| Gm notified the agency by letter dated january 28, 2009, that it will conduct a safety recall of pontiac g6 vehicles built from january 3 through january 31, 2005.vehicles produced during this time period have shown a highly elevated incident rate of improper operation of the brake lamps. odi opened this investigation after receiving reports that consumers would use their brakes and discover that the brake lamps would not illuminate.also, consumers report that the brake lamps would illuminate when the brake pedal was not applied.odi's review of the complaint data finds that the complaint rate for the january 2005 production is 20 times greater than for the remainder of the subject vehicle population.likewise, the warranty rate for the january 2005 production is 11 times greater than for the remainder of the subject vehicle population.in its letter to the nhtsa, general motors (gm) explained that the primary cause of this brake condition was fretting corrosion (oxidation) of the connector pins on the body control module (bcm) that connect to the to the brake pedal position sensor (bpps).the corrosion prevents the bcm from receiving the correct signal voltage from the bpps.in december 2008, gm released technical service bulletin (tsb) #08-05-22-009 to provide technicians the correct repair procedures for subject vehicles that experience improper illumination of the brake lamps.this action taken by gm is sufficient to resolve the issues raised by this investigation. | ||||||

| Recently purchased 2007 pontiac g6. have been notified by other motorists my brake lights don't work when stopping at an intersection, and then come on when accelerating away. brake lights illuminated when brake pedal is not depressed, and no brake lights when brake pedal is depressed. happens sporadically. brake lights have illuminated when running and in park with nobody in the vehicle. i can tell when the brake lights are on during the day if i am on the highway trying to use the cruise control, if it doesn't engage the brake lights are on. at night when there is nobody behind me i can see the bright reflection in my rear view mirror if the brake lights have illuminated on there own. new brake pedal position sensor installed and calibrated at gm dealership 12-29-2010. currently working properly to the best of my knowledge. | |||

| We have a 2007 pontiac g6 convertible. i was following my spouse home and noticed the brake lights on when he was driving but they went off every time he braked to turn a corner, stop at a light, or slow down when behind another car. i can't believe that there is a recall for only 2005 - 2006 pontiac g6 with this problem but none for 2007 owners. it's obvious the 2007 pontiac g6 owners have the same problem which gm needs to acknowledge and fix (for free.) | |||

| 10/5/10 i was going to have work done on my pontiac g6 2007 base model, i was following behing my car while i was driving another vehicle and saw that my brake light were on while driving and not when stop. on 10/06/10 i went to a gm dealer and had sensor repair and brakes recalibrated. tonight 10/22/10 at 9:05pm i was pulled over by and officer who stated he saw my brakes were on while driving and not when stopping. i wanted to be refunded for what i pay to fix it and have gm fixed it free of charge..because it's a safety issue i will have to take it to the dealership monday morning and be charged again....someone needs to contact me and i wanted refunds for me having to take it twice to get fix, refund me for both.... | |||

| Our 2007 g6 has a safety problem that results in the brake lights being on when the brakes are not applied and off when you apply the brakes. we have also experienced cruise control drop out at speed several times as well as difficulties shifting into drive unless extreme pressure is applied to the brake pedal. all three of these concerns line up with nhtsa campaign id number 09v036000 however our vehicle was built after the recall period. gm has been notified of the concern but reports that there are not recall notices or service bulletins for this vehicle. all three symptoms indicate that the recalled connector sited in 09v03600 continues to be a safety concern for vehicles manufactured after the recall period of 2005-2006. related to, but witnessed before, the brake light problems on our vehicle i followed a g6 on i75 north of auburn hills mi that had it's brake lights illuminated while at speed but they turned off when the driver slowed due to traffic. this is a concerning safety problem that must be addressed. | |||

| I was preparing to stop at a red light when i noticed the car behind me was not slowing down as much. the other car nearly hit me but managed to pull up beside me to tell me my brake lights were not working. i drove later that night and noticed in my rearview mirror that my lights were on although i was not applying the brake pedal. however, when i did apply the brakes, my lights would turn off. i have taken my car to meineke twice already and they cannot find the cause of the problem. the occurrence of this problem has been about every night that i have driven. i am unable to notice if the problem occurs during the day since i cannot see the back of my car then. i feel very unsafe driving my car because i fear someone will rear end me and it would be my fault because my brake lights do not work properly. it is very unsafe and i do not feel as if i should go pay to get it fixed when i have not done anything to cause whatever the problem may be. i have only had this car for a few months and i am worried i made the wrong choice unless i can get this problem fixed. *tr | |||

| There is a current recall on the brake lights of the 2005-2006 g6 cars, nhtsa campaign id number: 09v036000. but there are a lot of owners of 2007 cars that are having the exact same issues but we can not get the fixes applied to our cars because it's not covered in the recall dates....you guys should really think about things before you randomly slap a date on things. i bought my g6 in dec of 2006, i have had issues with the sunroof, the right side headlight wiring melted, the brake lights are coming on by themselves and we are on our third engine, which the dealership said was because we did not change the oil, but they did the oil changes. i am tired of pouring money into this crappy car, the least you guys could do is realize that there were probably some of the same parts on the floor when the next years models were started and the first few months of the next year after they changed the parts are most likely going to be affected by the issues and should be included in the recall. *tr | |||

| 2007 pontiac g6. consumer writes in regards to recall concerning brake lights dielectric grease *tgw the consumer stated he noticed the brake lights were on, when the brake was not being applied, the cruise control would not engage and it was difficult to get the vehicle out of park. other times the brake lights would not come on when the brake was applied. the consumer discovered recall# 09v036000 which was issued on jan 28, 2009 to address the very same problem. the recall was for the 2005- 2006 and not the 2007 models which were built in late 2006. the problem was fixed by applying dielectric grease to the c-2 connector, which was the very same fix for the recall. *jb | |||
