| I have a 2006 pointiac g6, i had a letter about the steering but i have miss placed it. it stated that if my steering went out have it checked. well i was on the highway with my granddaughter and i went into the other lane infront of a truck and guess what the stearing would not move. i called a dealership in mn and they said until my car stops all together they could not fix it; i have my grandchildren with me quite frequently i guess they want to fix it when something happens to my grandchild or myself i don't think so; please tell me what to do before someone gets hurt and i don't want it to be anybody. also, i have replaced the rotors, brakes all four tires in the fall lof 2010 in the beginning of 2011 i had to have them fixed. well i have to go and have them fixed again i have never had a car like this in my life, i am a 65 year old single woman and i hate that this car is so badly constructed no wonder people do not buy american cars. please tell me what to do about my brakes, thank you. | |||

| My current problem with my 2006 pontiac g6 sounds the same as the recall for the 2009 pontiac g6. today (12-8-10) i had to bring in my car in to the dealer after putting my car in park, which then proceeded to roll. the wiring system did not seem to recognize park or disconnected from the transmission. i later tried to turn the ignition and the car would not turn on at all. 4 months ago i brought it in for the key getting stuck in the ignition because the car didnt recognize it as being in park. three other times i had issues with the brake/foot peddles. i would have to break to accelerate and drive to slow down or it would not accelerate at all until it reached 30mph. it would automatically drive in traction control and read decreased engine power on the panel. in addition, i have recently had a fountian of water pouring into my car surrounding the sunroof on either side of panels btwn the front and rear windows, resulting in severe interior damage and subsequent mold spores growing. instead of the filter surrounding the sunroof filtering water out, it is filtering water in. | |||

| 3rd time same problem....dealer could not fix...steering failure. doing 70mph on highway on long trip,steering totaly went out....i reported this again to dealer and they had no fix. they witnessed clunking and wobbles as well as a groan in steering and could not identify it. i got g.m. involved and they did nothing..even though dangerouse and certified used car. dealer then put me in another 2006 g6-gtp (coupe)for less money then i paid for original and now have same issues with the new one!!!!!!!! i spend more time at dealer then driving car...and now will lose my job due to time off for dealer and so-called band aid repaires. | |||

| All four brakes and rotors replaced at 22,000 miles due to pre-mature wear and sub-standard original parts. dealership wanted outrageous prices to replace with the same crap parts. also suggested replacing a failed ball joint and strut which was just out of warranty. offered minimal assistance from gm, so went to mr. tire which was much better and cheaper. this car is just made poorly. *tr | |||

| My problems started with this car before i even got home with my new purchase. i had 2 children in the car and the tire blew off the rim damaging the fender notes from the invoice state that parts and labor to be billed to 67d 67f, cannot warr tire that has been mounted wrong on 1st repair then on 6/26/06 paint was refinished due to clear coat peeling on the hood. on 11/06/06 radio does not play cd's and radio was replaced. 3k mile service with motor silk. also airbag light was staying on and they said they found a wire to sdm loose and repaired wire. also right rear tire was leaking air. 4/20/2007 engine was knocking loud when first started in morning at that time they replaced the lifters. the engine was replaced shortly after that and again had problems with the air bag light staying, dealership again said it was a sensor but this is only a few of many issues i've been having with this car. please contact me and we will go through each one or you can contact the dealership where this lemon was purchased and request the records (i have a copy too).... *tr | |||

| When i first purchased the car it only had 10 miles on it and within the next 6 months it would not start and had to be towed to the dealership 3 times. the first 2 times i was told that there was some loose wiring or that the wire was to close to a component and the component melted the plastic covering the wires. the third time i was told there was a problem with the security information but, it was corrected. then at 40,000 miles the car started jerking whenever i drove it. it seemed as if the gas was not getting to the engine quick enough (i'm not a mechanic) then the mileage went considerably down. for a full tank of gas i used to get 451 miles this is told through the fuel monitor that is in the car. but, after this began occurring the monitor would state 239 miles after i filled it up! i have had to fill-up 6 times in 2 weeks. when a tank of gas used to last 2 weeks for me. i went to the dealership that i purchased the vehicle from and was told that i am no longer under warranty so they would have to charge me to diagnose the vehicle. once they diagnosed the car they stated that it was the catalytic converter and the would replace free of charge and that i would not have to pay for the diagnostic test either. while i was ecstatic to know that they were going to fix my vehicle at no charge to me, warning bells did sound off immediately. when i received the invoice back from them it stated that these items were replaced: oxidation catalytic converter, 2 gaskets, 1 pipe and 2 manifold core chg. and after all of this work which took from 8:30a.m to 2:00pm, my mileage monitor is now reporting 300 miles for a full tank of gas when originally i was getting 451. after reading all of these complaints re. this vehicle i am just disgusted. i will review this site when purchasing my next vehicle which i think will be pretty soon. *tr | |||

| Began popping when i turned any direction, had it checked out by the pontiac dealer, said the power steering needed greased. 2 weeks later began again, took it back in, they decided the rack and pinion needed replaced. had that replaced, 1 month later, same thing. had it fixed again. about 2 months it has started it again. also the airconditioner has quit twice. trading it off tomorrow! have had the car three years. was brand new when bought. *tr | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2006 pontiac g6 gt. while driving the vehicle off the dealer lot at approximately 2 mph, there was an electrical failure with the power windows. in addition, the cell phone charger fuse continued to blow out. the dealer stated that they would make repairs under warranty. there was bubbling in the paint job that was also repaired under warranty. whenever the vehicle is started, the stereo changes from xm fm to am. the screen for the xm radio is blank, the clock is always behind, and the fuel gauge never works properly. it is difficult to tell exactly how much fuel is in the vehicle. the engine ticks periodically and it sometimes stalls upon starting. the nuts in the door loosen every two weeks and make a loud clunking sound when they are coming loose. there is also something wrong with the power steering. the failure mileage was 20 and current mileage was 18,000. update 09/10/08 *cw the power steering failed and was replaced, but it still was not right. the drive shaft began to unusual noises. updated 09/10/08. *jb | |||

| I have a 06 pontiac g6 w/ 20k miles. at 4k miles it went to the dealership for a cd player problem. now i have more problems. 3 weeks ago we went to use the vehicle and the battery was dead. it was towed to dealership and batt. found to be bad. last monday 29th we found the battery to be dead again so it was towed back to te dealership again. once again battery was bad and replaced. then we had been noticing problems with the fuel range, mileage and low fuel light. you would be driving and the gas gauge would say you had 1/4 tank left and 39 miles to empty. you drive a mile and the gauge is on empty and it says low fuel!!! the dealership says no problem found, working as manf. built then it would say you have x amount of miles to empty then the number would jump up and down. took to dealership who said. no problem found, working as manf. built. i picked it up from the dealership and it said 206 miles to empty, i drove a half mile and it said 180 miles to empty. then drove a quarter mile and it said 193 miles to empty. this was under normal speeds and acceleration. my dealership finally refused to work on the vehicle so i took it to another dealership who said cannot duplicate the problem so i dropped it off to have the oil changed. come back 15 hours later and the battery was dead. towed to the dealership again. they replaced the battery again. i picked it up once again and the fuel mileage said 142 i drove a half mile and it went to 130 i drove a quarter mile and it said 126 miles and then i drove 700 feet and it said 116 miles. i drove it back to the dealership and when i stopped i had 131 miles to empty. this car has been in the shop every day since monday the 29th. *tr | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2006 pontiac g6. the vehicle did not come equipped with a rear child safety lock mechanism. the owner's manual stated that the vehicle should come equipped with this mechanism, but it does not. the contact just learned that the feature does not exist when she recently attempted to use the lock. the dealer agreed to install the mechanism at the cost of $460.67. the current and failure mileages were 22,000. updated 06/02/08 *bf | |||
