I bought a 2007 pathfinder from a very reputable used car business, carmax almost 3 years ago. they are very well known in the area for thoroughly checking their vehicles before reselling. it had approx 59k miles on it and i've loved it untill recently. i started experiencing heating problems awhile ago but my mechanic couldn't find anything wrong - he even checked the radiator. a few months ago, the transmission would shudder occassionally when i reached about 40 mph. at first it was very minor, i actually thought it was maybe grooves in the road, etc but the issue got worse. i brought it to the dealer and was told i need a new radiator and transmission - this is a widespread problem. i was also told flushing the transmission probably wouldn't help. the radiator is going to cost me $913 and because this is such a widespread problem, a new transmission was the only thing they could find at $7400! i still owe on this vehicle and am wondering how will i ever trade this in or even afford to fix it. nissan won't help in any way, even by discounting the labor and parts and the class action settlement won't help either because my pathfinder has 109k miles on it - 9k over the extended warranty nissan issued. what a disaster. i'm a single mom with a young daughter and a mother i care for. i recently took my family to visit my sister in west virginia, you know - mountains. imagine if something would've happened then. i had no idea all of this was going on and am now terrified to drive it. i've never received notification from nissan that there was a potential issue - i would've brought it to the dealer immediately and been covered for repairs!!! this is a nightmare and nissan should be held responsible in some way. why aren't they standing behind their product at all!! do a couple of hundred people have to get hurt before something is done?

I took my 2007 nissan pathfinder to the dealer to have the brakes worked on and while there they performed a multi point vehicle inspection. from this inspection they informed me that there was cross contamination of the coolant and transmission fluid due to a failed transmission cooler. they indicated that damage had already started and it would only be a short time before the transmission failed completely so i needed to replace the radiator and transmission under the extended warranty and there would be a $3,000 deductible cost. in talking with the dealership service personnel and researching online it is clear that this is a common problem and obviously a design failure which could be a safety issue if the transmission fails while driving due to this known problem. my family and i are thankful that just by chance the brakes needed work otherwise my wife and kids could have been driving and been at risk of potential injury if the transmission failed unexpectedly as has been reported by other nissan pathfinder vehicle owners. due to the number of failures that has occurred it is irresponsible for nissan to just extend the warranty instead of taking a proactive approach and actually notifying their customers of the problem and fixing the known problem under a voluntary recall. i urge the nhtsa to initiate an investigation and hold nissan repsonsible for their design failure and protect the public from the potential safety risk by forcing a mandatory recall to fix the problem instead of just waiting for failure which puts the consumer at risk.

The radiator leaked into the transmission causing the transmission to fail at a critical operational point. the vehicle failed to accelerate, bucked sharply and nearly caused a collision. the vehicles was diagnosed with a catastrophic transmission failure. this is the second major drivetrain failure within 8 months. nissan is aware of substandard deign, parts, and craftsmanship in the 2007 pathfinder that render the vehicle unsafe to operate on public or private roadways. please take action before there are serious injuries related to these defective drivetrains. *tr

Was told that radiator coolant was mixing with my transmission fluid. i noticed first that the heater wasn't getting very hot a few months ago, but since i live in texas, this wasn't a huge deal for me since it's not that cold and so i was going to have it serviced at my next regular oil change. however, then just a couple of days ago, i noticed that the car would shudder around 45 - 50 mph so i took it in immediately and was told that i was experiencing a known defect of nissan's built between 2005 - 2010. if i had known about 3 months ago (about the time i started noticing the heater issue) i would've been fully covered under their extended warranty of 80,000 miles for this particular defect. but i'm at 84,000 and therefore have to pay $2500 out of pocket for a new transmission and radiator. i feel that i should still be covered since i started experiencing issues before 80,000 miles but i had no idea that it would be such a huge problem that would require a new transmission and radiator on a car that is only 7 years old... *tr

Transmission began shuttering, not up shifting and limited acceleration and speed on freeway at 55mph. turns out that the transmission oil cooler lines had been leaking anti-freeze into transmission and destroyed it. manufacturer has replaced with same cooler and rebuilt (not new) transmission. issue still exists intermittently. needs recall enforced. manufacturer is pricing same cooler and rebuilt transmission at over $7000. then agreeing to only charge $2500 - $3000 per class action settlement. outside independent repairs quoted at $350 for cooler and less than $2000 for rebuilt transmission. gov.'t recall should cover all new and re-designed parts. failures will and are occurring again. can result in accident at high speeds. *tr

Car was giving acceleration problems. two days later i was in traffic and car wouldn't go past 10 mph. i was able to pull over just out of the way of speeding traffic. i had to turn the car off then back on for it to start and slowly shift gears. still was only able to go up to 15mph at first, almost got into an accident because of my location. once i kept going it started to speed up to normal speed. immediately i called nissan, but before i was able to get to them my car failed to start. i was sent the recall letter in 2012 for my make/model/year. not right because by that time i received the letter i had already gone over the mileage. even if i was within mileage how can you make the buyer pay up to $3000 dollars for a manufacture defect. one problem is starting to lead to another. first bad tcm then relay. i'm fed up with trying to fix a vehicle that i kept maintained with the necessary maintenance checks. i did everything right as an owner, if my vehicle had been installed with good hardware (transmission/relay/etc.) then i would still have a good running vehicle. i will never buy another nissan again!!!!! *tr

Transmission failure from radiator fluid leakage into the transmission fluid. the cooling system for the transmission runs through the radiator. when the radiator fails radiator fluid leaks into the tranny fluid and destroys the internal transmission clutch plates and torque converter. nissan extended the warranty from 36k to 80k miles or 8 years on the radiator, knowing there was a problem, but no notice from them to owners of this problem. when the problem starts, it is too late, resulting in $6800 - $7500 in personal expenses to replace the transmission and radiator. nissan will not consider fixing after 80k miles. i have 127000 and only 5 years old vehicle. this problem was acknowledged to affect 2005 - 2010 pathfinders. there are hundreds of complaints on this issue on forums, which i find after i have the problem. nissan should recall the radiators and fix the problems. it is a defective $300 radiator that damages a $7000 transmission!... this is unfortunate and irresponsible for nissan and is basically a band-aid on a serious hazard. now my $30,000 vehicle is worth $3,000 to the dealer for trade in.

First issue started while trying to accelerate onto the interstate. the car/engine started shaking between 40 and 50 mph and would not accelerate. i was nearly rear-ended when i had to merge into traffic. other issues were similar, car shaking at 40 to 50mph, like driving over a washed out road. unable to accelerate initially, this would last for several seconds, before finally responding, shaking would go away when speed would exceed 50mph. final safety issue occurred when accelerating after a stop light onto a highway ramp. at 40mph the transmission completely went out, the car would not shift into gear and would not accelerate. i had just started to merge, i had to swerve back onto the ramp lane and stop in the middle of the road. i was nearly hit by the highway traffic and almost rear-ended by a car going back into the ramp lane. cars were forced to slam there brakes to avoid hitting my dead car, it also made it very difficult for other cars to merge onto the highway, several cars narrowly avoided an accident. car was taken to shop, transmission and radiator had to be replaced. radiator defect had caused the transmission to fail. *tr

It was november 2011, i was driving my nissan 2007 at that time i was 9 months pregnant. my daughter who was 5 years old was with me. i was entering the freeway when my car started to shake, make noises and it started to slowdown on its own. i presses the speeding pedal but it kept loosing power. my daughter was crying because she was scare. i was crying too i did not know what to do i was in a dangerous situation because it happen when traffic was at its pick. i could not stop because cars where behind me and i could not speed because my car was loosing power and it smell like something was burning. i manage to get off the freeway with the emergency lights and stop the car at the moment the car die(no power). a tow truck had to take as home. nissan would not fix the problem because of the miles/warranty whichever comes first rule that they have. they would fixed for a lot of money anyway i took it to a shop an i was told it was the radiator which damage the transmission. i had it repair and a few days latter all the emergency lights on the car turn on and went crazy and the car stop at ones this time it was the gas tank. it scare me so much that i call my husband and told him, this car is going to kill me and my children nissan pathfinder is dangerous and something must be done or someone is going to get kill. it is a safety issue please help us. do something we need help pathfinders are dangerous nissan won't fix this factory problem with out getting pay. please a recall needs to get done. i beg you do something this is the usa or not? i know at list 3 more people that had the same problems with this cars and all the mechanics agree that it is a factory problem. i will never buy a nissan it is a lemon! first radiator linkage then liquid in transmission then replace transmission than it will be the gas tank what is next? *tr

*tr

While driving on the highway, i felt my transmission seem to shift very roughly into overdrive, and usually occurred between 40 and 50 mph. over the course of about a year, it continued the behavior off and on, until it began to do it daily and i took it to the shop. it was diagnosed as having had antifreeze leak into the transmission due to the oil cooler lines cracking, a common problem with nissan pathfinders, and other nissan vehicles of my model year. there was metal in the transmission pan which signifies that a rebuild is inevitable, all due to the mixing of antifreeze in the transmission. the radiator must also be replaced due to the mixing of transmission fluid, as the mechanics found the milky substance, typically associated with the mixing of water and transmission fluid in the radiator. so far, i have been quoted approximately 6,300 dollars for a repair job on this vehicle. *tr

After pulling out of the driveway, i felt the transmission acting sluggish. thinking it was glitch, pulled into a 50mph street and almost got hit from behind due to the vehicle not picking up speed. took it to the dealership to have it checked out and they informed me that the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. because i had exceeded my warranty they wanted to charge me $9,900 dollars to repair. i looked online and saw that other people had a similar problem. i called the ed hicks nissan dealership back and informed them of this research. they stated that my problem was a different one so the nissan extended warranty they offered would not cover it. this is clearly a defect that nissan should pay for, as i have done all scheduled maintenance. *tr

2007 nissan pathfinder radiator defect causing leak of coolant into transmission fluid and resulting in transmission/radiator complete damage, undetected by dealer service for 30,000 miles. problem detected with opening of investigation. nissan requires co-pay of $2,500 even though complaints occurred previous to 80k miles and when problem detected, was 414 miles over requiring a significant amount of money for a known defect. *tr

A vibration occurs at about 1500 rpm. at the time my car had about 24000 miles on it. i took the car to a transmission shop and they told me my torque converter was going out. i took the car to a nissan dealer and they told me that there was something wrong but that they could not figure out what it was and therefore it was not covered under the power train warranty. it is now 54000 miles and the car would not go into reverse very easily. i again took it to a transmission shop and they told me the transmission oil was as black as motor oil. they said the transmission needed to be replaced. i then took it to the dealer and, same story, they said it needed to be replaced but it is out of warranty by three months. they again said there was something wrong with the transmission but they could not determine what it was. even though i made the complaint almost two years ago, they told me it was not covered by the powertrain warranty as the vehicle is now out of warranty. there is quite a litany of complaints on the internet about transmission failures from nissan products. i am obviously quite upset and dissatisfied. i will never buy another nissan product. *tr

The transmission slips at various speed levels. the dealership inspected and determined that the transmission cooler failed and damaged transmission through cross contamination. the vehicle manufacturer knows that this problem exists but the warranty is only extended to 80000 miles but the problems in most cases show up after 80000 miles.

I started having a sudden jerking in my 2007 nissan pathfinder when driving down the highway. when i took it into a nissan dealer they diagnosed the problem as a failure with the radiator internally and externally which allowed leaking coolant into my transmission fluid causing both radiator and transmission failure. the dealer now states that i need to replace both items or trade it in. .... come on nissan you have a major problem. we need a recall....... *tr

Nissan has extended the warranty on this issue (transmission and radiator} and when i contacted them they said it had to be checked by a nissan dealer. i had to have it towed 250 miles away to the nearest dealership at my own expense, wait 2 and a half weeks for them to tell me because i bought it used (not new} they decided that they can not cover it under the warranty. so a used vehicle has no warranty? now i have to pay the dealership and have it towed back at my expense another $375, this is wrong on all levels and should be covered they should not be allowed to take advantage of people like this. there has been so many complaints about these vehicle's losing power in traffic, on the highways and how they barely avoided getting into major accident's. i know that the new york times has done up an article about this and i think if we can bail out the auto industry even though nissan did not take a bail out we should make them accountable for their defects or do we have to wait till someone dies because of these defects before someone makes them accountable. i paid a lot of money for this pathfinder, first gm burned me very badly and now nissan. please please.... someone needs to do something about this. pleading for your help thank you *tr

My wife was driving my 8th grade son and his basketball team to middle school game. she was on the freeway going 65 mph, when she felt the car jerk and then start to lose speed, the engine was still running but the car had slipped out of gear. she had no power and luckily she had room to coast to the shoulder. we took the car to the dealer the next day they diagnosed the problem as transmission failure due to radiator fluid in the transmission. we replaced the radiator and coolant lines and flushed the transmission, and it ran fine for a few months. but the check engine light came back on last month, we took it in and now they tell us that we have to replace the transmission. please investigate this issue with the nissan pathfinder, frontier and xterra. it seems to be more and more of a common issue with nissan owners and nissan is not doing anything to repair this very serious and costly problem. i just got an estimate on tuesday (9/4/12) for $9459.00 worth of repairs to the transmission and the radiator. i bought the car new from nissan, and it now has 110,502 miles. *tr

My pathfinder was should have been slowing from the speed of 40mph as i was braking and letting off the gas, but it kept moving forward and shaking. if there was a car in front of me i would have hit them hard. my transmission would not shift down to slow down, due to radiator leaking into transmission. the cost of my repair of both radiator and transmission is over $5000.

My wife was driving my 8th grade son and his basketball team to middle school game. she was on the freeway going 65 mph, when she felt the car jerk and then start to lose speed, the engine was still running but the car had slipped out of gear. she had no power and luckily she had room to coast to the shoulder. we took the car to the dealer the next day they diagnosed the problem as transmission failure due to radiator fluid in the transmission. we replaced the the radiator and coolant lines and flushed the transmission, and it ran fine for a few months. but the check engine light came back on last month, we took it in and now they tell us that we have to replace the transmission. please investigate this issue with the nissan pathfinder, frontier and xterra. it seems to be more and more of a common issue with nissan owners and nissan is not doing anything to repair this very serious and costly problem. i just got an estimate on tuesday (9/4/12) for $9459.00 worth of repairs to the transmission and the radiator. i bought the car new from nissan, and it now has 110,502 miles.

While driving my 2007 nissan pathfinder se, i encountered a hesitation of transmission functionality while making a left hand turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic. as i proceeded to accelerate through the left turn, the transmission seemed to slip and would not get out of first gear. subsequently, my service engine soon light came on. the next day, i took the vehicle to the local autoexpress to have the odb-ii code retrieved, i was informed that they could not read it as it was a dealer specific code. i left and went right to my local nissan dealer who informed me that a part of the radiator had broken and the car was now mixing antifreeze with transmission fluid. they informed me that both the radiator and transmission had to be replaced at a cost of $9200.00, the dealer suggested that i call nissan as i was just 2000 miles over the warranty. after countless calls to the call center in the phillipines and the regional office in ohio, i was basically told that there was nothing they could do for me, they stated that because there were no records of maintenance being done at the selling dealership, i was out of luck. we purchased this vehicle brand new and it is a fully loaded model. the plan was to drive this to the 200k miles that nissan has been pitched to commonly achieve. instead, i have a car in the driveway that i cant drive, i still owe $4700 on it, and it will cost me $9l just to make it useful again. nissan should be ashamed of themselves. it will not be until someone dies that any recall action will happen. nissan has chased away a life-long loyal customer. *tr

Wife first noticed a vibration on her way home from school with our daughters. became progressively worse over time. i had tires, bearings, etc checked. no problems found with any of those. looked online and discovered that a lot of pathfinder owners were having transmission problems. checked coolant and found that it had in fact mixed with transmission fluid. i switched the lines from the transmission to trans cooler and radiator to prevent further contamination, and flushed radiator/replaced coolant. also had transmission flushed/fluid changed. the vibration is still present, as i don't have $5000 + for a new transmission/radiator. *tr

I was on busy 495 highway in maryland with my family, all of a sudden my 2007 nissan pathfinder stopped accelerating, and there was a big truck behind me on high speed, my wife and kids started shouting when they saw the big truck almost ran us over. i had towed the nissan pathfinder to the dealer, only to be told that it's a transmission problem and might cost me more than $6,000 to fix. i got this vehicle brand new from nissan in 2007, and only have about 75,000 miles on it. a used car that i bought with 105,000 miles on it, and topped it with another 65,000 miles, making it 170,000 miles is still running good! someone out there needs to shout out that nissan needs to recall their vehicles with transmission issues before they waste people's lives via accidents. *tr

Started noticing in march 2007 a noise like running over a rumble strip for brief periods that we thought were either our new tires or road surfaces. later we noticed it started getting longer and it seemed liked it had a hard time shifting gears. we took it to our nissan dealer who informed us that there was a leakage between the cooling system and the transmission which in time will cause the transmission to fail. we also found out they were aware of this problem, but we were never notified. now they told us even with and extended warranty to 80k we were past that at 81k. i feel they should be forced back to up their known defects and issue a recall. *tr

This vehicle has approx 80k miles when heat stopped working and transmission started shifting hard. i was informed by my mechanic that coolant had mixed with the transmission fluid and that it was a known problem at nissan. we replaced the radiator and fluids. a few months later the transmission is inoperable and nissan has refused to acknowledge the issue. my mechanic at midas of richmond va informed me that he sees this problem all the time and that nissan is doing nothing. clearly, nissan knew this was a problem and has refused to take any action due to the high cost of the repair. this is clearly a safety issue as well as a known defect issue. i cannot believe the manufacturer would be allowed to install a major vehicle component with a known defect and for the customer to have no recourse.

While driving with the ac on, my vehicle started to blast out hot air through the vents and overheat. my car has never ran hot before, i haven't had any problems since i've had it. i was able to pull over safely and let the car cool down. my husband removed the radiator cap and noticed a milky liquid in the radiator. we had to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic shop and they notified us of the recall on the nissan (2005-2010 models) radiators. they said that it was a common problem that they have been seeing where the coolant mixes with the transmission fluids and cause a major repair problem. we have been told that the radiator, transmission, transmission kit, throttle, vial body, and torque converter will have to be replaced. i feel petrified to know that nissan knew about this existing problem but refused to have these issues repaired rather than taking the easy way out and extending the warranty. we bought our truck brand new from the nissan dealership and we also paid for the 5yr/100,000 mile warranty. i have had my truck for 5 yrs and 2 mths, something should have been done about this. we the consumers have trusted this brand for many years and we depend on our vehicles on a daily bases. my family and i were all in the vehicle when the incident happened we could have been seriously harmed in a high risk situation. we had the 90,000 mileage maintenance completed where they flushed the radiator, changed the transmission, & etc. and everything was fine. my husband have always taken my car in for timely maintenance and no one has ever mentioned the radiator issues. *tr

At first started noticing hesitation in transmission at 40 mph, confirmed by 2 mechanics trans fluid is milky color and changed fluid at a local service station that had to go to nissan and get their transmission fluid to finish job. now back to milky transmission fluid, have to take overdrive off because gears will not shift, i also carry gallon of water because at any time radiator fluid levels can be low; have to turn air off at long stop lights so temp gauge doesn't go up. *tr

I drove 2hrs away to pick up my neice from college. the vehicle was fine on the freeway, but as soon as we exited, it started to spudder. we were very close to campus so we pulled in and made it through a couple more stop signs before we pulled into a stall and parked. it would not start after that. i had to tow it back home and to the dealer ship where i was told that a problem in the radiator caused fluids to mix which shot my engine. now nissan wants to charge me $7650 for a radiator and transmission. that's ridicules considering nissan knew these vehicle had faulty radiators in them. this could have been very dangerous if this occured on the freeway!

The faulty seal that separates the anti-freeze and transmission fluid mixed and resulted in the transmission failing. this catosphic failure that the manufacturer is admitting to but only giving partial remedy as it may not happen before 80,000 miles. i find myself along with many other customers who are footing the bill for the 8600 dollar repair in tough economic times. when buying a new vehicle it should last long enough to finish paying the car note without any major expenses. this issue needs to be addressed immediately as a recall so the consumer can be reimbursed for terrible engineering that any mechanic will tell you. even the nissan dealers know is is a problem but will not take ownership. is there any assistansce as a consumer?

I was pulling out of my garage when my check engine light came on, i took my care to a garage where they diagnosed it as a transmission problem. i took it to a transmission shop where they have found that my transmission fluid is leaking into my radiator and vice versa. they mechanic said he has seen quite a few of these, when i called nissan to find out more i was told that there was no recall even though there are many of these pathfinders with the same issue. it is the failure of a 400 dollar part that nissan sent no notice to anyone for. i was told i was out of luck. i have owned 5 nissans and because of this absolute disregard for customers will not buy another one.

I was driving home from work when i noticed my 2007 pathfinder was not shifting properly, then my check engine light came on. i then took it to an auto parts store to see what code was causing the check engine light to come on, i was told it was the transmission speed sensor. the next day i took my car to a transmission repair shop where i was told it was not the speed sensor, but the radiator had leaked coolant into the transmission. i was then told this was very common in the pathfinder and nissan would not help with repair cost. i contacted the local dealership where i usually get my car serviced and was told that nissan knew about this issue and would not help with repair costs unless i brought my car to them for diagnostic testing. i did they told me what i already knew and that it would cost $7500 to repair minus the $105 i spent for the diagnostic test. my car is not paid for and i can't afford to get it repaired. nissan should be held responsible for their poor handling of this defect. it should not take someone being seriously injured or killed before they take action. since finding out this problem i have been researching and have found i am not alone in this fight against nissan.

My nissan pathfinder started overheating. we had the thermostat changed. nissan still overheated so i took it to the shop and a faulty mechanical issue with the nissan caused the transmission to get antifreeze in it and the radiator to get transmission fluid in it. nissan extended their warranty to 80,000 miles because of all the customers having trouble with this, but mine was over. also the gas gauge is faulty and when you fill the gas tank up the digital readout will not work and the gas gauge goes to empty. i've ran out of gas twice because of this faulty gauge.

My vehicle started to stall as if it was going to cut off, i pulled to the side of the road and waited a few minutes then it started right up as if no issue. later that day when my husband was driving the vehicle started to shift really hard and stall. i took it to the dealership and the dealer diagnosed the transmission problem as fluid cooler located in the radiator assembly that allowed coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid. i was really afraid of being rear ended as the vehicle stalled as it shifted to the next gear, prior to this there had been absolutely no warning that there was an issue of this magnitude.

Car would not engage in reverse. the problem was diagonosed as my transmission failing due to design flaw that allowed radiator cooling fluid to leak into the transmission. i had to replace the transmission at a cost or $3,400. the car warrenty had run out and i was not reimbursed by nissan. nissan has not recognized that they have a design flaw issue that is costing their car owners thousands of dollars in repairs as well as ruinning their reputation.

I have a 2007 nissan pathfinder, nissan sent me an extended warranty on the radiator to 82000 miles, stating that it will crack and leak into the transmission causing damage. my pathfinder's radiator failed at 109000 miles and nissan told me that i will be responsible for repairs because it was past the extended warranty. so the radiator cost me about $600 and the transmission failed and cost me $2500. i complained to nissan and they don't care, i have seen online that this is a major problem with nissan but they will not recall the radiator, they have horrible service

Haven't finished paying off my car and already the transmission of my nissan pathfinder 2007 is failing. the radiator spilled the cooling liquid into the transmission, which then proceeded to cause serious problems to the transmission. the guaranty expired after 100 000 miles, even though prior to that the mileage the guaranty still applied. now, in order to fix the transmission, or replace it for a new one, will cost me over $5000usd. i'd like to unite to the existing complaints/lawsuit against nissan on the matter of the faults found in the 2007 nissan pathfinder, as i feel that is unfair that the company with the knowledge of fault in its product has not warned the public and has proceeded to sell the product to the public, leaving us with a faulty machine that in the end is more expensive, and not a satisfactory product. i am hopeful that the company will response to all of our complaints, stepping forward and taking responsibility for the inconvenience they have caused, and hopefully taking ownership of the expenses that due to their lack of responsibility, have been incurred on to us, the consumers

If you are not already aware, there have been many problems concerning this vehicle, which are almost all similar to each other. personally i have been experiencing transmission problems which range from: rough engine vibration at 40mph, and 60mph, thermometer spikes when accelerator is engaged at 2500+ rpm, violent jerking of car, loud engine fan, and most importantly loss of forward acceleration when actively pressing on gas pedal. i brought this to a nissan dealer to have this diagnosed and they have confirmed that my initial worries were correct. a defect during manufacturing of this vehicle has caused radiator coolant to leak into the transmission or vice-versa causing the deterioration of both systems. this in turn correlates to engine overheating and many other problems while driving this vehicle also the housing of the timing chain is non-existent. the vehicle diagnosis and price quote for repairs nears the $10,000 mark.a price which is almost half of what i purchased the vehicle for. as of yesterday 3/17/12 my vehicle has lost acceleration power.

As i was driving my 2007 nissan pathfinder (120,000 ,miles) through a busy intersection, i lost the ability to accelerate at all. after a very frightening couple of minutes i was able to steer the vehicle through and coast down a small incline to a nearby parking lot. after threedays our local mechanic determined that he was unable to fix the car, as he concluded that the ecm had failed. the vehicle was towed to the local nissan dealership, who agreed that the problem was the ecm ($1014 repair). after three more days, theyve now told us that the problem is not the ecm, but the fact that the radiator fluid has leaked into the transmission, destroying it. they are quoting a repair cost of $7500. i have been without a vehicle for over a week (renting a car became cost prohibitive), and now will spend the morning trying to find a more cost effective way to have the vehicle repaired. i've learned that this is a common issue of which nissan is completely aware. the coolant leak/transmission failure is in fact a design defect in the vehicle. it is completely unacceptable that nissan has not recalled these vehicles, or at the very least made the repair free for consumers regardless of vehicle mileage. i will never purchase another nissan after this experience.

Radiator leaking into the transmission causing transmission damage, requiring a new radiator and transmission. nissan knows this is an issue and has not notified customers to fix this prior to the part failing to prevent major damage. they extended the warranty to 85k miles for that part, but it needs to fail for them to cover the repair. i could have replaced the part for arounf $400 preventing the damage to the transmission, if nissan would have told its customers. now i have had to replace the transmission for $4000 and rent a car for one month at $800. the damage occcured when i was driving. fortunately i was not on a busy highway when the transmission failed. it took so long to fix the transmission because parts are on back order to repair the transmission.
