Two weeks ago i noticed my air bag light was staying on. we also found out that the horn and the cruise control stopped working. we have checked all the fuses and found out through the my car stats web site this same problem was part of a recall involving a clock spring problem. since no dealer in my area will honor this recall it is still broken.*ak

I have been told that the clock spring has been a high maintance item. this device controls the air bag, horn and cruse control. i consider this to be a safety issue and would like to find out if or has this been addressed by the manufacture or nhtsa . thank you ed bradley. dt

The horn on the van was intermittent from nearly the first use. we rarely use it an did not remember to inquire about it over a period of several years whenever we were at the dealership for service. finally, one time we asked about it and were told that we had a faulty sop module and that it was likely that the driver-side airbag wouldn't function. we wrote to daimler-chrysler and they responded that they wouldn't cover the replacement. seems ludicrous that a safety device on a new vehicle could be rendered useless and the manufacturer wouldn't step-up to replace it.*ak

This clockspring assembly failed over a period of time, begining in about 2000 with the cruise control failure. this was followed by the airbag failure, as manifested by the airbag check lamp remaining on. finally, the horn failed to work. i subsequently replaced the clockspring assembly this month, which repaired all the above problems. i have the defective clockspring, and am willing send it to you for analysis if you so desire. *ak
