This is the second time the driver's side visor has suddenly broken and come down to block my view in the middle of driving. i replaced the original for the same problem 3 years ago. seems the issue was not actually fixed. it now falls down regularly and suddenly blocks my view. i'm told its $400 to fix it again. why hasn't it been recalled? there is obviously a dangerous problem with these visors.

The passengers and drivers sun visors suddenly began falling down as the vehicle is driving and goes over any dip or minor bump in the road. the visor drops and blocks the drivers view of the road. the same occurs on the passenger side. the visors will not stay up in the closed position. this is apparantly a defect in the 2006 muranos and nissan should recall the murano for thsi issue.

The sun visor suddenly dropped blocking my view of the road. it then would not stay up. the mechanism inside the visor itself is faulty.

While operating the vehicle the sun visor drops down unexpectedly, completely obstructing the driver's view. this has occurred approximately four times since the first incident approximately four days ago. when this happens the driver's view of the road is completely obstructed and due to the sudden and unexpected nature of the sun visor dropping down this could easily cause an accident. it is very frightening when it happens.

Hello - i have been reading multiple threads on the nissan forum, on facebook and elsewhere regarding nissan murano sun visors from 2006 and other years that fail and flop down.... on the passenger side this is not as much of a safety issue, however, on the drivers side it is... an unexpected blocked sight vision coupled with traffic will (if it has not already) result in an accident, injury or death to someone....the two visors are not interchangeable. nissan will fix it (if under warranty) but they are counting on the failure happening after warranty and then charging a hefty price for a driver's side replacement, and/or human ingenuity to allow owners to try fix the problem them selves.... velcro does not work, switching visors leads to the vanity mirror door flopping down as well..... we have such an issue with our 2006 nissan murano... it should be required for nissan to recall and repair these on 2006 and other tears which use part # 96401 for a driver's side sun visor before they are faced with a lawsuit... a copy of this complaint is going to my personal attorney.... thank you....

I bought a 2006 murano with 61000 miles on it four months ago. the transfer case went on it this past week. estimated cost? $3300.00! the nissan dealership it was purchased from basically told me i am outta luck because the warranty is up. i did my research and the transfer case is a known problem with the awd vehicles. why has this not be recalled? why is nissan not standing behind their vehicles?!?! i contacted the nissan corporation and to no avail either. i should not have to pay this much money for a car that only has 63000 miles on it now and have only had four months! obviously there is a greater issue here. customer retention is not at the top of nissan's list apparently and selling faulty vehicles is. very disappointed with the lack of assistance.

The driver side sun visor will no longer stay up. while you are driving it drops down into your eyeline impairing your visibility. they same thing happened to my passenger side but the vehicle was still under warranty so they covered it. i believe this is a defect and can be a danger. i have spoken with numerous other murano owners who are experiencing the same problem. nissan has no intention of fixing this problem. i guess they are waiting for more accidents to happen.

The driver side sun visor does not stay in place. it is either up or down and will flip down on its own during driving creating dangerous driving conditions. nissan wants approximate $300 for a new part that they should replace.

I am having problems with the drivers side sun visor in my nissan murano. it will just drop down suddenly. at first i was able to pull the visor down and move it foward to help protect my eyes from the sun. but that didn't last long since it will just fall straight down and block my view. when it falls i can not see the cars in front of me. i am not a tall person but i would have to be extremely small to see under the visor when it falls in straight down position. the other day, i was driving on the freeway and my sun visor suddenly dropped straight down .it really startled me cause i lost visability. i screamed cause i could not see the cars in front of me like i mentioned earlier. as quickly as i could i lifted the visor and held it in place and continued by journey. it was pretty nerve wracking. i could have gotten into an accident and injured my passengers, myself and other drivers. and with traveling at high speed it's was an extremely dangerous situation. my dealer said the cost to repair would be around $500. i feel nissan should take responsibility for this and issue a recall but i haven't seen any yet. this sun visor issue is very dangerous to all of us out there on the road drivers and passengers.i hope something can be done about this. thank you for listening.

Driver's side visor dropped by itself from storage up position to almost completely block my view of the road while traveling in traffic. could not see where i was going for a few seconds until i ducked down to see the road. visor would not stay up or stay in any reasonable position such that it could be used for driving. since that original incident, has happened many times - checking with nissan yielded no satisfactory response. this is a serious safety issue, and based on reviewing online forums, is a pervasive problem for many, many nissan murano owners. as far as i can tell there has been no recall. additionally, other owners report that replacing the part is only a temporary fix. the problem has also now been occurring wit the passenger side visor.

Our nissan murano has a driver side sun visor that failes to remain up while driving. it will continually fall down without warning, this is not only a surprise, it blocks our view suddenly. nissan refuses to replace it even with our extended warranty. we know it is a serious safety issue, we have removed it from the vehicle.

Recently my 2006 nissan murano started making grinding noises when going up hills and turning corners. after taking it to a few shops who said it might be the cvt transmission that was covered under an extended warranty since so many people have had issues, i went and took it to the dealer. their diagnosis was a electronic coupler assembly failure which has to do with my rear differential. the car is not balancing the load properly and the transmission is slipping. there is a 2 month waiting list for this part because it has gone bad in so many nissan vehicles. yet there has been no recall and no extended warranty put on it. the vehicle is said to be relatively unsafe to drive but they are months out on getting parts in for it to be fixed.

My driver side sun visor is broken. it flips down on its own all the time while driving. this is the second time filing a complaint form. i never received a response from my first complaint form. i was on the higway again and it fell multiple times almost causing me to get into an accident. i know this isn't just my murano with this problem. many people have this same exact problem.

While driving at approx. 45 miles per hours the sun driver's side sun visor suddenly lowered from the up position, completely blocking my view of the road in front of me. this problem persisted intermittently then the visor would not stay in the up position at all. i had to remove the visor in order to see, but i am then blinded by the sun at times creating an equally dangerous situation. i have read several online forums and this is an ongoing issue that needs to be fixed. there is no fix for the visor, just a forced replacement at $300.00.

Power steering hose is leaking, power steering fluid is flammable. upon doing research numerous nissan murano owners have encountered the same defect. repair cost is between $400-500. if the manifold were to get hot enough and power steering fluid came into contact it is a fire hazard.

A few days before aug 31st the murano started slipping gears. it was taken to a dealership on aug 31st where the error code, stepper code, came up which is part of the cvt, the transmission. they replaced the transmission, under extended warranty and this did not fix the problem. they replaced the valve body again, the control module, and the wire harness, none of which has fixed the problem. we are 10 weeks in the shop and they cannot find the problem. a nissan engineer is now coming out to look at it wanting to replace the valve body for the third time. they have replaced this now going on three times with new parts and it is not fixing the problem. this car is not a safe car to drive anymore. the dealership told me last week that we would have resolution, whether this was a buyback or whatever by last friday. last friday they called and now they are now flying in an engineer, this is not a resolution. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle especially with two small children. the vehicle has been in the shop for going on 10 weeks now and i feel the dealership and nissan are doing everything they can not to resolve the problem. this needs to be taken care of.

Fuel level sensor circuit, fuel taank assembly, fuel level circuit sensor high input car will not pass emissions testing nissan usa does not respond to phone calls or call back regarding request for recall. this item was recalled on several other nissan's , but not the murano. nissan states emissions control warranty on fuel systems is only for 3 years and my time is over since the car is now 5 years old . since july of 2010 67,000 miles the tank has been telling me i am empty when i reach half a tank of gas the car thinks its empty, i had no intention of fixing it since i know how much gas is in the car but now that it won't pass emissions testing, i test every 2 years and sept 15, 2011 car went in for testing and failed due to this fuel problem, due to cost to fix, i have dealt with poor fuel economy and fuel sensor/gauge malfunction but now i can't put my car on the road anymore due to not passing emissions and not being able to renew my license plates. carl now has exactly 73,000 miles on it.

My driver seat just went loose and it is not safe to be driving in that condition also add that both sun visor falls down and will not stay up blocking my view. i called nissan about it and the person that answered my call just told me i'm very sorry to hear that, but none of you murano problems are on recall so you would have to pay out of your pocket. i will appreciate if you can help me ( and hundreds of costumers) with this issue that nissan just kept on getting away with it, i been very close to crash due these problems and seems that nissan do not care about safety only money.

My husband noticed around 65,000 miles that the sun visor on the driver side doesn't stay up. it happens all the time. probably every five minutes of driving. if the road is bumpy, forget it. it just slams down, affecting my line of sight. my father is terrified to drive my car, because of it. all i can do is flip back up and turn it to a slight angle. paying 300 dollars for a new visor is unrealistic. every nissan forum says they just break again. i'm thinking of buying a different car, because of it.

This complaint regards the sunvisors on the driver's side of a 2006 nissan murano. the current sunvisor fails to stay up (parallel with vehicle roof) or canted. it falls constantly, obstructing the view of the roadway for drivers. additionally, the configuration of the visor is such that it is likely to fall when driver's need their vision the most-- upon hitting uneven or rocky pavement, striking debris in the road, or making necessary evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident. this problem appears to be widespread with nissan muranos, as several forums discussing the issue are visible on the internet. one such forum is nissanmurano.org. the site lists approximately eleven pages of car owners and other individuals discussing the same problem. the current remedy suggested by nissan is a $500 replacement visor, which is not covered by extended warranty. this figure seems unreasonable for the severity of the problem, its widespread occurrence, and the potential consequences of having an internal vehicle accessory fall over the eyes of the driver at any moment.

Floppy sun visors 2006 nissan murano. both sun visors will no longer remain in place. they impair/block sight and are very distracting. this makes it very unsafe to drive as you have to keep fighting with the visors to move them out of the way so you can see. many, many other murano drivers have the same problem. this is clearly a problem nissan needs to address/recall before major accidents occur because you can't keep both hands on the wheel since you have to keep moving the floppy visor out of the way so you can see. not being able to have a clear line of sight with a visor constantly in your way is a serious problem. i have tried to find a solution for this problem but nothing seems to work. it is a manufactoring/design malfunction. this problem is just as bad as people driving while on their cell phones. dangerous.

 Driver side sun visor failure
10/21/201065000
2006 nissan murano; driver's seat fell down at the rear of the seat. dealer states that it is a commonly known failure of the seat's lift assembly. thankfully, i was on a straight road and no other vehicles were nearby when it happened. i swerved at the time and strained to pull over safely b/c i couldn't reach the pedals very well with the seat in the awkward position it was in. for sure, this could have been a disaster, and is a disaster waiting to happen on many vehicles. it's my understanding that poor manufacturing is to blame. really, this should be recalled and replaced. what a danger!

Left and right sun visors on 2006 nissan murano became floppy/droopy (i.e. would not stay in position) in 2008. very dangerous as they droop down into the eye's of driver or passenger and won't hold position when needed to block out sun.

As i drove my nissan murano off the lot the driver side sun visor wouldn't stay in place. kept falling blocking my veiw while i am driving. the next day i called the dealership & they say that it wasn't covered under the warranty & they will replace it for $400 for a new one. i did get an used one somewhere else & it too doing the same thing.

Drivers side sun visor of 2006 nissan muano drops down unexpectedly while driving. this is a safety hazard and is startling to the driver. when it drops down it also impairs vision. it can drop 2-3 times within a 2 mile stretch of highway. it will not stay in it's upright position. i took the vehicle in to bankston nissan dealership in lewisville, tx, and was told that nissan would not repair or replace the defective visor because it was considered cosmetic and was not covered under warranty. i then called nissan's customer care department and was told the same thing. this is very frustrating. the car is only 4 yrs. old and in excellent condition. the dealer told me that the cost to replace the sun visor would be $458.00. when i went online to try and find a less expensive replacement visor i discovered that there were many other people experiencing the same problem, from at least as far back as 2004. the visor has to be defective and nissan should assume responsibility for fixing it. this sun visor, in it's present condition, can be responsible for causing an auto accident.

This complaint is on the 2006 nissan murano, on 5/29/10 my grandmother and myself got into the vehicle when i turned the vehicle on there was aburning smell i checked under the hood and saw nothing i got back in and checked the dashboard to see if there was any maintenance issue and saw nothing. as we were getting out fo the vehicle my grandmother stated she felt heat on the areaof the armrest. i came inside for no more than 5 minutes and when i cam back out the interior of the vehicle was on fire between the front passenger seats i immediately called 911 as a result of this fire the vehicle was a total loss. i have picrues of the aftermath showing that the trunk hatch melted and that the interior was nothing but the frame. up until 5/29/10 there was no indication that anything was wrong when there is a maintenance issue a green wrench pops up on the dashboard screen and the only time that popped up was when the tire rotation maintenance was due. the only maintence that i have had done on the vehicle since purchasing on 11/07/10 was an oil change, the other scheduled maintenance was for 4/17/10 for a tire rotation which was not done because the servcie technician put down for an oil change which was not needed, i had scheduled this appointment online and it was also confirmed online what i was coming in to have done. the mechanic did an oil change and i expalined to him i was not due for an oil change he told me the 2 tires woudl soon need to be replaced on the vehicle therefore ther was no need to rotate an he reset the monitor on the vehicle. i have spoken with the manger of nisssan passport to discuss the damages to the vehicle and he said i would have to speak with nissan about the manufactuing. i have been trying to speak with a consumer affairs representative since about 6/3/10, when i call i am placed on holdam placed over 20 minutes and still have not been able to file a complaint. nissan rep brittanny ext 47118 my file # 6834215
