| I've received but can't locate documents indicating that the steering column in 2006 pontiac g6 has problems. the steering column freezes up and i can't turn my steering wheel when i'm driving and has almost caused accidents. this has been a big issue and dangerous, in fact everyone refuses to drive my car due to this issue. it's especially bad during the fall, winter and spring searsons, not so much during the summer. i have my grandkids in cars and am so afraid they will be injured. | |||

| Last night on two occasions my power steering stopped working and the lights on my dashboard went off as well as my headlights. the power steering warning light and battery light came on. once while pulling into a parking spot i almost hit another vehicle and then again while pulling onto on coming traffic. my car wouldn' turn and there was a bus coming my direction. i could have easily gotten into a serious accident. this problem is very dangerous and scary. i will not be able to drive my car until this problem is solved. please help! | |||

| 2006 pontiac g6 experiencing all issues documented in recall however this specific vehicle was in recalled. cruise control will intermittently fail when driving, excessive force is required to shift vehicle from park into reverse/drive in some instances. brake lights will illuminate when brakes are not depressed and will not illuminate when brakes are depressed. all issues are intermittent, any one of them occurring at least 1x week. contacted both gm and dealership in august and again in december and while issues are documented, no repair has been made because vehicle is not under the existing recall. | |||

| The power steering light comes on the radio message center. it keeps popping up and off. there is no area to add more or find out what is going on. it keeps failing. this is not the first g6 to do this and needs to be fixed by the manufacturers | |||

| I have had my pontiac g6 for almost 6 years now, very close to paying it off and now i am having trouble with it. earlier this year i had the faulty catalytic converter. luckily i was able to have that replaced free of charge. now nearly six months later i am having problems with my power steering. like before researching it online i discovered that this is a serious issue that some have been able to have replaced free and others have went through a terrible nightmare. i was on my way to work this morning and was turning out of the parking lot of where i live when suddenly power steering came up on the menu and my steering wheel locked up. with force i was able to maneuver the car over to the side of the road and turned the car off. when i turned it back on it was fine. luckily there was no on coming traffic or there would have been a serious accident. i'm having the car looked at first thing in the morning to determine what is wrong and what is covered. i'm having serious doubts about my vehicle and where will the faulty parts end? i hope the next one will not cause my death or someone else's. gm needs to fix this! | |||

| I own a pontiac g6 2006 its the worst car i have ever owned i have put 4000-6000$ in to this car and still continue to have problems on a daily basis from the power steering catalytic converters brakes tire rod ends wheel barrings and numerous other problems i have paid more on fixing the problems on the car than i have paid on the car there are currently no recalls to my knowledge but i strongly beleive the entire car should be recalled and gm should pay back what the car was purchased for! | |||

| The electronic power steering stopped working and the power steering light came on in the radio. after i shut the car off and restarted it, the steering working again but it soon failed and went through the process of restarting car to get it to work. it seems to do it more when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the right. it now does it frequently and the car steers so hard when it happens, it would be easy to loose control and crash. pontiac says this is not a safety recall and they will not honor warranty on my car. nhtsa did investigate this under action number pe07023 but pontiac still states it is not a safety problem. i disagree and feel pontiac should correct this prior to an accident happening. | |||

| I bought a 2006 pontiac g6 gtp sedan, the car has 80,000 miles on it and the brakes and rotors have been replaced twice already. now they are needing replacement again after already having a front end alignment. this is not covered under warranty by gm. this has costed me well over 2,000 dollars, and in just a few searches of the internet you will see thousands of complaints about the same issues with the car. the car shakes terribly when braking, and at times locks up the brakes. there have been numerous places and mechanics that ive talked to saying its how the car is made. and if that is the case then the manufacturer needs to take care of the issues and recall the warped rotors instead of thousands of people spending and unknown amount of money fixing a problem that was made by the company. | |||

| My current problem with my 2006 pontiac g6 sounds the same as the recall for the 2009 pontiac g6. today (12-8-10) i had to bring in my car in to the dealer after putting my car in park, which then proceeded to roll. the wiring system did not seem to recognize park or disconnected from the transmission. i later tried to turn the ignition and the car would not turn on at all. 4 months ago i brought it in for the key getting stuck in the ignition because the car didnt recognize it as being in park. three other times i had issues with the brake/foot peddles. i would have to break to accelerate and drive to slow down or it would not accelerate at all until it reached 30mph. it would automatically drive in traction control and read decreased engine power on the panel. in addition, i have recently had a fountian of water pouring into my car surrounding the sunroof on either side of panels btwn the front and rear windows, resulting in severe interior damage and subsequent mold spores growing. instead of the filter surrounding the sunroof filtering water out, it is filtering water in. | |||

| While driving my g-6 pontiac to work, i tried to turn the corner, & i had a sudden loss of power steering assist, & went into the oncoming traffic because i couldn't turn the wheel hard enough. i received a letter in the mail from pontiac which stated that the power steering assist is covered under a special coverage program. my car did not qualify because it had to many miles. i feel this is a safety hazard & should have been a recall instead. you have issued a recall on the 2007-2009 mazda3 and mazda5 power steering voluntary safety recall 6010h. have you not gotten enough complaints on the g6 pontiac, or does it take a lot of accidents or loss of life for a different vehicle to get the same recall. i had to spend $708.00 to get my vehicle fixed. i should not have had to put out that kind of money. i didn't get any satisfaction from general motors corporation, but i do hope you consider also making the g-6 problem a total recall. | |||

| I have had multiple problems with my brake lights. at first they worked in reverse, then stayed on all the time and the third time they are not working at all now. i had the pedal position sensor and brake light switch replaced in 10/08. in 10/09 the brake lights stayed on at all times and they said there was a bulletin about greasing the part which they did. now, 8/10 my brakelights are not working at all again! i called the only local dealership who can't fit me in for at least one week. | |||

| 2006 pontiac g6, currently with 76,400 miles at 21k my brakes were already in the yellow. at 38k, i replaced the front brakes and had the car aligned. at 45k, i had to replace the front brake pads again. at 50k, i had to resurface the rotors. at 54k, i had to install new rotors and new front brakes... again. i purchased high performance, cross-drilled rotors, and the brakes that were recommended to go along with them, and had them installed at a reputable brake company. at a little over 54k, i had to do another alignment. at 64k, another alignment was recommended and performed. at 71k, brakes are in the yellow again. and now, today, at 76k, had to resurface the new rotors, and was told that my front brakes are, once again, nearing the red. and i'm pretty sure, if i had the energy, money and time to check the alignment again, it would need to be re-aligned again. pontiac g6 has some sort of problem that causes a ridiculous amount of brake and rotor wear, and alignment issues. period. | |||

| My pontaic g6 2006 power sterring goes out at first i was told my battery wasnt strong enough so, brought a new battery and it still goes out took back to dealership told me the power sterring would cost me 1,200 and it wasnt under recall i think gm need to pay for this who wants a car that doesnt have a powe sterring pump atleast i could see if it needed a belt or fluid this is a mess | |||

| Bought a 2006 pontiac g6 about 6 weeks ago, drove it for about 5 weeks then the power steering light on the dash came on dinging, husband tried to find where to fill up the power steering fluid, no place it's electric. went to visit a relative 4 hours away leaving from the mall one night light came on again dinging and lost all power steering. just thankful wasn't on a sharp turn as i would have lost control. power steering light coming on all the time now but haven't lost power steering since but really nervous about driving it as i never know if it will happen again. have had it to the garage for a scan and it says position sensor and torque input sensor problem. no one seems to know how to fix the problem for certain and even if they do try replacing the steering column it doesn't always work. there should be a recall on these cars to have them fixed before someone like myself gets hurt or causes an accident with someone else. i will never fully trust this car again. something needs to be done. asap | |||

| I have a 2006 pontiac g6. there is a popping noise everytime i turn the wheel at low speeds. the breaks on my car have squeeled since a couple of months after i bought this car. i have taken the car to get checked on countless occasions, and am told my breaks are fine, and that they can replace the breaks and rotors (even though they are fine), but they cannot say that it would make them stop squeaking! i am also having a problem when i start the car. i will turn the key and it will start, but it keeps turning like it is not started, then just shuts off. i have been reading about other complaints from people online, with their steering. i have a baby, and i am afraid that something is going to happen when she is in the car with me. we cannot let something awful happen, before there is a recall! there are too many people having these problems, so lets be proactive, instead of reactive! | |||

| 2006 pontiac g6 v6 stalling while in drive and park. there were no events leading up to this and has occured six times. while driving at low speeds or in park, the car will suddenly turn off and the check engine light will illuminate. the brake and steering will also lock up. upon turning the car off and placing it in park it will restart, i have placed the car in the shop two times to have this fixed. last time (may 18) was to tape engine wires and clean the fuel injector, which they said would fix it. this repair coset me $500. since then the problem has increased, happening three times in the past three days. i have contacted pontiac numerous times but they are unwilling to help. both my gm dealer and i have used a code reader to see if the car is throwing out a code when it stalls but nothing can be found. my car has quickly become a liability to myself and those around me, as the last time i stalled i almost drifted into a busy intersection. something needs to be done to fix this problem, which is aparently quite widespread in 2006 g6s. | |||

| I have a 2006 pontiac g6. my steering wheel gets really tight when turning in any direction then it becomes extremely loose. my radio will not play any cd's and i had to take it to dealership once to have it replaced because it caused my battery to die. my right passenger light has water in it. my remote starter no longer works on the vehicle. my passenger side tire sounds as if the ball joint is loose in it. | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2006 pontiac g6. on a very hot day, the contact opened the door to her vehicle and smelled something burning. she noticed that a part of the driver's seat, the glove compartment, the interior ceiling, and a small portion of the dashboard appeared to have melted. she took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not find any failures. they stated that they would search technical service bulletins for more information and get back with her. as of june 9, 2008, the contact has yet to hear from the dealer. she called the customer service department and filed a complaint. she was informed again that she would be called back, and when she was, the customer service department stated that nothing could be done. a representative came out to inspect the vehicle and informed her that she would be responsible for the damage. the current mileage was 16,835 and failure mileage was 16,546. updated 07/08/08. *bf updated *jb | |||
