Both sun visors on my nissan murano started flopping vertically down. they do not stay up, nor tilted downwards against the windshield. as a result my view gets disturbed while startling me. have checked with the dealer when getting another repair. they say that it costs $300-$500 each to replace them. no used sun visors are available in the after market as all sun visors tend to go bad. this is a 100% common safety issue with all murano's and very expensive replacement where this should not have happened. i am 51 years old and never experienced this with any cars i have ever had.

Driver side sun visor will not stay secured in the 'up' position. falls into driver's vision at unexpected times and especially if driving over rough surface or hitting bump or dip in road surface. presents clear and present dangerous condition(s) from sudden lack of visibility and/or in acting as a potential 'knife edge' in case of a sudden stop.
09/15/201075000
The driver's side sun visor fails directly into my line of vision and will not stay up. you can push it back up but then at any given time it will fall again. extremely frustrating and dangerous!

Driver side sun visor will not stay up regardless of the position it is in and continues to fall down blocking the driver's view. it falls down unexpected while driving suddenly blocking the driver's view of oncoming traffic, traffic signals, etc. i (and many other owner based on blogs and reviews) have contacted nissan several times, filed a complaint and requested a recall, to no avail. this is clearly a safety issue that should have been addressed in earlier vehicles. undoubtedly there have been accidents and near misses due to this obstruction to the driver's view of the road and traffic flows. a recall needs to be called to get this matter addressed especially since the manufacturer is well aware of the hazard it creates and that the component failure has been in existence since at least 2003. file # 6909366 was been created to document my concern by ginger knight, consumer affairs representative, nissan consumer affairs. if a recall has already been issued, please advise of the information so i can get this fixed. if not, please consider this and the numerous other complaints regarding this key component failure. regards, nannette cutliff

Normal vehicle use, about 45k miles.the drivers side sun visor fails to remain in the up position. this leads to critical driver blinding at unexpected times, usually during stops or turns when sight is critical. nissan would not repair under $400 and no after market parts have been found. a search shows this to be a known common issue affecting driver safety.

I own a 2005 nissan murano and both sun visors keep falling. i've tried velcro and even glue but to no avail. these faulty visors are dangerous because they tend to fall when i am driving and momentarily obstruct my view. i've come close on a few occasions to hitting a vehicle in front of me becuase of this. the cost to replace these visors is exorbitant ($350 or more ea) and while researching where to buy them cheap or even a method of repair for this defect i've found that there are multiple nissan owners with this exact same problem.

The driver side visor fell down one day and will no longer stay in up position. it must be left down flush against the window which obstructs the drivers view of the roadway. the visor repair is covered by my warranty but my deductible is $200 and to fix the visor without the warranty is over $300. from what i have read, this is an ongoing issue and a serious safety issue for drivers. people who have gotten them replaced continue to have this issue and the visor should be recalled and replaced with one that works in every other car. there are a lot of complaints here and it doesn't appear that anyone is doing anything about it.

The driver's side visor will not stay in the stowed position. it falls down into the driver's line of sight obstructing his/her vision. it happens intermittently, surprising the driver, causing a safety hazard. to keep it out of the way, one hand must be used to hold it up, leaving only one hand to drive.

My sun visor has been broken for nearly a year now. it's on the driver's side and will not stay up. if a tall person is driving you have to hold it up for them so they can see the road. this is a very severe safety hazard. i have a 05 nissan murano and according to the following blog, several people are having the same issue. it should be recalled as some have spent 400.00 to replace it only for it to break again. http://www.nissanforums.com/truck-suv/113557-murano-sun-visor-failure.html

Driver side visor of vehicle falls down on it's own. blocks driver's vision. occurs at least once a day. some times more frequently depending upon the road. if the roadway is bumpy, the visor will fall more frequently. this happened all of a sudden, without any events leading up to the failure. when i checked online, it turns out this is a fairly common problem with this vehicle. in some instances the dealer will repair. in other instances they will not. cost of the repair is around $400.00. i plan to go to the dealer tomorrow and hope they will repair.

I own a 2005 nissan murano and have had numerous incidents regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. the mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. i have talked to the nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and i must replace on my own expense regardless if i have a warranty. i have contacted the dealer i purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. i find this outrageous and danderous. an online search yeilds a large number of other murano owners with the same problem.

2005 nissan murano driver sun visor willl not stay up, especially in cold or wet weather posing a driver view obstruction safety issue.
01/06/200740000
At about 40,000 miles, the driver's side sun visor stopped holding its position. at first we could get it to stay in the up position; it just wouldn't stay set in mid position...it was either all the way up or all the way down. a few months ago (now 80,000 miles) the visor slips out of the up position and goes to the full down position when going over a big bump or at other random times. the murano doesn't have much head clearance in the first place, so the dropped visor completely obscures vision. from other discussion pages on the internet, this seems like a very common problem.
06/01/200956000
Sun visor failure 2005 nissan murano. the visor no longer stays in the closed / upright position. it has been getting progressively worse to the point that it falls in the 90deg. (0deg. fully closed) position hindering driver's frontward vision. it began to encounter problems about 1 yr ago. vehicle was less than 5yrs old but, over the basic warranty mileage for warranty claim. initially, visor would drop about 10-15 deg. enough for it to distract the driver's vision. now, the visor requires removal as it is a safety issue and may cause an accident.

Sun visor in 2005 nissan murano with 55k miles doesn't stay up all of a sudden. this started happening for no apparent reason. it's loose when in the up position, and if the car hits a bump, it falls in front of the driver. it is difficult to drive with it down all the time, and quite dangerous when it's up and all of a sudden falls when driving. it costs $375 for a replacement visor. both the local nissan dealer and the corporation refused to assist with the cost of the part, and this is a problem that, according to internet research (and the local dealer's own admission), numerous other people have encountered. this issue poses a serious safety hazard, yet is cost-prohibitive to have fixed. *tr

Driver's side visor on 2005 murano has lost its ability to stay in the up position reliably, causing it to drop into the driver's line of sight frequently and with no notice, causing a total obscurities of the road. have investigated this problem online and it seems to be rampant in this model car. only solution from dealer is to charge an outrageous $400 to replace the visor. have never had this happen in any other of my 12 cars owned. *tr

Driver's side sun visor falling down while driving. won't fall all the way down-just enough to be in line of vision. talked to nissan about replacement parts-not covered by warranty and b/w $350-$425 to replace(not including labor!) something needs to be done about this-high risk for accident-trying to use velcro at this time to keep in place-not really working!! just hit 60,000miles on it! *tr

Driver's sunvisor in 2005 nissan murano randomly falls down while vehicle is being driven. serious manufacturing or installation defect. since warranty is up dealer would not replace for free. quoted $370.00 for labor + cost of part. was finally able to persuade dealer to replace part 3 years later. (today as a matter of fact). had to threaten to get local news involved. others on message boards have had similar problems. please look into this major defect as many lives could be in jeopardy. i almost was in 2 serious accidents because of the visor just randomly falling while driving. thank goodness for brakes because i and my kids could have been another traffic fatality statistic. *tr

The driver's side visor of the vehicle constantly drops down without warning, causing viewing obstruction. it does not relate to road conditions (i.e. bumps or off-roading), weather (happens regardless of hot, cold, or normal temperature), or any other factor. this appears to be an ongoing issue with countless vehicles affected. nissan needs to issue a recall and fix the problem at no cost to the consumer. when i asked a nissan dealership about it, i was told it was due to the wearing out of the mechanism and a new visor would be ~$300 (including a $30 labor charge, which is ridiculous considering i've taken apart the visor myself and put it back together and i am in no way mechanically inclined). velcro does not fix the problem as the lining of the interior of the car is cloth ~ the velcro does not stick sufficiently. trying to keep the visor in the down and left position (against the driver's window) blocks the view of traffic, as does keeping it in the down and forward (against the windshield) position. i essentially have to drive with my left hand constantly either on the visor or within reach of it in case it starts to drop, leaving me with one hand to drive and react. this is a major safety issue that nissan is fully aware of and refuses to acknowledge, which severely impacts my faith in their products. i have driven two other nissans (both frontiers) without issue; it appears this is only a murano issue. i would hate to have to give up my car, which i greatly love in every other way, but i cannot continue to jeopardize my own safety as well as that of my family with this problem. *tr

Driver's side sun visor will not remain in up during driving conditions. item will fall into down position and obstruct driver's view of road, other vehicles, and signage. this is not an isolated incident on bumpy roads; this has happened multiple times a day for the past 12 months, all on highway miles.
