Started noticing a very strong odor of fuel coming from the vehicle after the vehicle was turned off. after a while the smell became stronger and we could smell it a day after we had even driven the car and the car started taking longer and longer to start. apparently there is an issue with the fuel pump module and it is actually leaking gasoline at the top of the fuel pump. we have taken care of this car religiously since it was purchased new. we did some research and noticed that this is an issue with this year model and other year models. according to our research and contact with gm the 2006 g6 has not been added to the current recall 09v-419 which is unacceptable as this is a manufacturer defect and occurs just from driving the vehicle. *tr

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 pontiac g6. the contact stated that there was a smell of fuel inside and outside of the vehicle. in addition, when driving various speeds the engine warning indicator illuminated three different times with the fuel odor emitting inside of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the engine solenoid was replaced. the fuel odor continued after the repair was performed. the vehicle was not repaired for the second time. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000. the vin was unavailable. mah

2006 pontiac g6 started emitting a strong odor of fuel regardless of fuel level or if the car was running or not. first visual inspection revealed that there was not a steady leak of fuel on the ground under the car. the fuel odor progressively intensified and upon the second more thorough inspection there is a leak from the fuel pump assembly directly on top of the fuel tank and above the exhaust system. *tr

2 days in a row i have been pulling into parking spaces when all of a sudden my power steering stops working, the power steering light comes on, and a alert chime sounds. pontiac has recalled other makes/models for this exact problem, but the 2006 g6 was not included in this recall. my car is becoming dangerous to drive because of this defect. there are plenty of reports of this online. why is pontiac not being required to recall these faulty cars? 2 months ago i contacted pontiac because my car was leaking fuel from the gas line. this was happening because of a faulty plastic part in the fuel pump. again, pontiac had a partial recall for this exact same part, and the exact same problem on other models, but no recall for the 2006 g6. since leaking fuel is a hazard to my family i was forced to get this fixed, and pontiac did not reimburse or help with the cost. again, why is pontiac not being required to recall these faulty cars that are dangerous to the families who are driving them? *tr

In april i started to notice a faint smell of gasoline emanating from the rear of my vehicle. thinking nothing of it i paid little mind. as the months have gone by i have noticed the smell has gotten worse and now fuel drips from the back of the fuel tank in small quantities after being driven for even a small amount of time. researching on forums i have found much talk of this same problem as shown: http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2006/pontiac/g6/fuel+system http://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2647 this seems to the average observer to be directly linked to the current expansion campaign 12v459000 which originally addressed in recall 09v-419 a quick glance over of the parts shows that they have differing model numbers, however have an design in the area in which the breakage is occurring. my primary concern as a consumer is that this is a non moving part that is not in an area that could be exposed to normal wear and tear as such it can be deduced that this incident is tied to a faulty design and not user error. this is a safety hazard caused by a design flaw that the company has already recognized is in error in multiple other vehicles and as such the recall should be expanded to cover the 2006 pontiac g6. *tr

Plastic return on fuel pump module cracked leaking fuel on ground and near exhaust. this apears to be related to recall number 12190 that was announced 9/30/2012. when i took vehicle in for repair, the dealer could find no active recall. i took pictures of the defective fuel pump module at the dealer garage. *tr

The car started smelling like gas and took it to the dealer and found out the fuel pump was leaking. it cost me $911.53 to replace the fuel pump with 19179818 w-module kit. i called the gm recall claim department, but they said there is no recall for my car. i asked them to review this problem and it is the same problem they are having with the other similar car. *tr

I noticed a strong gas smell from the back of my car,i just brought it used last june 11, i also noticed that when sitting in the car either in the front or rear the smell of gas is strong as well, i had to have work done on my car last month and was told that the entire top of my tank was wet from gas and the smell was strong in the shop (sears) and i should have this looked at asap because it could cause a fire and was very unsafe. i have been researching this issue and have found over 100 other people with this same issue in the 2006 pontiac g6 but have yet to find any kind of recall ,why should this be the owners expense when this is a very dangerous issue my daughter sits in the back and to know gas is leaking and could cause a fire or possible maybe explode is not a good thought, its the same issue with them all a fuel pump with a plastic elbow hose setup, now i seen a recall for 2007 colbots and g6 and i think g5 with the exact same issue why is it not covering all the cars with this issue is unsafe, now im going to have to again pay out of pocket to fix something due to poor design and unsafe conditions i dont think its right at all with so many people having the same problem.
