| The door handles on my 2005 nissan titan freeze every time the temperature drops below freezing . i live in the northeast ! i bought the truck for safe winter driving but when te temperature drops below freezing the door handle freezes up and wont open . if you do manage to somehow get the door open you can not close it again until it thaws out . my wife and daughter both use this vehicle and i consider this an unsafe issue. i have also read many forums pertaining to this problem and am wondering why this has not become a recall. | |||

| On november 30, 2010 while driving my son to school my steering wheel locked-up and the rack & pinion leaked all the oil and the truck was totally disabled. also july 30, 2011(mileage 28830) it happened again while going on vacation with my family to los angeles. while driving on the freeway i heard some vibration on the steering wheel and the steering totally disengaged from the rack & pinion. we were not able to steer the wheel at all that we had to stop and get help. also december 29, 2012 (mileage 33323) it happened again while pulling the truck out of my garage, this time it leaked all the oil from the rack & pinion and the steering wheel was very stiff to drive. i feel that this problem needs to be addressed as soon as possible because somebody can get badly injured or killed because it's really unsafe to drive this truck. future nissan where i bought the truck will not help me with this issue & are denying to fix my truck again because they are saying it's the same problem again. i ask that you please help me resolve this matter. thank you, sabas mendoza | |||

| While driving my truck home from work,i noticed the sound of the the exhaust became progressively louder. i parked the truck for the night. prior to leaving the next morning i tried to locate the source of the increased noise. however, i noticed after starting the vehicle the noised would decrease. therefore, i took the truckk to my mechanic for diagnosis. he told me that the header on one side is cracked and the other header on the other-side shows signs of stress. also, he explained this a common issue with the nissan titan and i might want to explore my repair option with the local nissan dealership. however, after discussing this issue with the nissan dealership, i was told there is no recall for the notorious issue and the cost of the repair is my responsibility. upon hearing this, i decide i would lodge my complaint about this issue here. | |||

| Prior to leaving for a trip i stoped by the dealership that i bought the truck from informed me that the exhaust was broken due to rust i was also told that there was no issue with driving it to nc from ct on the way back from nc the trailer lights failed and i started receiving slip abs brake and 4wd lights on my dash. i return the truck to the dealership and was told that the exhaust had melted the wiring harness where it had broke/rusted. i spoke to another dealership and was told this was a common issue where the wiring harness would melt when the exhaust brakes/rusts... i was also told that they had seen some where the whole tail lamp had melted. | |||

| On 7/12/07 nissan had to replace both exhaust manifolds on the truck with 41,795 miles on it. these were covered under warranty and now again at 106,000 miles both exhaust manifolds are again cracked. i was told by the dealer that these manifolds only last 50-60,000 miles before they fail and that they are replacing them on all the trucks. i called nissan and they are telling me they are not going to do anything about it. if i go to titan talk website there are several people complaining about the same issue. seems like a faulty part that they should have to take care of. | |||

| The rear end was replaced under warranty in my 2005 titan at 55k miles no charge due to oval shaped axle tubes causing axle seal failure. here i am again 2012 with 115k miles out of warranty but only 60k miles on the rear end that was replaced under warranty and have the same issue blown axle seals due to out of round axle tubes. if you do not recognize this all the axle oil can leak out causing sudden rear differential failure which may lead to a crash or loss of life. nissan was contacted about this issue after the seals where replaced in the second rear end and the seals continue to leak after replacement. nissan refused to do anything about the issue and stated your truck is out of warranty imo there should have been a recall on the axles leaking along with the cracked exhaust manifolds that were numerous reported also. visit the nissan forums and you can view 44 pages of differential issues on titan talk.com. nissan should be held accountable... | |||

| In april 2011 my rear axle seals on my nissan titan were leaking. i had these seals replaced with genuine nissan parts. not even 11 months later, i was coming home from camping, and at approx 45 mph i heard a loud pop, and metal on metal in my rear wheels. i immediately pulled over and found a mechanic within .2 of a mile. he told me that my rear axles seals failed, blew out the bearings, and the only thing holding my wheel on was the rear brake caliper. i had to have the truck towed to nissan, and have a whole new rear axle assembly installed ($4000). there have been many complaints to nissan about these rear axles failing, starting with the seals....the service manager has seen many of these trucks come in for new rear axles. there are numerous complaints online from nissan owners as well. nissan is aware of this defect, but will not fix the problem. if i didn't pull over immediately, my wheel might have fallen off (according to the mechanic). i'm asking for someone to look into this before someone dies from this defect. thank you. | |||

| In 2005 4 months after i purchased the titan, i was involved in a minor rear end accident that dented the rear bumper. 2 months after the accident and the bumper was replaced i noticed seepage coming from the rear axle. i thought it was due to the accident and did not have the seals replaced. it was not. the leak has entered into my emergency brake system and it has never performed properly. on january 13, 2012 a loud noise from the rear end prompted me to exit the interstate where i noticed smoke and a burning oil smell coming from the axle. the bearings were replaced and i drove the truck for 20 miles and the truck broke down again. i reseached the problem on the internet and found many complaints regarding seal leaks and replacement of the axle shaft. i also found a 2010 service bulletin from nissan instructing replacement of the axle shaft and associated components. i have 200,000 miles on my truck and it has performed relatively well, but i have an issue with nissan for not addressing the issue and risking my familys' safety for 5 years before issuing a safety bulletin | |||

| Was driving our 2005 nissan titan approximatley 15 mph when the rear differential failed. we were 30 seconds from getting on a major interstate. there was a loud pop sound and the truck jerked and seemed to slip out of gear and locked up. the truck was barely driveable. our mechanic determined that it was the rear differential. when he called nissan to order the parts to rebuild it, he was told by the nissan parts distributor that because of previous problems with the differential, they only sell the entire differential part, not the individual components, the part alone was $2900. our entire bill was $3800, and ofcourse we are out of warranty. we conducted research on this issue and found 80 complaints on this nhtsa website, countless consumer complaints on various websites, and even some court cases. nissan clearly knows about this potentially life-threatening issue in the 2004 and 2005 models and has done nothing about it to protect consumers. we will be pursuing this with nissan and will be taking legal action if neccesary. not sure why nothing has been done about this especially given all the complaints out there. nhtsa should look into this issue as this defect is very dangerous and could cause a fatal accident (if it hasn't already). shame on you nissan. | |||

| I was driving my 2005 nissan titan crew cab truck. i had heard a clicking while turning a week prior but did not here it again. a few days later when almost home i turned the corner and heard a loud clanking sound in the rear of the truck. as i got right at my street the back end started to freeze up as the tires started to lock up i parked the truck on side of road. tried to move it after i look under the truck but it would not move. i had it towed to the local nissan dealer where i found out that the rear differential needs to be replaced on it at a cost of $4000.00!!!! i have looked online and seen hundreds of complaints on the same issue. nissan is telling me that they have never seen this before. i just thank god that i wass next to my house as i would have lost control / got hurt / or hurt someone else if it locked up while driving down the highway. i curently awaiting it to be fixed. not sure what to do? | |||

| I was having an issue with my engine stalling with around 97,900 miles on my 2005 nissan titan. at this time, my check engine light also came on. i took it to the dealership to get the problem code read and they said i had faulty bank 1 and bank 2 catalytic converters. the dealer said the stalling was due to a recall, nhtsa campaign id number: 10v517000. my complaint is that i had no problem with my catalytic converters until this recall issue. since my catalytic converters and exhaust manifold are one piece, it cost $2,827.28 to have them replaced and i do not feel i should have to pay this, since this problem stemmed from their recall issue. | |||

| I take very good care of my truck,have had it since it was new. was going down town, stopped at a stop sign, started to go, turn, and it made this awful loud noise in the back. when i stopped, it did it again, when i went to pull into a parking space, it acted as if it didnt want to move. i checked the wheel and they were all ok it was dark and i couldnt see under it. left there, and the noise was getting worse. went straight home which was about 6 miles. the next morning i got up and called nissan and they couldnt get it in until 5 days later, i told them there was something really wrong. got in the truck and was going to les schwab to see if they could check it. stopped to get me a coffee, backing out of the parking space, the truck acted as if it didnt want to move, sounded and felt as if the back tires were trying to lock up. i called nissan back because i needed to make appt to get service done anyway. the guy at nissan said they had a cancelation and to bring the truck in. i took the back roads, worried something might really happen if i took the freeway, so i took it slow, all the way the noise was getting worse. i got to nissan, the guy pulled it up in the bay, and it made the noise, really loud. he got out said something really wrong. the rear axle had broke inside in little pieces. $2800 to fix it. was so upset, no family to borrow a car, no money to fix it. the guy at nissan told me not to worry,would call nissan corp monday see what he could do. he agreed that the way i take care of my truck and the miles on it, shouldnt have happened. also the seals were leaking. i went on line and found several complaints about the rear axle,seals, differental breaking on the 04, 05, and 06 titans guy at nissan told me that after a few years of building titans they had to totallly rebuild the rear axle and i would have a totally different one. nissan should step up. | |||

| Ok i have a 2005 nissian titian i bought from matt gross in little rock very good guy, its a 4wd never been in the mud not once well just yesterday i pulled out to follow my freind taylor to subway when i did my whole truck jerked and made a loud pop then everytime i turned it made the same noise and when i drove to the shop with it it was bouncing my whole tailgate up and down... come to find out that my rear end burned up in my truck and was going to b about as much money to put a new engine in to get it fixed.... i have never seen a rear end go out on a truck thats practically new with only 100k miles on it... very dissapointed will not being buying another titian again ima stick with toyota | |||

| 2005 titan 4x4 truck. i had a new set of tires put on my truck. the tire shop noticed fluid leaking onto the back plate of the brake on the right rear of my truck. i took it to my mechanic and he said it was gear lube leaking out of the axle seal and contaminated the e-brake and pads for that wheel. he also had to change the bearing because it was pressed on between the seal. | |||
