In december of 2006 we purchased a 2004 nissan quest se. the first year was not entirely trouble free, the drivers seat would self adjust while driving. the dealer fixed it no charge. the in december of 07 the trans went out, again the dealer covered it at no charge, gave us a loaner and were done within a week. except for the inconvenience of not having our van we were fine until now!!! in june of 08 we were going for a sunday drive and the van just died in the middle of the street. nothing would work nothing, no power anywhere. we called road side and all they could do was tow us to al piemonte nissan in melrose park, il. the following monday, the dealer calls and tells us the ecu is burnt out, and has some corrosion. it's covered under warranty so no need to far right!!! a week later we finally get a loaner, ok not too bad. two months go by and we finally have word that we have a date when the part will arrive!!!!! the part gets installed but the van runs like crap omg you mean they actually tested it!!!! they now are replacing a cracked distributor, god only knows how that happened!!!! the dealr does not charge us for that, but the van still runs like crap so now they have to replace three of the 6 coils and well we had to pay over $800 bucks for that. totally not expecting that we had to charge it, putting us in the hole even deeper. you know we haven't spent alot of $ on this car but for a 4 year old car it sure has had alot of major components replaced. the the freaking dealer doesn't test the car, so we leave and the remotes, doors, sunroof, windows don't work. the center counsil is falling apart and they didn't even clean the

Dt*: the contact stated there are multiple problems associated with the vehicle. first being, the brakes made a noise when applied. second, while attempting to accelerate, the transmission remained in third gear. this would not allow the vehicle to accelerate properly, at any speed. thirdly, the sliding door on the passenger's side opened while driving. the contact was able to close the door, although it took much force to do so. lastly, the driver and passenger side vents had hot air flowing through them. the temperature gauges were adjusted; however the hot air still flowed. as a result, the air conditioner was turned on in order to maintain a comfortable temperature. the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for inspection and solutions to these problems; however the problems could not be duplicated.

This vehicle has had a problem since the first day i took delivery of it. it seems to be a problem with the ac/heating system. on days when it is above 65 degrees hot air continuously blows throughout the center vents. i have addressed this issue with the dealer and they stated that there is no fix for this problem. they don't know what is causing this to happen. *jb

2004 nissan quest. consumer states safety problem with the power windows and power doors *tgw the consumer stated the passenger side window would not stay closed. when the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, he was informed to fix the problem it would require replacing the motor, which would be very expensive. the consumer declined the repair. later on, the window reverted back to its proper closing procedure and operated as it was designed. however, the driver's window would not close automatically and the consumer was forced to hold down the button manually. the door on the passenger side would not close completely. it would stop about half way. the consumer had to physically push the door closed which lasted for weeks. then, suddenly the door began closing correctly without any attempt at repair. the sliding door on the driver's side didn't function as it should. it all started when the consumer's grandson was exiting the vehicle by pushing the open button from the inside. as he was getting out, the door reversed itself before it opened completely and began closing, hitting him and wouldn't stop as it was supposed to when meeting an object. fortunately, he was only frightened, but not injured. the door continued to malfunction, so the consumer no longer used it anymore. the consumer referenced recall # 04v186000. however, his vin was not included in the recall. *jb

My nissan quest has been plagued with electrical problems from day one. the windows go down completely on their own with vehicle turned off. the passenger sliding door opens randomly on its own. the tire alarm goes off when tire pressure is fine. air vents fly off and lights fall out of the ceiling. most troubling is the automatic side sliding door. owner's manual stated on page 3-8 the door will reverse direction immediately during power open or close, a warning chime will sound and the door will reverse direction and return to the full open or full close position. the door does not operate this way, the door will not stop when it encounters an object it will continue to push the object in its way. my husband and i have both been caught by the door. it has knocked small children to the ground. i have complained to nissan , and they insisted that this was the way the door were supposed to operate. the automatic close button is right at the level a small child would put his hand to enter the vehicle and could be easily activated. nissan says the door is designed to reverse within the last couple inches even though this is contradictory to its manual. please help before a child is seriously injured. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan quest. the contact stated that the vehicle's side electrical sliding door opens and closes automatically. the doors on the vehicle will also occasionally fail to open. the door will open so that a passenger may enter the vehicle, then the door will close before they are completely inside the vehicle. the vehicle has been taken to the dealer approximately six times and the dealer changed the sensors and readjusted the doors. the door continues to not work properly. the vehicle is part of recall # 04v186000 (latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch), but the failure persists. the current mileage is 70,000 and failure mileage was 42,000. the consumer stated battery weak, dealer replaced battery. the consumer stated slow leak in tires, the dealer replaced all four tires. the dealer stated there was a recall on 2nd row seat, dealer stated parts are on special order. the consumer provided a copy of vehicle repairs. the wiper blades were replaced. updated 07/10/07 *tr

It is in the shop right now for issues with handling, the liftgate arm coming out of the door, abs, slip, traction lights are on all the time, cruise control is inoperable, rear wiper assembly has broken for the second time, front washer fluid is not working. most notably are the issues with the liftgate and handling. we took the vehicle into the dealer several months ago for both issues. our liftgate would never open on the first try. they checked into it and kept the vehicle for several days. we were given a rental and told they would pay for it and in the end they charged our credit card for it. they had a tech from nissan fly out to look at it. they informed us that they were waiting on parts. we picked up the vehicle and never heard from them again. the other day i went out to open the door. it had pulled the molding loose and i could see metal shavings at the end of the strut. we have had it in with complaints about the handling before. we suspected that the rotors were to blame. every time we brought this up we were told that wasn't the case. we were told to replace the brakes to solve the issue. we then replaced all four tires. nothing has solved the problem. when driving on the highway the steering wheel shakes and the vehicle shudders when the brakes are applied. it has been doing this since approximately 15,000 miles. the ac blow hot if you sit for more than a few minutes with the engine running. if you rev the engine, it just blows hotter. you have to drive around for several minutes to get the ac to blow cold again. we are less than happy with nissan's customer service. we have called them several times and emailed and have had no resolution on any complaint. we have been told by them that a rep will call us and it has never happened. *jb
