2002 olds bravada (which we have owned since 9/2004) was being driven by my teenage son (with 3 other kids in the vehicle), as he left a stop sign, the frame of the vehicle broke loose from the body, separating the control arms from the frame and dropping the rear of the vehicle. he was traveling approximately 20mph at the time of incident. he managed to get to the side of the road where the vehicle came to rest in a ditch, a semi-safe distance from traffic. the vehicle was towed 11/10/12am to a nearby gm dealership. the estimated cost of repair begins at nearly $7000., which would exceed the vehicles value. the gm dealership, to which the vehicle was towed, has advised us not to repair the vehicle as it would be too extensive. to further that statement, the gm dealership has discouraged us to even obtain a full and accurate quote as this would take too much time for a vehicle that should never see the road again, agreeably. to quote both the tow truck driver and the general service manager of the gm dealership; they have never seen a vehicle with an issue such as this. repeated attempts to report this to gm have failed. in efforts to minimize personal opinions from this post, i will only say this is utterly unacceptable on the part of gm, and a safety hazard to unsuspecting customers. *tr

This bravada had been recalled and the part replaced. while exiting a parking lot at slow speed the steering failed, car fell to the right and into a telephone pole causing extensive damage. the part that failed was the part that was replaced during recall. gm, after investigating, is claiming no responsibility for this incident. fortunately no one was killed at a higher speed. something must be done to prevent anyone with this type of vehicle from being injured or killed. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 oldsmobile bravada. the contact stated that the shock system failed and the vehicle would bounce around similar to a bouncing baby. the airspring on the vehicle would continue to crack. the dealer stated that the repairs would cost over $1,000. the dealer also stated that the previous owner had repairs made to the shocks and springs. no additional repairs have been made to the vehicle. the failure and current mileages were less than 162,433.

Airbag suspension releases air unevenly as you are driving, causing the vehicle to swerve back and forth, feeling like it is going to flip. the airbags should not release air at all while you are driving. my vehicle is unsafe to drive over 30 mph. and sometimes upon starting the vehicle, they won't air up at all, sometimes for days at a time, or one side airs up and the other doesn't. *tr

On 12/11/02, i was driving my 2002 oldsmobile bravada in rush hour traffic and was traveling in the passing lane going at a speed of 70 mph when my speedometer dropped to 30 mph and my brake pedal was to the floor of the vehicle. unable to accelerate. the dashboard displayed : service brake system and contact onstar displayed also. i, somehow, merged to the right lane of the expressway and at this time, my brakes were still to the floor and the speedometer was continuing to decline. steering was difficult. i was able to get off the road, but the car stopped itself without me applying brakes. i put my car in park and the car at this time was stalled. i tried to restart the vehicle but was unable due to the car being dead. i contacted the gm roadside assistance toll-free # to notify them of my problem and they supplied me with a # to refer to in case a tow vehicle did not arrive. approximately, 30 minutes later a tow truck arrived and my vehicle was towed to yark oldsmobile. i spoke with the service manager- anthony and he documented my concerns and told me that my car would be serviced and they would let me know what the issue was. i also told him the other problems with this vehicle included: rear suspension defect 7/2001, loss of brakes in 8/2001, car failing to start and needing towed or jumped 3 times since 8/2001. on 12/12, the service dept contacted me and told me that there were several fault codes...one being a faulty speed sensor. they pulled several codes: c0236-circuit failure vss and c0237- a communication error. i told service that i also had several issues with the electrical system and jim stated they would look inot it but it is hard to find an electrical problem because it is such a big system. i was instructed that my car was able to be picked up on 12/13/02. i did so at that time, but i am not satisfied and do not feel safe in my vehicle. yark is aware of above.

On june 9, 2001 i bought/leased a new 2002 bravada. since this time i have had my vehicle in the shop for service. the first time was on june 17 (just 8 days after i bought my new vehicle). the car had just 200 miles on it. i went out to my vehicle and the rear of my vehicle was sitting about 4 inches from the ground . when attempting to drive the vehicle, the vehicle was bouncing and the rear passengers were sitting totally reclined. when i took the car into the service center, i was told that this was a defective rear suspension and they would have my car for 3 weeks. after multiple trips to the service center and the dealer i was told that gm shipped the part needed overnight since i was so upset (the salesman that sold me the car told me this). needless to say, i received another call from the service department who told me that (after 3 days ) my car was ready we robbed a part from another 2002 bravada on the lot. i then on 7/31/01, parked my car on my driveway (incline) and then placed my emergency brake on. a few hours later i came out, started my car, took the emergency brake off, put my foot on the brake and put the vehicle into drive. at that time i went to put my foot on the gas and my car rolled backwards out of my driveway, into the street and into my neighbor's driveway. i put my foot on the brake but did not stop, i had to pull the emergency brake. i once again tried to put the car into drive and apply my brakes, but was unable to. i used my emergency brake once again. i took the car into the service department and they have had my vehicle since friday, 8/3/01. they state that it is no longer doing this, however they are awaiting a call back from gm to see if there has been any other reports of this problem with the 2002 bravada. i have a major concern that in only less than 8 weeks that i have had this new car, i have had 2 safety issues with it. thanks!*ak
