| Power steering locks up. locks up no matter what speed you are going. found that they replaced this for the 05,06, 08 years but not 07? really? apparently it is still a dangerous issue that has not been resolved by pontiac. i viewed several complaints and pontiac does not accept responsibility for the 2007. not sure how they are getting away with this. this is very dangerous and will go out at any given moment. very expensive to replace. must replace or don't drive. i have driven other makes of cars before and they have repaired them if there was a recall. this is my first new pontiac that they refuse to recall. next new car will not be pontiac. spread the word, don't buy a used pontiac g6. mine was brand new when i bought it. | |||

| I have been having powers steering problems with my car for months. power steering light comes on, the wheel jerks making it hard to control sometimes. at higher speeds it seemed to be worse, and the steering wheel will vibrate. i did bring it to a dealer that told me there was extended warranty coverage on 2005 and 2006 g6 models , but not 2007. i would be responsible for repairs. yesterday i was in a car accident and i believe the steering problem played a role. the wheel was jerking, prior to the accident. we were driving on an interstate traveling at a faster speed. i don't know how i ended up bouncing off the back tire of a semi truck in the lane next to me, but i was fighting the car to gain control of the vehicle again. not only with all the normal physical forces, but the car still wanted to go its own way. over compensating and fishtailing the whole way. thankfully we are all alive, the car probably will be a complete loss. *tr | |||

| Driving during snowy conditions, i began to lose control and spin out. i attempted to correct my steering, then my car fish tailed. i slid into the ditch, never used my brakes. i took out a sign with the drivers side and hit about 3-4 trees with the front end. my airbags never deployed. thank goodness no one was injured, but the amount of damage done and how many things i hit, shocks me as to why my airbag never deployed. *tr | |||

| At least twice a week since i purchased the car from a previous owner, the power steering would lock on me and i am unable to steer anymore. this would happen anywhere from going 10mph to 70mph. the only way that i could steer again is to turn off the car and turn it back on as i am moving the steering wheel to unlock it. thankfully i managed to prevent any accidents but it is just a matter of time before something happens. i took the car to a dealership and was told it was fixed but few weeks later same problem. i would be driving on a main road and right before i have to turn it locks on me so i have to turn off the car in the middle of the road to unlock it. this is a big safety issue. something needs to be done about it. i cannot afford to keep spending money to fix this issue. this was a problem with a g5 and they did a recall on it. i cannot believe that the same problem is happening to g6 now and they will not do anything about it. i called gm several times but they said because this is an electrical problem my 10 year power train warranty wont cover it and therefore they wont even take a look at it (unless i pay out of pocket). never again will i buy a gm car. *tr | |||

| I financed this used car in 2010 at 27,000 miles. since i have had this car i have not had the chance to really enjoy it because i am constantly fixing on it. i ave had a lot of problems. i have replaced brakes 2x once with rotors and they are goin out again including rotors. i am constantly replacing tires. my steering wheel pops when turning and i have had this fixed once. traction gone. had heat/air on and smoke smelling like a firecracker came from passenger dashboard. my biggest problem right now is that i had the whole suspension system replaced and now i am constantly replacing the lugs on my front left tire because the constantly pop off. brake lights and headlights constantly goes out. air bag, engine, and traction light goes on and off (sometimes staying on). power in driver door gone out for windows resulting in 3 windows unable to roll up/down but will work when wants. only one will go down using its own panel. replaced a crack in lca. remote starter gone out. car wheel shakes occasionally. interior lights doesn't work except front dashboard but minus where gear shaft at (went out after smoke from dashboard). needs struts to be replaced. also jerks with a huge pop that you can feel when putting car in gear. when accelerating you can feel it shift gears. i am currently only at about 83000 miles. nothing but trouble. scared serious accident may happen because of the lugs constantly poppin off. we don't know why. i called pontiac and gm and no recalls on this car except power-train and warranty for trans and none of this was covered by warranty or them period. tired of this car so tired!! gm and pontiac need to do something this is terrible to only be a 2007. *tr | |||

| I financed this used car in 2010 at 27,000 miles. since i have had this car i have not had the chance to really enjoy it because i am constantly fixing on it. i ave had a lot of problems. i have replaced brakes 2x once with rotors and they are goin out again including rotors. i am constantly replacing tires. my steering wheel pops when turning and i have had this fixed once. traction gone. had heat/air on and smoke smelling like a firecracker came from passenger dashboard. my biggest problem right now is that i had the whole suspension system replaced and now i am constantly replacing the lugs on my front left tire because the constantly pop off. brake lights and headlights constantly goes out. air bag, engine, and traction light goes on and off (sometimes staying on). power in driver door gone out for windows resulting in 3 windows unable to roll up/down but will work when wants. only one will go down using its own panel. replaced a crack in lca. remote starter gone out. car wheel shakes occasionally. interior lights doesn't work except front dashboard but minus where gear shaft at (went out after smoke from dashboard). needs struts to be replaced. also jerks with a huge pop that you can feel when putting car in gear. when accelerating you can feel it shift gears. i am currently only at about 83000 miles. nothing but trouble. scared serious accident may happen because of the lugs constantly poppin off. we don't know why. i called pontiac and gm and no recalls on this car except power-train and warranty for trans and none of this was covered by warranty or them period. tired of this car so tired!! gm and pontiac need to do something this is terrible to only be a 2007. *tr | |||

| On highway traveling out of town averaging 60-65 in my 2007 pontiac g6 i lightly pressed brakes approaching an exit for gas when a the steering wheel started shaking. i had to press the brakes again to stop after exiting the highway to stop. the shaking was noticeably worse. i purchased the car used about 2 months before this event so i did not expect any brake issues. after several months my wife mentioned a noise from the brakes. i had the brakes inspected and the service person said the brakes were fine but my front and rear struts were bad. i asked him if this would cause the steering wheel to shake when breaking at highway speeds and he said yes. i took the car back to the dealership of purchase and they did a brake inspection even though i asked to have the struts looked at and stated that rotors were warped. after this i searched for problems with the steering on the model and year of my car. i found thousands of customer complaints of all the symptoms and issues i was having. i did find a service bulletin about the intermediate shaft in the steering.technical bulletin no.: 06-02-32-007g date: april 05, 2010 subject: clunk, knock or rattle noise from front of vehicle while driving or turning over bumps at low speeds (diagnose noise and perform outlined repair) models: 2004-2006 chevrolet malibu maxx 2004-2008 chevrolet malibu classic 2008-2010 chevrolet malibu 2005-2010 pontiac g6 2007-2010 saturn aura supercede: this bulletin is being revised to update the parts information for the bolt. please discard corporate bulletin number 06-02-32-007f (section 02 - steering. at this point i believe a recall should be issued on the entire front suspension including the factory rotors which warp within 2k-3k miles. re-surfacing these rotors increases the braking problem. and a non-metallic ceramic brake pad should be installed by a gm certified service department. | |||

| I currently own a 2007 pontiac g6 sedan 4 cylinder. when the weather gets hotter and towards the summer months, every time i start up the car make a turn, i get an illumination on my radio that reads power steering and my power steering shuts off, making it extremely hard to turn the wheel and navigate the vehicle. multiple times it has happened while trying to turn onto a busy road, causing near accidents due to sudden loss of steering control. i have called the pontiac dealership and was told they had heard nothing of this issue. from reading many articles online, i find that very hard to believe and i think this is an issue many people would like to be solved. they issued a recall for the g5 series for power steering failure, but not the g6 which seems to have the same problems. | |||

| I was turning my 07 pontiac g6 going approximately 10-15 mph and the whole steering system locked up, thankfully no one was in the other lane while turning since my turn now had to be wide. i also noticed that the display said power steering, i pulled car over to the side and turned hazard lights on. i made a phone call to my brother who told me to try to get to the nearest parking lot, i was extremely upset at this time as even driving straight to the nearest lot was hard for me to control at a low speed. i made it and physically could not turn car into a spot. my brother came to pick me up. the car was turned off for about a half hour, when he restarted the car the power steering seemed to work again, as i was afraid to drive home, he drove it home for me which was about a half hour away. turning to the right feels like it wants to give out again. i contacted gm pontiac who said to take it to the dealer to have inspected. today i took in and waiting for a call back from the service center. i have read multiple complaints regarding same issue and i am truly afraid to drive car as this is bound to happen again, i have 3 children that i will not put in car now until something is done. gm needs to take responsibility for the defective product that they made. as of right now they are telling me no recall on this year and model. service person at the dealer said some vin# are included in the other model/year recalls he would have to check mine. something needs to be done before lives are lost due to this. i paid my car off upfront when i purchased it and do not feel the need to pay for it again. anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. | |||

| My passesnger side low beams were burning out, i took my vehicle to the dealer in dec (2010), one year later, it's back. i noticed the connection was completely shorted and burnt. prob won't last much longer. this past aug (2011) my fuel pump started leaking fuel, it was the assembly which had a hairline fracture which was unrepairable, had to replace the complete assembly for $350. for the last couple years my steering does a popping sound and feel when i make slow sharp turns (as in u-turns). the dealer temporary fixed it once, but it retured before i could even forget about it. their solution was greasing the sterring joint. my ac/heating fan was making a ticking sound while it was on a couple years back (around nov 2009), the dealer fixed the ticking but it returned last year. though it's not as loud or annoying as before i've learned to tune it out, not too fun for my passengers though. | |||

| I was pulling into work when my car filed with smoke in cab and coming from under the hood. i tried to pull into a park spot to get out to safety. the power steering not working, it took everything i had to make the turn. the rubber power steering line was installed against the exhaust up near the fire wall and had burned though .all the power steering fluid was pouring onto the hot exhaust. i called gm trying to get them to fix this safety issue as i am not the first one with it and wont be the last. took the car into the dealer moss brothers in moreno valley ca. so fair there only concern is making a few bucks from the repair. i will keep you all updated as to how gm is going to handle correcting the safety hazard in their design. | |||

| The vehicle's rubber power steering return hose is resting against the underside of the exhaust pipe. there is a reflectant covered fabric as a radiant barrier, but i suspect is is not designed to prevent heat (from right after the pre-catalytic converter) from seeping through due to conduction. i have made an inspection through my fingers as there is no way of seeing the damage until the hose is removed. the reflective surface material is clearly off of the rest of the material and it feels to be completely burned through. the loss of power steering fluid could have been catastrophic for two reasons. first was the virtual loss of steering (luckily my wife was not driving at a high rate of speed). second, that power steering fluid could have caused a vehicle fire had it hit a hot exhaust instead of the one that was barely warm after less than 1/2 mile of driving. just the same, it created a lot of smoke convincing my wife that her car was either on fire or about to be. i have pictures of the hose routing and i'll be making repairs this week-end. please let me know if i can be of assistance in this matter. it is hard for me to fathom that the vehicle was designed to have this rubber hose containing a flammable fluid to rest against a hot exhaust pipe. this is either a design defect or somebody forgot to ensure clearance during assembly. gm seemed unconcerned when i phoned them this evening. | |||

| The steering on my car first started acting up so i took it to the dealership and they took forever to look at it. finally they said that they were not exactly sure but that the instructions said to first fix the steering motor and then the problem should be resolved with just that. so i had the steering motor replaced on my car, which cost over $600 dollars to fix even though they claimed they were going to try to help me get a good deal. i had the motor fixed and within a week and a half or so the power steering was going out again. it would go out when i was driving and would not come back on when i would turn off and restart the car. it was very scary and dangerous to drive like that. it would go out at any given second and on turns. i took my car back to the dealership again and asked them to replace the motor again since it was under warranty but they would not do that because they said that i needed a steering column now. i had to have the steering column replaced because a sensor in the column had went out and this cost me more money. i was very upset because that could have been the problem all along and i could have had that fixed in the beginning and not risked my safety with driving around with a car that | |||

| My power steering began to go out. at first it would just go out every three to four days and then it began to go out three to four times each time i drove it. it would go out when i was turning on the road while driving. i would have to put on my emergency blinkers, turn off my car, re-start it, and begin to drive again until it would go out again and i would have to do it all over again. it got to the point where i felt unsafe to drive my car so i had to get it fixed. i took it to the dealership and it cost me over six hundred dollars to fix the steering motor. it took the dealership over a week and a half to fix the problem when they said it would only take about three hours to put the new part in. i was without a car for that whole time and was also left to pay the large payment. gm did not offer much customer assistance in helping me to fix the problem and my warranty for the motor i had to purchase is only for 12,000 miles or one year. i am fearful that the part will go out again and i will have to pay yet another $600. there was a recall on the 2006 model of my car, and, although my car was made in july of 2006, gm refused to put my car on recall because they said that it was considered a 2006. i find this unfair and wrong. this is a major problem that could cause much harm. gm should be responsible for fixing the problem and also for helping out those people who had to fix the problem on their own. it is scary to have your power steering go out and the chance of getting into an accident because of it is a scary thought also. | |||

| My daughter purchased a 2007 pontiac g6 with 24000 miles on it and it now has 39000 miles. sometime within those 13000 miles it has developed a clunking noise whenever the steering wheel is turned most noticably at low speeds. i have pinpointed the noise to be coming from the steering box or steering shaft. i am afraid that this will lead to steering control failure if this problem is not corrected soon. i am aware that many other people are experiencing the same problem. please have gm issue a recall on this year model pontiac g6 as soon as possible. | |||

| 2007 pontiac g6 - purhcased new. steering column started squeaking and squealing a year ago. took it to dealer numerous times but they can't fix it for good. now you can feel a rough vibration when you turn the wheel left or right and it is getting less smooth to turn - very apparent squealing now everytime the wheel is turned. about a year ago they replaced the rack and pinion but the sqeak got worse and they lubricated something but the mechanic didn't clearly say what as he couldn't diagnose the problem. the dealer now refuses to look at it unless i pay a diagnostic fee and they say all they can do is lubricate it for an additional exorbitant fee. gm refuses to make the dealership investigate it further eventhough my complaints are on file at the dealer. the mechanic previously told me that as long as the complaint was on file then it will be covered by warranty even after the 3 year warranty expired but i guess that was a lie. | |||

| My pontiac g-6 has steering problems. it started out making this popping noise whenever i turned a sharp turn. now the popping is getting worse. i was informed through a guy at work who has an 08' g-6 that the problem is in the steering knuckle. he has taken his to the dealership countless times to get it replaced and the new parts just keep going bad. he told me the problem was because of lack of lubrication, but yet there are no grease zerks to at grease. what a very poor design, what ignorance, especially this day and age. its common sense that moving metal parts need lubrication. i was told that the new proposal to fix it was to put a plastic shroud around the knuckle, pumped full of grease, and just hope and pray it works. i'm no mechanic but that seems pretty crappy if you ask me. i haven't had the time to take my car in to have it looked at yet, i'm hoping i don't have to pay for this out of my own pocket, because of pontiac's stupidity. i'm hoping that they come out with a recall soon before this problem causes a serious accident. *tr | |||

| As a consumer i am writing you this letter to lodge a complaint for the car/lemon i have been leasing. the type of car i am leasing is a 2007 pontiac g6 4 door sedan, #. since leasing this vehicle i have many concerns of not only my own safety but the safety of other people on the road. here are the following issues since leasing this car: 1.replaced signal switch located on steering column on 1/16/08 2.replaced right visor for mirror on passenger side of car 1/16/08 3.replaced broken cable for right rear window regulator on 3/14/08 4.replaced steering column on 7/28/08 5.replaced front brakes with high end pads estimated date 8/08 6.replaced rear left bulb for brake lights estimated date 10/08 7.about a month after steering column was replaced the steering column again was making a clicking sound when turning right and left at a slow rate of speed. 8.instead of replacing the steering column they chose to lube intermediate steering shaft instead on 1/20/09 and i will have to keep coming in when the lube wears off!! really me having to come in every month or so!! that was their response to me!! 9.replaced radio because it didn?t come on when i turned on the car the display was blank. would eventually turn on when it wanted to replaced on 1/20/09 also in researching the steering column problem some peoples steering wheels have locked up and they were almost involved in accidents and said in there complaint does somebody have to be killed before gm has a recall on these cars?? it has been a known issue since the first model year 2005 has come out. per dominic torres my sales rep this has been a known issue but there have not been very many complaints lodged for any recall. per dominic it is because the steering column is electrical instead of using fluid and the design was changed in the 2008 model year. gm has contacted me and said they are not willing to lease a new car to me to replace this one. it will be re-poed shortly. *tr | |||

| Under good, dry road conditions on a freeway, a vehicle appeared to be moving into my lane and could have hit me. i started to brake to back off and moved to the right of my lane. the result was that the vehicle fishtailed 4 to 6 times before i regained control. there was no collision because i regained control and other drivers backed off. i took the vehicle to the dealership. their technician replicated the fishtailing. the service department person said that the combination of the g6 suspension, struts, weight distribution, and swept up design resulted in the g6 front dipping down when braked, lifting the rear and locking the brakes. gm and the dealership did nothing to correct the problem because they claimed that was normal for the vehicle and that the brakes and steering checked out as satisfactory. the dealership which checked the car out bought the car back for $3633 less than i paid for the vehicle a few months before. the vehicle had approximately 2000 miles on it. i believe the basic vehicle design is unsafe if fishtailing occurs with a common evasive maneuver under good weather and road conditions. *tr | |||
