Tl*the contact owns a 2000 plymouth grand voyager. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle began to overheat and the power steering failed several times. the vehicle was pulled over and the serpentine belt had to be replaced each time. there were no recalls for this failure. the current mileage was 122,000 and failure mileage was 90,000. updated 03/26/08. *lj the consumer stated he replaced the tensioner belt and the idler pulley.

Everytime it rains and i run over a puddle, the belt comes off and the van becomes not drivable. i can't turn the wheel and the warning lights starts to flash and the van goes dead. i have to pay $50 {not including towing} to get it fixed everytime. i don't understand how it isn't a defect. it will just stop in the middle of the street or freeway after a few seconds. it's very costly and how could something like this be overlooked? i get scared everytime it rains. *tr

On two occasions the serpentine belt slipped off their pulleys while driving, which left my car without power steering, brakes, cooling, a/c, or alternator. i had to stop and have the car towed in. dealer could not provide a preventative repair to keep the belt from slipping off again. finally, gates had a kit in feb. 2007 that i had installed that is supposed to cure this problem. this is an epidemic problem for this vehicle. *jb

This 2000 plymouth grand voyager has repeated failure of power steering due to the serpentine belt slipping off (mainly during rainy days). on the first occasion, the shop replaced the belt and splash guard. the second time, the shop replaced the belt tensioner. the third time, the shop replaced the harmonic balancer pulley. the fourth time, the shop put the belt back on the van, but could not find anything else wrong with the belt or pulleys. loss of power steering is dangerous! (besides, we did not get this car only for driving on sunny days.) *jb

My wife was driving our 2000 ply.grand voyager, she heard a loud noise, steering was extremely difficult for her.she got it parked.when i arrived i found the belt tensioner had fallen off,the mounting bolt had sheared off.upon that happening it broke the plastic power steering pulley.obviously this design and part are not up to standard.this part should be made better,3 years for a tensioner is not enough considering everything is run off of this belt, loss of power steering being a safety concern.*ak

While driving the bolt that holds the serpentine belt tentioning pulley shears off causing it to spring into the engine compartment. this causes lack of power steering, increased pressure needed for braking. this part may break fuel lines brake lines or struts, it may also lead to motor damage. my mechanic said that the bolt shears off periodicly with no warning even though chyrsler company has no tsb for this part. *ak

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 25 mph, the vehicle would not respond when the accelerator was depressed. the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, who determined the transmission and catalytic converter need to be replaced.
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - EXHAUST SYSTEM - MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE

Crossover pipe connecting manifold to exhaust developed a hole back in august 2004. part was ordered from chrysler dealer end of august, have not received it yet. *bf the consumer was told that there were 1300 crossover pipes on back order and chrysler was redesigning the part. the consumer wanted to know if there was any danger of exhaust fumes coming into the vehicle while driving or idling. the consumer would like to know if there should be a recall since there appears to be an inordinate number of parts on back order. *tc
