Defect SummaryCertain hopkins aftermarket trailer brake control connection harnesses sold for use on certain models of nissan vehicles which are listed above. the internal part numbers within hopkins are: 1010476025, 1040376025, 1110476025, 1170376025, 1290376025, 1010476035, 1040376035, 1110476035, 1170376035, and 1290376035. a wire may have been placed in an incorrect position in the electrical connector housing. this results in an incorrect routing of wires between the trailer brake controller and the towing vehicle wiring system.
Consequence SummaryThis harness would result in power from the trailer brake controller going to the towing vehicle dash light circuit rather than the trailer brakes. this result would be the lack of trailer braking when the towing vehicle brakes were applied. it would also result in the towing vehicles dash lights being activated when the vehicle brakes were applied. the failure of the application of the trailer brake could result in reduced ability to stop and contribute to a possible crash.
Corrective SummaryHopkins will notify owners and replace the original harness with a revised harness free of charge. the recall began august 17, 2007. owners can contact hopkins at 800-835-0129.
NotesThis recall only pertains to aftermarket harnesses and has no relation to any original equipment installed on vehicles manufactured by nissan.customers may contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov.

I was driving my 2005 nissan titan xe and while in a snow storm and pressed the button at 20 mph to engage the 4 wheel drive and herd a clunk and continued to click, click, click and would not engage into 4 wheel. brought to dealer and they told me it is the front differential case and would cost 1520 plus tax to replace and install, i then called nissan 800 # and asked to goodwill part because this seem to be a common problem. nissan told me they could not help because i'm out of my warrantee.

Tail pipe fell off while driving on the interstate 2 weeks after nissan performed their 27 point inspection, which supposedly included checking the muffler, exhaust pipes and mountings. a second nissan dealership (out of town) informed us that this was a common occurance and was actually talking to another nissan titan owner that had the exact same thing happen. the out of town dealership mechanic explained to me that the clamps they use to hold the tail pipe on just behind the muffler, rust off?? so why do they use them??? upon returning home we called the nissan dealership that performed the 27 point inspection (????) he skirted the issue that the box for the mufler, exhaust pipes and mountings inspection was checked off as checked and okay and informed us that it was a costly fix. nothing was done to repair the vehicle and no apologies were made for the obvious overlook of a rusty clamp that could have caused an accident had it fallen completely off, especially traveling at high speeds on a busy interstate on labor day weekend, had we not not heard the clanging of the pipe banging againts the underside of the truck.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. while driving at an unknown speed, smoke entered the vehicle through the vents. there were no warning lights illuminated prior to the failure; however, the left turn signal stopped working. the dealer could not determine the cause of the failure, but they repaired the vehicle according to nhtsa campaign id number 08v284000 (equipment:electrical:air conditioner). the dealer stated that the automotive repair center that had previously performed the repair caused the wires to melt around the fan. the auto center representative (who was actually the one filing the complaint) stated that the recall remedy did not actually repair the entire failure. the representative further stated that the fan repair was insufficient and the recall notice never described what could overheat. the current mileage was approximately 28,400 and failure mileage was approximately 28,300.

2005 nissan titan king cab 2x4 leaking oil from both side of the axle. problem axle seak failure. upon taking the truck into the dealership for checkup and they quoted me for about $1700.00 in repairs. as per there tsb they will replace both axle seals and axle tsb ntb10-032 if the seals fail on most of the titan's shouldn't nissan do a recall on this plus when i was there the service man stated that there tsb says to replace both axle which drives up the cost instead of just replacing the axle seal.
