Rear axel seal is leaking for the third time, which can compromise the rear brakes with axel fluid. nissan made the first repair at 30,000 miles under warranty. i paid for parts and made repairs myself the second time. now at the third i have contacted nissan consumer affairs, and they have refused, with no explanation, to help with this repair, even though they issued an internal service bulletin in 2010, to replace the complete axel with bearing and seal. so nissan is aware that they have an issue with the early model titans. i guess they are waiting for someone to be seriously injured or die before they address this issue. *tr

The vehicle braking began to deteriorate so i checked each wheel, front and back. while inspecting the rear brake pads and rotors i noticed oil on both. upon further inspection i noticed that the rear axle seal on both sides was leaking oil and it had gotten on the rotors and pads. i replaced both rotors and all pads on the rear, and inspected the rear axle vent which i found plugged. i installed a new vent but the rear axle seals are still leaking and need to be replaced. in doing research on the problem i found it to be common on this vehicle. *tr

Nissan titan purchased in march, with approx 4,000 miles the truck began to shake when braking. the truck has 5,00 miles now and shakes severely when braking on a downhill grade and manuevering curvy roads. it was difficult and i beleive unsafe to travel any longer with this vehicle. when the local dealership was notified of the shake/shimmy they informed me of a waiting list for parts and stated that they new exactly what the problem was, that all dealerships in the area have a waiting list for this part and that it was safe to drive the vehicle. i disagree. living in an area with hills and curvy roads it is not safe to operate this vehicle. i will not be driving the nissan titan until it is repaired. i did not hear of a recall and was surprised to know that the secretary at the service desk knew exactly what my problem was without anyone looking at my vehicle. this could endanger lives.

I purchased my nissan titan in jan of 2006, and since then have been plagued by repairs and maintenance. the most recent and most annoying has been the front brakes. over the course of a few weeks, my truck would start to shudder violently when i applied the brakes. upon having the problem serviced i was told that the front rotors were warped to the point of failure. the entire front brake system was replaced at no cost to me.

The front end of the nissan titan truck shakes extremely violently when the brakes are applied. according to the dealer this is problem on every nissan titan and nissan is aware of it and providing a repair kit of parts, however they are doing it extremely slowly with a terribly insufficient supply of parts for the scope of the problem.

I purchased a 2005 titan 4 door 2 months ago. at approx. 3000 miles it began to shake violently when the brakes are applied at any speed. i called the dealership, who affirmed that this was a known defect prior to my purchase, and that i could bring it in for a temporary fix. they exclamed that this was not a safety issue. i strongly disagree with their claim, and am very disappointed by their lack of responsibility concerning this matter.

I believe that the nissan titans have a safety issue with their brakes. i purchased the truck new in 2005 with 14 miles showing on the odometer. after the first year of ownership i noticed that the brake pedal pulsated a lot when applying the brakes. i never leave my foot on or ride the brake pedal nor do i use the brakes excessively, most of the miles on the vehicle are highway miles because the truck is used mostly for vacation purposes. i do however tow a small 6 by 12 foot box trailer with 4 bicycles in it, which makes for a light load. it has continued to progress and become more pronounced as the vehicle ages. at around 13,000 miles the brakes sometimes grab or would not stop with out applying excessive force to the brake pedal much more than when the vehicle was new, this would bring the truck to a shaking, rough or sometimes tire squealing stop. at 13,300 i took the vehicle to a dealership to see if they could correct this problem, they said they could try machining the rotors for around $440 or replace the rotors which would cost quite a bit more, however the repair would not be covered under the warranty. the truck still has the same problem with 14,991 miles on the odometer. i feel if there is a problem with the rotors it is a safety issue and it should be covered by the warranty. this is the only vehicle out of about 10 new vehicles that i purchased which has brake problems.

Although i haven't had an incident yet, i worry about it everyday. my 2005 nissan titan has the worst brakes that i've ever had in a vehicle. the brake pedal goes to the floor on every stop. sometimes while the brake pedal is depressed it skips and it feels like the brakes release then grab again. this truck was meant to tow up to 9,000lbs, but when i towed about 4,000 and tried to stop, i almost ran into someone. the brakes are horrible without towing and beyond acceptable towing any weight. since that happened, i have yet to tow anything else, i'm afraid the truck won't stop. i've taken it to the dealer multiple times and they acknowledge the brakes aren't what they should be but there's nothing that they can do because nissan hasn't addressed the problem. i'm hoping that this problem could be locked into. the dealer also told me that the nissan armada has the same brakes and the same problems. thank you as far as the incident date, i'm just using the first date that i can remember realizing the problem. *tr

I own a 2005 nissan titan king cab, which i purchased it in november of 2005. after, approximately 30days of ownership and 500 miles of travel; the front brakes began to experience complications (they would shudder while braking and create an unreasonable amount of brake dust.) i quickly return to my local dealership where i purchased it, for servicing. the nissan dealership repaired the rotors. during the summer of 2006, i began to notice a musty odor emitting from the floor and carpeting of the passenger side. during a routine oil change and requested the mechanic to inspect the truck for the cause of the odor. they couldn't locate the source of the odor. i returned the truck to the dealership for the same problem on several other occasions, during the summer of 2007 odor reappeared; they replaced the rubber gasket around door windows in hopes of resolving the issue. meanwhile the front brakes rotors were replaced again and the gauges (fuel, oil, tach ,voltmeter) acting erratically. the dealership repaired the brakes under my extended warranty & prorated my purchase of a new nissan auto battery; according to service dept. this was the cause of the gauges malfunction. then again in2008, i was told the brakes were no longer under warranty and that the musty odor was caused by water coming into the cabin via a small void in the window sealant around the factory installed windshield

I purchased a new nissan titan from alan kurth dealership minot, nd. may of 2005. within the year i asked several times about the strange braking experience. i noticed some vibration from the front brakes that also vibrated the steering column. i was told that this was normal on a titan heavy duty truck . i am not a mechanic and took their word. that dealership went out of business shortly thereafter and the only other nissan dealer was in bismark, a long way from where i lived at the time. i did take it to that dealer, bismark honda-nissan-hyundai in july of 2006 in response to a recall about another issue. nothing was mentioned by them about any problem with the brakes. the truck was not driven that much, currently has less than 30,000 miles and the vibration has become worse and worse once i brought the vehicle to florida last fall to the point that i took it to my mechanic. i was told then after they inspected the truck on april 23rd. 2009 that nissan had identified a major problem with the brakes on this model called brake judder he suggested i call nissan to see how they were managing the problem. i telephoned nissan consumer office on april 24th and spoke with andy who opened a case file and that number is 6477694. he said i would have to begin with the local dealer to have them inspect the truck so i contacted maroone nissan in ft lauderdale and took the truck in on april 27, 2009. i dealt with the assistant service manager. when they had finally finished with their inspection he told me that nissan would not provide a courtesy repair since they had initially extended the warranty expired in 2008. i had researched the issue and found the following that nissan failed to provide. 1. the issue was sent out to all nissan service managers on march 16, 2005. the repairs were not made prior to my purchase. 2. they were directed to supply a legible photocopy about the warranty extension. they did not. this was detailed in nissan advisory nnawb/05-01. *tr
10/01/2007480001
On my 2005 nissan titan, both of my rear axle seals failed with only 48,000 miles on the vehicle. the fluid leaks axle lubricant by the rear wheels, which gets onto the rear disk brakes, which makes the rear brakes ineffective, especially when pulling a trailer. nissan replaced the seals, however the popular belief of the cause of this is a 1-way valve vent that allows the pressure within the axle to escape, but doesn't let air back into the axle. this occurrence causes a vacuum inside the axle, which pulls on the axle seals and causes them to age prematurely. *tr

My vehicle is experiencing violent shaking of the steering wheel under braking. nissan has identified that 2004 and early 2005 titans were built with brake rotors that are too small, resulting in the rotors warping due to overheating. nissan calls this issue brake juddering and has issued three technical service bulletins regarding fixing the problem by installing an upgraded (bigger rotors) brake kit. nissan extended the brake warranty for this issue to 36 months/36,000miles. i am under the mileage limit (31,000) but have exceeded the time limit by one month. this is a serious safety issue and i feel they need to be willing to replace the rotors for any vehicle originally equipped with the undersized rotors. i have taken the vehicle to my local nissan service department and they have confirmed that my rotors are warped and recommend replacement. *tr

Purchased a new nissan titan in 2/2005. had the front brakes replaced at 25,000 under warranty when began to feel vibration in steering wheel while applying the brakes. presently i have 57,000 miles on the truck and the same vibration in the steering wheel while applying the brakes is happening again. took the vehicle to local dealer and they informed me that i needed a updated torque member kit and new front pads and brakes for my truck at a cost of $756.59 because the truck was out of warranty. the service manager said to take my compliant to the factory. i have called repeatedly to the factory and am still waiting for a call back. driving my truck is unsafe and i am risking my life everyday i get into it to drive to and from work. my major compliant with this issue is that it is not a warranty issue, it is a manufactured defect in the torque member kit and front brakes and i should not be responsible for the cost. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan titan pickup. while approaching a red light at 30 mph i stepped on my brake to slow the vehicle. i heard a loud clunk, my brakes became mushy, there was a clicking sound, and my brake warning light came on. by pressing down hard on the brake pedal i was able to slow to a stop. i eventually made my way into a parking lot. i stopped the vehicle, checked the brake fluid and it was fine. when i restarted the vehicle the red light was off and the vehicle operated normally. it is now at the dealership where it is undergoing diagnostics. brakes are the most important safety feature in a vehicle. they cannot spontaneously fail. this has been a growing problem on nissan titans and armadas and should be investigated. thank you. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan titan. recently, the brakes failed on the vehicle and i was unable to stop. i had the vehicle towed to the local nissan dealership. i was called two days later and was told that there is no problem with the brakes and that there was nothing more they could do for me because they cannot recreate the problem and the vehicle computer did not record any fault codes. i've asked them to tow the vehicle to another dealership for a second opinion and they refuse to do it. i've been told that its my responsibility and that if the brakes fail again, to bring it back into the dealership. i've called nissan directly and they are not offering any help, they stand behind what the dealership has told me. in my opinion, nobody should get behind the wheel of this vehicle. it now seems like i have no choice but to drive the vehicle until it happens again. *jb

2005 nissan titan le 5.6 4/4 king cab vin# 1n6aao6b55n500477; i took my truck to the dealer 10/06/05 to replace a cooling fan that they ordered 3 weeks ago and check my brakes. the brake pedal goes to the floor when you are stopped or coming to a stop. you have to pump it up to bring it back up. they installed the fan and told me there is nothing wrong with the brakes as some of the other models do the same thing. the brake cylinder fluid was full. it scares me to drive with the pedal going to the floor. the fluid has to be going somewhere maybe bypassing the seals as this is a closed system. i had to call customer service to have the fan replaced and they said there were very few replacement parts available for these trucks(3wks for a fan). i need help as i don't want to kill someone or myself. nissan does not care. *nm

Brake pedal pushes back aggressively, shimmy in steering wheel at speeds of 35 mph. steering wheel jerks at times to right and left at speeds of up to 50 mph along with brake pedal push back. this happened in a matter of days. the problem is getting worse. dealership says i have to pay to get new rotors a brakes. i have not drove that aggressive nor slammed on my brakes to have rotors replaced, nor do i ride the brakes to have my brakes replaced this early in the game for a new truck do this! this is outrageous that i was never told about a possible brake and rotor problem. this is a major safety issue. i will not put my family in this truck. the corporate person i talked to says they are aware of the problem and addressed the problem with that i was not the only person having this problem, but no recall was issued not even a warning was posted. this is not general maintenance this is a major(safety) defect. corporate told me that the rotors are to small for the truck. if there is a major accident who gets stuck with the bill my insurance company and i cover the gap. i have already replaced two tires for abnormal wearing in the front of the truck and that is after rotating several times. is this a safety issue, like the one ford had on its explorer? i will not recommend this car company to anybody. *jb

I have a 2005 nissan titan fully loaded. i have had the brakes changed twice. the driver side window does not operate properly. nissan was aware that the brakes on the truck had problems and never told me when i bought it. nissan was aware that the driver side window is also defective. there is a tsb issued for both problems. i have been told that there is no fix for the brakes, that i will have to continue to bring the truck in about every 3000 miles and have the rotors and pads replaced. i was told nissan is looking for a fix. the driver side window is the same situation. nissan corporate has told dealerships not to fix the window issue, they have no resolution to the issue. the window may stop in the down posistion or in the up position. in my case it has done both and finally it would not go up at all. i had to drive with the window open for a day until i could get it to a dealer to be looked at. the dealership has told me there is no fix but they would try there best. *ak

Purchased 2005 nissan titan truck on 2/1/2005. on 4/21/05 with 6,000 miles, truck shook/shimmied when applying brakes. under warranty, nissan dealer replaced front pads and resurfaced the front rotors. on 6/23/05 with 11,000 miles, truck again shook/shimmied when applying brakes. still under warranty, nissan dealer replaced front and rear pads and rotors again! on 1/14/08, needed to replace the crappy goodyear wrangler sr-a (p265/70r18) tires that came with the truck (also had 3 flat tires) even though i rotated them regularly (less than 40,000 miles). today, the tire center indicated i needed new brakes. called nissan dealer and am again taking the truck into service to correct and get new rotors/pads. by the way, the warranty on my truck for this repair runs out on 2/1/08. going forward, i will have to be responsible to pay. this stinks! how come there hasn't been a recall and corrective procedure implemented? $37,000 vehicle! *tr

Bad vibration when braking so bad in fact had to leave the road to avoid traffic. no injuries to people, property, or vehicles. happened 2 miles from home so went home first. a quick call to my attorneys office led me to the nhts.dot.gov site. i was shocked of all the complaints i read about on these trucks and still no recall? that's just irresponsible! printed out a bunch on complaints and headed into my local nissan dealer. went to the service manager introduced myself and asked him if they have any problems with the nissan titans brakes the service manager said i'm not aware of any. so i handed him the complaints from this site and asked if he could explain it to me. within minutes they road tested my truck and said yes there is a problem. the service manager said they would fix my truck right away and nissan was giving the brakes on these trucks warranties for 10 year or 100,000 miles. they called me a rental car, paid for it, and said they could finish the work today. work order replaced front brake rotors. pads and torque members replaced rear brake pads and resurfaced rear rotors parts: 2 40206-zc00a rotor disc brake 1 41060-zc027 pad kit - disc 1 44060-zc025 pad kit - disc br 4 41005-7s000 bolt took them a few hours to finish the repairs i was optimistic to see they got right after the problem hopefully that fixes it. i would still like to have that 10y/100k brake warranty in writing. we will see if this is just a work around or a fix time will tell. i'll post more info as i receive it. b

At 941 miles, 9 days after buying the vehicle; the front brakes would make a sound when stepping on and letting off the brakes. it also felt like they were dragging. a lot of brake dust was also noted on the rims. it felt as if the front brake pads were worn out. the dealer checked all 4 brakes and gave my husband a reason why the pads were wearing so soon. brakes on front found to be at 12mm with no abnormal wear...rotors were said to be ok as well. also noted a snapping noise when turning left , slow turns, sharp turns and when we almost would come to a stop. during road test they said they could hear the abs click and it was normal as was all other suspension. and for some reason the state inspection sticker had not been updated prior to our leaving the lot. *jb

I purchased my 2005 nissan titan on september 28, 2005. i noticed a vibration beginning in late february 2006 when braking. on march 11, 2006, the brakes were reported within normal limits during regular scheduled maintenance at 17344 miles. the service technician reported that the rotors were warped and recommended an updated brake kit if the vehicle had not already had it. the service advisor stated that there was no need to do this work until the brakes needed to be replaced and that the vehicle was still safe to drive. the vibration has consistently worsened since that time and the entire truck vibrates when braking. i feel that this is a manufacturer's defect. i have owned many other trucks and never required brakes or rotor repair within 6 months of purchase. i have researched different websites to discover there have been no recalls in this area. *nm

I was driving on route a state blacktop coming into a sharp corner and when i applied the brakes the front wheels began to shimmy very hard. it caused the 2005 nissan titan pickup to lose contact with the highway causing it to leave the road and overturn. the truck was totaled and i received minor injuries. air bag and seat belt saved me. nissan knows they have a problem and i was not notified about a possible brake problem until it wrecked me. they should be responsible for recalling all their trucks with this problem. if i would have died in the crash, no one would know the cause. i do not have the money to buy back the truck from the insurance company for the proof of warped rotors causing the accident. it also appeared the rear brakes did not work because the abs system was confused? i could use some help here. *nm
