Defect SummaryNissan is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 titan, armada, and infiniti qx56, and model year 2008-2009 nissan quest vehicles. the brake pedal pivot pin end was not spin-formed to specification during the manufacturing process of the brake pedal assembly. the pivot pin could slide and cause the brake pedal to partially disengage from the brake pedal bracket.
Consequence SummaryThe driver will experience unusual and noticeable looseness in the pedal and a reduction in braking force increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect to see if the pivot pin had been formed properly and will replace the brake pedal assembly if necessary free of charge. the safety recall began on march 22, 2010. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2010 nissan titan. the contact stated that if the hydraulic brakes fail, the emergency brake will not stop the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told they could not correct the problem. the manufacturer stated the emergency brake is only designed keep the vehicle in secure in park, but not to stop the vehicle if the hydraulic brakes fail. the contact feels this is severe safety concern. the vin was unknown.the failure mileage and current mileage was 4000.rl

 Tl- the contact owns a 2010 nissan titan. while driving approximately 5 mph in reverse the contact heard the breaks squeaking and a squeaking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 9,000. ds
