File date 5/2/2000 mfr. involved general motors corp. nhtsa campaign # 00v116000 mfr. campaign # 00041 component affected suspension:rear # vehicles affected 23 defect vehicle description: passenger vehicles. the bolt that attaches the rear suspension trailing arm to the left rear knuckle may not have been tightened to specifications during assembly. consequence the bolt could back completely out of the joint affecting vehicle control. corrective action dealers will tighten this bolt. ------------------------------ i have to replace the rear wheel bearing on the left rear. i was told by the dealer, that this did not apply to my 2000 pontiac grand am se, . each bearing is $ 300- 400, but i have not had to replace in other bearings except the left rear. could the above recall affect that wheel bearing, and how much of a coincidence that it just so happens to be the left rear wheel bearing on my car, could there have been more of a widespread problem with the left rear suspension of this vehicle? also when breaking at high speeds the abs light came on, the new left rear brake shoe cracked in half as a result of the left rear wheel bearing having issues. *tr

After having to get the wheels bearings replaced in my front wheels, i started hearing a knocking/clicking noise coming from the wheels. i took it back to the same place and they replaced the bearings again, but the noise was still there. the third and fourth time i took it there they replaced cv joints and front controls arms. the noise was still there. i gave up on that garage. i took it to a second place where they pretty much took apart everything under the front end of my car. four months later i still hear the clicking, and i think this current problem is related. driving down the highway last week the abs, service vehicle soon, and traction off light all came on. took it to a repair shop and they have no idea what is wrong (no codes). after i start my car, the first few times i brake, it makes a clanking noise and the brakes lose all pressure for a few seconds. after the warning lights come on the brakes work fine. car is at dealer now. *jb

Grinding noises coming from front end. took to dealer and was told it is a wheel on rim incompatibility. they will not change cause there is no recall on the parts. was told if i bought new tires and rims it would help. spent $1300 on tires and rims to still hear the noise. took it back for the dealer to say they cant help cause of the factory warranty being over and the company that help my extended warranty filed bankrupcy.

The tires are very weak and are not very durable. from the experience i've had, i don't feel safe with the tires and wheels on my car. every time i'm driving somewhere and encounter everyday road conditions, i'm scared to find a flat, popped tire; or blowout. i've had the exterior black lining fixed 2 times and i'm not happy it is happening again! the rear windshield weather strip is separating. the lower body mold is comiing off the body around the entire vehicle. a suspension cover part doesn't fit, has been to dave cross service dept. where car spent 4 days and said to be repaired, i got my car back and it was worse than when it went there. whoever has replaced the front bumper is a complete moron! it isn't lined up with the proper things! the driver side is lower than the passenger side. the car sounds like it is going to fall apart on a perfect road! a lot of money has been put into this vehicle and it's very upsetting when it is taken to get fixed, pay for that, get it back, it's still not right, take it back again, pay, recieve rude customer service, then it's a half-a** job! there's so many things to comment about, but those are the top subjects with my car. hopefully, i will be taken seriously for once. thank you for your time, it is appreciated. dt

I have after market rims with sumitomo htr+ 225/40zr18 tires. on my way traveling to california from louisiana my rear tire blew out causing my rim to crack and it also scrached up the lower right half of my car, it cost me $600.00 to replace the rim and tire and now i have a bubble forming in my front driver side tire i think that the company who makes this tire should refund me the money i spent to replace the rim and tire, fix the damage to my car, and also give me a replacement for the one with the bubble. something needs to be done because im not the only one this has happened to my frind has the same exact tires and his did the same thing only he was at a stop light when it happened.these tires are not cheap and i still have to repaire the body damage. thank you from a concered soldier of the army. *ak

There is a grinding noise coming from the wheels. took vehicle to dealer, and they stated that wheel bead broke loose from rim, causing tire to turn on rim. that caused grinding noise. *ak
