Nissan quest 1999. gas pedal is blocking and requires revere strength to be pushed. this happens several times during the day. once the pedal is pushed hard the vehicle suddenly thrusts, causing possible damage to the engine and transmission. this also causes the vehicle to suddenly gain much speed and requires extra control by the driver. i am seeing many complaints on this website regarding the same issue (referd to as 'gas pedal sticking').

In may 1999, nissan corp sold me defective nissan quest. every 2-3 years this vehicle develops excessive carbonous deposits in the part of the engine called the throttle-body assembly. these deposits cause the accelerator pedal to require increased effort to push the pedal accelerator down (sticky pedal). being the only owner of this vehicle, i already had to clean the throttle-body 3 times. this defect was recognized and settled by nissan corp in class action in 2003, please see the copy of the first page of settlement letter enclosed. my dealership, rothrock, in allentown pa cleaned the throttle for the last, 3rd time in december 2003 at no charge, please see the copy of invoice enclosed. the throttle needs to be cleaned again. my latest discussion with nissan rep, erica, 1-800-647-7261 ext 57741, file n 5812745 was on 8/10/07. nissan refuses to clean at nissan's expense explaining that a diagnosis must be performed first for $70.00 per hour. i consider this nissan?s offer as a deceptive way to avoid the responsibility to fix the nissan's defect at no charge to me. *tr

1999 nissan quest se - i changed the spark plugs after hearing a tapping/clacking coming from the engine & having the van hesitate at times. the oem platinum plugs are rated for 100k miles & the van has 82k miles. i had difficulty removing one of the plugs. after the plug jammed i looked in the tube where you insert the plug looking for anything blocking the plug extraction. after i removed the plug the threads showed no signs of stripping. i looked in the tube again & still could not see anything. the area of the plug below the nut part & above the threads looked mangled. after inserting the new plugs i tested the engine & heard a much louder noise. i towed it to the dealership to make any repairs under my extended service plan (esp). the service writer called & i approved a $200 tear down fee that would apply to any repairs needed or covered under the esp. later they told me they would not do the repairs under the esp as a foreign object damaged the piston/cylinder. they could not identify the object but said that since nissan did not make the repairs the esp would not cover it. i spent 3 days fighting with nissan's consumer relations dept & an executive asst. this lady said nissan would not cover the repair. the general manager at the dealership agreed that had his tech changed the plugs he would have just as likely as not had the same problems with the same results. now since i exercised my rights & appealed to the corporate offices of nissan the dealership will not complete any repairs. they want me to tow my vehicle elsewhere at my expense & still pay them the $200 tear down fee that was to be applied towards the repair. also my disassembled engine lies on the garage floor at the dealership. i have more info & welcome any contact or suggestions at wmdrummond@aol.com. there is more information at www.notagz.com/nissan including call logs with both nissan & the dealership. there are also pictures of the disassembled engine & the damage at www.notagz.com/engine. *nlm
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - EXHAUST SYSTEM - EMISSION CONTROL
09/01/2099
This is the fourth time in 3 years that the same warning light has come on and at least the second time i've been told i have spider webs in my cannister. ( i drive my car daily---don't see that happening). the computer codes, this time around, are: p1446 and p0325. diagnosis: needs vent control valve and cannister found spider webs in cannister and might need new one in future. i've no idea what any of this means, but the same warning light with an easy fix (they said they wiped out the webs) indicates that somethins is wrong with the system.
