PE08065NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.11/18/200807/02/2009DRIVER SEAT ANCHOR FAILURE
This investigation concerns structural failure of the anchor/bracket on the left rear side of the driver's seat.the concern is that such failures may alter the driver's seated position so as to reduce effectiveness of the occupant protection system or potentially compromise vehicle control.failure of the subject anchor bracket results from metal fatigue and causes rearward tilting of the driver's seat.these failures usually occur during driver ingress but may also occur while the vehicle is being operated.the safety related concerns during actual vehicle use were not validated by this investigation.while the number of complaints of this problem is relatively high, only three very minor, undocumented injuries were reported.the reported injuries occurred during driver ingress, not while the vehicle was in motion.investigation disclosed that the apparent risk of compromise to vehicle control has not been demonstrated.investigation also disclosed that the apparent risk of collapse of the driver's seat back has not been demonstrateda safety related defect trend was not identified and this investigation has been closed.

I was getting out of my nissan murano to pick up my child from school. when i got out i heard a strange pop/crack noise and the seat was titled to the left back. i opened the back door and looked under the seat and found that there was a piece of metal that had broken. this caused the seat to fall backwards and to the left. i was unable to drive it until i found a plastic cup tall enough to hold up the back left corner of the seat so i was able to drive us home. iam a single mother barely making it and cant afford a $1200 repair. especially when there are hundreds of the same complaint. the dealerships other complaints have stated that it is a common issue. this common issue, had i been driving would have caused a wreck and the manufcturer will take no responsibility. i purchased this used and now i know why the prior two owners got rid of it. i also was under the impression that nissan cared about the people purchasing their vehicles. i wanted a safe truck to transport my child. there needs to be a recall and nissan should replace the bracket free of charge knowing that this is an issue.

I was driving with my cousin on our way to lunch when i heard a noise that sounded like i ran over a plastic bottle. i then learned that the drivers seat had broke. i called consumer affairs nissan at 1-800-647-7261 on january 3 2013. the customer service rep asked for my vin# to see if i was under warranty. once she located the info and found that my warranty expired i told her that i wanted to file a complaint against nissan. i didnt't stop there i notified the bbb along with the attorneys general office and the nhst. i was told that because my warranty was expired i had to have 9 other people in my area who had the same issue come forward for there to be an investigation. it will be 3 months on the 28th of march that i'm still riding around with a broken seat. i did have the seat welded but it broke after 6 days.

I had just stopped my vehicle and opened the driver's door, to exit. as i began to exit, the back left corner of the driver's seat collapsed. i removed the seat control panel and observed the metal seat frame had broken. note: this is the second time, in the exact same location, this has happened in the past 4 months. the first time the nissan dealer where i purchased the car offered to weld it for just under $500.00 dollars or replace the frame for just over $1300.00 dollars. additionally, i purchased a certification with the vehicle when i bought it used (2009 with 7900 miles) and the certification, although still active, does not cover this part. if i had purchased a gold certification, it would have be covered. i opted to go to a local, full service auto body shop where it was welded for $150.00. i re-contacted the same local nissan dealer again and they offered to research the incident and attempt to help. two days later i was contacted and told that the local nissan consumer affairs representative denied covering any part of the repair. the nissan store then offered to pay 50% of the replacement cost citing my customer loyalty (purchasing 5 cars from them an another 3 from their group).

My wife was driving about 40 mph and suddenly she heard a click and the driver seat sank to the rear left. the car went to the next lane but likely no one was close. my wife was able to take control back and put the car in lane. when she returned home, i checked the seat and it was broken at the rear left. quick check on internet and i found that it was a common problem with the murano. to my shock, there was an investigation but no recall was called. my wife was very close to an accident. if she was doing 55 mph on the crowded highway, we would have a different story to tell. does someone has to die for a recall!!

As i was driving down the road i heard loud snap and the seat saged to the left. the left side of the seat is now considerabley lower that the right side and you can wobble the seat quite a bit, it no longer feels like it is attached to the car very well. it seems this could be a seriuos problem in an emergencey situation!

I purchased a 2006 nissan murano from a reputable car dealer in dallas, texas on december 5, 2012. on or about january 22,2013, i was driving down the road at the above mentioned speed and heard a loud metal cracking sound. after the cracking sound, the seat became unstable and kept shifting back and forth. i took the vehicle back to car dealer and they checked the driver front seat and informed they would order a part to fix the problem. in the meantime, they anchored the seat, but two days later, the seat came loose again and i inquired about the part they said they would order. the salesman told me it was on order because the part was not available. several days later the salesman contacted me and said he had bad news, that they didn't have the part in stock and would have to back order it. i waited for a week and then the same salesman contacted me and said the seat would have to be replaced in order to fix the defect or that i should take it to a nissan dealer and maybe nissan would pay for the repair. after said conversation, i returned to my office and looked up this defect and found numerous complaints regarding these seats coming loose in the 2006 nissan murano, iand 2007 nissan murano. further, in the numerous complaints that i reviewed, not only did the complaints include the front driver seat, but the passenger seat as well at a cost of over $1,000.00 per seat. i strongly feel that nissan is obligated to recall the 2006 nissan murano and the 2007 nissan murano for the safety of the public and the owners of these cars. . *tr

I sat down in the drivers seat, started to pull out of the parking lot and heard a cracking sound and felt the left rear of the seat drop down 1-2 inches. the seat rocks from side to side while driving. after looking in the area of the prior loud cracking sound, i found the left rear seat bracket is broken. this is very unsafe. there are hundreds of reports on the internet of this part failing in many years of the murano vehicle and an updated stronger part is now available. this has been an on going probelm with the murano and feel this type of incident should be the subject of a recall and repaired for no cost to the owner. *tr

Front driver's side seat broke. it would lift on back left side. we noticed seat rocking from side to side. we thought maybe a bolt had broken? i took the car in to the dealership and they said the frame is bent/broken? and whole seat has to be replaced for $900. looking online it appears this happens quite frequently on nissan muranos. at that price i would chose to not replace the seat if i wasn't afraid that the seat will come off completely, sending me through the windshield. i am having it replaced next wed. i am disappointed in hearing that nissan is aware of this issue and hasn't issued a recall, they have only issued a service bulletin. it seems like a clear safety hazard and request it be looked into further. thank you *tr

While driving down a residential street i heard a noise like something had cracked, and felt the driver's seat move. after pulling over, i noticed that the seat could be rocked back and forth by hand - it was no longer stable. upon further inspection, i found that the back left part of the seat bracket had failed. i was later told by the dealer that this was not covered under warranty and that the only solution available was to replace the entire seat, which was going to cost over $1,000. i found a website (http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2006/nissan/murano/seat) where 242 other complaints have been filed about this exact same issue. either the bracket or the assembly (welding) of it appear to be defective. this is a significant safety issue, because having a seat break while driving could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. *tr

There is a problem with the drivers seat frame. the metal ultimately breaks due to stress leaving the seat on a tilt . it also causes the back portion of the seat to not be stable. it is extremely dangerous to drive the car like this. upon investigation i found numerous sites on the internet outlining this problem. it is my opinion this is a safety issue and a recall should sent out. the dealer that i took my car to for repair was well aware of this issue and said that it had been corrected in new models but no recall had been issued due to expense to nissan. they did suggest a new seat frame for $1600.

Noticed one day that the seat was wobbly. took it to my mechanic and he said that a manufacturer's weld had failed. this is a huge safety concern, as if i am in an accident, the seat will not restrain me. did research online, and apparently this is a huge issue with all 2003-2007 nissan muranos. i feel that this should absolutely be recalled and paid for by manufacturer. *tr

Driver's side seat was noted broken by mossy nissan (1546 auto prkwy 92029) in august 2012 during a repair for power steering failure. head technician at mossy nissan paul and service man [xxx] claimed it was due to a faulty welding job to the seat track. repair was made august 23rd due to safety concerns and the fact the car was inoperable. mossy offered a more cost effective repair (original repair entailed replacing the whole drivers seat totaling over $1,000 plus labor) by outsourcing to a local welding shop for half the price at $530. it was also noted that this problem had occurred at least 3 times to the same model of car in recent years. i do not feel confident of welding job on said vehicle due to past repair at mossy nissan on december 26th 2011 for replacement of rear lower motor mount totaling $627.75. just months before the next welding repair in august 2012. i do not believe this is a consumer repair for either case and i am seeking the full refund of $530 and $627.75 for said repairs. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I have a 2006 nissan murano. the driver side left weld bracket broke on my seat. this has created a huge safety hazard for me... and it's going to cost me around $1400 to fix. this doesn't seem right to me... i have seen a lot of complaints about this same issue. why hasn't nissan stepped in and issued a recall to make this right before someone gets seriously injured or killed, due to this issue. i was under the impression that nissan made a quality vehicle that was built to last and safe. this is extremely dangerous! *tr

The drivers seat left bracket broke free from frame, causing the seat to tilt to the left and wobble when you drive and take corners. after research online, there are thousands of cases of this with the murano and no one seems to be getting a recall off the ground. it is the same weld the same side of the same seat in each murano, how much logic does it take to get this under recall? this is a safety hazard as the chair is unstable. also common sense tells us with the left side broken the right side weld is under more stress and physics will prove it will break as well leaving the driving seat unattached completely and the driver using the steering wheel to keep from being thrown into the back seat. i called nissan and got a bunch of bs propaganda double speak and feel like any complaint i was trying to file was crumpled and tossed into the trash before i was even off the phone. i have loved my murano up to this point, but since nissan won't stand behind their work or correct what is clearly a manufacter's defect, then i will not be buying another one. ever! *tr

My nissan murano 2006 driver seat started rocking last week. i took it to the dealership today and found that the left seat track needs to be replaced. the part cost is $1118.90 and with labor, it'll cost over $1400. i found this issue in the defect investigation for my vehicle that was opened in 2009 and closed in 2010. according to the report, this was not found to be a safety issue. i've also noticed many (very many) complaints online regarding this issue. i asked the dealership today what happens if i don't get it fixed and if there's an urgency. he said that if i don't get it fixed, the other track may break as well. and if this happened while i was driving, the whole seat could flip backwards. i don't understand why with so many complaints and obviously a safety concern, this has not been made more serious. why knowing there's a defect, a recall has not been put on this issue and why the manufacturer has not done their part to address this defect. please reconsider opening an investigation. not many people have $1400 to put down on a seat issue that should've been addressed by the manufacturer in the first place. thanks!

I purchased a 2006 nisaan murano brand new. after doing a little research, i understand that my compliant has been documented numerous times, by many consumers and that an investigation by nhtsa has been completed and closed. with that said, a new investigation into the matters needs to occur and nissan needs to issue a recall. the visor on the driver's side continues to flop down, causing limited visability when driving. this impairs visibility when driving, which is a major safety concern and although it seems that the defect hasn't resulted in a casualty yet, it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured from this defect. next, the seat anchor bracket/frame on my driver's side seat is broken and has caused the seat to lean to the left considerably. the seat is unstable and rocks back and forth while driving, which again, is a safety concern. the investigation into this matter by nhtsa indicated that the problem results from metal fatigue. when in automobile history has this occurred? as i understand, it will cost over $1,000 to get this fixed. nissan needs to issue a recall and take responsiblity for its manufacturing defects. i hope they are not waiting until someone actually dies before they realize these defects are a major safety hazard.

The drivers seat became loose around the left rear floor area of the seat frame. the seat motors still worked but the seat movement was rough and sounded like it was grinding when engaged. a nissan dealership replaced the entire assembly at a cost of $946.00.

The bracket under the drivers seat broke as i was turning a corner. the left side of the seat dropped several inches and nearly caused me to go off the road. this is a major safety issue and after doing a little research seems to be a major issue for nissan. it should definitely be a recall as it is a huge safety issue.

The bracket holding the driver seat up broke while sitting in a parking lot. it made a snapping sound and lurched down in the rear and to the left, causing me to lean into the door. now the seat rocks back and forth while i drive/accelerate/decelerate. upon investigation, the part of the bracket that broke was a poorly designed v shaped punched metal link which developed stress fractures at the weak points. with very little research, this appears to be a widespread problem with muranos '03-'08, and is addressed under a tsb, however a recall has not been issued. this is a huge safety concern for me and combined with other defective issues such as a leaking steering rack and driver visor which refuses to stay up, i am not likely to ever own a nissan again.

The driver's side power seat somehow broke under normal wear and tear. the seat leans to the left side and wobbles to the front and back. therefore having to accelerate, decelerate, turn corners and go over rough road causes the seat to move all over the place. i believe this causes a safety issue while trying to drive. this is a nissan design flaw that should be on a recall notice and corrected by nissan free of charge to the consumer. there are numerous complaints regarding this seat and for many, the dealership wants to charge some outrageous price to get the problem corrected. another issue is the driver's side visor which flops down unexpectedly while driving for no apparent reason. when returned to it's normal place, it will fall down. this causes another safety issue while trying to drive. the visibility is compromised and an accident could very well occur. please address these design flaws for recalls.

On my 2006 nissan murano s the seat was loose when i got into the car. it appears a metal bracket broke about the connection point to the seat . this little piece of metal l-bracket has something to do with the ability for the seat to rise and lower. since it has 49,000 miles on it, nissan consumer affairs doesn't cover it because they say the seat bracket is not a safety item. i now have a seat that rocks and moves around while driving/turning. i called the local nissan dealer, they told me they have seen this several times. it seems the seat can be fixed for a mere $1300. this has never happened to any cars foreign or domestic in over 40 years of owning a car. i can't think of any part failures where the manufacturer won't admit their part just might not be designed for the stresses it is supposed to take during normal usage. please let me know should this get any attention. however for the safety of myself and family members who use the car , i find that i will need to have it repaired or replaced. that to me is a priority even though nissan has a different opinion.

Driver power seat unable to move. gets stuck at one location so can not move to adjust for proper driving location. also possible airbag issue since can get seat stuck up against steering wheel. no way to adjust seat once motor stops working. even paid to get repaired the other month and now it has stopped working again. only thing good this time is that the seat is stuck further back and not up against the steering wheel. that is a dangerous problem. check out nissan forums to see how many are having problems with driver seat motors stopping.

Driver's seat frame broke in 2 spots. metal fatigue likely cause on this critical component.

While leaving the parking lot of a store, i heard a pop and my seat immediately went to the left and rocked backward. my foot moved away from the accelerated and there was some loss of control of the vehicle. the seat continued to rock as i drove. at one point i had to make an abrupt stop, the car lunged and with gravity my seat rocked backward decreasing the pressure of my foot on the break. i have to hold myself up on the steering while driving to keep the seat somewhat stable. if i have to manuever a deep curve either right or left it is difficult to handle the vehicle while bracing myself to keep the seat still. i have seen some of the complaints about this seat issue. there is also evidence in the complaints that a nissan mechanic admitted that this was a design flaw. i have reported this to nissan customer affairs and they even admitted that this was a design flaw and safety hazard. it is a safety hazard for the owner of the vehicle and as well as the public safety.

Like all the other complaints i have read online , i have the same complaint. i had bought a 2006 murano with only 28000 miles, along with being the second owner only and not long after i had it, the driver seat broke!! they say it is not under warranty and it is not a safety issue but how is that possible??? when you are driving ,your seat is loose!!!!! and what if you get in an accident and the other half of the seat breaks as well!!! how can they not recall this product due to the number of complaints on the same issue!!!!??? i love my car but very unhappy with nissan that they will not stand by their product !!!!

Seat jumps off its track from the left side of the driver's seat while driving. on a curve or through a pump on the road causes temporary dissruption of the driver's focus on the road thereby loosing temporary control and increasing the possiblility of a crash.

Driver seat start to move sideways, after looking below i have found the support crossbar of the frame is broken at the end so the seat now leans up and down, back and forth. the dealer quotes $898 part +$250 labor just to replace the frame. of course is not covered by nissan. how many other brands beside nissan have you seen with this problem? i am simply appaled by the lack of concern from nissan. after reading complaints about seat collapsing, wheel bearing going out, visors falling blocking the view of the driver, steering hoses braking causing fire, in vehicles with low mileage i cannot beliebe nissan does not identify this as a safety issues and allows the consumer to pay for these faulty components. this is my first and last nissan vehicle.

I had just got into the car and was driving out of a parking lotand i heard a crack noise and the driver seat just fell back and lean back to the left. the seating now just freely falls back and the seat rocks back and forth.

As i was turning, the driver side seat collapsed and seat started shaking and wobbling toward the left and backward. i managed to get to a safe place to investigate the problem. the thin bracket under the seat had broken. the seat is making it hard to steer since it can wobble any time i make a turn. searching online, it appears that this is a common complaint, but nissan will not recall this defective part. it cost approximately $467 to replace and there is no gaurantee that it will not happen again in the next three years. this is a manufacturer defect, but nissan will not recall

I was on the highway driving and and i heard a crack noise and the driver seat just fell back and lean back to the left. the seating just freely falls back. i pulled over and look underneath and saw that there is this little bar, slimmer than my pinky finger, which was support the seat broke. when i got home and researched, i was shocked to what i saw, a lot of complaints about this issue.this experience was one of the scariest thing i have ever experienced. to know that this was the only bar supporting the seat and nothing has been done about it, i am really shocked and really hope something will be done for nissan to rectify this problem before it is too late for some people.

Driving approximately 60 mph on highway; looked over left shouder to change lanes and heard loud pop. seat fell back and to the left unexpectedly. this did cause me to go into another lane - thankfully there was no one there at that time. for the rest of the ride the seat bounced up and down and moved forwards and backwards. i see that i am not the only person who has had this issue. nissan does sell a bracket to help reinforce this but it is over $1000.00 or you can buy the seat brand new for $2-3,000. especially if you have heat/electric to the seat. these prices do not include labor either. i have two small children with me every day and i am thankful that this did not end in an accident. it seems that eventually it may end that way for someone though. what does it take to have a safety recall? does someone truly need to loose their life in order for a recall to happen? when you spend this much on a luxury vehicle you expect it to stand up and the maker behind it to stand behind it!!! i am extremely unhappy at this time with how nissan is handling this.

Normal driving - driving my child to school. driver side seat suddenly fell on the left side. injuring my back. the seat bracket on the left rear seems to be cracked/broken. the seats rocks forcefully without notice up and down even on slight turns. almost lost control of car on a very high elevated freeway turn as when i turned to the left, the seat abruptly came up turning my body to the right - that movement made me then suddenly pull down on the left side of the steering wheel, which then forced the car to suddenly swerve to the left. fortunately, there was no one next to me and i was able to recover. if this were to happen to someone on a higher speed freeway turn ramp, there would be a high chance that they would loose control and possibly cause severe injury or death, depending on roadway and space/design. the car is now very dangerous to drive as you have to try and balance yourself using your left leg/foot pulled up to seat. when cornering you have to put so much attention on trying not to swerve as the seat rises & drops you depending on which way you are turning. the rising and dropping on turns, naturally pulls or pushes your body which is holding the steering wheel - this then causes a severe sudden pull one or the other way. it also takes your attention off the road and surroundings. in conclusion, when researching this, i have seen this under defects but no recall. there are hundreds of complaints of this poorly designed lower seat frame and one day this will end up killing someone. i sure hope it does not take that to become a recall item.

2006 nissan murano sl drivers seat motor failed in car with 30,000 miles on it. as a result, i cannot reach the gas or brake pedal. i have been able to use pillows to get me to the pedals. i filed a complaint with nissan in july 2010 and also in june 2011. research on car forums shows this is a common defect. the part needs to be replaced - estimate is $1200. nissan should issue a recall on these seats.

Transmission failure and driver seat failure
05/15/201177000
There was no event that happened prior to this problem. driver's seat has a rocking back and forth motion at the left rear. it appears nhtsa has issued a tsb for this problem previously, but the problems still occur.

There was no event leading up to the failure. i simply got into my car and noted that the driver's seat suddenly rocked back and forth like it was off track or had come unbolted from the base. while driving the seat was unstable and would shift in place, especially around corners. i took the car to a local repair shop and was informed that the problem was a broken support bar. apparently the weld where it met at the seat frame had failed.

My driver's seat began rocking badly on may 8, 2011. there had been no unusual incidents or accidents. it appears that the framing on the driver's seat has broken and now my seat rocks badly anytime i get in or out of the car, as well as anytime i make a turn or drive around a curve in the road. it also pitches back and forth whenever i make a stop, thereby feeling like and ejector seat and choking me with the seat belt.

I own a 2006 nissan murano and while driving i heard a snap sound and the left year of the driver's seat sank which caused me to jerk the steering wheel into the oncoming lane of traffic. fortunately there was no oncoming traffic. i took the car to my service station and upon inspection they revealed the seat frame in the back left cracked so now the seat rocks side to side. the seat is no longer stable.

Tl - the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving the seat broke and back rest went all the way down. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offered any assistance since the vehicle was out of warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 76,200. pm

2006 murano seat broke today while i was driving. it is the bracket in the left-side rear of the driver seat. it was terrifying when it happened as i almost caused an accident!. seats are not supposed to break in this manner. i just found out there is not a recall for this issue. it is ridiculous nothing is being done about this. i am an engineer and immediately noticed this part is of poor design.

Purchased 2006 nissan murano sl with 46k miles. at 60k miles, my driver seat began to rock and now it leans to the left side. the seat is broken and will have to be repaired. from what i've read, this problem is wide spread with muranos and the repair cost is up to $1,000.00 i think nissan should repair this item free and have a recall for it.

My 2006 nissan murano with 60k miles had a failure in the drivers seat today that nearly caused an accident. the failure is well documented and causes the seat to sit towards the door at an extreme angle and leaving the driver in an unsafe driving position. nissan has been completely unhelpful in fixing it as they want $1200 to repair.

I recently purchased a 2006 nissan murano. while i was driving one day the left side of the seat snapped and started to sag significantly. i luckly maintained control of my veichle despite the sudden rock back in the seat. i did nothing to cause this and i weigh under 200 lbs. there is no reason for this problem that i am aware of. i then took it to a dealer who said that it would cost me $600 without even looking at the car. i just told him what happend and he knew the peices and prices. it seems to be an incredibly common problem but nothing has been done about it so far. this seat breaking could cause an accident, injuries, or even death when it happens. there have been several complaints in this fourm and i have seen compliants in several other forums. will this be allowed to be contiuned at the safty of other drivers or will this problem be resolved? nissan doesn't appear to care about it, quite the opposite they seem happy to charge rediculas amounts of money to fix it. so i'm hoping that a solution for this can be found.

 1. purchased 2006 nissan murano in may 2010 with 40000 miles on it. at 40,000 miles the front left tire started to make a grinding noise. 2. at 47,000 miles wheel bearing on front left tire went bad. at 51,000 miles was driving the car and heard a snap and the left side of the drivers seat collapsed and now rocks back and forth making it not only unsafe but also uncomfortable to drive. 3. paid $500 to get the wheel bearing repaired on the car. took the car into nissan dealership to get the seat looked at and were told that it would be a $1300 repair because nissan does not make the part that was defective, therefore we would have to pay to get the entire seat replaced. these are both safety issues and there are 1,000's of complaints on both of these issues yet nissan still refuses to pay for the repairs or recall the parts.

Driver's side seat frame broke and is now listing heavily to one side. not exactly sure when the failure occurred but noticed that during the resetting (between buttons 1 and 2) that the seat would only raise on the right, not left. that was about a month ago. today, while cleaning the vehicle i was wiping the seats down and noticed that the entire unit is unstable. this is a safety concern and i'm shocked by the apparent lack of nissan's response. i have not contacted nissan yet but will do so in the next few days. the earliest i can get the murano into the dealership is two weeks from today. a poor way to run a business.

Dear sir/madam, i have a nissan murano 2006 and i am the second owner...i got this car on march 2010. on feb 15th 2011, when i entered the car and put the key in ignition i heard a poping sound in the driver side car seat ...since then the car seat is rocking towards the left back side and seems like it can fall anytime...i took it to the dealer and he said its a common problem in murano and will cost 1100$. i think this should be reported and you guys should take a proper action against the car manufacturer...i can see hundresds and thousnads of posts related to this problem online....so this is definately a defect in manufacturubng and should be recalled. i belive you will do the needful thanks

2006, nissan murano, driver's side seat frame has broken. it wobbles as i drive.the seat bracket on the left side of the seat broke and now the seat rocks around when driving it. the electric controls still work, but the seat rocks severely when making a turn or driving on a bumpy road. i called the local nissan dealership who told me it would cost 1100 to replace the seat. if they looked at it to confirm that it is broken, they would charge me 105.

2006 nissan murano sl electric drivers side seat failure. yesterday my drivers side seat made a snapping noise while i was driving it and the seat slumped / slanted to the left so i was leaning toward the drivers door as i was driving. i stopped the car and checked the seat by shaking it firmly. the left rear of the seat seemed to be detached from the frame rails of the vehicle so the seat literally flopped back and forth. from the underside rear of the seat i was able to see the broken bracket that attaches the seat to the frame, it is snapped/sheared off. i am only 230lbs and have had the car for just over a year purchasing it used. i have never abused the seat or the vehicle. and have never been in an accident. i did some reasearch this morning for a replacement part and it seems many murano's from all years suffer this same issue and the dealer is charging $1000+to fix it, or you can have somebody weld the part. this is the first time this has happened to me but after the research it is clear it is a major defect in the quality of the metal or the design of the part which is such a major safety item. i was just driving when it snapped, how many other people with nissan vehicles haven't snapped yet but are in a weakend state which could just let loose during an accident. i am going to complain to nissan but i expect it will go no where. thank you.

2006 nissasn murano - got into the car one day and when the seat went to reposition itself there was a loud cracking noise that come from below the seat. now when i go around corners, the seat shifts from left to right (or right to left depending on the corner). i bought an extended warrenty with the car ($1899.00) when we bought the car, but the dealership has informed me that the warrenty does not cover fixing the seat.

Seat adjuster and seat slider got broken in nissan murano 2006 causing driver seat to rock from left to right. when i brought the vehicle to a service center, i was told that i cannot drive it until it is fixed due safety concerns. i had to fix it asap and cost of the repair was $1475. searching internet i discovered that it is rather common problem for muranos from 2003 to 2007.

I purchased my 2006 murano from nissan of garden city around july of 2010, after filing out the paperwork for it i noticed when i got into the car the seat felt odd. i asked the rep whats wrong with it he said ooohh get bring it back tomorrow we will get it checked out free of charge. those were his exact words. i said okay no big deal, took the vehicle down the next morning let them look at it i received a call telling me the seat frame needs to be replaced, they replaced it for free. months go no issue until one day i'm driving with my nephew in the back and i go to take a turn and the seat frame snapped again nearly causing me to hit the car in the other lane. i found a place to pull over and looked under the seat and noticed the frame was broken again. i proceeded to call my dealer i talked to the rep he said he would have to see if it's under warranty, he said he would call me back he never did. extremely vex i called nissan talked to a rep the first time complete bone head. talked to another rep named yolanda brown she called the dealership told me to bring it in to them, i haven't done this yet because school is now in session and i'm tied up, however i will be taking it down there this week. i've done my research on this failure of a design for a seat. i don't understand how nissan could put such a poor quality product in their car. wherever i look everyone is saying take it to your local mechanic and let him weld it or fabricate a part for you. if things do not work out with nissan i might go that route. however it's been noted to nissan that if i get into an accident because of this part failing i will sue them.

I don't recall a particular incident that caused and initiated my seat issue with my 2006 nissan murano. the seat rocks back and forth and is leaning towards the driver's door when i sit on it. i went to the dealer and was told that the seat frame is broken and will need to be replaced. i researched this issue and found out that this can potentially injure someone if the frame breaks off and can cause a person who is driving get in an accident.

My wife was driving our 2006 nissan murano. upon taking a turn, the drivers seat suddenly shifted to one side. (my wife is medium build, about 155 pounds.) when she returned home, i inspected the seat and found that one of the mounting braces under the seat had broken. the seat now rocks side to side. i researched this on line and found that this is not at all an unusual thing that happens to these seats. i went to my local nissan dealer and was told they have had 4 cases of this happening recently. the service man (scott) even told me this happened to his 2005 murano. their solution was to replace the entire seat at an estimated cost of $1100. even if i replaced the entire seat, there is no guarantee that the new seat wouldn't break as well, since it is the same design. they agreed that there has been problems with the seats, not only on the 2006 models, but other years as well. since my vehicle was more than 36 month old, there was no warrenty or replacement of any kind offered by nissan. they agreed that all that needed to be done was to remove the seat and spot weld the broken bracket, but that they had no welding equipment and suggested i find someone who welds and take care of it myself. it seems to me that nissan would be concerned that one of these seats might break while at expressway speeds, causing the driver to overeshift and be involved in an accident. it is my hope that something be done by nissan to remedy this potentally dangerous situation. i am currently driving this vehicle with a 4x4 and 2x4 block propped under the seat to keep it from rocking.

While driving home on a smooth, even surface road, i heard a snap and felt my driver's seat collapse/sag noticeably. further investigation revealed that the seat track (or adjuster assembly) had broken on the back left mount. at first it looked like a new triangular bracket would be needed to repair the break, but it turns out that the track is one entire assembly. no rough riding or driving conditions were present at the time of the break. i do not do any rough/off road driving. i have read numerous complaints about murano seats breaking on the internet forums.

On 12/28/10 i was returning from a skiing trip and stopped with my kids for some fast food. upon returning to my 2006 nissan murano, i opened the door and as soon as i sat on the drivers seat, i heard a bang and the left rear side of the driver's seat sank. upon furhter inspection i found that the left rear mounting bracket on the seat had snapped. my vehicle is 5 yrs. old and i just hit 165,000 miles. over the years, i have owned 8 other cars prior to this murano and have put mileage on them ranging from 157,000 (chevy malibu) to 98,000 (dodge spirit) and have never experienced such a problem. a seat bracket is a non-moving part and is critical to driver/passenger safety in that it keeps the occupant stable so that the seat belts can properly restrain in the event of a crash. now when i sit in the seat i tip to the left (towards the door) and the seat moves up/down when i make turns. this is not a safe condition. i have seen many complaints about this problem in internet forums and it just seems ridiculous to me that a metal, non-moving part situated inside the vehicle (and not subject to rust or weatther) that is so critical to safety should just spontaneously fail. if i were a larger person, i could possibly understand, however, at 200lbs. i am not much out of the range of the average american male and such a part should be designed to handle such stresses. god knows how this bracket would have handled a crash! this problem needs to be rectified via a recall as it appears that nissan dealers are charging from $500 to $1,200 to repair this problem. totally unacceptable for a safety related component!!

12/19/2010156000
2006 nissan murano, broken driver's seat frame. failed while driving, turning at an intersection. temporarily lost control of the vehicle and almost hit an oncoming car. the seat frame repair cost at the dealer is nearly $1,400. nissan has refused to provide any financial assistance for the repair citing it not being the safety hazard and that the vehicle's warranty had expired. this is a part that should never break on a vehicle, let alone a vehicle that is only 4 years old. i am seriously concerned about the ability of the seat to maintain its structural integrity in the event of an accident. due to the safety concern that i have with this seat and what could potentially happen in an accident, i will be selling it when i have it paid for in a few short months and will not purchase another one. nissan's handling of this issue has cost them my future business. i did some internet research on this issue which led me to this site as well as uncovered a host of the very same issue with other muranos. it appears to be a systematic problem with muranos of this vintage. nissan does not agree that this is a safety concern. i disagree with their assessment as a seat coming unattached from the vehicle's frame has the potential for serious injury. vin number available upon request.

The mount under the left side of the driver's seat suddenly broke and detached from the frame. it was extremely difficult to drive/operate the vehicle since the driver's seat was leaning severly to the left and moving around. if there had been an accident, the seat would have most likely become completely seperated from the car since there was only 1 bracket holding it on instead of 2.

The drivers seat of my 2006 nissan murano cracked at the weld in the frame causing the seat to drop at a steep angle in the back. fortunately the incident occurred when i was getting in the vehicle rather than when i was driving as it surely would have caused a extremely dangerous and undriveable situation. the dealership service manager concurred that it was a manufacturing defect in my vehicle, however nissan would not cover the cost of the repair, nor the cost of replacement transportation while the appropriate parts were ordered and installed which spanned several days. i am extremely displeased with the experience of dealing with nissan consumer affairs department.

While driving on the freeway, my drivers seat mounting bracket broke (left rear bracket mount weld). this caused me to cross the lane and almost side swipe another vehicle. nissan will not cover and has no recall for this obvious safety issue. i am now forced to drive a vehicle which rocks back and forth while operating it. this is an identified manufacturing flaw and should have an immediate recall, before a fatality occurs!!!

Driving a nissan 2006 murano and hear a loud ping from underneath the drivers seat. suddenly the seat is tilting towards the door and feels unstable. the seat now moves while driving. car has about 90k miles on it when it happened.
11/17/201044388
The drivers seat left attachment bracket failed in the bent portion of the bracket. the seat is unstable. the seat positioning system is still operable. in an accident, the seat would not be restrained.

The driver's seat is loose tilts back and to the left when i sit in it. took it in and was told that it was a broken lift assembly. the repairs would cost $1200. this is a severe safety issue, that should never happen. my murano has never been in an accident and only has 52,888. when i called nissan they said she had never heard of it?!?!?! sure.... there are over 135 complaints on here, and many of them had nearly had accidents. what does it take for nissan to step-up and take action for their poor engineering?!? ridiculous!

The driver's seat jammed in one position and will not move forward or backward. took vehicle to a nissan dealer and was told that the weld on the frame broke and because they could not warrant welding it i would have to replace the entire frame, which included all motors and electrical components and the cost would be $1,400. i thought the cost was astronomical for something that should have never happened. i did not have it repaired, but now obviously my concern is that the seat may break away from the frame completely and cause a serious accident. after my wife and i went online and viewed so many complaints about the same problem, i feel that nissan should be responsible for the repairs. there have been too many similar incidents for this not to be considered a safety default!

I purchased this vehicle used, but after checking the internet found it is a common problem with this vehicle. a few months after puchasing this vehicle my fiance noticed that the drivers seat was wiggling and didn't seem right. we brought it to a repair shop and they stated that the rail that holds the seat in place had broke. they welded it but stated it may happen again.

While pulling into traffic i heard a slight pop sound at which point the power driver's seat dropped towards the door. i tried readjusting the seat but as i tried to raise the seat the left side would not come back to level. after parking the car, i looked under the seat to find the seat bracket was broken. i was surprised how long it had lasted without braking after observing how small gauge of metal used. had this happened in heavy traffic on the interstate, there is a good possibility of a serious accident.

2006 murano se issue- driver seat rocks and when i come to a complete stop the seat tilts forward and when making left turns the seat tilts to the side. this is very dangerous and almost caused a severe accident.
10/21/201065000
2006 nissan murano; driver's seat fell down at the rear of the seat. dealer states that it is a commonly known failure of the seat's lift assembly. thankfully, i was on a straight road and no other vehicles were nearby when it happened. i swerved at the time and strained to pull over safely b/c i couldn't reach the pedals very well with the seat in the awkward position it was in. for sure, this could have been a disaster, and is a disaster waiting to happen on many vehicles. it's my understanding that poor manufacturing is to blame. really, this should be recalled and replaced. what a danger!

Driver's seat rear tube is broken on left side after 82 kmiles of normal driving on paved roads only, mostly highway. both drivers weigh less than 190 lbs. material strength / thickness is insufficient for the loads the tube needs to carry at that location. the whole seat (cushion and backrest) rotates up/down about the front and to the left approx. 4-5 inches when the backrest is pushed lightly toward mid car direction. this is a major safety issue. it's surprising that the seat passed fmvss 208/301 (dynamic front and rear crash tests) during dv and pv. ok so new carefully assembled seat frames must have passed those tests, but isn't nissan also responsible to ensure the built-in seat safety factor is high enough to overcome manufacturing tolerances and fatigue issues from normal driving for production seat frames such that under a front or a rear crash event the seats actually do provide some protection and at least do not increase the danger to the driver and the passengers? this is faulty engineering. there are many cases for pre-2008 model murano with this problem on the internet and, i assume, in your database. to ensure nissan and other vehicle manufacturers design for fatigue, manufacturing tolerances and/or quality, nhtsa should prompt a safety recall. customers should not have to pay >$1000 to fix a seat that nissan pays less than $150 to assemble in the vehicle, as this would be equivalent to rewarding and supporting faulty engineering.

Got in 2006 nissan murano and sat on driver's seat when the seat collapsed to the left side and rear of the seat. had this happened while driving it could have been very startling and cause a collision. i took it in to nissan dealer where i bought it. they said they had seen and repaired several others. they indicated on the receipt that found that the seat frame had broken on the weld on the left rear of the seat. removed and repaired seat and welded the frame back together.

2006 nissan murano drivers seat broke and has seperated from the track, therefore allowing the seat to tilt side to side with any turn. nissan does not want to admit there is a problem with the seat but apparently there is a problem with this seat breaking in the murano. i have asked them to split the cost with me and they refuse to do so. with all the infor out on the internet accosiated with this problem i think they should be forced to do a recall and admit the problem

The drivers' seat in our 2006 nissan murano came un-welded. this failure was not due to any out of the ordinary use as this vehicle is a daily driver. we had approximately 80k miles on the car when suddenly our seat started to rock back and forth in a caddy corner motion. dealer said he had seen about 60 of these in the last few months and offered no complimentary part for replacement. we purchased the 100k mile extended warranty so we only had to pay $50.00 to have it fixed. seriously though, a seat coming un-welded? makes my stomach sick to know that this is still an issue as well as the thought of what if... please look into this issue and make nissan correct this issue with an otherwise trouble-free car.

I own a 2006 nissan murano and today as i was turning onto a busy freeway (with 2 of my grandchildren in the car) , my driver's side seat came loose from the floor of the car. this is definitely not acceptable for a car that has only 53,000 miles on it. i reviewed your website and saw hundreds of complaints about this. i noticed that nothing has been done. is this because there were no deaths or injuries? i would hope a recall is issued before somebody has blood on their hands. are you anywhere near a recall on this safety issue?

Driver's side left rear seat hinge broke in two pieces. no extreme wear or tear done to this seat, and the metal broke. the consequences of this problem are obvious, if ever in an accident or simply normal driving, the safety of the seat is compromised. nissan charges around $1000 to have this repaired. seat brackets should never fail, especially not in the numbers being reported.

I have 2006 nissan murano and i went into my car and was getting ready to go to work, i sat in my car and when i put on my seat belt i felt that my driver seat shift to the left and was very loose and constantly moving as i was driving. i took it to the dealer and i was told that the seat is broken and that it cost about $500 for the parts alone.

2006 nissan murano. the driver seat track just broke and the seat wobbles when i drive.
06/26/2010121750
Drivers seat in my 2006 murano came loose from it's mounting saturday while driving down the highway. it is like the seat came loose from the outer mounting bracket. when itransfer my weight to my left, while sitting in the drivers seat, i can feel the seat tip sideways to an alarming degree. when i make a left turn, i feel like the seat is going to roll right out of thedrivers door. very unsettling. i took the car today to my nissan dealer. the dealer was familiar with the problem. told me a bracket had snapped under the seat and that the seat adjuster assembly needed to be replaced. cost: $1200 including labor. this seems outrageous on several levels, not the least of which appears to be a major safety flaw in the materials used to hold that seat in place. i was advised by service writer not to drive the car, as the seat could break off and roll backwards while i am driving. fyi, the vehicle has been drivien normally without any off roading, ever. i weigh 190 pounds, so i'm not huge. i'm shocked that there hasn't been a recall on this. i googled the problem today and found an active community of disgruntled murano owners with similar experiences. i think your organization should look into this problem.

The seat in my nissan murano while i was turning the seat just broke and sent me shifting and moving to the left. now my seat rocks and doesn't feel secure when turning. if that was to break during an acident it could send the person to fly out.

Drivers side seat frame snapped completely in half. this is the basic structure of the car and should not break with no reason. this car has never been in any accidents. the seat is very loose and therfore very unsafe. it could lead to an accident or cause excessive injury if an accident occurred as there is no support to keep the seat from moving. this is very unsafe and seems to be a factory defect.

Drivers seat frame snapped in half. this car has never been in any accidents so there is no reason for the actual frame to have broken. it is very loose and wobbly and therefore very unsafe to drive. it would not hold up in the case of an accident. this is not something that should break with no reason as it is the structure of the vehicle. this is very unsafe and could cause an accident or cause excessive injury as a result of an accident.

Operating my 2006 nissan murano on the roadway when there was a sudden pop and snap noise from beneath the drivers seat. fortunately i was able to maintain control and was not involved in a collission. the drivers seat know is loose and tilts to the left and is very unsafe, especially when cornering. i went to a local nissan dealership and was told that the seat rail had broken and needed to be repaired at a cost of $1200.. upon further investigation i learned that i am among many people who have experianced this broken seat rail syndrome. there is obviously a defect in the bracket which needs to be investigated and a corrective notice issued to nissan of ma.

Similar complaint re: driver's seat on 2006 nissan murano. i recently purchased the car used (1 month ago). the seat, automatically adjusts for the driver when the vehicle is turned on and has been operating without concern. today, the driver's seat came off track without warning, now leans way to the left and is extremely unsafe. i drove it home and will take it to dealer tomorrow. i did call nissan re: recall and was informed there was no recalls on this vehicle despite the hundreds of similar complaints. i intend to do what i can to ensure it is addressed by nissan and the repairs made.

I have a 2006 nissan murano. for the past few weeks there was a squeak in my car, i thought it might be my seat. all of a sudden this morning, i got in and my drivers seat was leaning to the left. took it to the dealer and they want $1100 to fix it, says it is not covered under their warranty. they said that the seat frame is broken.

Driver seat on 2006 nissan murano dropped and shifted abruptly causing me to temporarily loose control and cross the center line into oncoming traffic on highway 15 in virginia. luckily i was able to regain control and get back into my lane before a collision. subsequent examination of the seat revealed a hinged connecting member at the rear left section of the seat frame of the 10 way power driver

On my 2006 nissan murano se the driver's side seat is like a rocking chair. it appears that one of the brackets broke underneath. i took it to a nissan dealship who confirmed the problem and then nissan corporate said they would do nothing to fix the problem. i have found that hundreds of murano owners have had the same problem and this is a realy safety concern but i fear that nissan will only do something once someone dies from it.

2006 nissan murano drivers seat and sun visor. my 2006 nissan murano has had two parts fail that i believe are a safety concern and warrant a recall. the 1st part is the drivers seat. i'm not a large person but the left side seat bracket broke and now my seat rocks left and right. i can't raise the seat up and down because only the right side works. the seat also bounces up and down. apparently this is a very common problem with the murano and nissan's excuse is wear and tear. seriously??? nissan offered to replace the driver's seat for $1000 +. the second part that has failed is the driver's sun visor. whenever i hit a bump, the sun visor swivels down and totally blocks the drivers view out the window. this is not safe. nissan offered to replace the sun-visor for $350.

I have a 2006 nissan murano with 29k miles. while driving in normal conditions i felt a pop in my driver's seat and heard a metalic sound from under the seat. from that point forward the driver's seat has felt unstable and would move freely during turns and normal acceleration/braking. this incident seems common based on an internet search and is referred to as a back-left leaning problem. a technical bullitin was issued but no recall. this seems extremely unsafe and should be treated as a manufacturing design defect.

Driver's seat wobbles and is unstable when raised to comfortable driving height, does not appear to be attached in back left corner.

My 2006 murano driver seat broke while driving. it leans very far to the left when turning. this is a very dangerous situation. it is a reasonable expectation that a seat would stay attached to a vehicle for the life of the car. nissan has declined to fix the seat.

I am a 5'9 woman who weighs 150 pounds. my nissan murano drivers seat tips whenever i make a right hand turn. i took the vehicle into my nissan dealer to have them look at and possibly fix the problem and was told it would cost me $1000 to have the problem resolved due to a thin weld that broke. it seems as though this should be a safety issue that nissan would be willing to correct with low or no cost associated with it to the consumer.

2006 nissan murano drivers seat anchor no longer works. the drivers seat in my wife's 2006 murano is tilted towards the drivers side door and rocks and appears loose when entering or exiting the vehicle. in my opinion there is the potential danger that the suit can more easily become fully unanchored if the vehicle is involved a collision. a. this seems like a significant safety defect in that an obvious layer of driver protection has been significantly compromised. i do not feel it's appropriate for numerous individuals to become injured before the manufacturer is required to fix the defect and urge the nhtsa to mandate that the manufacturer correct this problem. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan murano. i was driving down the road, and the driver seat made a snap sound, and suddenly leaned to one side. it took me a few seconds to realize what had happened, and get control of the car. i have checked with nissan, and they are telling me it is going to cost $1,000.00 to fix the seat, and that this is a recurring problem with these cars. this seems to be a safety issue to me and a recall has been issued. i have contacted nissan corporate with this issue as well, and have received no response. i have also done online research, and this seems to be a problem with multiple years of these muranos. *tr

2006 nissan murano broken seat bracket. i have had my car in for a seat clicking several times during 3/36 warranty and was told there is nothing wrong. i have a 2006 nissan murano with an extended warranty, several days ago the seat bracket broke when driving on the highway, this was a big surprise, i swerved several times and almost caused a major accident. i took the car to nissan and they said it was not covered under my warranty, it would cost 800 to fix i contacted their consumer affairs and they also don?t care to fix it even though they know it is a design flaw. this is very dangerous and should be an issue that requires a recall because there are many of these cars on the road and many people complaining on web forums. i am now driving a vehicle with a broken seat which is dangerous but i don't have 800.00 to get it repaired. *tr

Broken frame assembly in driver's seat for 2006 nissan murano. normal wear & tear, no specific event caused this damage. the seat rocks and is a safety hazard. according to the dealership the seat bracket and lift motor assembly need to be replaced. the dealership estimates the repair cost for parts and labor to be $680. this is not a wearable part that is ever supposed to break, and was poorly designed. *tr

I bought a used nissan murano 2006 at 42000 miles. everything was perfect at the beginning, two months later my seat started making very squeaky noise. until yesterday i kept driving having no idea what is going on. on my way to work my driver seat snapped on the left side. i almost crushed because it happened so suddenly. i am glad that it happened at night and there was no cars around me. apparently there is many complaints about nissan defective seat and dealers are charging close to 900$ to fix the problem that should not even occurred ever. *tr

I own a 2006 nissan murano with approximately 105,000 miles. i weigh 160 pounds and do 95% of my driving on a highway. while driving on a highway, the frame supporting the driver seat cracked causing the seat to become unstable and creating a hazardous situation. as a result, i have to keep the seat in the lowest possible position, otherwise it becomes highly unstable. the dealer estimated the repairs at $1,035. the result of my research of this defect disclosed that it is a fairly common occurrence for 2006 nissan muranos. however, when i contacted nissan and explained the situation, they responded that there is no recall for this defect and they will not be able to reimburse me for any portion of the repair. *tr

My 06 nissan murano is having an issue with the seat moving from side to side around corners and such.... i have found several forums on this and it is obviously a known issue... yet when you go to the dealer, they say tough luck and it is $900 to fix.... that is wrong... this is a known safety issue and should not cost me to have fixed... i am at risk every time my wife or myself drive the vehicle and this is something that should be fixed without charge... imagine how much it will cost if we get in an accident and we sue nissan for not fixing a known issue.... i am not asking for anything other than having my seat fixed for safety reasons..... *tr

While driving, the driver seat suddenly broke loose, startling the driver but thankfully kept the vehicle under control. upon inspection noticed the rear out side metal bracket is cracked in half at two places. seat is not secure and unsafe to drive. apparently there are many known issues with this. action should be taken to prevent any deaths, not after deaths occur. common sense should prevail here and recognize there is a design flaw that is a serious threat to drivers, passengers other motorists, and pedestrians. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan murano and on the left side the seat dropped down while driving at approximately 35 mph after hitting a bump. previously i had taken the dealer with complaints of rocking and clicking sounds but no condition could be found. after the seat broke i took it to my local dealer who per tsb05-043c found drivers seat lifter broke and replaced lifter link under nissan factory warranty. the seat still does rock but is attached to the left side and is secure. i am contacting the local dealer for their response to the issue. *tr

2006 nissan murano driver seat broke loose from track, almost wrecked vehicle getting to the dealer. this should be under a recall w/ mnfctr , but nissan will not pay for the repairs in full (met me at 50%), but this is a serious defect that is not that uncommon from what i have read now. this must be recalled. *tr

I own a 2006 nissan murano and it currently has approximately 56000 miles on it. the seat drivers side seat frame/track is currently broken. this causes the seat to tilt toward the door and also it is not fully attached. we attempted to address the defect with nissan and john miller of field operations at kelly nissan. they first told us that we were responsible for fixing the defect for $860.00 and then reduced it to $350.00. after we indicated that it was a defect and the manufacturer should pay for it, the offer was retracted. my wife dawn grochowiak was spoken to in an unprofessional manner after indicating she was pregnant and feared for her safety. *tr

2006 nissan murano driver seat broken at 73k miles. this is a major safety concern as the welding under the seat snapped while i was driving at 65mph and the seat now rocks back and forth. car is out warranty and nissan wants $1,000 to fix this problem. after some internet research, i have learned that this is a very common problem in 03-07 muranos. my seat is no longer stable and if i were to get into an accident i do not know what would happen. there should be a recall issued. *tr

The issue is with the front driver's side seat in my 2006 nissan murano. a part in the track has broken and now the seat sways back and forth when sitting in at and driving. it was started creaking several months ago, but just finally snapped about 2 months ago. the dealer has said it will cost upwards of $1000 to fix this, but i have seen countless other reports of this same problem online, so it sounds like this should be a recall on nissan's part to address this clear safety issue.*tr

Was traveling close to 70mph on freeway when driver seat completely broke. my body collapsed to the left side and forced me to lean against driver door. i swerved and nearly hit a vehicle because of this. apparently, a weld in the seat assembly broke. my vehicle is out of warranty and nissan refuses to cover the damage which is obviously a defect. upon talking to other nissan murano owners, this is a common issue. i still have not repaired the seat as nissan is charging nearly $1,000 for the repair. i currently have wooden blocks underneath the seat to prop it up. occasionally the wood slides out and i have to pull over to replace it for safety reasons. i believe this is a huge safety issue. my vehicle is a 2006 nissan murano with just over 60,000 miles on it currently. *tr

2006 nissan murano defective drivers seat. for no apparent reason seat started to rock form side to side when making turns. i thought it was a loose bolt but could not find one. when i turned the car in at the end of my lease period, nissan wanted to charge me for a broken driver seat molding. i have noticed that there are many other similar complaints. in addition, service managers at nissan have seen this problem frequently. this happens from metal fatigue and during normal wear and tear, not be abusive driving habits. there should be a factory recall on this issue. *tr

2006 nissan murano. front driver's 8-way power seat. my wife told me that one side of the seat, the right (transmission selector) side, was jammed and would not move forward and back causing the seat to pivot in position. i could not see an foreign object stuck under the seat that would cause this so i took it to the local chrysler dealer. they told me that the gears that mesh together to direct the movement of the seat were stripped and that the entire 8-way rack mechanism had to be replaced, to the tune of over $900.00!!. the service tech said that this was a common problem on the murano and is usually caused when the driver leans back hard against the back of the seat and lifts up his or her fanny, as when entering the vehicle and adjusting pant legs or a dress before starting to drive (something everyone does all the time). after reluctantly paying to have this work done i took the old seat rack home and took it apart. sure enough, two gears on the right-hand side of the rack were stripped of several worm-teeth, however, the gears themselves are less than 1/2 in diameter and made of cheap nylon! you would think that these would be made of metal. also, the gears themselves could be removed quite easily from the assembly. i don't understand at all why the entire seat assembly had to be replaced except as a profit maker for the dealer. after seeing all of the exact same complaints on this particular vehicle on various car complaint web-sites it is obvious that nissan should be required to recall these vehicles and replace these defective gears.*tr

My wife was driving down the road and made a left hand turn and the driver's seat suddenly tipped to the right. what had happened is the seat track broke on the left side and must now be replaced. consequently, the seat tips to the right every time you make a left hand turn. it tilts to the left when sitting in it. i believe that if we were to get in an accident prior to the repair the seat would dislodge from its mount. we had the dealer check out the problem and the seat track assembly is available for order and replacement. it will take 2-4 days to receive the part. this vehicle is only three years old, the repair is over $800 and not warrantied past 36,000 miles. *tr

Turned a corner at normal speed and was almost tossed out of the seat. the seat lifted in the back left corner of the drivers seat. not a pleasant or safe feeling to have your seat feel like it is flying off of the floor. a car seat should remain firmly attached to the seat. even if the seat itself doesn't cause accidents for people - the feeling you get of losing control could easily cause a driver to steer into an accident. i was shocked to read online how many people have this problem and the general lack of concern about it from nissan. this is a driver safety issue and very alarming to have happen to you while turning onto a busy road. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan murano and the driver's seat suddenly became unstable while driving. it snapped back several inches mid drive and now rocks from right to left. i am told the repair is going to cost upwards of $1000 and it will not be covered under warranty. i have read numerous descriptions of the same problem and am now concerned that i am unsafe while driving. *tr

Driver seat wobble, left and right. having this problem for past 3 months. dealer says it will cost $900 to fix. i can feel something is broken under the seat. my wife needs to adjust it to go forward, we are always afraid if seat will come loose when moving forward. *tr

I was driving my 2006 nissan murano s awd (bought new in january 2006) when the driver's seat snapped to the rear left nearing causing an accident on the highway. there is a tsb on this problem and i have become a member of a large group that can expect the seat frame to break every 2 to 3 years. it seems that nissan has a design problem that needs to be addressed, but not at my expense or life. this should be viewed as an extreme safety issue. the dealer fix is over $1000 since there is no safety recall at this time. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. while driving approximately 35 mph and proceeding to turn left, the driver's seat began to tilt to the left without assistance. the failure occurs when making left turns. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and the adjustment anchor bracket was deemed to be the cause of the failure. the repair cost was estimated at $1,000. the vehicle has not been repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 65,000 and current mileage was 70,000.

The driver seat if my 2006 nissan murano rocks back and forth and side to side. i found this out by making a left turn at a light and my seat just popped and i leaned into the door. now it wiggles back and forth even when not driving it. *tr

There was no warning but one day the driver's seat stopped moving on the left side. essentially, the seat would just hook to the left whenever i tried to move the seat and whenever you started the car (since this car has an automatic seat adjust feature upon starting and turning off the engine). i took the car to the dealership to see what the problem was and it resulted in needing a new seat track. unless the repair is made, which nissan consumer affairs will not take responsibility for, the seat remains in a position that is not appropriate for me, the main driver. additionally, i am the only driver of this vehicle and would not ever move the seat causing this damage to it. the vehicle has a feature that causes the seat to move each and every time you get in and out of it, on it's own. this is what caused the damage since i never manually move the seat. i have seen many other complaints about this same issue on websites such as nissanmurano.org. this is a safety issue. nissan will not rectify this issue and has not recalled the vehicle for this problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. on may 5, 2009, the contact noticed that the driver's seat was tilted. the frame appeared to be misaligned. the vehicle was taken to the dealer because the contact suspected that some screws were loose. the dealer stated that the seat frame failed and needed to be replaced. the contact feels that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect because the vehicle was only three years old. the current and failure mileages were 55,000.

Entered vehicle today after work and as soon as i sat in the drivers seat, there was a loud popping noise. seat flopped back as i was getting in. seat rocked back and forth on the way home. upon inspection, noticed left rear seat frame was broken. this appears to be a common problem being reported by hundreds of other murano owners. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. while driving between 55-60 mph, the brackets failed underneath the driver's seat. a nissan repair shop welded the brackets back in place in march of 2009. the failure only occurred once. the contact has a repair order from the shop for $300. the failure mileage was 53,000 and current mileage was 56,000.

The drivers seat in my 2006 nissan murano broke. i had the seat back part replaced, however, it broke again within a week. will be going back to glenn nissan in lexington again. this is ridiculous. nissan needs to step up to the plate on this one! *tr

Was driving down the road doing 25mph to the intersection and made a left hand turn on the already green light. while in the middle of the turn the back left portion of my seat lifted up several inches causing me to lean suddenly to the right. managed to regain control through the turn. now when making left hand turns i have to hold on to my door handle with my left hand to avoid causing the seat to lift and lean extremely to the right even under mild speed. once i got home i took the left side plastic panel off the drivers seat and upon lifting up the rear left corner of the seat could see where the cross support bracket had broken the two small contact points with the side bracket. will try to take it to the local nissan dealership tomorrow to hopefully have repaired/replaced under warranty. *tr

Nissan murano 2006 model, seat assembly bracket broke (part # 87450-ca68a )... and as i checked i found out that it has happened with many other murano guys as well... this is dangerous if it breaks again while driving and looks like a faulty part, spent around 500 dollars to get ot done... *tr

The bracket holding the driver's seat in the rear left section of the seat has broken. the car has 41,000 miles and is a 2006 nissan murano. i did some research and this seems to be a very common problem. the result is a seat that now leans and is only connected to the mounting points at 3 locations instead of 4. *tr

I was driving my 2006 nissan murano (purchased new january 2006) with about 45k miles on it when---while driving, the drivers seat rocked to the left/left rear, clearly broken. side-to-side lurching movement of the seat happens constantly. i took it to the nissan dealership where i bought the car in cedar rapids iowa. they told me the drivers seat track was broken and gave an estimate of $1,035.09 to repair. this included $675.30 drivers seat track part. the part number listed on the estimate was 87450-ca06a this was not covered under warranty due to mileage (47k at time of their diagnosis). this has to be a major safety concern, particularly if any accident occurred, at which time a secured seat would be imperative. i can't imagine that this basic equipment has a lifespan of less than three years, yet when i researched this incident online, i found many, many complaints of the same broken seat in 2006 and 2005 murano model years. *tr

Recently purchased a 2006 nissan murano. i thought my seat was not adjusted properly, but i now realize the seat is broken. the seat leans to the left so much, that it makes it very uncomfortable to drive. this is ridiculous on a car with 40,000 miles and just three years old. *tr

I had a failure of the drivers seat in my 2006 nissan murano. after checking with the parts department at my local nissan dealer (olathe nissan) i found the part broken was part number 87450+a. replacement of that portion of my seat will result in a cost of approximately $650.00 parts, plus labor for installation. i'm still within the 3 year warranty period, but over the 35k mile and was told this would not be covered under warranty. there is a tsb on this problem and seems as i have become a member of a large group that can expect the potential for having this repair every 2 to 3 years. it seems that nissan has a design problem that needs to be addressed, but not at my expense life or money. this should be viewed as an extreme safety issue, as it broke when i was driving making it very difficult to drive! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. while driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions, the front driver's side seat unexpectedly collapsed backwards. the driver maneuvered the steering wheel to avoid traffic and pulled over to the side of the road. the vehicle was cautiously driven to her residence and then taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the technician recommended that the seat frame be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired because the failure was excluded from the extended warranty. currently, the vehicle is inoperative. the failure and current mileages were 43,633.

Drivers seat frame broken at rear left corner resulting the seat rocking when cornering and eventually collapsing at the left rear corner. dealer refused to accept responsibility although after several complaints offered to reduce the part price to dealer cost ($750.00) with no reduction in labor costs. this is a clear safety issue, the car is less than 3 years old and must be recalled. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan murano. approx. 6 months ago the driver's seat would start squeaking whenever i made any turns or drove over bumps. it sounds like plastic grinding. on 12/12/08, i sat in the seat and the frame broke. the driver's seat now rocks from side to side whenever you turn. this is a safety issue as your feet will come off the gas or break whenever you turn. i went on the web, and there are several public forums from murano owners complaining about the same issue. nissan is aware of the problem, but will not take any any action. the local nissan dealer will only replace the whole seat for $1,200.00 and not try to fix the root of the problem. if they want you to buy a whole new seat, what is to prevent this from occurring again? unacceptable. nissan needs to recall this seat, because it is a safety issue. *tr

I was driving along and i heard a snap when i got home i looked under the seat and indeed the seat frame bracket snapped in two places. the back left bracket of my drivers seat snapped in a y pattern. i have not replaced it yet because nissan wants $900 to replace it. i feel that it is a manufacture defect not normal wear and tear. it is a definite safety issue, when your left rear anchor is not holding your seat in place. *tr

After owning my 2006 nissan murano for just over two years the lower seat brace has broken and the seat leans and lifts in a left hand turn. i have researched this problem online and have found many complaints for the exact same problem. this i feel is a safety issue that the company is unwilling to fix at no cost. i hope the numbers of complaints will trigger some response. thank you for your consideration. *tr

On oct. 19th my wife was driving are 2006 nissan murano, i was in the passenger seat and are son was in the back. we had just pulled away from the house and we heard a load pop. my wife said i think the seat just broke. we continued on to home depot and there i examined the seat and yes the seat was broken as the back left section of the seat is unattached from the frame and can be raised and lowered at will. we called the local dealership monday oct. 20th and they reaffirmed that the seat assembly was broken and the part would be 615.00 and the labor another 200 plus dollars. i made a call to consumer affairs and after almost two weeks of discussions with them they were willing to only allow for a 200.00 good will reimbursement. i explained that this is not a mechanical part but a structural part and that it should not have broken especially on a 2 year old vehicle with 53000 miles. i explaining that the car was unsafe to drive in its condition and that nissan should stand behind it. there are many instances of individuals having this same issue if you search the web for it as well as a service bulletin post by nissan about this issue. this is a structural part not a mechanical part and with it broken it makes the car unsafe for me, my wife and our son. we will have the vehicle repaired on oct. 31 as are family is dependent on the vehicle for transportation. *tr

My 2006 nissan murano felt as though the drivers seat was leaning to the left. then it became obviously loose/wobbly, so much so that it feels as though the seat will fall over going around a turn. i had it checked and was told there was a mechanism that had broke under the seat, that the whole thing would have to be replaced and could cost as much as $1,200! it doesn't seem safe, yet i don't have that kind of money, and now seeing that this is a common occurrence w/ murano's-certainly nissan would have to take responsibility and do a recall before someone gets injured because of this. i find driving it myself is getting more difficult because of how wobbly the seat is-but i can't afford to fix it. when the seat leans, the steering wheel gets pulled too. this is a serious safety issue. *tr

I started noticing that the seat was leaning to the left more and more. i looked under the seat and a seat bracket under the driver seat in my car has broken. although this seams to be a serious safety issue the dealer refuses to fix it unless i pay over $1000. i did a search online, and found that this is a fairly common problem in this vehicle. *tr

The driver side seat bracket gave way when i was driving my nissan murano. no warning sings or hints of instability was displayed before the break. bracket meaning the device that holds the seat to the frame, mounted to the car floor. researching this problem i found it this is a common occurrence with the nissan murano the dealer is denying this fact. your attention on this matter is appreciated. *tr

I purchased a used 2006 nissan murano in march of this year. yesterday i was getting into my car to go home from work and was placing my laptop computer bag in the backseat and rested my hand on the driver's seat. the seat was noticeably unstable and unsecured. i investigated under the seat to determine whether or not it had become detached from the track, it had not, the power seat still moves back and forth. i drove it home with my seat unlevel and my husband took a look and discovered the thin metal support rod had broke at the connection point. this has never happened to me on a car ever. i am very disappointed that a more expensive car would miss a step so critical to comfort. *tr

Our vehicle is a 2006 nissan murano. on february 10, 2008 we noticed the drivers seat was broken (it was rocking back and forth). we brought the vehicle to decormier nissan in manchester, ct who replaced the seat. the seats welded steel frame was broken. we were told that this was not covered by the security plus extended warranty but that it would have been covered under the 3 year 36,000 mile original manufacturer warranty. it cost us $1,069.62. the vehicle had 40,040 miles on it when we brought it in for this repair. *tr
