I purchased a 2003 pontiac grand prix se with a v-6 and i get water coming in the passenger side every time it rains. also the transmission shifts hard occasionally when going from first to second gear. i was told to fix the leak would be around $300 and the transmission problem.... i may as well buy another car for that price....

The car is a 2003 pontiac grand prix. the problem is that at a speed of 35 mph i get a wind noise that comes from the upper part of the window. i can feed a sheet of paper through the door and the window. i have taken the car to the dealer 3 times for the same problem. they tell me its a built in defect in the design of the car. i did not pay $24,000 or more for a built in defect in a car. i bought the car at the end of august of 2003.*ak

I have a 2003 grand prix se and on 2/15/05, i went to open the back passenger door and the hinge and spring fell to the ground. it's the rivet end of the detent that snapped off. i contacted pontiac via emails and they told me to contact my dealer. i did and they told me the part costs $48.20 plus tax which equaled $50.91. my question here concerns the safety of this car if pieces fall off that should last the lifetime of a car. as long as i have owned this car since 4/17/04, there has been no accidents or anything to make this piece break off. are there recalls for this? i have looked and no is that answer. i don't feel that i had to pay for this part as we feel this is some kind of recall that should be put in place. i appreciate you looking into this as who knows, maybe next time the door will just open up in traffic or something. thank you. *jb

I have a 2003 grand prix and the other day on the 15th of feb, i went to open my back passenger door and the hinge and spring fell to the ground. i contacted pontiac and they just told me contact the dealer. i did, and i had to buy the whole part. my question is why would a part of the car that is designed and expectant to last the lifetime of car, so why did the rivet end of the detent break? actually it was the rivet that broke but not the arm or the spring. this wasn't due to any type of accident, just open the back door and the parts fell to the ground. i feel that i shouldn't have had to pay for this because the defect. i think i should have the dealer or pontiac fix this and reimburse me for this expense. *jb
