I purchased a pontiac g6 from a dealer in palmdale, ca in 2004. problems have been as follows: 1. won't hold alignment - pulls to left - in shop 12/14/05. 2. new tires @20,998 miles due to alignment problems. 3. won't hold alignment - pulls to left - in shop 3/27/07. 4. won't hold alignment - pulls to left - in shop 11/02/07 5. won't hold alignment - pulls to left - in shop 9/05/08 6. new tires @ 41,753 miles due to alignment problems- 4/24/09 7. new rotors, drums and brakes - 4/24/09 8. alignment - pulls to left - swapped front tires - 8/02/09 8. alignment and new rear brakes - 8/29/09 9. alignment - pulls to left - in shop 9/15/09 the list of parts & labor have been extensive and i am on my 3rd set of tires and currently only have 48k on my car. the tires only lasted for 20k miles!!! i've had a total of 6 alignments and countless rotations and nothing works. i have also been through 2 sets of brakes and rotors in this time period as well. when i blogged about this issue there are a lot of other folks having the same problems with this make and model. i contacted the bbb auto line and they said my complaint is not within their jurisdiction. i contacted pontiac / gmc and they said they can not help me. the car is dangerous to drive and hopefully it won't take an accident for someone to realize that the car is a lemon and unsafe. *tr

3 incidents of car skidding, sliding and doing a 360 when driving in the snow. 1st time, thought it needed new tires. 2nd time had gotten new tires, but thought it needed a slight alignment. both incidents occurring while turning. 3rd incident, had gotten tires and alignment and driving slowly down a straight path when slid into the other lane with me having no control, thankfully no cars were coming, but did a complete 360 turn. *tr

2005 pontiac g6 has problems with the brake lights, brake pads, and rotors. *nj the day after purchasing the vehicle, the consumer had to take it back to get an alignment and have the rotors replaced. in june 2008, the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer because the brakes were making a noise. the dealer was unable to duplicate the issue. two weeks later, the front pads had to be replaced because they were worn. the sunroof had to be repaired due to a rattling noise it was making. after the sunroof was repaired, it began to make a different noise. a technician determined a pipe had ruptured. the brake lights were on when the vehicle was in drive. the consumer then received a recall letter in the mail regarding the defective brake lights after already paying for a sensor that didn't resolve the issue. *jb

Dt: ] this vehicle is a new 2005 pontiac g6. while driving at 45 mph and up with back rear windows down there was pounding vibration, it was assumed to be air that filled the vehicle. took vehicle to dealer, who had no remedy for the problem. dealer contacted the manufacturer and they did not have a remedy either. dealer duplicated the problem. also, tested other pontiac 2005 g6 that had a similar problem, as well as the 2006 model. no repairs were made, but consumer felt this was a safety issue. *ak

Too many complaints to write them all up, here are a few: engine makes metal grinding whooshing noise independent from acceleration-dealer cannot replicate, warped rotors-dealer wanted over $1,000 to fix, have had radio replaced 5 times due to disc errors-dealer keeps replacing, had steering rack and water pump replaced at 30,000 miles-dealer covered, sensor that turns on lights went-dealer replaced, power steering problems, hard to turn and rough, but no lock-ups like others have had(thankfully)-dealer cannot replicate, had drivers side front panel sunroof drain clog, water soaked front carpet(3 inches of water)-dealer fixed but left me with a moldy carpet!, engine flutters/stutters to a start on random-dealer has no answer for me, trunk lid was scraping rear bumper due to latches being tightened wrong-dealer fixed, headlamp full of condensation-dealer fixed, car ridiculously bad in the rain and snow, stability control makes loud grinding noises and causes the car to buck, replaced tires with snow tires, still bad-dealer has no answer for me, large deep scratch across windshield right in the line of view from contour oem windshield wipers, dealer said too bad. those are just a few, i cant remember them all, this car is such a lemon. im sticking with toyota from now on! i learned my lesson! *tr

We own a 2005 pontiac g6. this vehicle has a chronic issue with the brake pedal sensor.when the sensor is having issues, it is extremely hard to get the car to go from park to drive. more importantly though is then the sensor causes the brake light to work in reverse. when you apply the brakes, the lights go off, when the pedal is not depressed, the light stays on. we have had several sensors replaced and now have been told the fix is the electical lubricant. this electical lubricant is only good for a few months. obviously, it is a half assed fix. we have been to several former pontiac dealers only to have been told we are out of luck. this is an extremely dangerous situation. while driving at night, if you depress your brakes and no lights come on it could lead to a rear-end collision.thankfully this last time my husband was warned of this event by a gal who was driving behind him. my husband has been pulled over by the police because they thought he was drinking. he was told that a characteristic of a drunk driver is that they ride thier brakes. gm needs to get this corrected!!! it is not safe. we purchased this vehicle for my husband who drives 50 miles round trip to work everyday. this is an accident waiting to happen. we are seriously contemplating trading in the vehicle for another one because of this and other issues with the g6. it has been a lemon since we got it between this brake issue, a clunking noise when turning (which we were told is nothing from our former pontiac dealers) and the panoramic sunroof leaking and noise issues, which as well we were told nothing can be done about. (we had standing water in the vehicle w/ the leaks) this brake issue needs to be looked at!!!! we will not buy another gm vehicle because of this crappy service and lack of care in getting this vehicle recalled. what is it going to take??? i have seen other complaints addressing this same thing. i would emplore nhtsa to see what can be done about this.

I have a 2005 pontiac g6 and everytime i turn my wheel there is a loud clunking noise from the front of the car. a lot of these problems could be linked to the electric power assist steering. i have heard some people have lost all steering while driving. the steering is very loose and feels like you are all over the road. *tr

After 64,000 miles on a 2005 pontiac g6, i started hearing a clunk noise after turning steering wheel and while driving on expressway over 50 mph, my steering wheel vibrates. it feels as though the steering wheel is loose and something is about to come apart on my car. i went to a mechanic to get new brake pads and he stated that the vibration and steering noise was because my ball joints were bad. i handle this car extremely well and can not understand why ball joints would be bad so soon. he also stated that after trying to find parts, only the dealer sold them and they were a whopping 215.00 for each side of car. my warranty expired and this is going to be an out of pocket cost. it also seems that i have to keep replacing the brakes and rotors often. additionally my power steering light comes on sporadically making it hard for me to turn the wheel. *tr

I own a 2005 pontiac g6 which i purchased from a dealer after it had been leased for 1 year. the vehicle had 12000 miles on it when purchase. numerous problems have occurred with this vehicle after purchase. starting with a noise, clunk in the steering. this has been in the repair shop for upwards to 7-8 times, each time new repairs done on different parts. this problem has never been resolved. now at 64500 miles the noise is still there after repairs only 4000 miles ago. starting in october of 2007 i began having problems with the brake lights and cruise control. brake lights working only sporadically as well as the cruise control. there has been documented repairs on the is of 7-8 times as well. this problem also has never been resolved. on september 17, 2008 my car was involved in a rear-end automobile accident in most part and no doubt due to faulty brake light system. many other problems have occurred with this vehicle as well including poor sunvisor manufacturing, leaky map lights in overhead console, rapid wear of brake pads and rotors, rapid tire wear, starting drags when starting, occasionally the car will not shift out of park when the car is running and brake pedal is applied. *tr

Recurring issues with the front end and steering on a 2005 pontiac g6. problem first occurred at 4000 miles within 6 months of purchase. issues are locking of the steering, drifts and wanders, shoots uncontrollability to the side of road when hitting larger bumps without movement of the steering wheel, 'loose' noises, popping and general sounds like front is going to come out from under it. started a 4k miles, now has 23k miles with same issues and 6 trips to 3 different dealers. they don't have a clue what the problem is and tell me it's 'normal'. no injuries yet but it's just a matter of time. *tr

I took a lease over of a 2005 g6 less than a year ago. i have had nothing but problems with it from the very beginning. a lot of times it doesn't start just sputters repeatedly. took it in to get it checked out of course they say they can't find anything wrong. right after we got the car we had to have the brakes replaced and also there was a clunking noise. had to have both right and left front struts replaced. clunking noise still had not gone away, everytime i take it in i complain of the clunking and eachtime they say it is due to something else that needs to be replaced. have had a pulsation problem when brakes applied. power steering went on it quite a few times, had it replaced and has done it since. the rearview mirror snapped right off when being adjusted. visor cover snapped off. door lock knob snapped off. most of the work we have had done was covered by warranty. the warranty is now up and the right ball bearing now needs to be replaced which is why i hear clunking is what i was told. how come it is always something different causing the clunking noise? is going to cost around $500 to fix. what a piece of junk. we will never buy another north american made piece of jun again!!! *tr
