Engine head failure, loss of coolant, coolant warning light comes on. took to dealer on two occasions. never notified of special serviced policy for repair and/or replacement of this engine problem per special policy bulletin no:57-61-26a. policy good for up to 100k. found policy on internet on december 27th 2000 and called the dealer and gm on numerous occasions since that time. they claim that the time limit on my vehicle has expired (august 21,2000). they will not honor the warranty program even though i spoke with two pontiac service departments before that time and was told specifically that there were no special programs for this problem. the engine is a known looser and the dealers cant win by working on it and, in my experience, try to discurage any consideration of repairs and do not disclose the free replacement policy. pontiac does not carry these policies on their website. they do not notify owners of the availability of repairs. my vehicle has no dents or rust and the body is in very good condition, but it has not been driven for months because i do not want to inflict any additional engine damage. i find an indication of water on my dipstick.

I bought a used 1993 pontiac grand am from missouri motors in poplar bluff missouri. i began to notice that this car was using antifreeze faster than it was using gasoline! i found an article in consumer reports magazine that says 1992 and 93 grand ams have a problem with a coolant leak, and that i can possibly get it repaired for free. i took my car to blackwell baldwin in poplar bluff mo. (the g.m. dealer) they said that my car matched up perfectly with the cars gm was fixing for free: all exept for the vehicle identification number. this is total bull! my car is the exact same model, and the exact same year with the exact same engine and the exact same problem as the cars g.m. is fixing! is this legal? is their an attorney in my state who specializes in lemon vehicles? the used car dealer i purchased the car from never told me about the problem, and they had to have known, because the antifreeze ends up in the oil. blackwell baldwin said the car is not safe to drive in this condition, and i want to know what i can do to get g.m. to fix their lemon.

Note: the vin i listed is correct. however, the other information such as engine size, cylinders, etc. may be incorrect). i am the owner of a 1993 pontiac grand am, vin #1g2ne5433pc816500. presently, my vehicle has a cracked cylinder head which has caused coolant to leak out over the engine and everywhere else under the hood. there is a horrible ordor immitted and the oil light repeated flicks on and off even though there is sufficient oil. the vehicle has stalled out on me and chugs along like it is not getting gas properly when i try to accelerate. the plugs were also getting wet with coolant which was also why my vehicle kept stalling out. the technician who examined my vehicle found a service bulletin (no. 57-61-26a) in which he felt my vehicle should be covered. i then took my vehicle to the dealer, along with a copy of this bulletin to repair the damage. i have now been told that my vehicle will not be covered by the dealer and that the cost for repair is approximately $4,000. i was told that my vin is not included in the series of vin numbers listed in the bulletin. i am looking for help to determine if any other bulletins have been issued, after the original, that would be inclusive of my vehicle's vin. i find it extremely hard to swallow that my vehicle has every thing wrong with it that is listed in the bulletin and other vehicles with the same problems are being repaired at no cost and just because my vehicle's numbers don't match, i have to pay enormously. i would also like to know who determines what vehicle numbers will be included in the bulletins. i hope that someone can help met out. i am presently financially unable to pay for the repairs necessary to get my vehicle running again. at the same time i cannot be without a vehicle since i have a four-year old that i must transport back and forth before and after i return from work. your assistance in any way possible would be greatly appreciated. thank you. lisa bradshaw
