2006 nissan titan 4x4 currently with 80,200 miles. left and right rear axle oil leak. at approximately 65000 miles, during a transmission oil change at a nissan dealer, mechanic noticed the passenger rear axle was leaking. the service representative stated it would be about $500.00 to repair. he also stated that no recall had been issued. after having the engine oil changed on july 2012, i noticed my driver side rear axle leaking now. several similar issues have been posted online. nissan should push the manufacture to have this hazardous issue resolved very soon and nissan should replace the seal at no cost or at a low discounted price. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan titan. i was on vacation with my wife and granddaughter this past week when i noticed the braking on my truck felt wrong. it took much further to stop than it should. it could have caused an accident. i pulled over to a rest area and noticed a burning smell coming from the rear of the vehicle. i checked the fluids and everything looked ok. i went to a garage to have it looked at. the mechanic showed me where the rear axle seals were leaking differential fluid into the brake drums on both rear wheels and spinning fluid into the wheels. they told me i need to get it over to the nissan dealer to have them look at it. i called nissan and they told me this is a common issue with titans. they consider it safe. but they tell me i need to get it fixed right away. the rear brakes have differential fluid leaking into them. which means i may even have to replace the rear brakes because they are being damaged! they also told me the rear axle could lock up causing more danger and damage. they admit this is a common issue but they will not let the owners know in writing. that is probably because they would rather the owner encure the huge expense of repairing this issue after their warranty has expired. they will not consider this a recall. i will have to spend $3000 to replace the rear axle. i am furious and disapointed that nissan will not issue a recall on this. while researching this online i see hundreds of post.why is this not being addressed? it hasn't even been five years yet since i purchased the vehicle. i am only at 85,000 miles. nissan should be ashamed of their pathetic response and refusal to fix this issue at their expense.this is a saftey issue nissan! i will never buy a nissan again if they don't resolve this issue at their expense.

2006 nissan titan. consumer states several problems with vehicle and recall issues *tgw the consumer stated the brake booster was defective and has not worked properly, since the vehicle was purchased. it would take extreme force to stop the vehicle. the fuel level sending unit, air conditioning condenser fan motor, engine control module relay, instrument panel fuel gauge all malfunctioned. also, the lower control links that attached to the chassis mounting failed.

Both rear axle seals started leaking all over my brakes and inside the wheel well causing poor breaking ability. i called the nissan dealer and they told me this is a common problem with titans and that they no longer recommend replacing just the seals but instead the whole axle. the tech (who told me he had 20 yrs with nissan) said that when they used to just replace the seals people would have to come back 6 months later because the seals would blow again. all of the posts online say that it is a result of an improper venting system that does not allow for the release of negative pressure. if this is such a common problem, and nissan knows that it is, why don't they do a full recall? this is a very dangerous problem that can cause brake failure.

I was rotating my tires and noticed gear oil on the inside of my rear wheels. the gear oil has seeped out of a failed oil seal and covered my brake pads and rotor. this oil could cause decreased braking ability and increase the liklyhood of a failed brake related accident.

Noticed a small grinding noise underneath my 2006 nissan titan le. a friend tells to check the bearings. i bring it the dealer, dealer tells me i need to replace the rear bearings and seals - $900.00. they also tell me my brakes and emergency brakes shoes are shot due to bearing fluid leaking all over them, they wanted $1600.00. replaced all the brakes myself, which were totally fine....i then notice the same grinding noise plus another under my drivers side floor. bring it back to dealer asking them why. i come to find out the front differential is shot along with the transfer case. this truck has highway miles, only driven in 4x4 for snow. how can this happen? i then proceed to look for answers on the internet and find out that there are many other titan owners with the same problems. nissan has actually changed the part numbers for the axle due to the issues that are related. the new repairs will cost between $3600-$4000 which i cannot afford at the moment. drive safe titan owners...

The vehicle had warped front rotors from day of purchase. the steering wheel shook from side to side during test drive after applying the bake at about 50 to 60 miles per. i had to take it back to nissan dealer to replace the brakes and rotors under warranty the truck had 632 miles at the time. that was in 2006. just recently i had the brakes replaced again the pads were not worn out completely but the rotors were warped at 33,673 miles. i paid another nissan dealer to have pads and rotors replaced for $600 that seem to be the minimum charge.

Right rear brake full of oil from defective axel seal. oil has leaked out of the right side of the rear axle and on to the disk brakes causing the right rear wheel to lock up when the brakes are applied. my family was forced to stop driving the truck as it will cause an accident and would cost $1200 to repair.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 nissan titan. while driving at approximately 40 mph he applied pressure to the brake pedal. the brake pedal began to pulsate very violently prior to depressing to the floor. a brake light began illuminated on the dashboard so the vehicle was pulled over and shut off. upon restart the brake pedal operated as normal and the brake light was no longer illuminating on the dashboard. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed they were aware of this type of failure but once the vehicle was shut off and restarted the braking system resets. it was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 64,700. the vin was unavailable. sm.

I have owned my 2006 titan crew cab since 2008 and have had multiple brake service requests performed for brake judder. previous solution was to turn the rotors back to true until rotors can no longer be turned and new oem rotors are acquired that will start the whole process over again. this is a temporary fix for the larger problem. brake rotor size and material selected for the 2006 nissan titan model is inadequate to provide enough surface area and venting for proper heat dissipation to prevent warpage of the oem brake rotors. this brake rotor turning service was performed 10,000 miles ago, 5,000 miles ago and the vehicle is currently in need of the same service. a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles that is driven less than 12,000 miles per year should not have had 3 brake service issues for the same manufacturers defect. my personal solution (because nissan has failed to recognize this as a defect in need of a recall) is to upgrade the oem brake hardware with aftermarket performance slotted and dimpled rotors and ceramic brake pads to provide for adequate heat dissipation and prevent rotor warpage.

Rear axle seal failure. i noticed a driver-side rear seal leak yesterday (7/29/2009). rear seal is leaking differential fluid over rear brakes causing hazard of a brake failure. the vehicle is a 2006 nissan titan king cab xe 2x4 with approximately 25000 mi. vehicle was purchased new in 2/2007 from dealer. vehicle has never towed or been off-road. this is a safety concern due to a low mileage vehicle with no abuse having a mechanical failure that could affect a safety feature such as the brakes. *tr

Bought 2006 nissan titan in november 2006. immediately had vibration in steering when i applied the brakes. dealer refused to change the rotors. i had the vehicle in 3 times. by 15000 miles, vehicle would vibrate violently when braking was applied. i had to change the front rotors and pads. at 27000 miles, the same has occurred. again, dealer would not changed the rotors. they told me had i came in earlier, they would have. this is the 3rd set of front rotors. vehicle shakes violently, and seems out of control when braking in tight turns, such as on/off ramps of highways. *tr

Left rear axle seal failed at 29,900 miles (1.5 years ago) and entire rear end/axle assembly was replaced by nissan dealership. now have driven 48,000 and the replacement axle seal on the left side (same as before) has started leaking and must be replaced. there have been no suspension modifications to this vehicle and it has never been used for towing or any type. rear differential leaks and can cause failure of rear end and possible accident from sudden stop caused by axle locking up. rear differential fluid also leaks on real brake rotors and emergency brakes and could cause brake failure. several similar incidents of this same failure can be found online and it appears to be a significant safety issue with this vehicle (2006 nissan titan). *tr

Traveled to syracuse, ny with friend son sunday 2-22-09. noticed brake noise and weak braking power. on return to home in evening, had near accident due to bad braking. took truck to nissan dealer 2-24-09. dealer said truck out of warranty (11,868 miles)had it repaired. i was told that i should have driven the vehicle more. the problem is typical of this truck due to light use. i am sure there are other vehicles on the road with dangerous braking power since the truck is nearly new. i asked nissan for a refund for the repair of $ 1116.77 which they claimed was routine maintenance. they should not wait until someone has a bad accident before this defect is corrected. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan titan. the contact experienced brake failure. he took the vehicle to a mechanic and was informed that the brakes were underrated (too small) to provide adequate stopping ability for a vehicle of that size. as a result, the brakes dug into the rotors and caused massive damage to the point that they had to be replaced along with the brakes. the dealer stated that the contact would have to pay for the brake repair because the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the failure and current mileages were 12,850.

Anti-lock brakes start during normal braking. truck must be stopped, put in park and the ignition shut off and restarted to correct braking problem. this process sometimes has to be repeated 2 times before the brakes perform correctly. nissan was notified and they said that the problem cannot be fixed and the internal computer shows no sign of the problem. *tr

Brakes - replaced 3 times within 16000 miles. would have been more or sooner if i had known how to identify the problem earlier. there are no specific events that lead to the these warranty replacements. i was reassured that my normal driving did not contribute to the problems. rear axle replacement - 15800 miles. this was also not due to my normal driving, as reassured by the nissan service station. i was literally shaken off the road. the truck had to be towed back to the service station, after they told me that the vibration i felt was probably due to some tire cupping when i had brought it in the day before. the automatic transmission was jerking and running at higher than normal rpm in idle and reverse. new transmission valve body replaced under warranty at 15800 miles also. all the brakes were replaced merely 1 week after my new transmission valve body and rear end were replaced. i had driven almost 600 miles. i am now driving a rental car, paying out of pocket because i am too scared to lose control of a car that might have a total brake failure causing harm to myself or other drivers/pedestrians. i originally bought this car new in march 2006; with 6 miles on it. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan titan. while driving 45 mph, the steering wheel began shaking when the brakes were applied. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that this was normal wear for the vehicle. however, the dealer replaced the rotors and brake pads for the front tires. the vehicle worked normally for a year after the repairs were made, but the failure eventually recurred. this temporarily remedied the issue for 15,000 miles. the contact believes that this failure should not be occurring to a three year old vehicle. the vehicle is not used everyday, so he believes the failure is due to a manufacturer defect. he attempted to have the rotors turned for a second time. currently, the rotors have to be replaced for the third time. the failure mileage was 28,000 and current mileage was 75,000. updated 5/26/09 *cn the consumer stated the rotors were turned and new pads were installed. updated 05/28/09.*jb

I purchased this vehicle on 5/29/06 from victory nissan of richmond. one week later property was stolen when a sunroof was installed. at the end of june, brakes failed and passenger air bag light started going on intermittently. also, driver seat is crooked. dealer said they bled the brakes and clutch(?). this is an automatic. also, there was nothing wrong with the passenger air bag (then why does light keep coming on and staying on?) and there is nothing wrong with the seat. last night (8/15/06) my brakes failed again. vehicle was towed to dealer this morning. i advise the service manager that these were life safety issues and should fall under the lemon law. i was advised the lemon law wasn't their problem and i would have to contact nissan usa for assistance. is it still not their concern when the faulty product they sold fails and causes loss of life??? *nm
