Defect SummaryOn certain king cab trucks, the wires in the harness were routed through the rear doors and into the body. these wires may break due to over bending of the harness as the door is opened and closed. the harness contains wires for the driver seat belt pretensioner and for the front passenger seat belt which is part of the occupant classification system. wires for the rear audio speakers are also contained n the harness.
Consequence SummaryIf the wires for the seat belts and speaker wires break and make contact, there is a possibility that the pretensioner may deploy. if this happens when the seat belt is retracted, it will not be possible to use the seat belt. if one of the wires on the right side harness for the seat belt tension sensor breaks, the passenger side front air bag will not deploy as designed in a frontal collision increasing the risk of a crash and personal injury.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the wire harness cover with a different type that prevents over bending of the harness and the harness will be rerouted free of charge. the recall began on february 19, 2007. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

On may 30, 2008, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened a preliminary evaluation based on consumer complaints alleging that smoke and/or fire erupted in the engine compartment of model year (my) 2005-2006 nissan armada and titan vehicles.by letter dated june 24, 2008, nissan notified the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) that it will conduct a safety recall (nhtsa #08v284) for my2005-2006 nissan titan, armada and infiniti qx56 vehicles manufactured from march 17, 2005 to august 21, 2006 that are equipped with a 90-watt air conditioning condenser fan.the recall involves approximately 180,664 vehicles.this also includes approximately 5,689 subject condenser fans, some of which may have been installed in my2004 and pre-march 17, 2005 my nissan titan, armada or infiniti qx56 vehicles as a service replacement part.nissan dealers will install a special thermal protector kit on existing fans that will eliminate the potential for a fire to occur.nissan north america, inc. (nissan) informed odi that the 90-watt air conditioning condenser fan was manufactured out-of-specification allowing for excessive water intrusion and inadequate drainage of moisture that may accumulate in the motor as a result of water intrusion or condensation.if sufficient moisture accumulates in the motor without adequate drainage, corrosion may occur.the corrosion can cause an increase in internal friction and an increase in the electrical current draw, resulting in an increase in the temperature of the motor that could melt its wiring insulation and other plastic components and form a gas.if two wires without insulation touch each other and create a spark, this gas could ignite and result in a fire.the action taken by nissan is sufficient to resolve the issue raised by this investigation.accordingly, this investigation is closed.

Took my truck to the dealership several times and told them that my manual shifter was intermittent. they said they could not find anything wrong with it. but when i left the dealership it was not working. it finally stop working at all. took it back to the dealership and they found a broken ground wire. the cost of the part 413.00 labor 375.00. i did not get it repaired because of the cost. i went online and researched it and found it for 253.00 and putting it in would be easy for myself. after a couple of hours on research on how to install this, i came across several sections of people with the same problem. come to find out nissan is aware of this problem. being that over time shifting gears made the wires break. how is it that certified repair centers don't keep up on these problems. i spent a lot of time going back and forth to the dealership. and why isn't nissan covering the problem. i'm very disappointed in nissan for this and has made me change my mind about my next vehicle purchase.

My 2005 nissan titan is exhibiting the failures as outlined in nissan nhtsa recall campaign 06v459000 (electrical system / wiring harness) and nhtsa recall campaign 10v074000 (fuel system / fuel gauge system). after reporting my issues to my local nissan dealer and nissan consumer affairs, i was told my vin was not included in either recall campaign. nissan consumer affairs finally gave me a case number and told me to have my local nissan dealer diagnose the truck and provide the written diagnosis and cost estimate to a nissan consumer affairs specialist. after paying $85 for a diagnosis, the local dealer confirmed in a written diagnosis and estimate, that my truck was experiencing the same failures that the 2 recalls cite and that my truck needed the same remedies as outlined in the recalls. after providing this information to the nissan consumer affairs specialist, nissan declined to cover my repairs stating that my vin was not included, i did not have a complete history of nissan servicing my vehicle and that my vehicle was outside the limited warranty term. i knew my truck was outside the warranty term, my truck needs to be included in the recall campaign, which has nothing to do with warranty. nissan is negligent in not including my truck in the recall. i have seen this same complaint from numerous others in my same situation, on this website and other online forums. the recall needs to be expanded as they obviously are not covering all vehicles affected by the failures cited. *tr

Prior to leaving for a trip i stoped by the dealership that i bought the truck from informed me that the exhaust was broken due to rust i was also told that there was no issue with driving it to nc from ct on the way back from nc the trailer lights failed and i started receiving slip abs brake and 4wd lights on my dash. i return the truck to the dealership and was told that the exhaust had melted the wiring harness where it had broke/rusted. i spoke to another dealership and was told this was a common issue where the wiring harness would melt when the exhaust brakes/rusts... i was also told that they had seen some where the whole tail lamp had melted. *tr

This vehicle has more common failures than any i have seen. both of the rear leaf spring shackles rotted out. the rear axle seals are now leaking. in 6 months i have replaced 2 oxygen sensors and now for the 2nd time i am replacing the evap canister control valve. nissan seems to ignore all of these issues and has redesigned many of these problem areas in newer models however does not own up to fixing the issues on vehicles that are on the road.

I was having an issue with my engine stalling with around 97,900 miles on my 2005 nissan titan. at this time, my check engine light also came on. i took it to the dealership to get the problem code read and they said i had faulty bank 1 and bank 2 catalytic converters. the dealer said the stalling was due to a recall, nhtsa campaign id number: 10v517000. my complaint is that i had no problem with my catalytic converters until this recall issue. since my catalytic converters and exhaust manifold are one piece, it cost $2,827.28 to have them replaced and i do not feel i should have to pay this, since this problem stemmed from their recall issue.

Routing of main rear wiring harness through the right rear wheel well exposes harness to road debris, sand, water, salt, snow, ice, etc. which degrades the harness prematurely causing and electrical short in the harness. the short in the harness caused the wire insulation to catch fire and melt all electrical insulating material and the harness jacket. the harness short, in-turn shorted out the bcm (body control module) causing the failure of all systems controlled by the bcm (lights, turn signals, brake lights, hazard lights, etc.)

 1. truck will randomly stall while running or in idle position. this occurred starting around march 1st of 2010 and increased in occurrence up until it was towed to northern auto of berkeley michigan the morning of may 28th. the vehicle had been in to northern auto twice between march 1st and may 28th, but could not be fixed because the problem could not be replicated by their mechanics. when it was towed in the morning of may 28th to northern auto, they were able to replicate the issue and recommended it be taken to the nissan dealership. the vehicle was towed from northern auto of berkeley michigan to the nissan dealership of troy michigan on the afternoon of may 28th of 2010. 2. the stalls would happen sporadically while driving at speeds below 40 mph or idle. the vehicle would lose all power, hence rendering the power steering and brakes useless. this did not cause any accidents but has the potential to do so, because the vehicle loses significant stopping and steering power while still moving. at one point the vehicle completely shut down while traveling at approximately 30 mph. 3. the nissan dealership of troy michigan reported the problem was a faulty ecm relay on the internal power distribution module (ipdm). the dealership recommended and is replacing the entire ipdm.

Nissan ipdm (intelligent power distribution module) which houses the fuel pump relay will inadvertently shut off power to the fuel pump. it has happened to me from a parked vehicle and has also happened to me while i was driving down the road. there is no timed sequence as to when this happens, but when it does you lose power to the vehicle immediately. the vehicle will re-start after sitting for 10 minutes, but may cut out again 15 minutes later. *tr

I own a 2005 nissan titan king cab, which i purchased it in november of 2005. after, approximately 30days of ownership and 500 miles of travel; the front brakes began to experience complications (they would shudder while braking and create an unreasonable amount of brake dust.) i quickly return to my local dealership where i purchased it, for servicing. the nissan dealership repaired the rotors. during the summer of 2006, i began to notice a musty odor emitting from the floor and carpeting of the passenger side. during a routine oil change and requested the mechanic to inspect the truck for the cause of the odor. they couldn't locate the source of the odor. i returned the truck to the dealership for the same problem on several other occasions, during the summer of 2007 odor reappeared; they replaced the rubber gasket around door windows in hopes of resolving the issue. meanwhile the front brakes rotors were replaced again and the gauges (fuel, oil, tach ,voltmeter) acting erratically. the dealership repaired the brakes under my extended warranty & prorated my purchase of a new nissan auto battery; according to service dept. this was the cause of the gauges malfunction. then again in2008, i was told the brakes were no longer under warranty and that the musty odor was caused by water coming into the cabin via a small void in the window sealant around the factory installed windshield

Column shifter causes damage to wiring harness of the manual mode transmission button. when shifting vehicle into drive, column hits wiring harness, and over time causes wiring to the transmission manual mode button to break. once this breaks, there is no means to down shift vehicle, causing a hazard especially when traveling roads where there are elevation changes. was able to determine the cause of the manual mode button failure by researching nissan titan forums (club titan and titan talk). upon removing steering column shroud immediately noticed chaffing of the wiring harness, and the broken wire. contacted nissan, was given file number 6550464, nissan was not concerned with this issue due to the age (currently 4 years) of the vehicle. *tr
