Defect Summary | Vehicle description: mini vans. these vehicles were produced with power windows that can be closed after the ignition key is turned to the off position and the right front (passenger) door is opened. this does not meet the requirements of fmvss 118, power-operated window systems.
Consequence Summary | There is the potential for unsupervised children to operate the power windows, increasing the risk of personal injury to the child.

Weird electrical problems,i have taken to 2 different people, 1 of which specializes in transmissions, the problem is that when the vehicle is warmed up the transmission doesn't know what gear it is in, on initial investigation the problem appears to be the trottle position sensor but that was replaced and still no fix. they hooked up computers to the car while driving and say the computer doesn't read the tps being operative during driving but no problems can be found with the wiring and computer board. when the engine transmission starts to mess up the locks start to lock and unlock by themselves while driving, the check engine light is on and the overdrive light blinks off and on. at one time the air bag light come on for no reason it was checked and problem found. the sliding door latch broke within a couple of months of buying. the back windshield wiper motor would also come on by itself, we ended up taking the fuse out for that.

We have problems with the doors locking and unlocking for no reason while driving. windows on driver and passenger side where lowered while driving; then when raised on the drivers side it would move. with engine turned off tried to raise window, no success. found recall 98v-012.002 turned engine on, then off, opened only passenger door and then window would go up. *la

At any speed even stopped the locks lock and unlock without even touching the button. the van can be sitting still, the keys out, and no one near the car and you can hear the locks locking and unlocking. my children have been locked in and we have had to break a window to get them out. i could not unlock with the keys or the remote. it would not let me. also the sliding door pops open at various speeds and conditions even on level surfaces with no bumps. this causes the interior lights to come on and the door ajar light to come on. it happens even if the doors are locked.*ak
