The turn signals intermittently work. gm is aware of the problem. there are 2 other recalls for the same issue, but for different years. 2000-2001 grand am, oldsmobile alero, chevrolet malibu (nhtsa campaign id number 03v327000) and 1999-2000 grand am, oldsmobile alero, chevrolet malibu. i have called pontiac, however they were unable to assist me with this issue. this is a very serious problem that could result in a crash.

Turn signals would stop working at different times. started researching and found some vin#'s were recalled while others weren't. some complaints stated if you push the hazard button when they don't work that they will start working. i tried this and it did work. numerous complaints all over the web about same problem. contacted pontiac who didn't want to fix the problem. they had no concern that there were numerous other issues with the same cars. common sense would say if they are doing the same thing as the others that were recalled then it should be fixed by pontiac. this is something that can very well cause a crash. i will continue to do what i have to for pontiac to acknowledge the problem.

The lamps on my gt grand am aren't right do to the low beams being brighter than the high beems. and water is in the lamp. and my car will not start and i called and told you all of this. and i worked on it some and moved some wires and it stared to work once again. and now down again.it will not do a thing but light up the dash. so i replaced the keystarter and it still doesn't do anything. my daughters car is also a grand am and it locked up on her too and would not start .lord forbid if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and the fact that we are women, hopefully nothing bad would happen. she replaced the ignition which was the problem with her vehicle but it is not the case with my vehicle. i was hearing click click in the dash a lot and can not tell what it is and not sure if it is a short. and it is not fair we bought the vehicle and it seems like a death trap. thank you for all your help. ps the car dose not like to stop right it has new brakes on it and been updated. but still dose not wait to stop. but i came really close to hitting some one. *tr

My car has had a clicking noise ongoing for a few months now. it seems to be stemming from behind the hazard light button in the center of the car. today the car started smoking behind the steering column on the inside of the car. why isn't there a recall? i've read so many complains similar to mine. what could have happened if it caught on fire earlier today? please do something. *tr

Similar to many of the other complaints here. about the blinker relay cycling when in the neutral position. there were recalls for this on previous model years. no recall exists for this model year and mr. pontiac wants $95 to do a diagnostic. likely it is a manufacturing defect judging from the number of other complaints here. the rate of relay cycling has some correlation to the temperature. *tr

My 2003 pontiac grand am gt turn signal/hazard light switch stops working. i have to hit on the dash to get it started then it quits again. i looked up a recall on this and i found that models 2002 have a recall on this problem, but not the 2003 model. *tr
09/01/2006600001
My car is a 2003 pontiac grand am. i purchased it in 2004. in september of 2006 my dashboard starting making clicking noises that sound like the blinker. this became worse within a month and the steering column began smoking occasionally out of the place where the multifunction switch is. i replaced the part in october of 2006. recently, (06/08) 19 months after the manufacturers warranty ended, the multifunction switch is now clicking again. i contacted pontiac both times and was told that nothing could be done and that the problem would need to be paid for out of pocket. to me this is a severe safety issue. my car could have started on fire due to the multifunction switch. a recall should be done for this part on my gm product. *tr

I have this annoying clicking sound which i thought was my turn signal. however, this noise continues even when my turn signal is off. i tried changing the hazard switch, but the noise continues. it happens several times a day while i'm driving and sometimes it clicks faster and longer then other times. i've also noticed small traces of smoke rise from my steering column while the click is happening. *tr

EXTERIOR LIGHTING - FOG LIGHTS
08/10/2003306/10/2003
I purchased this vehicle in june 2003 with 1695 miles on it. one month later it's in the shop because there was water leaking in through the moonroof's open/close button and the trunk failed to open using the remote or the button on the driver's door. the dealer had the windshield resealed and fixed the connection problem for the trunk. now the vehicle's fog lamps go on and stay on for no reason, even when the vehicle is turned off. i had to take the fuse out for the weekend until i can take it into the dealership. this is the second electrical problem i've had and the car only has 4200 miles on it. *ph

My 2003 pontiac has a clicking in the dash underneath the hazard switch. when i turn on the signal the clicking goes in rhythm with the signals but when i turn the signals off it continue to click, sometimes fast sometimes slow. at first it would only happen very rarely. i am afraid for my child and i it may be a shorter that may cause a fire. i feel there should be a recall on this problem with all the complaints of this matter. please look into this matter and let me know what is going on. i have spoken with many many people who experience the same problem with their gm vehicle. why is the 2003 excluded from this recall??? this problem started with me back in 2007 and i am still having this same problem. i need you to fix the problem before anything bad happen. thanks *tr

Several times since purchasing my 2003 pontiac, there is intermittent clicking coming from the hazard switch area in the instrument panel and several instances of tail light, turn signal, and hazard light failure. have had the problem diagnosed by a mechanic and was told it is coming from the multi function switch in the steering column and will cost more than $300 to fix. i have found other reports of this malfunction from pontiac owners from 1999 up through 2004 and have not been able to find a recall for anything other than the hazard switch. my hazard switch has been replaced and did not alleviate the problem. *jb

2003 pontiac grand am 4 cylinder. started hearing a clicking noise, like the blinker is on. now it makes the noise all the time while the car is running. this is very annoying and can make you think you left your blinker on. i replaced the hazard switch and it didn't stop it. someone said it may be the multifunction switch. i took it to the dealer and was told that no recall was on that specific part. *tr

The ticker sound that is usually associated with the flashers or turn signal continues incessantly when neither function is activated. sound comes from behind hazard button, but mechanics have advised replacing the multifunction switch in the steering column. they have warned that the situation will worsen and perhaps cause brake light problems if not corrected. *tr

Multifunction switch makes a clicking noise even when i am not using the turn signals. at first, if i wiggled or tapped on the switch, the clicking would stop, but now it just clicks incessantly. it is extremely annoying. yesterday while driving down the freeway i noticed a small stream of smoke coming from my steering wheel. i immediately drove it to a pontiac deal and they advised it shouldn't catch fire that it would blow a fuse before it got too hot. they advise it would cost over 300 to fix. this is frustrating because it's been recalled on several earlier models. *tr

A clicking noise that sounds like the hazard lights are on when they are not. was told at first it was the hazard switch, however, after being replaced this did not fix the problem. have now determined it is the multi-function switch and it costs over $300 to fix. have heard many other grand am owners complain about this problem. *jb
07/20/200742000106/20/2003
My 2003 pontiac grand am has had this clicking noise, coming from under the dash for about a year now. it sounds like the sound the turn signal would make, but a little faster. and it comes and goes and lasts for different durations of time. i notice when the turn signal is on, then the noise goes away. also, when i slightly hold the hazard button in, without actually turning it on, the noise also stops, but then my turn signals won't work. i took it to the mechanic and he stated that it might be the hazard switch. however, with the new switch in place, the problem and annoying sound continued! *jb

My 2003 pontiac has a clicking in the dash underneath the hazard switch. when i turn on turn signal the clicking goes in rhythm with the signals but when i turn the signals off it continues to click, sometimes fast sometimes slow. this is very annoying and i am afraid there may be a short that may cause a fire. i have checked the internet and come to find that many pontiac owners are experiencing the same problem. they have told pontiac about this problem and they just ignore the complaints. i feel there should be a recall on this problem with all the complaints of this matter. this problem seems to be occurring in many pontiac's ranging from 1995 to 2004. i have a 2003 grand am gt. i hope that you have received many complaints for this problem because through my investigating this problem i have found so many with the same problem. pontiac has to fix this problem before someone's vehicle catches on fire and burns a house down with an attached garage. please look into this matter and let me know what is going on. *jb
