Vehicle is garage kept, and well maintained. original tires with light to moderate treadwear. on clear dry well maintained toll road while on cruise control at 70 mph, the front left tire sidewall completely blew out. my wife (the driver) was fortunately able to keep the vehicle under control and make it to the shoulder. this could have been disastrous if she had not kept her head and not slammed on brakes or panicked and oversteered. we felt it necessary to replace the entire set of tires, even though the remaining tire's treadware seemed fine. we saved the pieces of the tire that blew, took digital pictures, and video. i question safety of the tire and large mini-van matchup. hopefully, should this happen to anyone else, they too are fortunate, as was my wife. *ak (tiresize: p215/65r15)( dot number: tire size: p215/65r15 )

I noticed a small split on the outboard sidewall of the left front tire. even though the tires had adequate tread remaining, i decided to have it checked out. one other tire had a slow leak, and based on prices, i decided to replace all four tires. after the installation of the new tires, the service manager commented that i must have someone looking out for me. i asked what he meant and he took me out into the service bay to show me the tires. three of the four had splits between the sidewall and tread measuring 13 inches or more. two of the tires had multiple splits. all three tires had the longest splits on the inboard side of the tires (only one had a small split on the outboard sidewall) and thus the worst problems had not been visible fom outside the van. because of the slow leak in one tire i had been keeping close tabs on the air pressure to keep it within range for all four, but for some reason the tires had inordinate wear on the outside edges only. i didn't keep any of the tires, but after the recent news regarding a possible recall of some goodyear tires , i felt i should report it. i don't know if this is one of the tires possibly being considered for a recall, but someone should look into these tires. the service manager indicated that one or more would likely have lost tread within two hundred miles. i feel very lucky. *ak (tiresize: p21565r15)( dot number: tire size: p21565r15 )

TIRES - TREAD/BELT

Complete belt separation without tire deflation...belts flew off leaving $1,348 worth of damage to vehicle....tires were inspected prior to leaving on vacation from florida to wisconsin...belt separation took place outside of maquoketa, iowa. this tire should not have separated in such manner....fortunately my family was not harmed by this incident, other than financially. upon contacting michelin discovered the company was not interested in this problem. hopefully this information will possibly prevent this type of problem happening to others....thank you for your time....james e. vertz. *ak (dot number: m3t2472x32 tiresize: p215/65r15)
