The drivers side sun visor failed to keep its 'up position' or in a selected position to shade the driver from the sun. this is a safety hazard that left uncorrected could result in an accident. nissan has not issued a voluntary recall on the visor even though many people have complained about the problem. *tr

The sun visors constantly will not stay up. this happened first on the passengers side and now on the drives side. this is a safety issue! these sun visors falling down can block your vision while you are driving. this is going to cost almost $600.00 to fix at the dealership! this is ridiculous and should be a recall on nissan's part, not charge some outrageous price to fix. i am completely appalled at this. *tr

The passenger sun visor keeps flopping down and obstructing view. there is a mechanism failure in the spring that holds it up. have seen a number of complaints on blogs about this and even if you order a new visor, mechanism still fails. it is a safety issue and one that does not seem to have a resolution.... it is also on the onus of the driver to deal with a defect.

Driver's side sun visor suddenly flopped down and blocked my wife's view of the road. it will not stay up. after listening to her complaints for weeks, i finally took it the dealership to get a new one. they want $182.59 plus tax just for the part! that doesn't even include labor to install. the dealership told me i was lucky because it used to cost $425. that is ludicrus! i have found dozens of similar complaints on this very website. it is a serious safety issue and it is obviously a systemic problem. i didn't realize how much it affected your driving until i drove it today. we are in the market for a new car and i can guarantee it will not be a nissan or infiniti. $200 for a $20 sun visor is insane!

The weld on the drivers seat frame is fractured. it is a major safety issue and nissan has changed the part from what is originally in the vehicle, although nissan won't admit to a change.

For no visible reason, the driver's side visor dropped down and could not be put back into place. it refuses to stay up. in the down position the view is cut in half and renders the vehicle unsafe for sustained driving. i believe this is a total manufacturer defect.

2004 nissan murano driver's side sun visor repeatedly falls down and will not stay up causing a serious safety issue. the consequences could be fatal if not fixed. i have had 2 incidents where i was close to being hit by another car due to the visor falling. the visor fell as i was approaching an intersection in which it caused me to go through a red light. i have contacted nissan consumer affairs and they told me i had to take it to a dealership for them to verify that it was an issue. i then contacted nissan consumer affairs back to let them know it was verified that it was a problem and that a regional specialist would contact me. i talk to the regional specialist and she needed the documentation from the dealership. she now has it and i'm waiting for a response now. this all started just a couple of weeks ago with nissan. if the safety issue is not resolved by their expense then i'm talking to a good friend that is an investigative reporter for a local news company.

My nissan murano has a defective driver side visor. it constantly falls from the up position into drivers vision. this caused an accident!!! i was traveling downhill on a snow/ice covered road, i hit a bump and the visor fell into my vision i reached to put the visor back into the up position. pushed it into place and it immediately fell again i pushed it back up(distracting my attention from the road in front of me) and noticed a car stopped in the middle of the road, i swerved to miss the stalled car, i avoided hitting the car but as i swerved i ran over black ice the car got sideways and hit a concrete barricade.

Drivers side visor does not stay up and drops down to block driving vision. requires 1 hand to hold visor out of the line of sight to leave one hand only for driving. creates a dangerous driving situation and creates un due anxiety.

I have a 2004 nissan murano. both driver's and passenger's sun visors fall to the down position when the vehicle hits a bump or when the brake is pressed. this can cause a safety hazard as it obstructs my view while driving. the cost to repair or replace the visor seems absurdly high especially when i look at several forums of murano owners having the same problem. i now drive with my hand holding the visor in the up position which is also a hazard because i have to drive with one hand in order to see without the visor falling. i have researched the web and saw several murano owners have the same problem. at what point or how many complaints do you need to receive in order to recall the item? does someone need to get into a serious accident or notify the media to seek action?

Driver's side sun visor on 2004 nissan murano drops suddenly while driving and cblocks view of the road -- signficant safety issue
09/01/2005
Dear sir, we own a 2004 nissan murano that we bought new in may of 2004. the vehicle has performed great over the years; however, we do have one very important safety issue with the nissan murano which is the driver's side sun visor. as you are driving, the sunvisor will drop down blocking the view of the roadway. this is the third time the part has become defective. the first time, the vehicle was under warrant; the second time, we paid for the new sunvisor; and now, the problem has returned. we have contacted nissan concerning the defective sunvisor and we are currently awaiting their response. i have also spoken with another nissan murano owner who stated that she has experienced the same problem. also, i ran an internet search for problems with a nissan murano sunvisor and discovered numerous blogs submitted by individuals who have experienced the exact same problem with their nissan muranos. i strongly feel that this issue needs to be investigated before someone is very seriously injured or perhaps killed because they were unable to see the roadway.

Drivers side sunvisor on a 2004 nissan murano while driving the vehicle, the sunvisor falls from its upright position to the down position, thus blocking the driver's field of view, causing a major safety concern. nissan has issued a service bulletin (#03-081a) covering these visors, which shows that they are aware of the problem. however, they will not stand behind their product to remedy this situation without charging the consumer in excess of $400 - $500 to repair it. there has not been a wreck yet, but its only a mattter of time when the driver cannot see. we have been to the service dept on numerous occasions, but they will not fix the problem. this problem happens constantly while driving.

I own a 2004 nissan murano. front wheel drive. my driver side sun visor does not stay up any more? it started falling down in 2007, by 2009 i had to remove the lighted mirror to decrease the weight so that the visor would not have the added weight pulling the visor down. i tried to wrap duck tape around the visor plastic tab but the visor stills falls after awhile. it now just falls every time i go out for a drive. nissan dealership and auto maker will not make good on this defective product!!!

The driver's side sun visor of my 2004 nissan murano will not stay in the up position. every time you go over the smallest bump it falls down covering the driver's view of the road unexpectedly.
06/16/2009
Sun visor problem: both driver side and passenger side sun visors dont stay up. this is dangerous when i'm driving as it blocks/interferes with my vision! it will stay up for a short period of time, then fall whenever i hit a bump.
05/10/200965000
The drivers side sun visor falls down without warning blocking the drivers vision. this happens frequently. the dealer wants $400. to replace the entire visor. i currently use velcro to secure it. but this doesn't work very well. this is a common problem on 2033-2006 nissan muranos and should be a safety recall to correct the issue before someone is seriously injured or killed due to this manufacturing defect.

O own a 2004 nissan murano. my incident relates to the interior sun visor on these vehicles. i hae had these replaced several times now due to the fact they will not hold in place in the upright position. when this part fails the sun visor drops into a position that can partially block drivers vision. the last replacemnt of this part on my vehicle was in early 2008. this part has fail once again and is now partially blocking the drivers vision.

Sun visors do not stay in clip which allows visor to fall at any time. had the clips replaced under warranty in 2005 but problem is occurring again after warranty expiration. extremely hazardous due to startling distraction. there should be a recall.
05/01/2008
Driver and passenger side sun visor will not remain in the up position. the driver side is the safety hazard; it will fall down without notice. it will not stay up at all now; causing a restricted view. this is the 2nd visor i have had; the first time is was replaced under the warrenty but that has run out and they will not replace it.
01/01/201033000
The sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano fails to stay 'up' out of the driver's vision. it starts to fall unexpectedly and becomes more and more prone to falling into the drivers line of vision. lmy first sun visor failed before i had the car three years but after i had driven 36,000 miles. after a number of phone calls to nissan, they replaced the sun visor. now, approximately three years later, the replacement sun visor also falls iunto my line of sight. this is not repairable: it must be replaced at the cost of over $300 for the part alone, and i expect, from the number of complaints i have seen, that the next visor will also fail.

Sun visor on drivers side drops into line of sight. will not stay in one position
01/01/2009165001
Driver's sun visor has become loose - will not reliably stay in position when in any position except a fully upright one. when lowered to a shade position it will drop lower and block my driving view. this can happen slowly on a smooth road or suddenly when i hit a bump. i have had to use a temporary putty to try to keep it from flopping down. this is a constant problem. i have occasionally had to hold the visor in the needed position when the sun was shining in my face - thus illegally and unsafely driving with one hand. my dealer says it will cost around $400 to replace the visor, money i do not have. my full warranty had run out when this started and the partial warranty did not cover accessories, which is what they claim this is. *tr

Sun visor falls constantly obstructing view while driving.
06/01/200830000
The driver's side sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano drops unexpectedly blocking the view of the road. this is hazardous especially for anyone who is 6' tall or more. this is a well documented defect on most muranos. the dealers refuse to cover the defect under warranty and there needs to be a recall to prevent injury or death.

Sun visor droops on its own from desired position all the way down into line of sight creating a dangerous situation for driving
10/01/200855000
Sun visor will not stay up on drivers side.when it drops it blocks my vision. no matter how many times you raise it up it falls down almost immediately and you must use one hand to hold it up.i don't have 400 to replace it and the dealer will not even give a discount.
03/16/201040000
Driver's side sun visor constantly fails by falling from the up position while driving. dealer's remedy is to replace, since there is no repair available for an obviously defective product. this is a major safety concern since the visor falls down in the driver's line of sight.

2004 nissan murano sl. sun visor fall down and won't stay in the up position. while driving the driver side visor will fall blocking the drivers view. the visor either needs to be held in the up position, or turned to the side to keep from blocking view forward, but with visor turned to the side it blocks the side view. this has not been replaced as of yet due to a new visor costing over 320.00. i have talked to the dealership and seen on several forums where this is a very common and unsafe problem. *tr

Nissan murano 2004: driver visor no longer stays in upright position and can fall randomly during driving. there are dozens of similar reports on the internet regarding this. i reported this as a safety issue to my local nissan dealer and national nissan and they fail to consider it a safety issue - they want me to pay $300 to replace the visor. the visor is very large, and when the visor drops straight down, it can completely obscure vision out the windshield. i am afraid to continue driving this car. *tr

The driver side sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano falls when ever i hit a bump in the road. there has not been an accident yet but when it falls it causes me to loose sight of the road in front of me and also causes me to take my attention off of driving while trying to fix it. this is a very dangerous situation. *tr

Own a 2004 nissan murano and it is a common problem for sun visors to fail and hang straight down while driving obstructing your view of the road. nissan probably does not show alot of replacement visor being sold since they charge over $300.00 for each visor. just came from dealer and he said it was a common problem and to just use velcro????? *tr

The sun visor will not stay up. it falls down, constantly and blocks my husband's view (he is taller). it doesn't block my view, but is startling when it drops down and it does restrict my field of vision. this is not covered under my extended warranty. it is a $300 + replacement. i have read several different forums concerning this problem and there are people who have replaced the same part more than once. *tr

Driver-side sun visor will not stay in place and falls, blocking driver's view. the only alternative is to not use it and keep it in the up position; however, without being able to use this to block the sun, the morning and late afternoon will blind you. sunglasses do not help that much. i emailed nissan about this app. one year ago but never received a reply. the extended warranty will not cover it, either. there are complaints about this from others that i have found online. replacement cost is expensive, about $240 and entire visor must be replaced, not just a part of it. *tr

The sun visor no longer stays in the mid-position. when flipping it down, it will only go in one position - completely down. luckily i am short and can see under it to drive, although it prevents my being able to see very far ahead without having to dip my head to do so. if i were any taller, this would be a major safety problem. there is apparently no fix for this without replacing the whole visor, which i am told is unreasonably expensive. *tr

Driver's side visor will fall down unexpectedly blocking driver's view. started out only 1 or 2 times per week, when you hit a dip or bump. now falls down 15 to 20 times per day at random times. we have velcroed it to the ceiling (which is very unattractive) and doesn't work 100% of the time. dealer has no suggestions other than total replacement. have also had both passenger and driver's side locks fail and have to be replaced. just quit unlocking. windshield had to be replaced after rearview mirror fell off along with a huge chunk of the windshield. bose 6-cd player quit working over 2 years ago. driver's side seat moves when you accelerate or stop. *tr

Interior sun visors in 2003-2008 nissan muranos fail to stay in position and swing down in the driver's face. this occurrence is well documented and i have only heard of one case in which a nissan dealer covered the replacement under the extended warranty. i was told by the dealer that the extended warranty does not cover trim parts, even when i insisted it is a safety issue. nissan quotes $300 per visor to replace, but there is no guarantee that the new visor won't break. if you google nissan murano sun visor you will get thousands of hits of people who are having the same problem. the nissan dealer would not reason with me that it is a safety issue when i brought it to them while still under warranty and they would not replace it. there was a recall on the clip that holds the visor, but this is a different issue. there is something wrong with these visors internally that cause them to drop and hang right in your line of sight. i have temporarily remedied the problem by affixing velcro to the ceiling, but i cannot use my visor when the sun is in my eyes. this is a serious safety hazard and should be recalled by nissan. i have put together a 20 page document of all the complaints i have found online relating to this issue, and i am determined to hold nissan accountable for this problem. *tr

The passenger side sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano falls down unexpectedly while driving. this is happening at least twice a day now. i checked with the dealer and they said it is not covered under my extended warranty. it is very expensive to replace and after looking in the nissan forum it seems that this is a widespread problem. most consider it to be a safety issue. the visor does not drop completely but at an angle even with the passengers forehead. in the event of a collision a passenger's forehead would hit the edge of the visor causing a head injury and possible death. *tr

I have a 2004 nissan murano se. the driver's side sun visor will not stay up and is a driving hazard as it keeps falling in my face if i hit a bump or brake. nissan quoted me $400 to fix the problem and i can't afford it. i did a search online and found this is a known issue with this same vehicle years 2004 and up. i tried velcro and glue with no success. now with a teenage driver, i'm very concerned for her when she drives my car. *tr

On my 2004 murano driver side sun visor falls down unexpectedly, quite often. in traffic, it's dangerous. dealer says not a warranty item, can fix for $400. i say it is a safety item, manufacturer must fix. this has been going on for two years. temporary (but unsatisfactory) fix is with velcro. *tr

The drivers side sun visor falls unexpectedly into the view of the driver. there is no warning and it is sudden. this blocks the view of the driver and could possibly cause a wreck. nissan will not fix the problem under an extended warranty. quotes have been around $400 to fix the problem that is a safety problem. *tr

The sun visor on my car keeps (flopping) down and falling into my view, restricting my sight while i am driving. i t will not stay in the up position. a few times i had some close calls, but no actual incident. the dealer said that it was not under warranty any longer and it would cost approx. $250 to fix...if i had the $ to fix it i would, but i don't. also, i feel that they should fix it...the warranty was only a few months over. *tr

The passenger side sun visor in our 04 nissan murano began to be hard to move up or down about 4 months ago. eventually, something inside the visor just gave up, and the visor started falling down under it's own weight. it will not stay up. the driver side visor is beginning to be hard to move now, and if it follows the pattern of the other visor, it will fail soon. i have contacted nissan customer service. they had me take it to the local dealer. dealer confirmed that it has failed and advised customer service of same. he also told them that driver side visor would probably fail soon. standard 36 month warranty will no longer cover visors as it has long since run out. i have the 100,000 mile extended warranty, but it will not cover the visors. i advised customer service that this is a safety issue, since the visor fall while driving, and obstructs the driver's vision, requiring driver to constantly lean over and push the visor back up. i also advised that i have never owned a vehicle that had visors that failed. they informed me that the warranty that would have covered the visors has expired, and they could not help me replace them. i informed them that this is not an isolated problem. there are many people on the internet who have had or are having the same problem. *tr

2004 nissan murano - in mid march 2008, my driver side sun visor (lighted w/extension) fell down and no longer was able to remain in the up position. the visor cannot remain in any position other than a 90 degree angle perpendicular to the ground. there is no way to keep the visor up or adjust it to remain at an angle. it is completely useless and seriously obstructs forward visibility when driving, especially on sunny days. since march 2008, i have had several near accidents. there is no way to fix the visor without replacing it. the cost of replacement is approx. $300. searches on the internet reveal there are numerous other murano owners experiencing the same problem. *tr

I have a 2004 nissan murano sl. at about 40,000 miles, my driver side sun visor started falling. it will not stay in position, and hangs right in front of my face, unless i keep it tacked up with velcro. the passenger side visor also swings down sometimes, but not as bad as the driver side. i did an internet search on murano sun visor and found out very quickly that this is a widespread problem that needs to be addressed by nissan with a full resolution; i.e. recall. the dealer wants nearly $300 to replace one visor, which is likely to break again, according to several accounts in the message boards. this is a serious safety issue. i have almost had two collisions because of it, and once, i ran a red light because of it falling down. if i keep it tacked up, then of course there are times of the day when the sun is blinding me, so it is not safe no matter what i do. *tr

I have just purchased a 2004 nissan murano and have been reading on the forum websites regarding the sun visor. my sun visor will not stay up on it's own in this vehicle. it may stay up for a few minutes, but if you hit a bump wrong the sun visor can swing down and block view of the windshield. this visor will also not stay up towards the windshield when i actually want to use it to block the sun so i can see. i feel it is a safety concern since i don't know when the sun visor will flip down and block my view of the road unexpectedly. *tr

The sun visor on my 2004 nissan murano (with 25k miles) failed some time back, where it will not always stay in the up position, and unexpectedly falls blocking the field of vision. it is completely unusable in the side window position, and completely unpredictable in the front position. this caused a near wreck. while doing some online research i discovered this is a common problem with this vehicle. the dealers answer is to sell me a $300(!!!!) sun visor, plus installation. this is a clear mfg defect as no other car i've ever owned has had this problem in any amount of time or mileage. *tr

Drivers side sun visor consistently falls down while driving. this happens approximately every minute-two minutes on smooth freeways and surface streets. when this occurs, it blocks half of your vision to the road. the first time it happened, i was driving on the freeway with my infant son. i feel that this is an extremely dangerous defect and, apparently, i am by no means that only one having this problem. to replace the part is almost $300 according to the dealer and, according to message boards, replacements have not bee working either. in arizona, there is no way to go completely without a sun visor, but having it flop down in your face each minute is unacceptable. please do something about this. thank you for your time! please feel free to contact me with any questions. *tr

I have a 2004 nissan murano se. at approximately 50,000 miles, the drivers' side sun visor had some sort of internal mechanical failure which makes it fall down in front of my face while driving. my extended warranty company refuses to fix it, claiming it is a trim item, and the dealership claims it is no longer their problem as the car isn't under warranty. however, it seems to me that this is a safety item, since every time it falls down, it obscures my view of the roadway. when i searched online, i found many other nissan murano owners on online forums complaining of the same issue with their 2003 through 2006 muranos with relatively low mileage failures of this particular part. *tr

There seems to be a defect in the wiper system on the murano. after a snowstorm i cleaned the windshield of snow and turned on the wipers. snow blew off the top of the car, the right wiper pushed it down. as a result the right wiper could not go down completely. this threw off the timing of the left and right wiper and the two got tangled and bend. a new left wiper was ordered and paid for from nissan on feb 3, 2004. in the meantime the wiper were bend back into position. earlier this week it snowed again sand the same thing happened and now the wipers are totally mangled. it has been over 3 weeks since i paid for a new wiper and the parts dept at nissan in englewood cliffs nj tells me they are on back order and cannot be obtained. the service dept at the same dealer tells me the wipers shouldn't be used when there is snow. i would like to know if i am the only one with the problem why is there a backorder. the car cannot be used in the rain nor snow. *nm
