| My car was parked at a walmart for approximately 15 minutes when i was notified over the intercom to report to the service desk. they informed me my car was on fire and they had notified 911. when i got to my vehicle the engine compartment was engulfed in flames. | |||

| My former vehicle, a 2002 pontiac grand prix, had a safety recall to prevent engine compartment fire. i had that recall fixed on september 22, 2011. on october 23, 2011, i drove it from work to home, approximately three miles. myself and passenger parked, and took a few things inside. we noticed a burning smell, like plastic and a faint electrical smell, and thought someone was burning trash, as i had never smelled that from my vehicle before. i went right back out to get something, and saw smoke billowing out from under the hood. i popped the hood, and saw the glow of fire; we grabbed fire extinguishers, and put out the fire, which was located in part on the plastic hood cover over the engine. the car was declared a total loss after about a week of shuffling it around and calling for parts. upon further research, it appears that this has happened many times, including others like myself, whose engine caught after fixing the recall. there are also suggestions that the part fixed on the recall is not the true origin of the problem. then again, gm's fix for the oil splashing over the manifold it is to put on spark plug wire retainers. it is very dangerous, and i hesitate to think what would have happened if i had been driving, possibly with passengers, when it caught fire. | |||

| Bought a used 2002 pontiac grand prix gt about two months ago and safety inspection sheet said car was up to par. not so, just after buying the car the sway bar link was found to be almost broken and the brakes failed just after 5000 miles. parts were replaced for both and the old parts to the brakes are available to view. | |||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. the contact stated they were traveling 70 mph when they saw smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle. the contact stated the temperature gauge started to rise and then smoke came from under the hood. the contact was able to pull to the side of the road before the vehicle ignited. the police and fire department came to the scene of the fire. the vehicle was towed to a salvage lot because it was ruled destroyed. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was unknown. rl | |||

| Water will leak into the passenger side of the vehicle whenever it would rain or if i take it in a car wash. i just had my window repaired last week due to a crack and this still didn't fix the problem. i took the car in to get it looked at and no one can find a problem with it. | |||

| Smoke coming from under the hood, followed by thick dark smoke coming from the gear shift inside the vehicle. loss of steering followed by a loss of brakes. coasted to a stop at an intersection. upon exiting the car the right front tire had begun to melt. flames where coming from under the front passenger fender well. within 5 minutes the entire engine compartment was on fire. | |||

| Just coming home from work on a friday, pulled into a gas station to filler up. and noticed key was stuck in ignition having all power still running through car. got it home and did some research and come to find out there's a solenoid in the steering column that attaches to two wires leading out to computer. any others out there experiencing third problem maybe we can get enough defects for these corporate guys to give us a product that's going last without some computer bs emptying our pockets for such little (use to be ) simple fixes. *tr | |||
