I purchased a 2001 nissan pathfinder in 2004. the bose 6-disc changer immediately failed. the dealership repaired it because it fell within the 30-day warranty period. it worked for about two months after that and then i got an error message one day when i tried to load a cd and it hasn't worked since. last spring, i took the car in for a tire rotation and balance and my mechanic noted that there was a slight fish-tailing in the back which was caused by deterioration of the rear bushings, and over time, the fish-tailing would get so bad, it could possibly cause an accident when braking. apparently this is a common occurrence in certain pathfinder models, and nissan even corrected the problem in future models of the pathfinder once the problem was discovered. i have read multiple posts to this website as well as others regarding both of these issues in the 2001 nissan pathfinder. how can nissan not be responsible for the repair/replacement of this faulty equipment? the rear bushing problem is a major safety hazard, and i pray for nissan's sake no one is ever killed in an accident because of this issue, because a good attorney will have a field day in court with the class action lawsuit. is nhtsa ever going to do anything about this? based on an article i read located at this website: http://www.wallpaperama.com/forums/nissan-pathfinder-wobbles-problem-rocks-side-to-side-t6838.html, nissan has been aware of this problem since at least 1998 and has even issued a service repair description for nissan dealerships. this is a major expensive repair. someone really needs to help consumers with this problem.

My bose cd changer in my 2001 nissan pathfinder hasn't been working in a couple of years. it comes up with an err2 message. i know it's a common problem in this model and nissan has not responded to any complaints i've had about this. *tr

I purchased a 2001 nissan pathfinder. the 6 disc bose cd player worked perfect for a few years. in 2006 it read err2. i attempted to retrieve the cd's but they would not come out. as a result the player continuously clicked and then eventually stopped. now it does not do anything. i have found this problem to be very common in 2001 pathfinder and infintiy qx4. there is not a cd player made that is compatible with bose that will sound good. to purchase a new one is ridiculous because of the high price through the dealership. i have spoken to many people in forums that have attempted to repair the broken unit only to have it last a few months. i refuse to throw away money and want to have my unit replaced by the dealership at no charge. there is obviously a trend here with the number of complaints and i would like this matter to be handled correctly. *tr

I purchased a 2001 nissan pathfinder from a family member. the bose 6 cd changer comes up with an error message err2. i'm being told that this is a common problem with the vehicle: that nissan knows about but won't acknowledge. i'm trying to make you aware of this. is there any recourse with nissan? *tr

Factory cd changer for 2001 pathfinder le becomes jammed, will not play cds or eject them, shows an error code of err2. after doing research on the internet, i found out that the unit is manufactured by clarion and that many owners of the same vehicle have had the same problem. if nissan know about that problem why don't recall it? *tr

I just purchased a 2001 nissan pathfinder. the 6 disc cd player does not work, it says err2. i was under the impression that everything was in working condition at the time of purchase. when i asked the dealer to fix it at their cost they would not do it. i think this is bad business since i mentioned the fact that i liked that the vehicle has a 6 disc cd when i test drove it. i am finding out that many many people have the same problem with the cd not working. why doesnt nissan recall it and care about customer satisfaction?

2001 nissan pathfinder se had problems with air bags and seat equipment during a major accident.*mr prior to the accident, the consumer purchased an after market westin safari light bar, the installation of the bar caused the air bags not to deploy. it appeared the westin bar prevented the sensors behind the front bumper from being depressed in order to activate the air bags. *jb

My daughter's service engine check light keeps coming on. she has pulled over at the side of the road over and over due to this since we have told her it may be unsafe to continue driving. after doing extensive research, i find that thousands of 2001 nissan pathfinders have this problem. mileage is very low when this occurs. i am taking it in again to have another sensor replaced but this does not seem to solve the problems and the car shakes badly.f hundred/thousands are having this problem with the 2001, why has there not been a recall? e spent 800 on tires because i was told it shook due to this, then they decided it was another sensor.*ak

I purchased nissan pathfinder 2001 on march 2001, and the in-dash 6-cd changer defected first time less than a year within the warranty. it was sent to factory to be refurbished. after that it malfunctioned again twice. after i bought the service manual for the clarion unit i found the problem was caused by plastic gears that continued to break. the plastic will get brittle over time and break or strip out. knowing this, clarion continued to use plastic gears that were known to break during normal usage. this was poor engineering on clarion's part. if the gears were made of something stronger , such as teflon? the gears would no longer break or strip out. i am very disappointed that no one at nissan/infiniti or clarion admitted to this problem. the problem mentioned here could be found in most all of the clarion 6-disc changers installed in nissan/infiniti vehicles. a small group across the u.s. was now spreading the word not to buy nissan/infiniti products because of this single problem. the dissatisfied group was only going to get larger as the number of people find out how nissan/infiniti and clarion were denying this problem. *ak

I purchased an 2001 nissan pathfinder in 2003 and the bose radio w/ 6 cd clarion player. err 2 coded 3-months after i purchased it. i had an extended warranty, it was replaced with a refurbished system of the same. it is 8/08 and the system is broken again, and not covered. what are the chances that this vehicle could go through 2 radios in only 63,000 miles?? ridiculous!!! nissan will not stand by the cheap parts used by clarion in the radio (as researched on the net). i also have an ecm problem, nissan says it needs to be upgraded, but will not pay for it. my check engine light comes on coding there is a problem with the catalytic converter. they told me nothing is wrong with the converter, just an error with the software in the ecm. so now i won't know if the check engine light is on for some thing serious or it is just the converter wrongly coding. *tr

This complaint is in regards to my 2001 nissan pathfinder. the 6-cd in-dash changer does not work. it makes a clicking sound when you try to play a cd and displays err2 on the screen. after researching this problem on the internet, i found that hundreds of other nissan owners have this exact problem. the cd changer is rendered useless once this happens. *jb

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder le that has approximately 74000 miles on it. this summer, the oem 6 disc cd changer by clarion in the car has stopped working properly. it was not used inappropriately or abnormally in any way. i inserted a cd into it, and it displayed err2 on the screen, and began clicking repeatedly, and the cd did not play at all. i was able to eject all cd's from the changer, but the unit continues to not work. in subsequent attempts to play a cd in the changer, the same error err2 displays and i hear the repeated clicking. i have not tried to replace the unit or fix this problem at all. i have done some online research and found that this is a very common defect in nissan pathfinders by readying/joining a forum where hundreds of users are experiencing the same problem. in fact, i have found pay services dedicated to repairing this unit because of the overwhelming population of users with the same problem. i believe nissan should resolve this issue immediately. thanks. *nm

Cd player suddenly stopped working while it was switching from one cd to the next. i did research on the internet and found that hundreds of people are having the same problem with the same pathfinder at about the same mileage. the dealership informed me it would cost $500 to repair. the cd player ate up my cds and i can not get them out unless i take apart the dash and every time i turn on the ignition, i hear a series of clicking noises. there should be a recall on this disk changer. *nm

Factory cd changer for 2001 pathfinder le becomes jammed, will not play cds or eject them, shows an error code of err2. after doing research on the internet, i found out that the unit is manufactured by clarion and that many owners of the same vehicle have had the same problem. i contacted a nissan dealership, they informed me that the unit could be repaired for $230 plus labor and that there was no guarantee. some customers have reported that the problem occurred again after the unit was repaired and/or replaced. since the vehicle is out of bumper to bumper warranty, nissan refuses to do anything about it. i'm not sure if anything has been done about this, but feel it is something that should be researched and that nissan should issue a recall on.*jb

On thursday may 24, 2001, i went to pick up my pathfinder at concord nissan. my pathfinder was in for warranty work, on the power controls for the driver seat and the cd player. dealer had informed me that my 2001 nissan pathfinder le, vin#jn8dr09y71w570077, is ready for pick up. as i go over the repairs, i notice the front driver seat is not bolted in. i go and get the service manager, scott rusche, and when he comes out, he really does not understand why i am upset. as scott stands, chewing gum with his hands behind his back, he casually says, everyone makes mistakes. i tried to get scott to see why it is such a big concern of mine, but i was unable to. i even told scott that his i do not give a shxx attitude was unsettling. i asked to see if the mechanic is qualified to the repairs. i asked if there was a torque specification for these bolts and i was told, not every bolt has torque requirements. this dealership did make a huge mistake by not bolting in the driver seat. i have asked for a written letter of explanation of how this could happen.this mistake could have been catastrophic! bolts that hold a seat in place are not an option; they were engineered to be there for a reason. if these bolts had gone unnoticed a serious accident could have occurred, perhaps even death. this is a major safety issue and at what point is a repair facility responsible for the quality of work they do and safety of their customers?*ak
