Defect SummaryKalmar is recalling 612 my 1997-1007 ottawa 30, 50, and 60 dot/epa terminal tractors equipped with suspensioned rear axles or otto-ride rear suspensions for failing to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 106, 'brake hoses.' the air brake hose assembly was incorrectly manufactured.
Consequence SummaryIf a failure occurred in the air line installed on the spring brake side of the brake chamber, the spring brakes would apply. sudden application of the spring brake while traveling could lead to a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the hose. the recall began on october 22, 2008. owners may contact kalmar at 1-785-229-6327.

Defect SummaryOn certain terminal tractors, the heater/air-conditioning (ac) duct under the dash was not properly routed or secured. chaffing may occur exposing the steel spiral reinforcement.
Consequence SummaryIf this reinforcement is contacted with an electrical power connector, such as the power stud on the firewall, it may cause an electrical short resulting in a spark and potential fire.
Corrective SummaryOwners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect their vehicle for the presence of the defective heater/ac hose duct. if after inspection, the vehicle is determined to have an improper heater/ac hose, kalmar will send a replacement heater/ac hose. the recall began on february 11, 2008. owners may contact kalmar at 1-786-229-6327.
