While attempting to stop the vehicle at an intersection the brakes failed. the brake light came on, it made a grinding noise and i had no brakes. i took the vehicle to my mechanic and after checking the computer for embedded codes he found two code failures (c1104 & c1179). i have googled these problems and it seems that many other nissan armada and titan owners have had the same problems. this is a serious problem and nissan needs to issue a recall before someone is killed. *tr

While replacing lifetime warrantied suspension which was not honored by nissan or tenneco, i found the rear pinion seal to be leaking severely, and rear axle seal leaking in wheel assembly. possible source of ticking noise from differential, which until then i thought were exhaust heat shields. this condition could cause catastrophic drivetrain failure while vehicle is in motion. the fluid leaking from axle seal can reduce effectiveness of braking components. other owners have described inadequate engineering & possible use of substandard differential materials & components along with axle vent assemblies which could create internal pressure conditions that could cause seals to fail. *tr

When driving down a residential road, the brake light illuminated for no apparent reason. then, when slowing to turn, brakes shuddered violently and did not feel as if they would succeed in stopping the vehicle. i slowed enough to turn, then proceeded slowly to make 2 more immediate turns before reaching my house. the brakes shuddered and were not 100% effective each time the pedal was pressed. fluid levels are normal, brake components look good. after turning truck off and back on, problem was not able to be replicated. however, after doing online research, this appears to be a known issue that the manufacturer has as yet refused to address, even though it could lead to collisions and fatalities. *tr

Brakes on my 004 nissan titan started failing a few months after i bought it took it to the dealer and got it repaired and a few months after it started to have exactly the same problem, shaking badly when you try to stop. took it back to the dealer got it fix and it starting to show the same problem again only a few weeks after i took it back the 2nd time.the thing that doesn't seem to be right to me is that at their garage repair scheduling is all about brakes . i would like to know if there's a problem with this kind of vehicle. thanks for your time

The front brakes on my 2004 nissan titan began shaking violently at 8100 miles in jan '05. i took it to the dealer where they only resurfaced the rotors and put on new pads. again in apr '05 it started shaking causing me to almost lose control of the vehicle. i took it to the dealer and they informed me that they were aware of the problem, but they would have to order the new brakes from nissan since the manufacturer was not allowing dealers to stock the parts. they had to order them by vin. nearly two weeks later my parts are not in and i am forced to put this unsafe vehicle on the road every day caryying my 22 month old twins. the dealer and nissan don't seem to be concerned like it's no big deal. does someone have to die before anything gets done with this?

I have taken my truck in twice now for the brakes and the carpet being soaking wet from the truck leaking somewhereand the passenger airbag light not turning off. they resurfaced my brakes and said the leak was from the a/c. they also told us about the brake problem with the 2004 titans and that they would put us on a waiting list for the replacement parts. we are now taking it in again for the same problems. the floor is soaking wet and we have not ran the a/c. the brakes are shaking violently again, and not to mention the new problem of the cargo light turning on by itself when it is parked. i only have about 8300 miles on my truck and i only drive 5 miles one way to work. these are major problems that are occuring in such short time of having the truck.

Just driving down the road the brake light comes on in the dash and the brake pedal goes to floor. you have very little brakes and it makes a grinding noise. if you turn off the vehicle it goes away. it has happened three times in the last year or so. im taking it to a nissan dealer next week and they say its going to cost me 100 dollars to reprogram the computer. i have read hundreds of reports of other people having the same problem. if its that big of a problem shouldn't there be a recall on this and nissan have to pay for it?

Brakes go into in abs mode for no reason, truck becomes hard to stop; road conditions were dry- 80 degrees and sunny. i was coming home from the nissan dealer because of a brake, slip, vdc light (anytime) and brake light - abs coming on (only during braking), both are intermittent. the friday before i had nissan look at this very condition(s) they agreed i had a problem, and upgraded the software. 2 days later the light still came on and stayed on. the only difference was after shutting down the truck and restarting, the lights would stay on, something that did not use to happen. . . nissan has a brake issue, i've seen many of complaints that are the same as mine- loss of braking because the abs kicks on (brake light comes on when this happens) and will not correct/stop it-self until the engine is shut down and restarted. restarting the truck when the abs is hampering the stopping ability is not very practical, and very dangerous in most driving conditions. when this happened to me i came very close to hitting the car in front and swerved to the edge of the road. since the 2nd visit to nissan i had the master cylinder with stability control option replaced, that was the dealership recommendation after they downloaded the codes(x2), they stated the part had to be ordered. cost for repair was quoted at $650.00. *tr

I have a 2004 nissan titan and nissan has had me and many others in on several different occassions to repair the front brakes. the front wheel would shake when you apply the brakes. just before the warranty ran out they said they had a fix. they were going to replace the rotors because the were to small for the truck. when i took it in for the repair, the third repair, the had come up with another fix they said and it would fix the problem. i did notice that the brake pedal felt funny. i don't know how to describe it, but it almost felt like it was applying more pressure to the rear brakes to relieve the pressure on the front end. anyway, since that time i have a company vehicle and i have only put 16k miles on the truck and the front end is shaking again when i apply the brakes. the more the speed and the harder you apply the brakes the more it shakes. also, i noticed that when the brakes were shaking the front end to shake, something in the front end pops, like when you top a hill. it has gone away every time they have attempted to fix the brakes, but when the shaking starts back so does the popping. i'm not to concerned about the popping, but i am concerned about the shaking. the last thing, two of the three times they attempted to repair the brakes, they have also turned the rotors. rotors can only be turn a couple of times and have to be replaced. i feel they cheaped out on the repair by patching the problem instead of repairing the problem. i wish you guys would look into it. whether it's me or someone else, somebody is going to be driving this truck 10 years from now. i do know if you're going 65 or 70 miles per hour and you hit the brakes, it will get your attention. i don't know how safe it will be if nissan is not made to really fix the problem. *tr

Brakes on 2004 nissan titan failed while stopping at traffic light. just prior to failure, brake light lit up on dashboard. nissan dealer informed me that the brakes themselves were fine but that the computer that controls the brakes lost its programming. i was also informed that i am the 3rd customer in 6 months to have this event occur to them. to fix the problem, the dealer must reprogram the vdc system. dealer was unable to tell me why this happened or assure me that the brake failure will not reoccur. i was told that this is a known issue and nissan has issued a service bulletin regarding this problem. this problem could have led to a catastropic accident had the brakes failed during a critical time. i am concerned that nissan has a known brake problem, but there is no safety recall in place. *tr

Leaving work at 5:00 pm. started truck and got to stop sign everything was fine. turned left onto major street and when approaching first stop light brake peddle went almost to floor. it felt really spongy and made a grinding noise. had to run up on curb to avoid going into intersection. car did come to a stop and i noticed brake light was on. i turned truck off and started again. brakes were back. did a search for this description of failure and found several threads with tons of trucks having the same issue. it seems to be a bad delta sensor. nissan knows about this but does nothing. hopefully it doesn't take a serious accident for them to do something about it. just search for nissan titan delta sensor and you will see all the vehicles with problems. i was referred to this site by nissan. they said they couldn't do anything until they were told to by nhtsa.

Brakes feel like the abs has engaged and the following warning light on the dash come on; brake, vdc off, slip, and service engine. this started happening soon after i purchased the truck new. dealer ran diagnostics but couldn't find anything. this problem has happened well over 20 times while backing out of my driveway and driving at high and low speeds. once this happens the brakes feel mushy and make a loud grinding noise. the only fix is to stop the truck, put it in park and stop and restart the engine. this is dangerous when it happens on the freeway. the occurrence of this problem is very intermittent. last occurrence was on july 25th and before that july 18th. it may go a month or so before happening again. two other employees at my company also have 2004 titans and have the same problem. my local nissan dealer suggest that the next time it happens to bring it to them so that their mechanic can see the issue first hand.

I drove about 20 feet when i heard a loud noise and realized i had fogot the parking brake on. i took it off and drove away. the next day i heard more noise and one of my rear brakes seemed to be dragging. i decided to take it to the dealer. on the highway, all hell broke loose with crazy noise and grinding, then it went away. this happened several times on the way to dealer. with my 4 year old daughter in the back seat i limped the car into the dealer with no emergency brakes working. thankfully we were all okay and i did not loose control of the vehicle. the dealer said it would be at least $1,700 to fix it as the whole rear axle needed to be replaced due to the seals blowing out and leaking out all over the pads. i have not had any problem with this vehicle except for brakes, brakes and more brake issues. i think the e brake being on may have caused the seal to blow out then the axle and brakes just melted. something is wrong with this vehicles brake design. if these seals are know to be bad by nissan they should at least recommend replacing them so owners can protect themselves and avoid accidents,

Pulling out of my apartment's parking lot when stopping at a stop sign by brake pedal went to the floor as if it had no pressure. as the pedal hit the floor a loud grinding sound came from the engine compartment. i put the truck in park, turned it off, started it back up and everything worked ok. went down the street a little more and bam happened again, this time in traffic. if an unexperienced driver has this issue this can and will cause damage to property or people.

The brakes on my 2004 nissan titan have been replaced 3 times in the last 1.5 years. nissan admits there is a problem, and provided an upgrade kit the consumers have to pay for. i have the upgrade kit the last 3 times the brakes were changed, and they still go bad. this morning without warning the caliper dove in the rotor, and i nearl went' thru an intersection. something needs to be done about these vehicle now. there are thoussands of complaints about the brakes on these trucks. when will the dot make nissan do something about this?

While driving my 2004 nissain titan crew cab pickup , i notice that my dash brake light comes on and stays on. i apply the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor. i then pull over and turn the truck off and then back on and noticed the light off and a strong break pedal again. i now notice that this problem is happening atleast 2 to 3 times a day. i have to turn off the truck and restart so i can have brakes again. i have not taken my truck to the shop nor replace any parts regarding this matter.

Upon start up parking brake light on dash illuminated and remained on, however the parking brake was not set. once the vehicle was in motion the brakes became ineffective. the pedal was soft and there was a pulsing sensation. if i had not been going less than 5mph i am unsure if i could have stopped, i was able to coast to a stop and place the vehicle in park. once the vehicle was turned off and restarted all lights and problems disappeared and brakes functioned ok. i took the vehicle to the local dealer and they located a problem with the brake booster and/or master cylinder. *tr

I have a 2004 nissan titan king cab. i have on a number of occasions had major brake related issues. you are probably well aware that the titan had some initial problems with their brakes in the early models that were solved. however, the dealer has failed to solve more serious problems i and many others have had. in random situations, applying the brakes lightly and normally, the brakes basically fail to operate normally and when the pedal is depressed it offers none of the normal resistance and instead easily goes straight to the floor, emmediately this locks the brakes and causes the truck to come to a rapid and immediate lurching and sliding stop. so far, most times, i have be able to feel a subtle change in the pedal in time to change how i apply the brakes, but a few times i have been slammed against the seat belt and nearly hit my face on the steering wheel. often the problem is immeduately preceded by a small sound that sounds like a spring coming undone.( i know this may sound a bit rediculous, but it sounds like the sound a spring would make in a cartoon...boing). every time this happens the breaks will remain in the same state, mushy and causing an immediate lock up until i stop and turn the engine off and back on again. the brake light comes on when this happens and goes off after turning off the ignition. everything will be normal after restarting and the problem often won't reseurface for weeks or months. it happens to me about every 45-60 days and i can not reproduce it. when this first happend i took it to my dealer and they said they fixed it, but they did not. i found numerous reports of this problem online so this is real and not an isolated case. here are a few sites were drivers/owners are reporting the same problem : http://forums.fightback.com/showthread.php?p=28582 http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/59241-sudden-total-brake-failure. http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/titan/4289-2004-titan-brake-light-brakes-surging.ht. *tr

The most recent occurrence occurred yesterday 11/1/09 as i pulled out of a parking lot and put on my brakes and the brakes began to shudder and a spring like noise occurred. in addition the brakes were soft and scraping sound occurred when applied. this occurred each time i applied the brakes for the next 4miles until i arrived home. the brake light remained on the entire time until i arrived home. i called the dealer and made an appointment for today, monday. late saturday, i had to move my vehicle at home and noticed the brake light was off and the brakes worked normally without any sound or softness.the same thing happened about two years ago. at that time i drove the vehicle to the dealer and left the vehicle with the dealer overnight because it was late in the day near closing.. the next day the dealer said they took the vehicle for a test drive and it reacted normally and it probably was some dirt/dust in and around the brakes causing the brakes to stick'.. there was no work done on the vehicle. today, the same dealer looked at my vehicle and ran some tests after i insisted this is the second time the same thing has occurred. this time the dealer found a defective/worn delta speed sensor and recommended to replace the brake booster. they said it is not covered under warranty as the warranty expired 1/1/09.

My 2004 nissan titan has been having periodic complete brake failure without warning during normal driving conditions. this has occurred 7-8 times. started about 25,000 mi, currently at 34,000 mi. took to dealer on 8-1-09, dealer reprogrammed the computer, said it had something to do with the abs and vdc controls and that this would fix it, yesterday on 8-22-09 it happened again after normal driving as i was exiting the freeway, very scary. when the problem occurs, if you shut off the vehicle and restart, the brakes are back and seem to be working fine, they can go for a while with no problem, then one day they will just not be there, pumping the brake gives little brake effect and a noise emits from under the hood, a strange sound i have never heard come from a vehicle before, brakes will go to floor and will not stop if held, have to pump like crazy and resort to emergency stopping methods such as e-brake, downshift and rubbing tires against curb or driving into soft sand to stop vehicle. i went online and found this is happening to many other people with titans and armadas (same exact vehicle mechanically). this is very dangerous, i am used to old cars that have problems, this really catches you off guard. i wish to file a complaint as this vehicle is not safe for road. *tr

2004 nissan titan crewcab sle -2 wheel drive. first time this has happened to me, coming to a stop sign i put on the brakes and all of a sudden i had no control of my brakes. heard loud noises like the abs was kicking in and out as i applied the brakes harder to get the truck to stop. this continued until i got the truck home. after further research on the internet with nissan titan web forums i found that other people have with titan's have experienced the same problems. from what i gather it sounds like it is the brake booster at fault. also i found out that once you turn off the ignition the system resets itself and everything seems to be back to normal. i think nissan needs to look into the brake booster problems that people are having and rectify the problem. nissan wants $850 or more to replace the brake booster (truck out of warranty). nissan needs to come clean and realize they have a problem with their titan's brake booster. *tr

Problem started gradually as occasional noises, such as clunking and rattling, from the wheels while driving. took vehicle in to dealer who could not find the problem. one day later while driving, heard awful grating noise from wheels and abs/vdc light came on. took vehicle to dealer who stated that the emergency brake pad broke loose and destroyed the rotor, the abs sensor, etc. ($1,200 in damage). during the two weeks after service, the brake light has illuminated about 3 or 4 times. when the light is on, the brakes react as if in abs mode and grip and grind while stopping. turning off the vehicle usually makes the light go off and the brakes then operate normally. the vehicle is currently back at the dealer, who stated they do not know what is wrong as they have not been able to re-create the problem. *tr

My girlfriend owns a 2004 nissan titan. about a year ago the braking system started failing, so i purchased new brakes and no change. the problem continued until i talked to a mechanic and he told me to try the master cylinder. purchased a new one, no change. nissan claims there is no problems but when we press the brake pedal it doesn't want to stop. we can pump them a couple of times then it'll start to stop. nissan won't even take a look at it and the only reply we get from them is it needs new brakes, or the brake pads are on backwards. we where browsing on the internet and say an article where there was a lemon law and the braking system but nissan still claims there is no problems with them. *tr

My 2004 nissan titan recently started leaking gear oil from both axles in the rear. concurrently my brake pads starting absorbing the oil which in turn ruined my rotors, brake pads, and now is costing me a pretty penny to get it fixed. my mechanic said the local auto parts stores do not carry these bearings and seals and therefore must contact the original dealer to order them. after reading and following up on the additional complaints by many other titan owners, i am curious to find out what steps in nissan taking to recall these bad seals and bearings? why should us the owners have to fix costly repairs when nissan knows their production efforts were not properly tested before fielding the dealerships? please inform me how to get it fixed free of cost to me. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan titan. the contact has experienced several failures with the vehicle since the date it was purchased. while driving various speeds and applying pressure to the brakes, the vehicle vibrated and the braking power was lost. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the rotors failed. the vehicle was repaired. the entire braking system (rotors and brake pads) have been replaced three times since the original failure date. when adults use the rear seat safety belts, they become tighter as the vehicle is being operated. the seat belts cause a great amount of pressure to the neck and chest area and have to be released and reconnected for safety. the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 8,000 and current mileage was 38,000.

I bought a nissan titan new in may of 2004. problems with the brakes were immediate. the dealer has replaced the brakes, rotors, etc. a couple of times due to defects. they now say that the brakes are out of warranty so i am doing it on my own and often. this past weekend i almost hit another car because i could not get the truck to stop. i went and bought another set of brakes and rotors. while changing them, noticed that the brakes calipers were cracked and rusted. had truck towed to nissan dealer, waiting on a decision from them to see if they will fix them. truck is under warranty, and extended warranty that i purchased from nissan. these were suppose to have been replaced by the dealer before, but i don't think they did. i am paying a truck payment every month for a truck that basically sits in my driveway because we are afraid to drive it. we never know if the brakes will work. nissan doesn't seem to care, even though they have admitted that there is a problem with the braking system design. i fear that someone will be killed if nissan doesn't step up and put an end to the brake issue. *tr

In july of '08, my wife called to tell me she was having a problem with our truck. she was afraid to drive it, as she reported a brake failure that and was nearly in an accident. she was exiting a parking lot to a busy road. as she approached the end of the parking lot, she braked to wait for a clearing in traffic. she said the brake pedal went to the floor, the truck made a loud rumbling noise, and the truck rolled out to the edge of the busy street until she pumped the brake pedal and stopped the truck. she left it there and waited for me, afraid to move it. i inspected the truck and found no mechanical problems. i figured that there was a fault with the abs system, which went away after the truck was turned off and the system was rebooted/self tested. on august 22, 2008, the fault returned. my wife backed the truck out of our driveway, and the truck displayed the same symptoms when she tried to stop at the bottom of the driveway. she avoided hitting a parked vehicle on the other side of the street. she left the engine running so as to not reset the abs computer, and called me out to check the truck. i could find no mechanical fault, and found the abs fully engaging when pressing the brakes, resulting in very little stopping power. pumping the brakes cause near full application of braking force, even at light pedal pressure. i determined that it was an abs issue. both times the fault occurred, the brake light illuminated. turning off the truck and restarting resolved the problem, confirming my suspicion of a software fault. i searched on line and found a nissan tsb that addressed the issue. i brought the truck to dirito brothers nissan in concord, ca to have the tsb applied, which involved a abs software update. i was surprised and upset to learn that the repair was not covered under warranty, as the software update was considered an adjustment. i was charged $150 for this service. the service writer stated he saw a number of trucks with the problem. *tr

I had total brake failure on my truck. the pedal goes completely to the floor intermittently during driving. dealer reports they cannot find any problems even after showing them that the pedal does go to the floor. i believe it is a faulty master cylinder or brake booster, and can cause injury or death if it happens on the freeway or at any significant speed. i believe there should be a tech bulletin and a recall notice sent out asap, and the repairs to be made under warranty by nissan. *tr

I bought a nissan titan crew cab, new, in 2004. in june of 2006 the brakes had a complete failure and went all the way to the floor without stopping the truck. this happened several time on my way to the dealership. the nissan dealership stated the problem was that the software needed upgrading. the saleman also noted that they have had problems with the breaks in the nissan titans and armadas. they upgraded the software. the process was called misc reprogram vdc with update which i had to pay for. they fixed the issue for that occurence. the breaks worked until yesterday, dec 13, 2006 when the breaks did the same thing, causing me to run off the road to avoid rear ending into another car. i did not read in the owners manual anywhere , where it stated i must bring the truck in for a computer software upgrade to make the brakes work appropriately. the truck is at the nissan dealership now to figure out the problem. *nm

Problem with nissan titan 2004-traveling on 01/08/06 in nissan pickup truck w/approx. 28,000 miles on it, attempted to brake, vehicle began swaying violently out of control, brake pedal went to the floor and spun vehicle 180 degrees facing north on the shoulder of the southbound lane of nys thruway. towing jayco 23' travel trailer; the trailer jack-knifed and hit vehicle. nys police called a tow truck because vehicle's brake pedal went to the floor and vehicle was not driveable. in the fall nissan sent a letter to truck owners regarding a brake judder condition extending the warranty period.upon receipt of letter, requested that our local dealer address the issue; were informed until we experienced the judder problem, repairs could not commence. since that time, tires have been rotated, oil changed, and nys inspection in december. contacted nissan corp headquarters and were informed factory rep would inspect vehicle on 02/02/06 - approx 25-days after incident. local dealership cannot inspect vehicle. no assistance by nissan until inspection by factory representative determining fault, even though the braking system completely failed! after further investigation of this problem on several auto forum sites, it is evident that nissan titan's have a serious brake problem! there is no recall . we fear that someone will get maimed or killed! *nm

Bought the nissan titan used in november of 2007. i recently found a wet spot on the driver's side wheel (inside) under the brake rotor. i took the truck to the dealership and they said it seems to be a pretty common problem with the titan. it's a leaking axle seal. this leak was causing brake fluid to leak around and possible onto the brake rotor, calipers, and pads. this is a very dangerous problem due to possible fire and or brake failure. *tr

1.) truck shakes when brake is applied. 2.) truck shakes violently when brake is applied -hard to maintain control. 3.) nissan turned the rotors. the nissan representative acknowledged that there is a problem with the braking system on these trucks and that several other nissan titan owners were having the same problem but they will not offer a permanent fix until the rotors have been turned twice by the nissan service center. at this point (the third appointment for brakes) they will install a new braking system. this should be rendered both unsafe and unacceptable. since there is a noted problem, nissan should have offered a permanent fix at the first service appointment. nissan should not be allowed to gamble with people's lives by deterring a permanent fix on a safety component such as brakes.

Purchased a new 2004 nissan titan le truck on 10/23/2004 and it has since had to have new brake pads and rotors 3 times in 7 months with only 19281 miles driven on the truck. the first replacement was at 4662 miles on 12/13/04, the 2nd replacement was at 8416 miles on 1/26/05, 3rd replacment was at 15755 miles on 4/26/05 and 4th replacement is needed now. when the pads and rotors start failing, very harsh steering vibrations occur when the brakes are applied. this has a great potential for causing serious accidents especially in inclimate weather. i have complined to the dealership where i have had it serviced all 3 times so far and i have also contacted nissan's customer service department and have yet to recieve any information that they have a fix for this problem except to continue to replace the pads and rotors every 2000-3000 miles, but what happens when the warranty runs out at 36000 miles. this problem should be addressed and not left to cause a serious accident or death. i know i am not the only person having problems with the brakes because if you google search nissan titan brake problems on the web you will find numerous forums of people discussing the same problems i am having with my brakes. please help with this issue before it is to late and someone is killed.

Nissan north america has incorrectly defined the condition brake judder as steering wheel shake, body vibration or brake pedal pulsation while braking (emphasis mine), especially at highway speeds. my problem manifested itself at highway speeds while no braking was being accomplished, and was extreme after the purchase of new premium tires (toyo open country h/t). while a fix has been offered for brake judder as nissan defines it, i was told at two different nissan dealers that it would not remedy my problem. my problem surfaced before the 36 month/ unlimited mileage limitation, but i did not utilize the warranty coverage because my situation did not fit the definition. an independent tire dealer mechanic (who used to work for nissan) indicated that defective rotors were indeed the problem, and internet forums and lemon law websites supported his claim. since i had exceeded the 36 month limit by 90 days, i elected to let the local independent tire dealer install the nissan parts. he was correct! problem solved (at least for now). i called nissans consumer affairs line to complain, and to let them know that i felt that a safety recall should have been implemented because of the extreme safety implications involved--and not the company cost saving measures of a couple of tsbs and a feebly modified basic auto warranty. nissan is acutely aware that they have a problem. she asked me what nissan na could do for me? i replied, pay for the parts and labor that it cost me to fix my truck, which total $747.65. she asked if i had the receipts for the repairs and i answered in the affirmative. when i disclosed that and independent tire dealer had installed the nissan parts (done by a former nissan technician), reimbursement for parts and labor were resolutely denied because a nissan dealer didn't do the job (the same folks who told me i no longer had warranty coverage, and that the fix would not remedy my particular problem). *tr updated 03/17/08

Took my vehicle to the dealer for service on the front brakes because of shuddering and excessive wear. was told by service rep that there was a service campaign on the brakes because they were undersized for the vehicle. the repair kit would be ordered to replace the rotors, calipers, and pads. i was never notified by nissan of any defect in the brakes. it took 2 months to get the parts in but not the parts they had discussed. they turned the rotors because they were warped replaced a control arm and replaced the pads. making the rotor thinner and replacing the pads is not going to resolve the problem. they indicated another repair kit would be available in april or may. meanwhile i continue to drive with the brakes being admittedly undersized for this vehicle.

Defective brakes on all nissan titan trucks manufactured to date. i have to replace the front brakes every 4000-4500 miles. they shake violently and could easily cause a traffic accident. nissan does not have a fix for this problem and should recall all nissan titans at this time for a permanent replacement of the faulty system. i now have 9300 miles on my new 2004 titan and am currently on my third set of front brakes.

Purchased 2004 nissan titan se four door may 23rd for work. i average approximately 3,500 miles per month. the steering wheel started rocking back and forth violently every time i stepped on the brakes after about 4,500 miles. i took it in to the dealer and had the brake disks turned and the pads, bolts, miscellaneous items replaced under warranty. the truck started doing the same thing at 12,000 miles, around september, 2004. this time they replaced the discs, calipers, pads, bolts, everything and made all new again. i drove it and it happened again at 18,000 miles. at this point i was becoming very frustrated and angry at the situation. the nissan dealer promised me that they had just received the most up to date repair kit from the nissan factory and that they were being told that this should take care of the problem. the truck was braking fine until i reached 23,000 miles at the end of december, 2004. i spoke to the customer service department at the dealership and lodged a formal complaint. i was asked when was the last time that i had my brakes done and was told that they had a new repair kit since then. i told him that i was told this the last time and yet here i am again with the same problem. i had my brakes done again on thursday december 30th, 2004. this means that my brakes have been done four times in the past six months since i purchased the vehicle. *jb

At 4345 miles, brake rotors overheating due to non-full-release of calipers causing rotor warp, jerking in steering wheel, damage and overheating of tires, loss of control on wet pavement even at slow speeds, damage to steering components due to shaking caused by warped rotors, blue overheating marks on rotors. i returned the titan to the dealer at 6:30am., called back at 2:15pm and was told that i would either have to leave the truck at the dealership or pick it up due to non-availability of parts. this was over 2 months back. still no parts, shake is still consistent when using the brakes at any pressure and speed.*ak

Approximately four months after purchasing my 2004 nissan titan i gradually began experiencing a 'shudder while braking' problem. the problem quickly escalated and became greater and greater. on march 30th, 2005, i took the truck into passport nissan of marlow heights, maryland for repairs. at this point i learned through the service manager that nissan was aware of the problem but they did not have permanent repair kit for the problem. my truck was out of service for one day and they returned my truck indicating that they resurfaced the rotors and replaced the brake pads. this procedure was only a temporary solution for the problem. approximately 4,000 miles later the 'shudder w/braking' problem re-occurred. just as before the problem escalated and became greater and greater. on july 07th, 2005, i returned my 2004 nissan titan to the same dealership for the same repair. on july 12th, 2005, i picked up my truck and discovered that no repairs had been made and the problem still existed. the service manager indicated to me that parts were on order. as of the date of this report, the problem still exist and nissan does not have a corrective repair kit for this defect. the service manager also indicated that nissan of america was aware of the problem and that they were working on a solution. to my knowledge there has been no recall for this defect and there probably should be one. the brakes on my truck are terrible and at time appear ineffective, especially in wet weather. in my opinion nissan has not addressed this problem appropriately. i am aware of other nissan titan owners who are experiencing the same problem and none of them have received notification about this defect or anything that nissan is doing to rectify the defect. *nm

I purchased a 2004 nissan titan in november, at about 2,500 miles i noticed a slight shudder when i applied my brakes at higher speeds. the situation deteriorated over the next thousand miles or so until i could feel the shudder when i used my brakes going just a couple miles an hour. the dealership replaced the the pads and machined the rotors which took care of the problem, but let me know that there was a good chance this would occur again. i was told that nissan had a permanent fix for the problem, but since this was the first occurence i wasn't elligible for that repair.*ak

I purchased a 2004 nissan titan le in november of 2004. when the vehicle reached a little over 4,000 miles the brakes started to shudder and the steering wheel would vibrate and also the brake pedal. the local nissan dealership replaced the brake pads and ground the rotors and the problem appeared fixed. after another 2,000 miles of driving the brake pedal had to be pushed further and further closer to the floorboard to get brakes to stop the truck. then the steering wheel began to vibrate along with the pedal. the truck was taken back to the local dealership again and the rotors were turned again appearing to solve the problem. after about 200 miles the brakes began to fade again. the steering wheel and the pedal have not started to vibrate yet but going with the past history of the problem it should only be a matter of time. i want nissan to fix the problem immediately. the problem could not only be a safety problem due to no brake pedal when applied but also vibration from applying pedal. lastly a truck with only 6500 miles should not keep getting the rotors turned over and over. *ak

Premature failure of front brake rotors. front brakes shudder and vibrate extremely bad when brakes are applied. dealer will refinish rotors and install new front brake pads for a temporairy repair. i have driven 9400 miles total on this vehicle with three set of front brakes replaced. have not towed any trailer or vehicle with it to cause failure. braking system is insufficient for this vehicle and titan trucks must be recalled for the safety of the owners of this product immediately. this is a severe safety issue that can cause an accident and injury to it's occupants. nissan will not acknowledge this problem to it's owners and the nhtsa must step in and have them recalled at once.*ak

*jb

No accident or injury as of yet. however, i have been experiencing brake judder issues on my 2004 nissan titan evry 3000 to 5000 miles. i currently have 10,900 miles on the truck, and have just brought it back to the dealer for the third time for repair of this issue. judjing from my experience, and that of other titan owners, it is reasonably clear to me that we are dealing with an inferior design of the brake system on this truck and it is only a matter of time before someone is killed. this is a problem that nissan has been dealing with for months now, but with no good resolution. it has even been rumored from a very reliable source at nissan, that the problem extends back to a misplaced purchase order for hundreds of thousands of the brake parts. rather than order the right parts, and delay shipment, nissan has elected to build the trucks and deal with the problem later. i hope that there can be some kind of investigation into this problem, with the outcome being a forced recall (not just a tsb).*ak
