2005 pontiac g6 - water pours from the interior lights splashing the inside of the car and driver which is as unexpected as a child running in front of a vehicle. the sudden downpour may cause the driver to loose control of the vehicle when they look up to see where the water is coming from.. nobody was injured in my incident however, the water is coming from the drain tubes from the top of the car which have a tendancy to become disconnected. i am told this is not considered a safety hazard but a driver does not expect to be suddenly soaked by water when driving a car and can cause the driver to become reckless which may cause damage or injury to a vehicle or a person if it has not already. this is a common problem and needs to seriously considered as a safety hazard. other than the safety hazard that it is, it also causes the interior of the car to be completely destroyed from mold and/or mildew needing complete replacement. the dealers are very much aware of the problem but yet i have taken my car in twice and because it wasn't leaking at the time, the could not see a problem. mind you the back floorboard and seat were completely soaked from 8 gallons of water which had been sucked out of the car prior to driving it to the dealership.

I took a lease over of a 2005 g6 less than a year ago. i have had nothing but problems with it from the very beginning. a lot of times it doesn't start just sputters repeatedly. took it in to get it checked out of course they say they can't find anything wrong. right after we got the car we had to have the brakes replaced and also there was a clunking noise. had to have both right and left front struts replaced. clunking noise still had not gone away, everytime i take it in i complain of the clunking and eachtime they say it is due to something else that needs to be replaced. have had a pulsation problem when brakes applied. power steering went on it quite a few times, had it replaced and has done it since. the rearview mirror snapped right off when being adjusted. visor cover snapped off. door lock knob snapped off. most of the work we have had done was covered by warranty. the warranty is now up and the right ball bearing now needs to be replaced which is why i hear clunking is what i was told. how come it is always something different causing the clunking noise? is going to cost around $500 to fix. what a piece of junk. we will never buy another north american made piece of jun again!!! *tr

On our 2005 pontiac gt 6, during most daylight driving conditions, the instrument panel is so difficult to read that, at times, it is impossible to tell how fast one is traveling. sometimes, it takes a second or more to make it out. rarely, it is easily readable. we think that the extra time needed to discern one's speed, if it can be determined at all, could easily lead to an accident. the gas gauge and coolant temperature gauges are even more difficult to make out, but that does not represent as serious a problem as failing to be able to read one's speed. if the ability existed to turn on the instrument panel lighting, the problem would be eliminated. *nm

I own a 2005 pontiac g-6 with about 60,000 miles . bought the car used and have only put about 10,000 miles on it. it has a panoramic sunroof that was working fine for about 6 months and all of a sudden gets stuck . my first panel is open.. wants to work but looks out of line with the other panels. took it to the dealership and they say that it is coming apart and they have to replace it . i don't have an ext warranty so im quoted $1,400 to replace the whole thing. went to another place they say that same thing, i have to replace it. i am about to get this thing fixed for about $ 800 or so for a used one. just recently i spent $700.00 replacing my steering column due to power steering failure. i have had the car for less than 1 yr and i have had problem after problem with it ! i hate this car and plan on trading it in soon.... *tr

Too many complaints to write them all up, here are a few: engine makes metal grinding whooshing noise independent from acceleration-dealer cannot replicate, warped rotors-dealer wanted over $1,000 to fix, have had radio replaced 5 times due to disc errors-dealer keeps replacing, had steering rack and water pump replaced at 30,000 miles-dealer covered, sensor that turns on lights went-dealer replaced, power steering problems, hard to turn and rough, but no lock-ups like others have had(thankfully)-dealer cannot replicate, had drivers side front panel sunroof drain clog, water soaked front carpet(3 inches of water)-dealer fixed but left me with a moldy carpet!, engine flutters/stutters to a start on random-dealer has no answer for me, trunk lid was scraping rear bumper due to latches being tightened wrong-dealer fixed, headlamp full of condensation-dealer fixed, car ridiculously bad in the rain and snow, stability control makes loud grinding noises and causes the car to buck, replaced tires with snow tires, still bad-dealer has no answer for me, large deep scratch across windshield right in the line of view from contour oem windshield wipers, dealer said too bad. those are just a few, i cant remember them all, this car is such a lemon. im sticking with toyota from now on! i learned my lesson! *tr

2005 pontiac g6 gt: within the first year of ownership, we had the vehicle into the dealership twice for a leaking panoramic roof. the second time it leaked, the dash shorted out. then at about 36,000 miles we started hearing popping noises when steering at low speeds. at around 42,000 miles the popping noises got significantly worse. it was at this point, we decided to take the vehicle back to the dealership for service. the man at the service desk seemed to know right away what was wrong with the vehicle without even diagnosing it. he told us that he had seen this problem in a lot of g6s. i asked him if it was something to worry about and he said no. he told me it would cost $550 to fix it and that the cost would be on me as i was out of warranty on mileage. after i returned home i decided to do some surfing on the internet to see if anyone else was experiencing g6 steering issues. i found page after page of people experiencing similar steering issues. in fact, i noticed that the nhtsa was even investigating gm for g6 power steering failure affecting some 176k vehicles. frankly, this scared me to death! so much so, that the very next day i went down to the local honda dealership and traded in the g6 for a 2008 honda accord ex-l (5-star rating). i took it in the shorts on the trade-in, but i cannot tell you how happy i am to get rid of this nightmare! parting question: since when is ?power steering failure? not worthy of a recall. shame on gm! *tr

Open rear window or windows at speed of 40 mph and above creates a safety problem as the noise from the rear of the car becomes so intense that you either have to close the window or stop the car. the noise sounds like a rotar on a helicopter and the faster you go over 40 the louder it becomes and your hearing becomes so bad you must stop or put window back up. ir reported this to gm and they told me its the nature of the beast totally unacceptable answer. *ak

The seal on my panoramic roof leaked during a torrential downpour. i did not drive the car for a few days because of having surgery. 2 days after the rain storm when i opened my car i found an inch of water covering the floor and mold covering most of the interior. mold was also located inside the air conditioning system when turned on. the heated seats were ruined as were any electrical devices inside the car. all personal items and infant seat were also ruined. i am still waiting to hear what is going to be done. they are trying to convince me it can be cleaned, but with the amount of mold and my existing asthma it is a detriment to my health to be inside the vehicle. i also have an infant which cannot come into the vehicle at all because of said mold. i still don't know after contacting gm if they will fix the problem or if i need to scrap the car. this is the second problem i have had, however the first involved the brake rotors grinding too quickly and causing the car to shake violently when braking at any speed. i have had to have the brakes done at least every 3 months to correct the problem for the past 2 and a half years. *tr

 1) driving my pontiac g6 onto a regular driveway slope 2) forward metal impingements (only driver side affected) attached to the chassis was bent back due to the i-beam structure catching the concrete driveway slope. consequence of design failure caused the entire engine cradle to shift and there by allowing for an increase in damage possibilities to engine block and radiator to occur. also with i-beam structure being bent downward it has created a hanging piece of metal to possibly catch road debris (could lead to tire failure) and allow slope changes in the road to once again catch the bent metal to create even more damage. 3) the dealership suggested replacing to the whole engine cradle. i suggest that gm should attach a metal bar horizontally to the two front metal impingements to effectively create a grind bar, greatly reducing the possibilities of metal bending causing a road hazard and engine cradle replacement.
