Rear brakes do not perform like they are intended which makes this vehicle unsafe at speeds as slow as 25 mph. when the driver is forced to slam on the brakes or make a sudden stop, the driver, as well as the passengers, can feel the rear tires drag/slip and the brakes make a grinding/vibrating noise. worse yet, the distance that it takes the car to stop it much too long compared to other vehicles in its class with abs. the feeling that the car is not going to stop in time, coupled with the sensation that your rears tires are slipping, is a very scary experience. both the dealer and oldsmobile have been notified, and although they acknowledge the problem, they say there is nothing that can be done and that oldsmobile's are just designed like that. *ak

2000 oldsmobile intrigue. consumer states problem with check engine light and a.i.r. pump *tgw the consumer stated the air conditioner failed and was blowing out hot air on the passenger side and cold air on the drivers' side. the wheels were no good. the plating on the inside would come off and create problems for the tires sealing properly, therefore an uneven wear occurred. the consumer also stated he began to have steering problems, there were several lights coming on the dash and going off, but the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. the consumer began to investigate and discovered the part that was causing the lights to illuminate was the hydraulic brake modulator which cost $1,000. the transmission would shift hard at times and sometimes whine while driving. the turn signals did not always work or they would shut off while blinking. when the cruise control was activated, and the turn signal or head lights were activated the cruise control would deactivate by itself. the rear passenger window stopped working and the sway bar was cracked. also, the gas pedal would stick at times. the heated seats were too cool on low and too hot on high. *jb
