Driving to ct car dies in mid momentum and almost causes a serious accident. fought to get over into the breakdown lane almost getting hit by a sixteen wheeler. after a $150 dollar tow the car starts up and i drove it to the dealer the next day. i was told that it was a cam position and cam shaft sensor. total cost $650. take car home two days later the surges started and the car starts sputtering again. currently the car is at the dealer and i am being told that it might be a transmission issue on a car that does not have 60k on it. this is ridiculous how can nissan allow these issues with the cvt go on with doing a recall. i mean i almost lost my life does it take someone to die before something happens.

About 2 weeks ago i changed the battery because it wasn't working anymore, it started with the car losing power just a little bit and then come back when one morning it turned on and then died, i took the battery and got it charged but didn't last long, ended buying a new one. now for the past few days again the car lost starting losing power and back up, till today it completely died. so at the end we figured it was the alternator, found out online about other drivers with same issue with same model and year car and of a recall being done.

The drivers side sun visor failed to keep its 'up position' or in a selected position to shade the driver from the sun. this is a safety hazzard that left uncorrected could result in an accident. nissan has not issued a voluntary recall on the visor even though many people have complainted about the problem.

All four power door lock actuators are bad in the car. this is preventing the doors from properly locking and unlocking. this is a major safety issue for the car. i have looked online and there are hundreds of complaints about door lock actuators on 2004 muranos

The sun visors constantly will not stay up. this happened first on the passengers side and now on the drives side. this is a safety issue! these sun visors falling down can block your vision while you are driving. this is going to cost almost $600.00 to fix at the dealership! this is ridiculous and should be a recall on nissan's part, not charge some outrageous price to fix. i am completely appalled at this.

I have a nissan murano 2004 with approx 66,000 miles...all four actuators failed at the same time. when i looked into this issue on line, i see that many other murano owners have the same issue. when the actuators fail you are no longer able to look the doors, there causing a security issue, especially if you have children. i find it strange that so many people are having the same problem. my husband and parents have 2004 model cars, and have no issues with their looks. please hold nissan responsible for this issue.

All of the door locks do not work. i have had my murano in the shop 3 times and they cannot figure out the problem. i have now spent close to $1000 and the problem is still not fixed! they first replaced a switch in the driver's side door. that did not fix the problem. they then replaced the bcm, the locks worked for about a week and now they are not functioning again. this is a safety hazard because i am a single woman and should be able to lock and unlock my doors as needed. how many people have to file a complaint for the same issue before nissan does something about it??? it is absolutely ridiculous that i should have to spend almost $1000 and still not have functioning door locks!!! i know for a fact the problem is not the solenoids in the doors that control the locks because my repair shop tested each one in each door and they are properly functioning, which is what led us to check the bcm. when it was determined the bcm was bad, i had that replaced but obviously that is not the only problem. please do something about this issue!!!

Driver & passenger side visor keeps falling down when driving. can not see when it falls down, blocks vision. a safety issue and expensive part that i can not afford.

The differential/cvt transfer case is defective. which requires you to have to replace the awd system at a cost of $4-6000. it also cause the car to have steering problems as well. this issue also causes the vehicle to burn a significant amount of fuel which require premium gas.i have read numerous complaints on the web about the same problems other people are having. this causes unnessecary financial hardship as most people are still paying a car loan on this vehicle.

Driver-side sun visor will not stay in place. it is loose and will drop down while driving, blocking visibility.

The driver side sunvisor suddenly fell down striking my wife in the fore head and causing her to run off the roadway. she was safely able to re-enter the roadway without over correcting and having an accident. this has happened several times, finally to the point that i have removed the sunvisor. i have twin seven year olds with autism that ride in this vehicle several times a week. i have read of several other owners of murano's with the same issue. as a police officer and paramedic this is a safety issue that the manufacturer needs to address, before someone is seriously injured.

Automatic left side door lock does not function automatically. front right side and left rear door locks only work intermittently. i have been told door actuators need to be replaced. problem cannot be fixed without complete replacement. this appears to be a problem either with faulty design or production. inability to automatically lock doors from the inside could present safety problem.

When getting out of car to fill gas and upon closing door, the doors are automatic locking, i had children in the car. this car has continue to do this and is serious safety issue. as a female i want to know these locks can be counted on to lock or not when correct. a child could easily get into car and doors lock on there own. this is known issue with nissan

My 2004 nissan murano has a defective driver-side sun visor problem. it keeps falling down and will also not stay up. this is a safety issue because when i am driving the vehicle, the visor will flop down without warning and cause me to become distracted, which could cause me to have an accident. also, if i put it down, it will not stay in the position i place it in. i believe this is a defective part in the nissan murano. i have noticed on the internet that many people have been complaining about this issue and that nissan refuses to cover this under warranty or under a recall. there was even a nissan auto technician who anonymously admitted that this was a mechanical failure because he has to replace the visor part on many vehicles he has worked on. can you do anything about this?

Dear sir, we own a 2004 nissan murano that we bought new in may of 2004. the vehicle has performed great over the years; however, we do have one very important safety issue with the nissan murano which is the driver's side sun visor. as you are driving, the sunvisor will drop down blocking the view of the roadway. i have also spoken with another nissan murano owner who stated that she has experienced the same problem. also, i ran an internet search for problems with a nissan murano sunvisor and discovered numerous blogs submitted by individuals who have experienced the exact same problem with their nissan muranos. i strongly feel that this issue needs to be investigated before someone is very seriously injured or perhaps killed because they were unable to see the roadway.

The car was driven on the high way at 50 mph, when it started to decelerate and would only go over a max speed of 30 mph. even with acceleration, the car would not go over 30 mph. it was driven to the auto repair shop and they declared the transmission had failed and the engine was faulty as well. this car has given us so many problems. this is the third time it had stalled on the highway almost causing accidents and presenting a dangerous situation for my family! this problem needs to be corrected!!!!!!!!! something must be done!

During stop and go traffic, i step on the gas pedal and the car does not move for a few seconds then suddenly the car jerks forward. this happend continiously over the past month. i would like this issue to be investigated and recalled, as this is a big safety concern.

Nissan murano 2004 -- sun visor on drivers side is not staying up. as i am driving ( sometimes with my kids) the sun visor drops down blocking my view. this is a big safety issue and i'm surprised no one has been injured or sued nissan for this. i have noticed many other people have the same complaint. the dealer wants $400.00 to put in a new one -- when this should never happen.

On thanksgiving our 2004 nissan murano started making a banging noise. it continued to get louder and withing about five minutes the car was completely immobilized. the car smelled of transmission fluid. we called nissan and they informed us that the transmission is covered under a 120,000 mile warranty, which is what we thought it was without anyone looking at it yet. we had it towed to apple nissan in york. the service manager then looked at the vehicle and informed us that it is the transfer case not the transmission and that it is not covered under the warranty and that the cost to repair it would be $4000.00. the vehicle is still at apple nissan with the broken transfer case because we cannot afford to replace it.

The sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano suddenly just flops down for no reason while im driving. a few times it has gotten in the way of my direct sight and has caused me to swerve almost getting into an accident. i've replaced the visor once already myself but the new visor is now failing again and nissan won't do anything about it since its been out of warranty for some time now.

Tl-the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph the passenger side sun visor flipped down involuntarily. the sun visor would not remain up when the contact went to flip the visor back up. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed she would have to pay to have the visor replaced. the vehicle was not serviced and the failure has also taken place with the driver side visor. the vehicle was again taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed she would have to pay to have the visors replaced. the vehicle was not serviced. the failure mileage was 74,000 and the current mileage was 80,500. sm.

The sun visor of my nissan murano 2004 on the driver side does not stay up and keeps on falling into my eyes. from the forums i have visited, i have noticed that this is a common problem with murano vehicles. it started almost a year ago. at that time i used to be able to put it up in position and it would stay up for a while, but now the cognition has worsened. now no matter how hard i try, the sun visor would not stay in place and keep on dropping into my eyes. i cannot believe that a reputed car manufacturer like nissan can build such an inferior product. in my mind it is a safety issue and government should ask nissan to stand up to their product and issue a recall. this is not the only problem i am having with this car. other problems are: 1. driver side power seat does not function because some part is broken, but because of this, i need to replace entire mechanism. 2. gas cap cover does not open. i had to spend $400 to get it fixed. 3. there is some engine component that makes internal noise that could make my vehicle stop while diving. i have been told that this costs $4,500. looks like whole car is falling apart in under 60,000 miles. it is incomprehensible that nissan has manufactured this car with built-in obsolescence.

The drivers side sun visor falls down without warning blocking the drivers vision. this happens frequently. the dealer wants $400. to replace the entire visor. i currently use velcro to secure it. but this doesn't work very well. this is a common problem on 2033-2006 nissan muranos and should be a safety recall to correct the issue before someone is seriously injured or killed due to this manufacturing defect.

O own a 2004 nissan murano. my incident relates to the interior sun visor on these vehicles. i hae had these replaced several times now due to the fact they will not hold in place in the upright position. when this part fails the sun visor drops into a position that can partially block drivers vision. the last replacemnt of this part on my vehicle was in early 2008. this part has fail once again and is now partially blocking the drivers vision.

 1. event leading up to the failure - i changed the air cleaner. 2. the engine stops working suddenly while driving. this occurred two times after i had changed the air cleaner. the consequences are that the engine stops running suddenly, without notice, while the vehicle is being operated in traffic. 3. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who performed the repair at no cost in a very short period of time. the service people at the dealer explained that air was leaking in past a sensor that caused the sensor to shut down the engine. the repair consisted of aligning tubes within the air intake system and ensuring they were tight so that no other air could leak in.

2004 nissan murano would periodically not shift from neutral into reverse or park. this problem began to appear about 2 years ago. sometimes the problem lasted for a day or two sometimes for a week or more. it only happened in the winter. the first 2 times i brought it to the dealer they could not find any problem. there is a work around (bypass) for the reverse lockout problem in the owner's manual so the manufacturer was aware of a potential for trouble. about march 2010 the problem appeared and did not disappear. i brought it to the dealer they had the car for 2 days and could not identify the cause. they reccommended replacing the entire shifter. i requested they disconnect the lockout mechanism. they said they couldn't because it was a safety device. so i told them it should be repaired at no cost to me. about a year ago i filed a complaint regarding this problem with nissan. i asked the dealer to talk with nissan and gave them the complaint file #. nissan said the vehicle was no longer under warranty so i had to pay for the repair. my internet search indicates there is a problem with the reverse lockout on the 2004 murano that was covered by nissan in most instances but there is no tsb on the issue and nissan says it is normal wear and tear.

I ran off the left side of a mountain road hitting a large tree with the driver's door, then continued down the hill another ~20 feet slamming into a boulder. when i hit the tree, the driver's door window broke as well as the driver's side rear door. the door was jammed shut. the nissan was equipped with front side impact airbags and both front and rear head protection airbags. none were deployed. when i hit the boulder, the front passenger airbag deployed, but the driver's front airbag failed to deploy. the pre-tensioner on the driver's seatbelt did not latch resulting in me hitting my upper chest and lower jaw on the steering wheel since the airbag did not deploy. the fuel cut-off device also failed to activate and shut off the engine. after almost a minute, i turned off the engine with the key. i had been knocked unconscious for several seconds. the 2004 nissan murano sustained over $25,000 in damage which resulted in it being totaled by my insurance company. the airbag light would illuminate briefly when starting the car prior to the accident. so there was no indication of an airbag malfunction. there was substantial damage to the driver's side of the vehicle as well as the front and undercarriage. my injuries were limited to bruises to my chest and lower jaw. the accident also greatly aggravated a prior injury to my upper back. when i went to go remove my personal belongings from the vehicle, i found that the jack, mounted in the rear floor had come completely out. *tr
