easily wind up in the same boat 90 days later. he said he'd call back to give me a quote on a rebuilt transmission, but that it would cost more and come with a longer warranty, possibly 2 years. i have contacted nissan about the problem and they have not responded. apparently since i didn't die yet or cause anyone else to die it's ok.

Vehicle started showing warning lights and responding sporadically, working smoothly then failing in various manners including: failing to accelerate after stopped at traffic light, lost power when exiting highway, lurched while driving on interstate, lights failed then turned back on, flashing failure lights, loss of fuel errors, others. investigation revealed that a faulty design in the car computer housing and location made it possible for dimes to fall from the dash into an opening, which appeared to be a test port, in the computer causing shorts resulting in the sporadic behavior and ultimate complete failure of the unit. the mechanic was able to find technical publications that documented this known defect and the associated dangerous implications.

Transmission is jumping out of gear. transmission is slipping and making a hard jerk between 20-40 mph.

I bought a 2006 nissan maxima milage 68000. after driving it for few months (milage around 97000) the transmission went bad, and started skipping and hard shifting while changing gear from 2nd to 3rd there is hard shifting (jerking) and while shifting from 3rd to 4th gear it skips and the rpm increase while the car does not accelerates at that time. when i googled this issue i found that alot of nissan maxima owners have this issue. i think nissan has a faulty transmission built into these cars. nissan needs to come up with a solution to fix this issue, a recall hopefully !. thanks

6/10/2011 the transmission on my 2006 nissan maxima failed without warning which prevented the car from accelerating. this was while on the turnpike in pa with traffic merging and moving at speeds of up to 75mph. luckily i was able to cost to the side of the road without getting into an accident or causing an accident. upon further reseach i see transmission issues are very common for this make and model car through the production years of 04-07. this is very dangerous and i can see it leading up to and including death due to an accident. the dealer i purchased the car from replaced the transmission under warranty, but i am again having issues with my tranmissions showing signs of failure again. to date, my car has been in the shop for a total of 32 days for the same transmissions issue.

I bought this car two months ago and have been happy with it until now. when i have to back the car up in reverse and then switch into drive it kicks very hard. it started earlier this week and has been doing it ever since. the first time, it kicked so hard that i thought i had hit something, and my passengers were thrown forward so hard that the seat belts took their breath out of them. later that same day i had trouble getting the car to start when i put the key in the ignition nothing happened for several minutes. when i tried again it started up, but kicked again when i switched from reverse to drive.

I took the car into a nissan dealer for a abs issue i have where abs,tcs and slip light is coming on and maken a horrible noise .they told me the actuator and rear hub needed repair for a total of 2270.00 plus tax.this is a major issue and in my opinion as a mechanic should be a national recall, for all the people haven this issue is the united states and canada.

The abs system, specifically the actuator, in the 2006 nissan maxima failed. initially, the abs system would activate every time the brakes are applied. it first occurred on dry pavement at highway speed (55mph) braking and then all subsequent braking thereafter, regardless of speed or road condition. now the car is in fail-safe model where the abs system, traction control system, and electronic brake force distribution are inactive on the vehicle. nissan dealers estimate the fix to be approximately $3000, with the majority of the repair in replacing the abs actuator. the vehicle has never been flooded and has only been in very minor fender-benders (repainting of exterior parts). from my prospective, it seems very unusual for the actuator to go bad and appears to be a defective unit.

I bought the car brand new and have maintained this vehicle with 3k mile oil changes and replaced the tires. it has started to make jerk when shifting from 1-2 gear or 2-3 and recently the engines revs up to 4rpms but does not go any faster. unfortunately my car is out of warranty but from looking around other blogs and forums it looks as this is quite a common problem. the engine is making a noise as if it is running on turbo. i don't understand why there is not a recall there is so many issues with this car its ridiculous. this is the first brand new car i have purchased and i cannot believe how many issues it has.

Unintended acelleration 3 times, each more violent then the first time, of a new 2006 nissan maxima, only 26,000 miles on it, this is the 3rd. time it has happened, on sept. 18, kahului, maui. terrifiying, i could not stop the car at the stop sign of intersecttion, this was the worse of the past two acelleratiions that i had with this car. my husband was with me on the passenger side of car. it took off like a race car i could not break it or stop car from going. had to pull the keys out and put in nuetral, then reverse to get it to stop.! took it to the dealer, jimfalk, the service dept. could not find what is wrong, kept car for a week, driving it to recreate the problem, but it seems to do it after so many months, not back to back, soemthing triggers it off it seems. we are stuck witht his car now, it is dangeorus to drive, as the problem cannot be found. nissan sent a independant investigator to maui to check the car out, nissan headquarters in tennesee said it will take 6-8 weeks to get a answer back to us, meanwhile we ares stuck now with a rental car bill as our warrenty onlycovers a loaner if there is a problem witht he casr to be fixed and so far, the problem annote be found, so we are up the creek so to speak and technically have to wait for another acceleration to take place in which event we could be killed. what can we do? we have rights! some one must be able to find this death feature in our car! help!

2006 nissan maxima se . i have had abs problems for 7 months. the first time the nissan dealer just cleaned the rr wheel sensor and said that would do the job. it worked for about 6 months. now i just had the tsb performed to correct the design flaw of nissan on the rr wheel sensor. after the tsb was performed the dealer came to notice that the abs actuator needed to be replaced. i am still waiting on that job to be performed. i have done some research and this is happening to many nissan maximas from the 2006 generation. i do not feel safe in the car because sometimes it doesnt seem as if it is going to stop. i have almost hit 2 cars because of this design flaw.

Vehicle came equipped with a feaure that allows the side mirrors to tilt down when placed in reverse. however, when the feature is activated for the passenger side mirror, the mirror does not adjust properly back to its normal position, which may hinder drivers view, possibly causing a safety hazard. vehicle was taken to nissan where it was determined that the mirror was defective and needed to be replaced. several weeks later, the replaced mirror began exhibiting same problem as the defective mirror.returned vehicle back to nissan twice and they determined that it was normal. while driving vehicle on highway, passenger side mirror began adjusting on its own to a point where i could not see vehicles alongside the right of the vehicle. vehicle was not even placed in reverse! returned vehicle back to nissan, they determined that mirror needed to be replaced, but at my expense, because warranty expired, despite the fact that i returned the vehicle twice for this problem while under warranty.

Car burns approximately 1 litre per 1500 kilometers. the nissan dealership says that this is burning within their guidelines.

The drivers side seat recently started to rocking toward the drivers side door which alerted me to having a problem. this happens every time i get into the car the seat is leaning to the left door. i contacted the dealer in which i purchased the car, they said it is nothing they can do because the warranty is up. i should contact the manufacture nissan which i have also done . *tr
