Defect Summary | Nissan is recalling certain vehicles that were equipped with a garmin nuvi model 750 navigation system. the batteries contained in the affected gps units can overheat. | |||||||||||||||
Consequence Summary | Overheated batteries could result in a fire. | |||||||||||||||
Corrective Summary | Nissan will notify owners and the repairs will be performed by garmin technicians by replacing the battery and inserting a spacer on top of the battery free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin during september 2010. owners may contact garmin directly at 1-866-957-1981 or nissan at 1-800-647-7261. | |||||||||||||||

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that noise was heard from the air conditioner as the vehicle was started. the air conditioner then activated independently. the contact had to reset the vehicle in order for the air conditioner to turn off. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the dealer stated that the air conditioner switch would need replacing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage was 18,000. |
