| Defect Summary | Certain tigas fuel pump modules manufactured between june 1 and september 24, 2006, sold under various brand names and p/nos. these fuel pump modules are sold as aftermarket for use in certain daimlerchrysler vehicles listed above. silicone material used in manufacture of the flapper valve was out-of-specification, leading to excess swell of the flapper valve restricting the flow of fuel to the fuel pump module. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2000 plymouth breeze. while the contact's husband was driving 60 mph, the vehicle would no longer drive. the vehicle idled and he pulled to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the contact's husband (a mechanic) stated that the failure was with the fuel pressure. the dealer informed the contact that if she could not provide a receipt for the fuel pump recall repair (nhtsa campaign id number 06e088000: fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump) that was performed in 2006, they could not assist. the purchase date was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 92,000. | |||

| Car stalled several times, found out it was the fuel pump, mechanic showed me the fuel pump and the wiring on it had actually burned, this could have resulted in a fire because the fuel pump is in the tank. *jb | |||

| My husband was driving down the street to school. he made it maybe 2-21/2 blocks down the road when he says he heard a little noise and the car stopped accelerating properly. other vehicles began blowing thier horn at him and he had to stop the car, while sitting in the car he saw flames start coming out from under the hood. the engine caught on fire, no one seems to know why. the fire got pretty out of control, and the fire department put it out. our car is destroyed. we have no idea why the engine caught on fire. it was suggested to us that there could have been a manufacturing problem, and maybe our car could have even been recalled. we are trying to find out every thing possible about what could have happened yesterday morning. | |||
