 I bought a 2007 pathfinder from a very reputable used car business, carmax almost 3 years ago. they are very well known in the area for thoroughly checking their vehicles before reselling. it had approx 59k miles on it and i've loved it untill recently. i started experiencing heating problems awhile ago but my mechanic couldn't find anything wrong - he even checked the radiator. a few months ago, the transmission would shudder occassionally when i reached about 40 mph. at first it was very minor, i actually thought it was maybe grooves in the road, etc but the issue got worse. i brought it to the dealer and was told i need a new radiator and transmission - this is a widespread problem. i was also told flushing the transmission probably wouldn't help. the radiator is going to cost me $913 and because this is such a widespread problem, a new transmission was the only thing they could find at $7400! i still owe on this vehicle and am wondering how will i ever trade this in or even afford to fix it. nissan won't help in any way, even by discounting the labor and parts and the class action settlement won't help either because my pathfinder has 109k miles on it - 9k over the extended warranty nissan issued. what a disaster. i'm a single mom with a young daughter and a mother i care for. i recently took my family to visit my sister in west virginia, you know - mountains. imagine if something would've happened then. i had no idea all of this was going on and am now terrified to drive it. i've never received notification from nissan that there was a potential issue - i would've brought it to the dealer immediately and been covered for repairs!!! this is a nightmare and nissan should be held responsible in some way. why aren't they standing behind their product at all!! do a couple of hundred people have to get hurt before something is done?

 My wife was driving home from picking up our children from school. she was traveling approx 65 mph when the vehicle lost power, became unstable, and would not accelerate. she said that it was like someone put on the emergancy brake with five times more force than normal almost causing her to loose control of the vehicle. upon taking the vehicle to a repair shop the problem was found to be that coolant had leaked into the transmission and had distroyed the transmission computer and the transmission.

 At 35,500 miles the secondary timing chain tensioner shoes failed. the dealer told me that this is a very common problem with the 4.0l motor. this repair is $1000 and not covered by any remaining warranty. i believe that since thousands of people have had to pay thousands of dollars to repair this defective part it should be a recall. this would be dangerous if this failed while the vehicle was moving at highway speeds, luckily i was driving slow enough to avoid an accident.

 Tl - the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began stalled while the contact was attempting to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician advised that the valve body and radiator needed to be replaced due to a leak in the radiator and the coolant was intermixing with the transmission fluid. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 101,000 and the current mileage was 104,000. kmj

 First issue started while trying to accelerate onto the interstate. the car/engine started shaking between 40 and 50 mph and would not accelerate. i was nearly rear-ended when i had to merge into traffic. other issues were similar, car shaking at 40 to 50mph, like driving over a washed out road. unable to accelerate initially, this would last for several seconds, before finally responding, shaking would go away when speed would exceed 50mph. final safety issue occurred when accelerating after a stop light onto a highway ramp. at 40mph the transmission completely went out, the car would not shift into gear and would not accelerate. i had just started to merge, i had to swerve back onto the ramp lane and stop in the middle of the road. i was nearly hit by the highway traffic and almost rear-ended by a car going back into the ramp lane. cars were forced to slam there brakes to avoid hitting my dead car, it also made it very difficult for other cars to merge onto the highway, several cars narrowly avoided an accident. car was taken to shop, transmission and radiator had to be replaced. radiator defect had caused the transmission to fail. *tr

 I was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden i heard a thud and lost power, had to go over 2 lanes without being hit.... i took it to the shop and the mechanic new excactly what the problems was. radiotor fluid getting into the transmission causing it to fail... hundreds of nissan pathfinder owners are having this problem. tell nissan to recall this now before someone gets killed.. shouldnt have to pay $8000 for nissans crappy work.. *tr

 While driving down the highway my husband and i experienced loss of power and had to pull onto the side of the road. we were towed from there to the mechanic who explained to us that the internal radiator had leaked fluid into the transmission causing failure to both. since our warranty was outdated we are now out 6000$ and are struggling to fix this. i am very frustrated and disappointed in the vehicle. we had our children with and i am very glad that we were not at a busy intersection or interstate. *tr

 At first started noticing hesitation in transmission at 40 mph, confirmed by 2 mechanics trans fluid is milky color and changed fluid at a local service station that had to go to nissan and get their transmission fluid to finish job. now back to milky transmission fluid, have to take overdrive off because gears will not shift, i also carry gallon of water because at any time radiator fluid levels can be low; have to turn air off at long stop lights so temp gauge doesn't go up. *tr

 While driving with the ac on, my vehicle started to blast out hot air through the vents and overheat. my car has never ran hot before, i haven't had any problems since i've had it. i was able to pull over safely and let the car cool down. my husband removed the radiator cap and noticed a milky liquid in the radiator. we had to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic shop and they notified us of the recall on the nissan (2005-2010 models) radiators. they said that it was a common problem that they have been seeing where the coolant mixes with the transmission fluids and cause a major repair problem. we have been told that the radiator, transmission, transmission kit, throttle, vial body, and torque converter will have to be replaced. i feel petrified to know that nissan knew about this existing problem but refused to have these issues repaired rather than taking the easy way out and extending the warranty. we bought our truck brand new from the nissan dealership and we also paid for the 5yr/100,000 mile warranty. i have had my truck for 5 yrs and 2 mths, something should have been done about this. we the consumers have trusted this brand for many years and we depend on our vehicles on a daily bases. my family and i were all in the vehicle when the incident happened we could have been seriously harmed in a high risk situation. we had the 90,000 mileage maintenance completed where they flushed the radiator, changed the transmission, & etc. and everything was fine. my husband have always taken my car in for timely maintenance and no one has ever mentioned the radiator issues. *tr

 My pathfinder recently started grinding into 4th gear around 40 mph and is now lurching forward (as if having a difficult time engaging in 1st gear) after bein stopped. after researching the problem, my issue exactly fits the description of scores of online complaints from pathfinder owners of 2005-07 models who have come to find out that it is a manufacturers' defect of a coolant leaking into the transmission. when i called the nissan north america customer service to inquire about these complaints and register my own, i was told that i would have to have a diagnostics test i order to register the complaint further. i was transferred to a local dealer who confirmed the research: if my transmission fluid was milky reddish in color (which it is), then radiator fluid had leaked into to transmission and it was likely ( from this service rep's experience) that it would need to be replaced at a cost of $3500-$8000. when i inquired about the prevalence of this problem at his dealership, he was well aware of the problem and issue but because of the percentage of cars affected that is known is small in comparison to the number sold in those years, a recall was unlikely. he also indicated that the mileage on my vehicle (107000) made it even more unlikely that nissan would cover the repairs.

 The faulty seal that separates the anti-freeze and transmission fluid mixed and resulted in the transmission failing. this catosphic failure that the manufacturer is admitting to but only giving partial remedy as it may not happen before 80,000 miles. i find myself along with many other customers who are footing the bill for the 8600 dollar repair in tough economic times. when buying a new vehicle it should last long enough to finish paying the car note without any major expenses. this issue needs to be addressed immediately as a recall so the consumer can be reimbursed for terrible engineering that any mechanic will tell you. even the nissan dealers know is is a problem but will not take ownership. is there any assistansce as a consumer?

 When driving down the road 4th gear did not engage at all. had to get over to side of road and check engine light turned on. had to drive it off road at 20/30 miles per hour in busy traffic. have been informed that nissan is aware of the problem but is not accepting any responsibility for not informing us of the problem that they knew about months ago.

 Was told that radiator coolant was mixing with my transmission fluid. i noticed first that the heater wasn't getting very hot a few months ago, but since i live in texas, this wasn't a huge deal for me since it's not that cold and so i was going to have it serviced at my next regular oil change. however, then just a couple of days ago, i noticed that the car would shudder around 45 - 50 mph so i took it in immediately and was told that i was experiencing a known defect of nissan's built between 2005 - 2010. if i had known about 3 months ago (about the time i started noticing the heater issue) i would've been fully covered under their extended warranty of 80,000 miles for this particular defect. but i'm at 84,000 and therefore have to pay $2500 out of pocket for a new transmission and radiator. i feel that i should still be covered since i started experiencing issues before 80,000 miles but i had no idea that it would be such a huge problem that would require a new transmission and radiator on a car that is only 7 years old... *tr

 Transmission began shuttering, not up shifting and limited acceleration and speed on freeway at 55mph. turns out that the transmission oil cooler lines had been leaking anti-freeze into transmission and destroyed it. manufacturer has replaced with same cooler and rebuilt (not new) transmission. issue still exists intermittently. needs recall enforced. manufacturer is pricing same cooler and rebuilt transmission at over $7000. then agreeing to only charge $2500 - $3000 per class action settlement. outside independent repairs quoted at $350 for cooler and less than $2000 for rebuilt transmission. gov.'t recall should cover all new and re-designed parts. failures will and are occurring again. can result in accident at high speeds. *tr

 While driving i noticed a grinding sound when i reached speeds of 40-45 mph. when i pulled in to park the vehicle there was a loud grind and then the vehicle would not start. after checking the fluid levels i found that the engine coolant and the transmission fluid were mixing. *tr

 It was november 2011, i was driving my nissan 2007 at that time i was 9 months pregnant. my daughter who was 5 years old was with me. i was entering the freeway when my car started to shake,make noises and it started to slowdown on its own. i presses the speeding pedal but it kept loosing power. my daughter was crying because she was scare. i was crying too i did not know what to do i was in a dangerous situation because it happen when traffic was at its pick. i could not stop because cars where behind me and i could not speed because my car was loosing power and it smell like something was burning. i manage to get off the freeway with the emergency lights and stop the car at the moment the car die(no power). a tow truck had to take as home. nissan would not fix the problem because of the miles/warranty whichever comes first rule that they have. they would fixed for a lot of money anyway i took it to a shop an i was told it was the radiator which damage the transmission. i had it repair and a few days latter all the emergency lights on the car turn on and went crazy and the car stop at ones this time it was the gas tank. it scare me so much that i call my husband and told him, this car is going to kill me and my children nissan pathfinder is dangerous and something must be done or someone is going to get kill. it is a safety issue please help us. do something we need help pathfinders are dangerous nissan won't fix this factory problem with out getting pay. please a recall needs to get done. i beg you do something this is the usa or not? i know at list 3 more people that had the same problems with this cars and all the mechanics agree that it is a factory problem. i will never buy a nissan it is a lemon! first radiator linkage then liquid in transmission then replace transmission than it will be the gas tank what is next? *tr

 While driving on the highway, i felt my transmission seem to shift very roughly into overdrive, and usually occurred between 40 and 50 mph. over the course of about a year, it continued the behavior off and on, until it began to do it daily and i took it to the shop. it was diagnosed as having had antifreeze leak into the transmission due to the oil cooler lines cracking, a common problem with nissan pathfinders, and other nissan vehicles of my model year. there was metal in the transmission pan which signifies that a rebuild is inevitable, all due to the mixing of antifreeze in the transmission. the radiator must also be replaced due to the mixing of transmission fluid, as the mechanics found the milky substance, typically associated with the mixing of water and transmission fluid in the radiator. so far, i have been quoted approximately 6,300 dollars for a repair job on this vehicle. *tr

 My wife was driving my 8th grade son and his basketball team to middle school game. she was on the freeway going 65 mph, when she felt the car jerk and then start to lose speed, the engine was still running but the car had slipped out of gear. she had no power and luckily she had room to coast to the shoulder. we took the car to the dealer the next day they diagnosed the problem as transmission failure due to radiator fluid in the transmission. we replaced the radiator and coolant lines and flushed the transmission, and it ran fine for a few months. but the check engine light came back on last month, we took it in and now they tell us that we have to replace the transmission. please investigate this issue with the nissan pathfinder, frontier and xterra. it seems to be more and more of a common issue with nissan owners and nissan is not doing anything to repair this very serious and costly problem. i just got an estimate on tuesday (9/4/12) for $9459.00 worth of repairs to the transmission and the radiator. i bought the car new from nissan, and it now has 110,502 miles. *tr

 Wife first noticed a vibration on her way home from school with our daughters. became progressively worse over time. i had tires, bearings, etc checked. no problems found with any of those. looked online and discovered that a lot of pathfinder owners were having transmission problems. checked coolant and found that it had in fact mixed with transmission fluid. i switched the lines from the transmission to trans cooler and radiator to prevent further contamination, and flushed radiator/replaced coolant. also had transmission flushed/fluid changed. the vibration is still present, as i don't have $5000 + for a new transmission/radiator. *tr

 I understand now that nissan pathfinder owner (05-07) have experienced issues with the transmission failing due to defective parts. i now have to have my transmission and radiator replaced to the tune of $7000+. why has there been no recall for this problem? *tr

 If you are not already aware, there have been many problems concerning this vehicle, which are almost all similar to each other. personally i have been experiencing transmission problems which range from: rough engine vibration at 40mph, and 60mph, thermometer spikes when accelerator is engaged at 2500+ rpm, violent jerking of car, loud engine fan, and most importantly loss of forward acceleration when actively pressing on gas pedal. i brought this to a nissan dealer to have this diagnosed and they have confirmed that my initial worries were correct. a defect during manufacturing of this vehicle has caused radiator coolant to leak into the transmission or vice-versa causing the deterioration of both systems. this in turn correlates to engine overheating and many other problems while driving this vehicle also the housing of the timing chain is non-existent. the vehicle diagnosis and price quote for repairs nears the $10,000 mark.a price which is almost half of what i purchased the vehicle for. as of yesterday 3/17/12 my vehicle has lost acceleration power.

 The check engine light stays on the car. also, the fuel delivery system has become a significant hazard in the car. the pathfinder's gasoline gauge indicates that it is half full, but suddenly the yellow light comes on to indicate the car is empty. this is a significant hazard while on the highway and there are times where a gas station may not be easily accessible.

 I havent finished paying off my car and already the transmission of my nissan pathfinder 2007 xl is failing. the radiator spilled the cooling liquid into the transmission, which then proceeded to cause serious problems to the transmission. the guaranty expired after 100 000 miles, even though prior to that the mileage the guaranty still applied. now, in order to fix the transmission, or replace it for a new one, will cost me over $5000usd. i'd like to unite to the existing complaints/lawsuit against nissan on the matter of the faults found in the 2007 nissan pathfinder, as i feel that is unfair that the company with the knowledge of fault in its product has not warned the public and has proceeded to sell the product to the public, leaving us with a faulty machine that in the end is more expensive, and not a satisfactory product. i am hopeful that the company will response to all of our complaints, stepping forward and taking responsibility for the inconvenience they have caused, and hopefully taking ownership of the expenses that due to their lack of responsibility, have been incurred on to us, the consumers.

 As i was driving my 2007 nissan pathfinder (120,000 ,miles) through a busy intersection, i lost the ability to accelerate at all. after a very frightening couple of minutes i was able to steer the vehicle through and coast down a small incline to a nearby parking lot. after threedays our local mechanic determined that he was unable to fix the car, as he concluded that the ecm had failed. the vehicle was towed to the local nissan dealership, who agreed that the problem was the ecm ($1014 repair). after three more days, theyve now told us that the problem is not the ecm, but the fact that the radiator fluid has leaked into the transmission, destroying it. they are quoting a repair cost of $7500. i have been without a vehicle for over a week (renting a car became cost prohibitive), and now will spend the morning trying to find a more cost effective way to have the vehicle repaired. i've learned that this is a common issue of which nissan is completely aware. the coolant leak/transmission failure is in fact a design defect in the vehicle. it is completely unacceptable that nissan has not recalled these vehicles, or at the very least made the repair free for consumers regardless of vehicle mileage. i will never purchase another nissan after this experience.

 My son was on his way to school when i received a call from him informing me that the pathfinder was running hot. i advised him to pull over and wait until i arrive. when i let the hood up, i saw foam-like substances coming from the radiator. i had the vehicle towed to a mechanic shop to have it checked out. he informed me that the radiator had burst and leaked into the transmission. he changed the radiator and informed me that the transmission would stop working soon. since than, i have changed the fluid 3 times @ $60.00 each time and the fuild is still pinkish. now my transmission vibrates between 40 and 50 mph

 Recieved warranty extension on my 2007 pathfinder radiator to 80,000. radiator has faulty transmission cooler inside which leaks into transmission causing transmission failure. why not a recall. called nissan corporate and they said they will only fix the known defect after the failure which of course leaves you stranded somewhere. this makes the vehicle an unreliable mode of transportation, especially on long trips. very dissatisfied with this vehicle due to transmission cooler defects, timing chain tensioner defect, and the fuel gauge inop defect. these are all major defects in which nissan got off easy by warranty extensions and not preventative repairs of known defects.

 Like some of the other complaints, i also had transmission problems with my 2007 nissan pathfinder. in october 2009, with 48,000 miles, my transmission started to act up, shifting in and out of overdrive very abruptly, and violently. also, when i was at a cruising rpm of 1500-2500 rpm, in overdrive, the car would vibrate very violently. i took it to the dealership, and they stated that it was the transmission, and fortunate for me, it was covered under warranty. 6,000 miles later, in february 2010, the problem came back. once again, i took it to the dealer. this time they stated that they found antifreeze in the transmission fluid. they stated that they needed to contact a nissan rep for further instructions. 3 days later i received a call stating the problem (antifreeze was leaking into the transmission lines from inside the radiator, and it needed replaced), and they said that nissan would cover the transmission, but not the radiator. when asked the price of the radiator, they quoted me 650 dollars! the radiator ended up costing me 677 dollars after taxes, and they replaced the transmission under warranty, although they stated that they should not, since the problem was due to the radiator. i see that this was not just a fluke problem with my vehicle, but it seems to be common with this vehicle. something needs to be addressed over this matter, for it is a saftey issue, and someone is bound to get injured, if they have not already. i have found hundreds of complaints online over the leaking and mixing inside of the radiator, leading to the transmission problem. today, on august 24, 2010, i learned that the torque convertor will now need replaced. a 2007 nissan pathfinder with 64k miles, on its 3rd transmission, new radiator, and now will need a torque convertor. this is unacceptable!!! nissan refuses to accept fault for the problem.

 Radiator leaking into the transmission causing transmission damage, requiring a new radiator and transmission. nissan knows this is an issue and has not notified customers to fix this prior to the part failing to prevent major damage. they extended the warranty to 85k miles for that part, but it needs to fail for them to cover the repair. i could have replaced the part for arounf $400 preventing the damage to the transmission, if nissan would have told its customers. now i have had to replace the transmission for $4000 and rent a car for one month at $800. the damage occcured when i was driving. fortunately i was not on a busy highway when the transmission failed. it took so long to fix the transmission because parts are on back order to repair the transmission.

 A high pitched humming/whining noise from under the hood on a 2007 nissan pathfinder. took to dealership and after performing a diagnostic check, they stated that it was the timing chain and it would be $935.00 to repair. i asked that since the car was only two years old with maintenance records shouldn't it be under warranty. they stated that since i had 65,000 miles i missed the deadline by 5,000 miles and it was o.k. to keep driving and not to worry about it. i researched and found that they have had a service bulletin (ntb07-042a) out about this issue since april, 17,2009. i have had my vehicle in a few times since the bulletin came out and feel that they should have notified me especially since i have paid for another bulletin issue regarding the fuel gauge(reference service bulletin ntb07-069b) that cost me $395.00. i feel the dealership is negligent in advising my wife to not worry about the timing chain and to go ahead and deal with it later. it appears that they wanted more mileage to placed on the vehicle so they would have a stronger claim down the road to not pay for the repairs that were mentioned on a bulletin five months prior -which means that issues have existed long before this time frame for a bulletin to be issued. i live in atlanta, ga., a major metropolitan city and i feel that the dealership put my family at risk by advising that the vehicle was safe to drive off the lot because whent he timing chain goes the car looses the capability to function - which is not safe on the busy major interstate system. i have seen a few internet threads that mention similar experiences. regarding the fuel gauge issue (ntb07-069b), this service bulletin came out august 12th, 2009 i had to have this work done on 04/24/2009 and it cost me the $395.00. i have also had the vehicle in and repaired at my cost for service bulletin (ntb07-063)...another bulletin i discovered today. the main point is a timing chain should not go out at 65,000 miles...vehicle = lemon. *tr
