| When i first bought this car the backseats were not attached to the car. the dashboard is pealing up all the way and the paint is gone from my gear shift. both driver side and passenger windows have stopped working. the driver side i had to get fixed for inspection cost about $300. tires and brakes need replaced constantly. lights on the dash light up for no apparent reason. blinkers don't work most of the time and when they do it is this horrible loud clicking noise. cd player/radio stop working randomly. ac only works on 3rd setting. rear defrost does not work at all. fog lights will not turn on and bulbs are brand new. trunk will not open with button from inside car or keyless entry. my trunk randomly comes open for no reason and once would not latch to shut for a few days but then randomly latched shut. car leaks water in the front and back. recently my car won't start everytime it rains. i took it to an auto place and they ran it through the computer and couldn't find anything. now it's at a windsheild place because the mechanic says its leaking water into fuse box. glass place is saying that is not it either. i am at my wits end. it dries out and will start and as soon as it rains will not start. i don't want to pay another mechanic to have this fixed. i see where others have complained about fuses and waters leaks. i have had it towed twice in the last 2 weeks and had $600 worth of work done on my car. i cannot afford to buy a new car. i'm very aggitated that so many people have complained about this car and nothing has been done about it. i even complained to the bbb about the dealership i bought it from to no avail. why is nothing being done? *tr | |||

| The brake rotors had to be replaced twice because the brakes wear very fast replaced brakes 4 times since i bought the car in august of 2001 even if there the lifetime warranty brakes. the drivers door window motor has to be replaced. driver window keeps coming off track causing the window to fall. the interior light fell out and had to be put back. the low tire air pressure light, and others keep coming on and staying on even if the work has been done. the back window has a wire type defrost in the window itself that has burned in once place only leaving a burned look on the back window. the cruise control went out a week after i had the vehicle which i bought the vehicle at 30, 000 miles. the passenger side view mirror shatter going the a roadway about 35 miles an hour, almost causing eye damage to a very young child if i hadn't roll the window up in time due to child being seated in the back seat in a child seat. the mirror shattered in very tiny pieces for no apparent reason. *nlm | |||

| All four of my window regulators have failed within a period of 2 months, i have replaced 3 of the four, the left rear door still has not been replaced do to the cost of parts for this car, in adition, i have had to replace the front calipers, brake pads and rotors on this vehicle 2 times within a period of 1 year, just before the last time i replaced them, my rear calipers went out, they will engage, but will stay locked, only releasing after i drive for about 20 feet or so, i have also experienced problems with the security system activating itself and not allowing me to start the car for at least 10 minutes ( the time it takes the system to recycle itself). in adddition, my door pannels coverings are all coming separated accross the top of of them, again do to the cost, i have failed to replace them. unfortunatly this happened before i knew that so many people where having problems with the oldsmobile aleros, so i did not retain the old parts. *ak | |||

| In october of 2004, i purchased a 2000 oldsmobile alero with 3,900 miles on it. the vehicle now has 39,000. in the past 3 months i have had to replace the blower motor resistor twice on this vehicle. there are numerous web sites with complaints in regards to this problem with the oldsmobile alero. on one of the sites a worker for a gm dealership stated that he has raised the issue with gm in regards to this particular problem, which is that water is leaking behind the strip at the bottom of the windshield because gm failed to use a sealant when installing this strip, and water is leaking down from the bottom of the windshield and causing the blower motor resistor to short out. i called gm and stated my case and they referred me to a dealership. i find this unacceptable. why should i have to replace a $30 part everytime my area experiences heavy rains. if your wondering where the safety issue is with this post, picture the person whose heater controls don't work but continues to drive with an iced or fogged up windshield. this will definately cause an accident!!! *nm | |||

| I purchased a 2000 oldsmobile alero in 2003, since that time i have had to replace the power window regulators on the windows 5 times, the rear passenger side window twice. i have also had to replace the drivers side window master switch within the first 45 days of purchase to be able to open the front driver and front passenger windows. the power window regulator failure causes the windows to fall into the door panel leaving me no alternative but to replace the regulator immediately when this happens, for safety reasons as well as protection from the elements. i have also had to replace the molding on the front windshield. on all occasions i took the car to the dealership to repair the parts, receipts are available however i do not have the old parts. the last time i had the window regulator replaced i expressed concern at this consistent failure, i was told by the service person since gmc changed to the cable windows there had been some problems but not enough for a recall. *tr | |||

| My car has less than 60,000 miles and i have had constant problems, some repaired, others, the dealer and other repair shops could not determine the causes. automatic windows won't work two front windows (intermittent) turn signs do not work intermittent, sometimes stop working and danger to me in traffic, air pressure light stays on and tire shop said they could not fix. this has been going on intermittently since before the warranty expired. before that i had to have a series of other repairs done at the dealer and at a repair shop because i am not financially able to afford the labor charges at the dealer. also the people at the dealers are not easy to deal with. i have all of my repair bills for further information. i have had to have several parts replaced in the wheels, the battery before warranty, the motor in the wiper fluid container, brakes, some part in the wheel before e the warranty was up. this car is a piece of junk and i believe the current problem has something to do with the electrical system not being manufactured correctly. i am driving a very unsafe car and believe the dealer will try to take advantage of me financially to try to correct it, if it can be corrected. i believe this car to be a lemon. the problems started with this auto within the first year i bought it. i don't have the exact date.*ak | |||

| The turn signals work sometimes, i was told it is a problem with the hazard switch but that has been replaced 3 times and the problem still exist. i have had six (6) window regulators replaced on my vehicle. a vehicle that has this history with turn signals is a safety hazard and your department should get more involved. the incident date is just the latest time the window has gone out. *jb | |||

| Lower intake manifold gasket failure causing leakage of coolant into the engine and onto pavement. this type of gasket failure is unacceptable at such low miles. august update: since filing the complaint, i had the intake manifold gasket replaced (along with the other gaskets, seals, and rings that are typically replaced in this procedure) by the olds dealer here in my area. this was done at mileage 51947 on 2/11/03 for my 2000 olds alero that was purchased new on 7/6/2000. as for cost, i was able to do some negotiating with the service manager. about one month earlier, i had taken the car in to get the drivers side window repaired. it had fallen out of track (for the second time), and i raised the issue that this was unacceptable, and that their competitor cars do not do this (non gm vehicles). having negotiated a low price on this window repair, the service manager remembered me for the intake manifold repair. i raised a number of issues and facts surrounding the intake manifold gasket and was able to get the entire repair done for $276.75, along with an oil change and serpentine belt replacement, included. i have not noticed and problems with coolant leakage since the repair was preformed. another concern that i have is, since my repair was done in february 2003, but the service bulletin is dated march 2003, were old parts used in my repair and will this happen again? | |||

| I am on my third pair of brake pads and rotors. the last time this was corrected was in nov. 2002. the initial set that came on the car was supposedly "bad" and replaced nov. 2000. i got the car in aug. 2000. problem was reported to dealer oct. 2002 as well. never could identify problem. grinding light and noises under hood that were finally identified as the brakes taken in again in jan. 01. the "other" consists of a new alternator in nov. 2002 as well as new tires in july 2002. i had to purchase two while gm gave me 2. locks were messed up again april 02. faulty window regulator in sept. 01. i have documentation of all of the invoices/printouts from the dealer as well as my maintenance papers. | |||

| This is the third brake job , got car with 30,000 miles had it two years - have replaced both wheel bearings--car now has 55,000 miles. have replaced drivers side window control switch and now its in for the door latch failure. ever driven 30 miles to get to a dealer with your door bungie corded shut if that is not a safety problem what is ?? that is the drivers door by the way. i have most definitely lost faith in gm. my next vehicle may very well be a hyundai accent, they have only one page of problems and they provide a warranty. *jb | |||

| I have a 2000 alero (64025 miles). my mechanic said that i need to replace the intake gasket, a cost of $600.00 to fix. he told me that he has replaced many of these mostly in aleros between the years of 2000-2003. this is not the only problem i am having with my car. the motor for the window on the drivers side has been broken for about 1 yr. the oldsmobile dealership gave me a quote of just under $400.00 to repair it. not to mention that i have had the rotors and brakes replace all the way around the car (about 1 yr ago) and about every 3-5 months i have to go in and have the rotors turned. it cost me close to $800.00 to have the brake and rotors replace and the turning of the rotors are under warranty...but i have to take time to do this and it is very inconvenient. not to mention the car is only 3 years old...oldsmobile should take care of all of these problems. this is costing their customers time and money!*ak | |||

| Front driver side power window regulator failed. window will not roll up or down. rear seat does not clasp into proper harness - i too kit to russ darrow and they said a seat is cosmetic, and it is as fixed as it is going to get.. turn signals do not work 70% of the time. the lighter was pushed into the main jack to be used, the lighter never popped out properly. as a result both jacks are inoperable. rotors were replaced at 37,000 but there is still very loud wobbling noises and tire noise. dealer suggests new tires, the tread is fine on the current tires. new tires will only mask the noises. | |||

| I have been having brake problems for the last year and a half. the brakes pulsate under any braking conditions ,but at speeds above 50 mph it is extremly bad. the dealer has attempted to fix the problem on six occasions with no success. the first brake replacement they replaced both front rotors and pads. that lasted for about 10,000 miles before needing another repair. after that repair the rotors were resurfaced, which then caused the brakes not only to pulsate but to also make a grinding or moaning noise while stopping. we are now on repair number six and still the problem is not fixed. after speaking with a representative from general motors and being told that brakes are not a safety concern i am worried about the safety of any gm vehicle. something needs to be done about the defect of these brakes before someone is injured or killed because gm can't admit fault. driver side power window has stopped working on two occasions the first being on 12/10/2001 then again on 02/06/2002. on both occasions the motor had to be replaced. no further problems with this as of yet.*ak | |||

| The driver's side view mirror has vibrated on the vehicle since the day i bought it. i took it at the first oil change and asked them to fix it. they told me that was a known problem with the 2 door alero and there was nothing they could do. the problem was so bad that i could not use the mirror at highway speeds as vehicles would come in and out of view. i eventually contacted oldsmobile about the issue. it turns out their policy is to contact the dealership to confirm the problem (a lot of good that does). i consistentantly compained when i went in for service and evetually there was a service bulletin and they performed the fix. the fix did nothing so there was nothing else they could do. i intermitantly complained and they eventually replaced the mirror assembly which worked for a few weeks. now, last sunday, on the way back from mt.pleasant the mirror vibrated so bad that what was in the bottom of the mirror one second was in the top the next. when i got up the next morning the mirror was laying on the garage floor as it had fallen off. i called the dealership and took it in. they told me they would only continue to cover the mirror until the manufacturer warranty runs out and my extended warranty i purchased would not cover it. i feel that if it a manufacturing defect it should be covered for life. and, to top it off, they had me take the car, without a mirror home until they could get a mirror (i thought it was illegal to drive without a mirror). i expected a loaner car for my safety. this is getting quite annoying that i have what was a brand new car and have had to put up with this safetyhjazzard for almost two years and there is nothing they can do and they were aware of the problem; therefore, knowingly putting me at risk. what are my options? what can i do? now i have to pay for any repairs or put up with it until my lease expires as i cannot afford to buy out my lease early. alan. nlm | |||

| We have been told this is a design defect. the mirror vibrates so much you can hardly see out of it. the vibration has also caused the mirror to fall off twice. we have called the manufacturer on this problem several times. at first we were told it would work itself out in about 700 miles then we were told they were reseaching it. this all began 1 1/2 years ago. i think if side mirrors are required on vehicles this would be considered a saftey issue and could be a cause of a accident.*ak | |||
