All of my locks no longer work. i have seen countless complaints about this very issue and nothing is getting done about it. i thought nissan was suppose to be one of the best out there. i'll never buy another nissan again if they continue not to assist their customers. i also have the air intake issue, thankfully that was recalled and will be fixed. i had to replace the front struts, oil cooler gasket, front sway bar links and the battery has been changed 3 times now. very disappointed with nissan and so embarrassed to even talk about the issues with this car. :(

Nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive thinks the door is locked, when in reality it's an open door for carjacking or robbery. this failure is an intermitance of operation. sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. in addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. 3. in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. and the murano's design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. i can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency when they virtually have no experience with it. in emergencies every second counts. the locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced (as quoted by dealers) will forgo getting them fixed, putting their family members at risk with the above mishap examples. this shouldn't be, nissan should recall them. it's only a matter of time till someone gets robbed, hurt or killed from a malfunctioning door lock, disabling the security which the driver thinks he has when he locks the car. it's a lawsuit waiting to happen

I have had intermittent problems opening the front driver side door with the keyless remote for 2 1/2 years and recently it has become a problem 99% of the time. about a month ago i discovered one of my rear doors was unlocked when it should not have been. yesterday when a passenger tried to get in the back door on the opposite side it would not unlock even when using the interior button. i'm sure it's only a matter of time before the only properly functioning door stops working and the gas cap will no longer open. how do you open the gas cap with a faulty locking mechanisim?? is there a way to open it manually?? there is also a question of safety if doors cannot be locked and unlocked with the interior lock button....risk of car jacking, theft. emergency personnel could not gain quick access in the event of an accident or fire or submersion when every second counts, especially involving infants and small children in car seats (or elderly) who can't or don't know how to manually unlock the door. lives are at risk! the cost to repair one door is astronomical let alone having to repair three or all four. this is a widespread nissan defect that they refuse to acknowledge and repair. i have always been a big nissan fan and this is the third nissan i have owned. i will not buy another one if they don't step up and fix this problem. we owners of these vehicles are reminded daily of the safety issues every single time we enter and exit our cars and have to manually check each door to make sure they are all locked. a recall needs to be issued. this is a safety concern.

I (female) loaded my trunk to empty my classroom for the summer. i filled my trunk with heavy boxes that needed to be moved. once i got to where i was going my trunk would not open. i had to lay the seats down and pull everything out that way. then it happened again when i had small children at the grocery and they had to stand beside the car b/c the trunk would not open for me to load it. also my driver door will only lock or unlock with a key not the remote. i go to the places alone or with only small children quite a bit and do not feel this is safe. there have been people all over the us with problems on their muranos and other nissan vehicles dealing with the locks. some even are unable to get their gas door to open!! nissan refuses to admit this is a problem. for the safety of everyone driving a nissan, this needs to be looked at. it would be very disturbing to be approached by a stranger in a parking lot and not be able to get away because the door won't open or to be unable to put gas in your vehicle b/c the door wouldn't open. the safety of children also comes into play when a door will not open.

The vehicle does not go when you press the gas. it stalls extremely bad. it hasnt caused me a wreck --yet but it is going to happen. i have 2 young boys(age 6 &4) and i am scared for them to be in the car with me. i can not pull out in front of anyone because it takes so long for the acceleration to pick up. i like the looks of my murano and i bought it sayingit is a nissan so it will last but i am starting to doubt that seriously!! this is my 2nd nissan vehicle and if this part cant be recalled then it will be my last and i will spread the word. this cvt problem is a safety issue for so many owners yet nissan refuses to do anything. i am very disappointed and hate to sell my murano but that looks like what i will have to do and take a huge loss on it also because of the cvt needing replaced. makes the car not worth the nada or blue book at all.!!!!

The sun visers refuse to stay up while driving and make driving unsave.

Door locks not functioning properly. will not lock/unlock from fob or interior switch on the interior of the vehicle. this is a safety concern because in the event of a crash you may not be able to unlock the doors to exit the vehicle or it may prevent emergency medical personnel to easily gain access to the vehicle. it is also a concern because it can potentially leave the vehicle vulnerable to potential theft of items in the interior of the vehicle since they don't reliably lock.

When driving over a bump or driving on a bumpy road the driver's side sun visor falls or drops down unexpectedly. it appears that the visor is not tightly held by the bracket that it sits on. when this occurs, there is complete loss of vision through the front windshield. when driving at higher speeds (or any speed for that matter), this loss of vision might cause an accident if the visor is not raised up quickly enough. i have researched this problem online and i have found that there are many, many other nissan murano owners with the same complaint, especially for owners with model years 2005, 2006 and 2007. this is definitely something that should be investigated before there are any serious accidents or loss of life as a result of this defect. this is something that should be recalled and replaced with a new sun visor. the passenger's side sun visor does not exhibit this behavior. this situation has happened to me numerous times.

I am writing to inform you of my problems occurring with my 2005 nissan murano sl vin# jn8az08wx5w400904. i purchased my car from your dealership in 2005 and have gone for all of my service needs to your facility. there have been 3 different instances in which i have taken my car into your service department for issues/problems with the transfer case / cvt unit. today january 5,2012, i called nissan services regarding the same issue again with my transfer case and was informed to bring it into your service department. i brought the car in and informed the front desk of the problem. four hours later, i was informed that yes the transfer case was cracked but it would not be repaired because it was not the same problem from before and because i was out of warranty. i have 3 seperate service orders from the other repairs from your department that clearly state what the issue/problem was the transfer case was replaced due to damage. i have been a loyal customer for the past 7 years and am disappointed in the service received regarding a known ongoing issue with the cvt / transfer case of the murano, and feel that this problem should be covered and resolved at no cost to me. attached please find the 3 service order numbers i am refering to regarding repairs to the cvt / transfer case 11/17/08 - nics129368 5/14/09 - 6004693-1 10/28/10 - 6026212-3

The sun visor in my nissan murano flips down and does not stay up while driving. this is a safety hazard as it suddenly drops down on slightest of bumps and blocks the visibility.

Airbag light flashing, both front door locks quit working at the same time along with the hatch lock that gets stuck, now the sun visor on drivers side is falling down.

When driving my nissan murano especially on hot days/in stop & go traffic, the vehicle fails to respond to the depression of the accelerator. when it happens (~1x/week), the vehicle will be at a complete stop & not begin to accelerate after depressing the accelerator until around 3k rpms. the problem is resolved by cycling the vehicle off then on, given that the driving conditions don't remain in the form which appeared to initiate the incident. in one instance (and only once), the vehicle was left running, with the a/c on while i made a quick run into a convienence store. after backing out of the parking space without a problem, the vehicle exhibited it's slight hesitation while in drive, but then lurched forward at ~3k rpms, and acquired the desired speed and manuevers. after waiting at the light just outside of the parking lot, the vehicle would not respond to the depression of the accelerator in the form of movement. that is, the engine would rev to as much as 5k rpms, but not move more the .5-1mph. the usual cycling of the engine off & then on, would not resolve the problem. the next destination was nearby (1mi.) & downhill, so i was able to coast, in neutral, to that location whilst being honked at & nearly rear-ended by oncoming traffic. after the vehicle had sat at that location for ~3hrs, there were no other problems of the like. it is worth mentioning the hesitation problem was not experienced for the remainder of the day. however, it wasn't too long before the original problem returned. no check engine light, no other mechanical issues i have noticed. no correlations other than that of temperature and/or stop and go traffic. another important note is that those correlations are not dependent upon each other; the problem can/does occur in the absence of either. however, it is typically not seen without at least one of those factors present.

2 tpms sensors failed and cost $285 to replace. batteries failed in each sensor requiring a full replacement of each unit. tire pressure light would come on after 10 miles, leading the driver to believe that there was a pressure problem when there really was not an issue, which could create a safety concern.

My driver's side sun visor would not remain in the up position. when vehicle went in @ 30 days or so, i reported this with some other minor needed repairs. it was the dealership on pearl rd., route 42 in brunswick that also handled subaru's. it was originally a leased vehicle under allied leasing. i reported problem again at approximately 24 months. then - i reported it again when car went in for service in january of 2011. visor no longer adjustable - won't remain in up position - flops down in front of your eye blocking vision constantly. replacement estimate from dealer $300-$400 for part even if we install ourselves! important - repeating problem back to 1996 sentras. many complaints found on the internet! nissan refused to repair under warranty as well as post warranty! you are either trying to see underneath it...swing it to the side out of the way - but then your eyes have no protection against blinding sunlight! not only dangerous - but uncomfortable and inconvenient. i would have no problem paying if visor was reasonably priced - but nissan prices it obscenely!
01/10/2010
Driving is the event leading to the failure. driver's side sun visor will not stay in the up position and falls down in front of drivers eyes without warning or hesitation. this will lead to accident due to the driver losing eye contact with traffic and the road.

On 08/10/2010 we paid our local nissan dealer $470.93 to repair the driver side door lock. before the repair the driver's door we could not open with the key fob or with the interior manual lock. we had to use the door key. now all the other doors are acting the same way. they do not unlock or lock with the key fob or interior manual lock. note: there is only one key hole on the exterior of the car. this is a huge safety issue. numerous times we have had children in the back seat that we can't get out of the car without having to climb over and manually switching the door from locked to unlocked. also, when we think the door is locked it sometimes isn't, which is another safety issue. nissan wants us to pay to have each door fixed. i have never had a car that i couldn't get in or couldn't get out of. i believe this is a huge safety issue and would like a recall on this car and have nissan reimburse me for the driver door lock that i already paid.

Like everyone else here my 2005 nissan murano sun visor driver's side won't stay up and it flops down. i agree that this is a very serious safety issue. i refuse to pay $500 to have a defect originally from nissan repaired properly. the visor is totally loose and won't stay up nor will it stay put to block the sun since it's so loose that it simply flops straight down. i have resorted to using duck tape to tape it in the up position so it doesn't flop down when i hit a bump traveling down the road at 70+ mph. it's a serious safety issue and i'm mad as *** about it. the passenger side has a similar problem but it's not as bad - probably just due to less usage on the passenger side.

2005 nissan murano sun visor on the driver's seat falling off suddenly and blocking driver vision
10/23/201048000
The driver side sun visor will fall down from any postion and block visabily out of the windshield. it will also scare the driver causing hands to leave the steering wheel in self preservation and to move the visor out of the viewing area. this does not happen all of the time. so each time it does happen iit is a shock to the driver. there is no aftermarket repair. the dealer wants in excess of $300 to replace it. there is no guarentee that the replacement will not perform as the original. i have tried to velcro the visor in the up position but velcro will not stick to the head liner very well. also i need the visor in more than just an up or down position.

Failure of door locking mechanism was first noticed when fuel filler door would not open; remote key recycled several times and fuel-filler door opened. next time, several months later, the right passenger door would not open by passenger. again, remote key recycled several times and door opened. yesterday, when trying to unlock the trunk lid the door-lock/unlock mechanism failed and trunk lid and right front passenger door were both impossible to open. after many attempts using both the remote keypad and using the manual key method the doors were finally unlocked. to test the system , the doors were locked using the manual key and both the trunk lid and the right front passenger doors remained unlocked. the system is unreliable for security purposes and potentially life-threatening in case the passengers needed to egress the vehicle quickly in case of being stalled on railroad tracks, fire or in a water submersion situation.

Without warning, the driver's side visor of my 2005 nissan murano disconnected and blocked my vision while driving. since then it does not stay in place and is a constant disturbance while driving because it does not stay in place. i was advised that it is not covered on my extended warranty. i did some internet research and discovered that this is an ongoing problem with this model car. if you complain enough, some dealers have replaced it for no charge. in my case i was given a quote of $320 to replace it.

The failure is with my 2005 nissan murano. the sun visor on the driver side no longer works property and drops down blocking my eye line. without having it tapped up in place it could cause a serious accident. nissan claims it is not a defect although there are thousands of people online with the same exact problem. i can't afford $350 to get a new one and nissan refuses to help out their loyal customers. a recall needs to happen in order to fix all of the visors. i don't remember the exact date it started falling, so i'm putting an estimate.

I have a 2005 nissan murano with approximately 73000 miles on it. approximately 6000 miles ago, i had to replace the transfer case which cost $3600 to replace. nissan did not cover it while the dealership repair manager did say it was defective and not my fault. in fact, my car repair person has said it is 1/5th the size of a transfer case of a jeep cherokee, a car the same size of my murano. therefore, it is a design defect. the cvt now is needing repair. and, possibly the transfer case will be needing replacement as well. not a well built car, in my opinion

This was the third time the air intake hose fell off while the car was in motion causing the engine to instantly stall leaving the car disabled with no steering control. the first two times were in residential areas, but the third time was on a heavily traveled road at night causing a serious and extremely dangerous situation. the car was almost struck several times while i was removing my toddler from the backseat of the disabled car. each of the three times the car has stalled i brought the car to nissan the next day and they said they previously replaced a different recall part in the air intake system, but the way the car was designed made the other end of the air intake hose likely to fall off due to vibration. they showed me how removing the air filter during routine maintenance can loosen the air intake hose, even when the clamp is tightened. i asked them to fix this problem and they said there was nothing they could do, it was just the way the hose was designed. i cannot imagine what could have happened if i had taken the highway home and the car had stalled at higher speeds. the suggested fix from nissan was to tighten the hose clamps each time the car is used, but it has happened three times now supposedly after the clamps were tightened by nissan service mechanics. this seems to be a serious defect and i am grateful that nobody hit us while the car was stalled. after three times, i am too scared to ever drive the car again.

2005 murano sun visors broke and fell half way down blocking some of my driving view. they want over $325.00 for a new one times 2 = $650.00 without any assurance that replacements will not do the same. the only answer i get is out of warranty. perhaps you could give me some help to remedy this issue short of sewing a snap to the roof. thank you for any cooperation.

Door locks does not work as intended having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. when locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. if anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. if the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. it's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. the drive thinks the door is locked, when in reality it's an open door for carjacking or robbery.

Failure of the driver's side sun visor on 2005 nissan murano staying in a fixed position. the sun visor does not stay in the set positon and tilts down fully and blocks the drivers field of view when driving. this creates a dangerous safety issue of drivers of the nissan murano

The driver's side sun visor on my '05 nissan murano won't stay up. it falls down while driving, creating a safety hazard. it seems that many murano owners are having the same problem, but nissan will not correct the issue. replacement at the dealer will cost over $400.

2005 nissan murano taken in to nissan of gastonia on 4/27/10 to have the air intake recall corrected. mileage is about 52,000 miles. on 4/29/10, my check engine light came on and immediately had trouble with delayed starting. code p0345 camshaft position sensor a bank 2 circuit malfunction. called dealership and made appointment for their next available date 5/4/10 and took it in to be looked at. service manager felt quite certain that they had left something unplugged. he came back to me 1 hour later to advise that i needed a new camshaft position sensor. it cost me $247 to replace the sensor. too many issues with this sensor on line on nissan recalls for this not to be a safety concern on the 05 muranos' too.

Driver side visor of vehicle falls down on it's own. blocks driver's vision. occurs at least once a day. some times more frequently depending upon the road. if the roadway is bumpy, the visor will fall more frequently. this happened all of a sudden, without any events leading up to the failure. when i checked online, it turns out this is a fairly common problem with this vehicle. in some instances the dealer will repair. in other instances they will not. cost of the repair is around $400.00. i plan to go to the dealer tomorrow and hope they will repair.

2005 nissan murano - drivers side sun visor is broken and will not stay in the up position. falls suddenly and completely blocks vision of the road. i have almost been in several accidents due to this issue. nissan says it is not a warranty issue

I own a 2005 nissan murano and have had numerous incidents regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. the mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. i have talked to the nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and i must replace on my own expense regardless if i have a warranty. i have contacted the dealer i purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. i find this outrageous and danderous. an online search yeilds a large number of other murano owners with the same problem.

2005 nissan murano driver sun visor willl not stay up, especially in cold or wet weather posing a driver view obstruction safety issue.

Hi, my 2005 nissan murano has a sun visor that will not stay up. it needed to be replaced twice. a defect visor could block driver's view, or if the visor is removed completely and sun shines right into the eyes of the driver that could blind driver from seeing the road. regards

Approx. 3 weeks ago. while traveling home my 2005 nissan murano would just come to a complete stop, without warning. i wait about 5 minutes and it would start up again. then last week 6/19 while traveling on a hwy 9a south it did it again while going a speed of 65, then on 6/20. it did the same exact thing 5 times. i took it into the coggin nissan the same exact day. they have put on it on there diagnostic machine, was unable to determined the cause, so, they said that they would have to keep it until they determined the cause of the stalling. *tr
