All of my locks no longer work. i have seen countless complaints about this very issue and nothing is getting done about it. i thought nissan was suppose to be one of the best out there. i'll never buy another nissan again if they continue not to assist their customers. i also have the air intake issue, thankfully that was recalled and will be fixed. i had to replace the front struts, oil cooler gasket, front sway bar links and the battery has been changed 3 times now. very disappointed with nissan and so embarrassed to even talk about the issues with this car. :( *tr

Passenger door does not lock or unlock from the outside. rear hatch door does not unlock and will not open. i checked online and there are hundreds of complaints about nissan murano lock actuators posing problems and not working. nissan dealerships charge approximately $500 to fix each actuator, which seems extremely unfair considering it appears to be such a common defect. this is not only an unnecessary and preventable problem, but can be an extremely safety hazard. *tr

2005 nissan murano sl with only 58,000 miles on it has the seat defect where it is stuck and won't move forward and back. it appears that the bracket system attachment to the floor has become broken. this is a dangerous manufacture defect that can cause accidents and the car to be unable to drive. the repair for this is quoted at $1,500. nissan should recall these and fix them on their own cost, not the consumer. *tr

The locks on the doors will sporadically lock or unlock and i am afraid my child may get locked in the car one day if keys are left in passenger seat when walking around vehicle to get child. this poses a serious threat to children or anyone in an unsure environment. *tr

Nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive thinks the door is locked, when in reality it's an open door for carjacking or robbery. this failure is an intermittent of operation. sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. in addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. 3. in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. and the murano's design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. i can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency when they virtually have no experience with it. in emergencies every second counts. the locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced (as quoted by dealers) will forgo getting them fixed, putting their family members at risk with the above mishap examples. this shouldn't be, nissan should recall them. it's only a matter of time till someone gets robbed, hurt or killed from a malfunctioning door lock, disabling the security which the driver thinks he has when he locks the car. it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. *tr

I was driving when all at about 30 mph when all of the sudden my lights (service engine, battery.) on dashboard turn on and the speed of my car was reduced drastically. i was able to drive my car to a speed of no more than 5mph. i park and after that my car had to be tow away. i was told by nissan dealership where i bought the car that it was the alternator and it had to be replaced. to my knowledge there is a recall for nissan murano 2005 alternators. *tr

I have had intermittent problems opening the front driver side door with the keyless remote for 2 1/2 years and recently it has become a problem 99% of the time. about a month ago i discovered one of my rear doors was unlocked when it should not have been. yesterday when a passenger tried to get in the back door on the opposite side it would not unlock even when using the interior button. i'm sure it's only a matter of time before the only properly functioning door stops working and the gas cap will no longer open. how do you open the gas cap with a faulty locking mechanism?? is there a way to open it manually?? there is also a question of safety if doors cannot be locked and unlocked with the interior lock button....risk of car jacking, theft. emergency personnel could not gain quick access in the event of an accident or fire or submersion when every second counts, especially involving infants and small children in car seats (or elderly) who can't or don't know how to manually unlock the door. lives are at risk! the cost to repair one door is astronomical let alone having to repair three or all four. this is a widespread nissan defect that they refuse to acknowledge and repair. i have always been a big nissan fan and this is the third nissan i have owned. i will not buy another one if they don't step up and fix this problem. we owners of these vehicles are reminded daily of the safety issues every single time we enter and exit our cars and have to manually check each door to make sure they are all locked. a recall needs to be issued. this is a safety concern. *tr

Front door locks don't work with remote or proximity fob.
05/18/2011105000
Door locks not functioning properly. will not lock/unlock from fob or interior switch on the interior of the vehicle. this is a safety concern because in the event of a crash you may not be able to unlock the doors to exit the vehicle or it may prevent emergency medical personnel to easily gain access to the vehicle. it is also a concern because it can potentially leave the vehicle vulnerable to potential theft of items in the interior of the vehicle since they don't reliably lock.

Driver's door and rear passenger door locks will not lock when actuated from the door power lock or the remote power lock. this is a danger because it means door locks can not be relied to power lock or unlock in the event of an emergency.

2005 nissan murano door lock actuators have gone bad. i have googled this on line and have found nearly every owner has had electrical problems with this vehicle - this being one of the number one issues. however, nissan refuses to issue a recall and fix this problem. what is it going to take? how many people have to have this problem before they realize that it is something they did wrong in the manufacturing of this vehicle? am i really going to have to pay $1600 to repair this on a 6 year old car? not good customer service nissan!!!

All 5 of the door locks on my 2005 nissan murano have failed within the last year. i replaced the driver's door lock acuator assembly when the lock would not lock or unlock with the key fob or button on the door. since then all of the other door locks, including the lift gate, have experienced the same problem. this is a safety issue. in the event of an emergency, such as a fire, i would not be able to unlock all the doors so passengers could escape. if i were being stalked, i would not be able to lock all the doors quickly. the door lock problem that i have described is being experienced by 2004 - 2010 nissan murano and maxima owners around the country. nissan needs to recall these vehicles and fix them!

On september 17, my driver's door would not open with the keyless entry or with the actual key. i called nissan of queens to state again that something fraudulent was done to my car since my initial visit on september 4. they advised me to come in to check the problem. however, past experience leads me to believe it will be to fix the door, charge me some ridiculous amount, and then create another malfunction. this new malfunction will have me coming back the next week for a repeat of this fraudulent service. my car is breaking down before my eyes and i cannot understand why nissan would let this happen to a loyal customer. as you know tampering with my car door can be harmful to my person in the following ways: 1.having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. when locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. if anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2.there is a security problem with nissan locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive thinks the door is locked, when in reality it's an open door for carjacking or robbery. 3.in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. the locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced (as quoted by dealers). *tr

The air bag indicator light is flashing in the dash again. i had this problem fixed once before while still under warranty at the north little rock dealership. on leaving the garage within just a mile, i made a left turn and heard a crunching noise in the steering column and it came back on. i went strait back and they said they would fix it but the (second replacement part) wouldn't be in till the next day so i was given a loaner for one day. now it's back on again. also noted shortly after the warranty expired that the lumbar support on the drivers side no longer inflates/deflates and hasn't worked since. i have had all recalls fixed and had to replace the battery at 37,000 miles at my cost. also had to have the dealership resurface both front rotors and replace a rear caliper under warranty that had locked up 1 & 1/2 years ago. i see that the front rotors are in need of resurfacing again even though the break pads have 1/2 of there wear left to go. due to the highly chromed /curved dipstick, getting an accurate oil level reading is not possible at any time, so the dipstick has only been removed three time since purchasing it as it is a pointless endeavor. i own six autos that range in age from 1972 threw this 2005 murano and of all of them, the murano is the least trusted one. i will never own another nissan. *tr

Nissan's recall on the 2005 murano states that the vehicle falls into a failsafe condition which limits vehicle speed. very shortly after this, the engine will stop running...could result in a crash. my vehicle had done that 4 times. two times in heavy traffic. you have about a minute to get to the shoulder before the vehicle stops. in that minute, the vehicle is rapidly decelerates to a crawl. i was nearly rear ended by a toyota sequoia. dominion nissan fixed my vehicle and assured me it would not happen again. a few month later, as i neared my home, it happened again. the alternator was replaced pursuant to the recall notice. on january 11, 2008 i left work and headed for the interstate. the vehicle decelerated from 50mph to a crawl within about a minute. dangerously made it to the shoulder. had this happen several moment later i would have been trying to merge onto the interstate, in rush hour, in a construction zone. i could easily have been killed in such a circumstance. nissan fixed the car again. it happened again on january 19, 2008. they want to fix it again. i said that they should replace the vehicle. i filed a complaint on jan 21 by phone, jan 27 by email and jan 28 by letter. nissan and the dealer have not responded. *tr

Vehicle has entered fail-safe mode at least 8 times in the past year. dealership has had the vehicle no less than 7 times following fail-safe events. ground wire to ecm svc bulletin was completed. recalled alternator was replaced (after 4th event). airbag sensor and airbag spiral cable were replaced following separate events. currently, carmd tool is giving a p2135 error code, and states that latest event was caused by throttle position sensor/switch and/or an a /b electrical voltage correlation error. all fail-safe mode events occurred during high-speed (55-65 mph) traffic on multi-lane highways, with the exception of the latest event. three times, entry into fail-safe mode created extremely hazardous situations and near-accidents. each time, after the ignition was switched off, the vehicle has restarted in normal operating mode, but the mil came on and stayed on until vehicle was serviced by dealership. *tr

Exiting parking lot onto roadway, engine hesitation with little acceleration, awd lock comes on, service engine soon comes on. turn off roadway, shut off vehicle and restart, no acceleration power, malfunction indicator lights still on - cannot drive vehicle. next morning towed to dealership; report is a code u1000 - electrical and ground wire problem. tsb procedure followed based on the code. however, tsb says it applies to the code only when no malfunction indicators lights are on. therefore, i do not believe problem is fixed. also, since then a vibration is detected through the gas pedal when accelerating. service manager and tech test drove and stated there was something detected but no fix since there is no tsb for this kind of problem.

The current description has to do with mechanical defects: i leased a brand new 2005 nissan murano in april 2005, and in august of that year the car had major mechanical malfunctions that included: abs light came on , internal failure of abs actuator, and right front abs sensor, engine probelms with loss of power, and acceleration . nono current through pin connectors. had to replace ecm. engine light came on , internal failure to throttle body, all wheel drive light came on. they replaced the alternator, i also had internal failure of a/c amplifier. my car was in the shop from 8/5/05 - 9/13/05 a total of 39 days! i called nissan about complying with the lemon law and to now they have declined to cooperate. i am currently seeking legal representation in this matter.*ak

My 6-month pregnant wife was driving our new murano when all the sudden the car's service engine light went on and the car wouldn't go beyond a few miles an hour on the interstate. although she made it home safe, when we had it towed to the dealer they told us that there was nothing wrong with the car. since their computer didnt recognize a problem, the technician wouldnt look at it. a few weeks later, the same thing happened again to us and when we took it in again the dealer seemed ignorant of the recall. we received the recall notice in between incidents and couldnt get an appt right away. when i showed him the form, he said that the alternator probably didnt need to be replaced but that they'd look at it. it's frustrating that we have to fight so much to get this issue resolved.

On the date listed, while entering traffic flow from a parking lot, my 2005 nissan murano suddenly lost power and enter the fail safe (limp home) mode where the vehicle had no acceleration. this was a sudden failure and there had been nor were there any indications of any developing problems with the vehicle. the only warning light was the mil and the physical loss of power. there was no accident, but the failure could have resulted in a t-bone collision since the oncoming traffic was approaching at 50 mph and there was virtually no right hand emergency pull-off area on the roadway to safely place the vehicle outside travel lanes. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for under warranty repair. this repair took less than an hour and the cause of the problem was describe to me as a dirty or loose electrical ground to the ecm. *jb
