Right rear floor pan began creaking in may 2002. upon closer inspection, the right rear floorpan was found to have a crack at least an inch in length. the sheet metal is cracked completely through such that you can see light through it. i took the vehicle to nissan west in ellicott city maryland at about 38000 miles. they told me i was out of luck since the vehicle was then out of the 3/36 warranty. since then the purchasing dealer has documented the crack and nissan has been notified. i am awaiting a response from nissan. this problem sounds like it could be the same or related to nhtsa item number 621967.*ak

I am currently recuperating from an suv rollover accident. a truck ran a red light and hit the passenger side of my 2001 nissan xterra xe. the xterra rolled over several times with the roof crushing in on me, breaking the windows out. when it stopped tumbling, it was upside down and continued sliding down the road on the roof. when the roof caved i was crushed down and my head went toward the door. my hair, which was barely shoulder length, went outside the window and was caught between the roof and the road. i was sliding upside down, at an angle, being held by my seatbelt, my hair trapped between the roof of the nissan and the road, with my hair being ripped out. when the vehicle came to rest i was trapped by my remaining hair. witnesses lifted the vehicle up off my hair to free me. this was a horrible experience that has caused me injury both physically and mentally. the link below is to our local television station's website with details of the accident. if anyone is interested in more details or photos please contact me. the television reporter contacted us and emailed pictures from the crash site. my husband also took photos at the wrecker lot with our digital camera. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/news-article.aspx?storyid=19812 if you wish to call and speak directly with me my home number is (904) 388-2476. thank you, gaye schmidt jacksonville fl *la

On june 16, 2005, my passenger torsion bar which is necessary for vehicle suspension, snapped in half. my vehicle is a 2001 nissan xterra se vin# 5n1ed28yx1c542637. i took my vehicle to get checked on same date, and was advised that part of the torsion bar was hanging down and the situation could be fatal if said bar impaled into the concrete while driving or much worse, impale itself in the back seat where my severn year old daughter sits. burdick nissan was contacted same date, and i was advised that this part will be available on june 20, 2005. on june 20, 2005, i was advised that this part is on national back order with no estimated time when it will become available. i called the national nissan hotline 1-800-nissan 1, and filed a complaint (file# 4971545) i was assured that a specialist would call me within 24-48hours. i have yet to hear from a nissan specialist even though i have called three times since then, the dates being: june24, 25, and 27. each time, i was assured that i would be contacted, to no avail. i even requested to speak to on supervisor during the last two calls, but was told none was available. i was given no feedback as to when i could obtain this part and nissan denied that this was a nationwide problem even though this part is on nationwide backorder. my local nissan dealer's parts department said they could only put me on a list but had no further recourse or information for me. that dealer is burdick nissan in cicero ny phone 3315-458-8915. in the meantime, my only vehicle is deemed to be unsafe and unfit to drive.
