I have had multiple issues with the electrical system in this van. various lights will come on when i turn on the operating lights at night, but some will randomly not work. for example, the lights on the heater will sometimes come on if i push buttons up and down the panel, or turn the fan off and on. sometimes i can get the lights on the am/fm cassette to come on if i push various buttons for the radio stations. the lights on the dashboard have gone out completely by degrees. i currently have a dark dashboard. these problems started happening the day i bought this vehicle used, and i took it back to somersworth nissan (in somersworth, new hampshire) where i bought it. but first they said they could not get the problem to happen, so i took it back exactly when it was happening once, and that time they said they could not fix the problems, that it must be electrical and would cost me a lot of money to figure out what is wrong and fix it. this dealership also forced me to purchasing a one year warranty on the vehicle, and when i tried to cancel the warranty within the time the contract allowed, they refused to allow me to cancel it, and said, so sue us!. they knew i was a single mom, who was trying to find a car that would accommodate my six children, and they knew i could not afford to take them to court. since purchasing this car three years ago from somersworth nissan in somersworth, new hampshire, i have been made aware of many illegal and dirty business dealings with others.*ak

Manufacturer refused to investigate why the consumer's vehicle stalled. *ph the vehicle would stall without cause. the mechanics could not find the problem. the consumer request to be reimbursed for the repair costs, economic losses, and loss of transportation. other problem are as followed: the engine would come on along with the vehicle dying out, output shaft leak, brake leakage, a/c did not blow cold, power antenna made noises when in use, the sunroof leaked water, right rear wheel leaked fluid, and there was leak coming form the left axle area. the service dealer found the positioning cable was not making connection and the fuse links did not make a connection, the a/c remained blowing cold after 2 hoses had been replaced. the a/c compressor was coming apart internally causing metal to release throughout the system. *sc

On 6/30/01, when i started the car in my house garage and heard a deafening explosion with a big smoke that like a bomb exploded. my daughter and i was shocked unconsciously for seconds. after checking and found that explosion caused by battery which i replaced in sept. 1999 with wondries nissan. at that time i was told it had 4 years warranty. on 7/2/01 8:00 a.m., i call nissan (800-647-7261) and talked to ms. mendozn. she asked me to tow my van to the nearest dealor gunderson nissan. after checking, i was told the alternator is over charged and caused the battery explosion. for this kind of problem, nissan won't take any responsibility for this incident, and i should pay for replacing these two defective parts. i am very angry about this kind of answer. i think nissan should take responsibility for this incident for following reasons: 1. i just got 60,000 miles maintenance service with wondries nissan in this february and they should find something wrong. 2. this is unnormal and very dangerous incident. it will cause a car accident if this happened on the freeway or cause a fire, because the parts problems. 3. the car designer should predict this kind of problem and design the safety measure. i hope you can investigate this incident.*ak

I just wanted to state that i have identified with most of the failure problems that are listed on the complaint page. the right rear seat belt has failed, it will not pullout or retract, and no one cause this problem, it is a malfunction of the saet belt. there is a significant fuel odor in the van from time to time, no particular time noted. the sliding door does not lock and unlock properly, and it will lock by itself and stick, also it will not stay in the open position consistantly.my brake pads are going out, it may just be normal wear and tear, but they seemed to go out all of a sudden. in general it makes all kinds of whistling, grinding and bumping noises when driving.*ak

While the vehicle was parked the consumer heard the vehicles horn blowing and went to see what the problem was. upon reaching the vehicle the consumer saw smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle. the insurance investigator indicated that the wire within the engine loom shorted and melted other wires in the loom, which caused the smoke. on a separate occasion the 10 amp fuse blew causing the vehicles dash indicators (speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge) to stop working. the vehicle has been plagued with multiple electrical failures *ts *nlm
