2005 pontiac g6 - water pours from the interior lights splashing the inside of the car and driver which is as unexpected as a child running in front of a vehicle. the sudden downpour may cause the driver to loose control of the vehicle when they look up to see where the water is coming from.. nobody was injured in my incident however, the water is coming from the drain tubes from the top of the car which have a tendancy to become disconnected. i am told this is not considered a safety hazard but a driver does not expect to be suddenly soaked by water when driving a car and can cause the driver to become reckless which may cause damage or injury to a vehicle or a person if it has not already. this is a common problem and needs to seriously considered as a safety hazard. other than the safety hazard that it is, it also causes the interior of the car to be completely destroyed from mold and/or mildew needing complete replacement. the dealers are very much aware of the problem but yet i have taken my car in twice and because it wasn't leaking at the time, the could not see a problem. mind you the back floorboard and seat were completely soaked from 8 gallons of water which had been sucked out of the car prior to driving it to the dealership.

My power steering light had been coming on intermittently for the past few days. yesterday while leaving a parking garage the power steering light came on. i continued driving and as i went to turn the wheel, the power steering went out while making a left turn (5-8mph). i nearly ran into a pillar in the parking garage. i turned the car off and back on and the problem went away, but the power steering light stayed illuminated. after searching the internet for some time, i came across hundreds of similar problems. a few of the same problems occurred while people where driving on the interstate which could have been deadly if someone would have been going around a turn or just switching lanes. i just don't understand why there hasn't been a recall to fix this problem. the car industry want us to stick behind american made products but are unwilling to fix potentially deadly problems until the inevitable occurs and someone losses their life because of a problem they know about. maybe that's why many are buying quality made foreign made products. over the five years i had the car i have had numerous problems this car has been a money pit. the hood latch broke, the power window motor went. the rotors have to be replaced more often than i change the oil ( that's ridiculous), the bearings went bad, the six disc factory cd player stops working and sticks constantly, the blower for the heater and ac only works on high, the panoramic sunroof leaks which has caused water to accumulate in the trunk and now their is a mildew smell ect......... *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 pontiac g6. the contact stated that the rear window defroster was activated prior to turning off the engine. when she returned to the vehicle, the rear glass shattered without force. the heating element from the defroster caused the glass to shatter. in addition, whenever the defroster and radio were activated simultaneously, the radio would short circuit and cause intermittent static. the defroster was not clearing the condensation from the rear glass surface sufficiently. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle has not been repaired. the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 72,464.

My 2005 pontiac g6's driver's side sun visor had an electrical short which caused smoke to come from the headliner area. the dealership has had my vehicle since then and have been waiting for a part to come in. the dealer suspects that this is not an isolated incident due to them not being able to find a replacement part. i suspect that this incident could have started a serious fire. *nm

I took a lease over of a 2005 g6 less than a year ago. i have had nothing but problems with it from the very beginning. a lot of times it doesn't start just sputters repeatedly. took it in to get it checked out of course they say they can't find anything wrong. right after we got the car we had to have the brakes replaced and also there was a clunking noise. had to have both right and left front struts replaced. clunking noise still had not gone away, everytime i take it in i complain of the clunking and eachtime they say it is due to something else that needs to be replaced. have had a pulsation problem when brakes applied. power steering went on it quite a few times, had it replaced and has done it since. the rearview mirror snapped right off when being adjusted. visor cover snapped off. door lock knob snapped off. most of the work we have had done was covered by warranty. the warranty is now up and the right ball bearing now needs to be replaced which is why i hear clunking is what i was told. how come it is always something different causing the clunking noise? is going to cost around $500 to fix. what a piece of junk. we will never buy another north american made piece of jun again!!! *tr

2005 pontiac g6 has problems with the brake lights, brake pads, and rotors. *nj the day after purchasing the vehicle, the consumer had to take it back to get an alignment and have the rotors replaced. in june 2008, the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer because the brakes were making a noise. the dealer was unable to duplicate the issue. two weeks later, the front pads had to be replaced because they were worn. the sunroof had to be repaired due to a rattling noise it was making. after the sunroof was repaired, it began to make a different noise. a technician determined a pipe had ruptured. the brake lights were on when the vehicle was in drive. the consumer then received a recall letter in the mail regarding the defective brake lights after already paying for a sensor that didn't resolve the issue. *jb

Too many complaints to write them all up, here are a few: engine makes metal grinding whooshing noise independent from acceleration-dealer cannot replicate, warped rotors-dealer wanted over $1,000 to fix, have had radio replaced 5 times due to disc errors-dealer keeps replacing, had steering rack and water pump replaced at 30,000 miles-dealer covered, sensor that turns on lights went-dealer replaced, power steering problems, hard to turn and rough, but no lock-ups like others have had(thankfully)-dealer cannot replicate, had drivers side front panel sunroof drain clog, water soaked front carpet(3 inches of water)-dealer fixed but left me with a moldy carpet!, engine flutters/stutters to a start on random-dealer has no answer for me, trunk lid was scraping rear bumper due to latches being tightened wrong-dealer fixed, headlamp full of condensation-dealer fixed, car ridiculously bad in the rain and snow, stability control makes loud grinding noises and causes the car to buck, replaced tires with snow tires, still bad-dealer has no answer for me, large deep scratch across windshield right in the line of view from contour oem windshield wipers, dealer said too bad. those are just a few, i cant remember them all, this car is such a lemon. im sticking with toyota from now on! i learned my lesson! *tr

Car is 3 months old and front windshield has chipped and cracked significantly in several spots at the first contact with any degree of impact(small stones, slow speeds, high speeds, etc). i noticed about 8 little chips all over the glass, inside and out within the first month. now, there is a huge slit in between the panel of the glass and the entire windshield now needs replacing. there is definitely something wrong with the quality of the glass that was put in this vehicle. i owned a used 1997 chrysler cirrus for 6 years prior to buying this g6 3 months ago, and i have never experienced even one chip in the windshield and it was driven under the same conditions for the entire life of the car. *jb
