Locks would lock and unlock on own. the last time they did it, they quit working in their intirely. the seat controls and horn also quite working the last time the locks acted up. have tried to replace breaker in fuse panel, but get spark when trying to insert breaker or any other fuses in panel. / the brakes have failed 2 times. vehical was traveling at 10 - 15 mph going down a small grade. when pressed on brake, pedal would go to floor and make loud noise under hood. after rolling an excessive distance, the brakes would start working again and come to a stop. i have called the manufacturer on this to find out if there has been any recalls or complaints. i was told there has not been any.

Uncontrolled vehicle acceleration at about 45mph. gas pedal/throttle felt like it was at approximately half travel and brake pedal was extremely stiff and unresponsive with severely reduced brake effectiveness. problem cleared up within about 10 seconds with return of normal throttle control and brake effectiveness and brake pedal feel. cruise control was turned completely off during this time.*ak

Have had several incidents with mushy brakes, but service people at rainbow told me it was typical gmc anti-lock brakes. when you hit a bump and brake at the same time, the brake pedal goes to the floor and can hear and feel a vibration through the pedal. also, read your article on the internetdated 7/23/99 about gm to recall 3.5 million vehicles because of problems with the anti-lock brake system. after three major brake jobs, the only thing the mechanical people at firestone and geg's auto repairs could say was, typical of the gmc anti-lock braking system. hve contacted gmc sharon noim in tampa on 7/23/99 and said the only thing she sees is a recall 96067 that had nothing to do with the brakes. call back on 8/6/99 and spoke with a sharronda, she said she has seen nothing yet about the brake recall. called mike in the srevice dept. at rainbow olds in harvey, la where the suv was purchased, he said he has seen nothing or heard anything about a recall on any gmc vehicle. i explained my predicament to him. he said he would check into it and return my call. never did. call gmc again on 12/6/00 in tampa and spoke with shantalet dallas, who must have a a bad day, she said she hadn't seen anything about a recall on the abs brakes. called back to get someone with a better attitude and spoke with virginia beaty. said there is a recall on for my vehicle 96067 for the linear egr valve, that she said was still open. i never received a recall letter on it. she set up a new file for me co2463907, and said she would be back with me. she called several days later and left a message on my voice mail, 12/11/00, stating that there were no present recalls or campaigns on my vehicle and recommended i bring it into the dealer to have it analyzed. i saved her message for reference. i feel i have gone through all the processes to correct this problem and have not been satisfied. no one seems too know of the recall on the internet, because tie has expired on the article.
In certain weather conditions the abs malfunctions and results in greatly extended stopping distances. (ie. a stop from approximately 5-10 mph required in excess of 20 ft. when the abs malfunctions the brake pedal travels to the floor, one wheel locks and skids, with what appears to be no braking at the other three wheels.*ak

Abs brake problems; while driving on regular road conditions, during normal braking, applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. at the same time the abs warning light came on and the bravada slowed down some, but not like it would normally. the master cylinder and proportional valve were replaced at 49,000 miles in jan of 97. the van is experiencing very poor braking again. the brakes pads and rotors were just recently replaced at 58600 miles. *ak consumer states that the brakes often go to the floor even though the master cylinder and porportional valve were replaced. *slc
