We own a 2005 pilgrim travel trailer. we bought it brand new from a local dealership. our travel trailer has been to the service department at least three times due to electric serge and air conditioner not working properly. we never rec'd a recall notice on our travel trailer. we were looking up recall information on our chevy tahoe and decide to look up recall info on our other items we own. our camper had a recall on the refrigerator. we called the service department the next day after learning about the recall. they stated it will take about a week or so to receive the part and they will call. i never rec'd a call from them. we removed the propane tanks from the camper one to one half weeks from august 27,2008. we never use the camper hardly at all. we bought this camper for my husband in aug. of 2005 when he was working out of town and could stay in it instead of a hotel were we would spend 300 to 600 a month to stay in. we thought buying a camper is a better deal in the long run. we would have something to camp in and i could visit him anytime with our animals. around the fall of 2006 my husband was done working out of town and we brought the camper back home and placed in a parking area made for it beside our building. we have only camp in it once in the spring of 2007. the rest of the time it is parked and only used at the end of september when my brother n law uses it for a fund raiser for log a load for kids in our local area festival once a year. i decide to go out on august 27,2008 and turn on the air conditioner and refrigerator so i could clean it out before we sent it for repairs and my brother n law could use it. i left that morning around 8 o'clock eastern time and when i returned home around 9:15 am. i was greeted by fire department's in my driveway and a total loss to our camper and items in the building beside the camper. we have learned from our insurance company and cause and original person there has been a recall out for three years and never fixed. *tr

This unit has a dometic brand refrigerator-model rm2852,serial#42500981. there is a recall on this refrigerator and dometic wants to just install a part on the boiler that will keep a fire from spreading into the camper should a fire occur. the main problem is the refrigerator can develop a crack in the boiler, which ours did, and ammonia leaks out. dometic told us that since our refrigerator already cracked we have to replace the refrigerator at our cost and then they will install the patch. dometic should replace the refrigerator as it is a problem that they already knew about and issued the recall. they should not just patch the problem, they should install a new refrigerator. we were never notified about the recall. we found out about it after our refrigerator boiler cracked and looked up the problem on-line.
