Fuel gauge not registering properly. last few digits of odometer will disapper or not show up all the way

At around 83700 miles, the last three digits of the mileage became garbled, and now they don't show up at all. also, other indicators on the display are going out as well, such as the gas gauge. the possible safety considerations are obvious: being unable to determine when maintenance is due, running out of fuel on the highway, etc. *tr

At approximately 98000 miles the odometor/gas meter was unreadable. apparently it is common in nissan quests to have this part go out at or around 100,000 miles. possibly leaving the occupants stranded because of the lack of awareness in the amount of gas available. being that we were traveling across country to relocate this became very dangerous.

On july 11,2011 i was traveling in my 2006 nissan quest minivan with my two children from my home in harwich, ma to my parent's home in ashford, ct. at about 1pm on a dry road, while traveling at about 65mph on ma route 25, my quest just completely shut down, no gas pedal response, no power steering, no power brakes etc. ane the red check engine light went on. fortunately , the traffic was light and i was able to guide the quest to the side of the road, after a few minutes, i was able to re-start the quest and it then again ran normally. i scheduled an appointment for the july 12 with gates gmc nissan in windham, ct. the diagnosis of the problem (in their invoice c94977) was as follows: c/s check eng light was on, check and report vehicle shut off while driving. did re-start and ran fine cause po643 sensor power supply found app sensorfault, no repair at this time, needs gas peal assembly. gates did not have the electronic gas pedal which apparently caused this problem in stock and said it would take days to get one. i have been driving the quest since then without incident. clearly any major vehicle shut down at highway speeds as just occured is a safety problem. i was fortunate that i could pull the vehicle over. if not, i could have been struck from behind. etc. obviously, something is wrong as shown by the incident above. i would appreciate whatever can be done to warn nissan and also to fix my vehicle. i have approx. 56,000 miles on the vehicle.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 15 mph through an intersection, the engine stalled without warning, and would not restart. the vehicle was towed to a dealer who determined the cylinder head needed to be replaced. after the replacement, upon attempting to start the engine, it would not start. the contact charged the battery, and drove the vehicle to the dealer who determined there was a loose battery cable. afterwards, there was a rubbing noise coming from underneath the vehicle followed by an electrical odor. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to await further inspection. the manufacturer was alerted. the second time the incident happened, the consumer was told a bag had attached itself to the motor, but offered no reason as to why the vehicle was shutting off. every time the vehicle shuts off, there is an electrical smell. updated 12/1/06. *jb

I purchased a 2006 nissan quest on march 14, 2006 form nissan 112 in medford, n.y. and i have had nothing but a multitude of problems with this vehicle due to many defects. i have had to have the car serviced 5 times in the first month and a half of ownership and there are still many problems that have not and cannot be resolved. i was told by nys senator lavalle's office to contact you. vin # 5n1bv28u36n103305-the car smells like rotten eggs, transmission slips, buck and jerks causing delay of acceleration. does not always start on first key turn, rugs in hatch area stained from multiple leaks. new replaced computer mileage does not match odometer mileage therefore service screen is useless. dashboard chipped and not set correctly, can see inside. radio does not always display title/artist and letters become skewed/broken or stuck. ticking sound that comes from front pass. side dash. there is black glue all over exterior from re-sealing the rear window. *jb
